I'm a major fan of the original Ghost recon, and in fact a very devoted Tom Clancy fan, owning every Rainbow 6 game and the unique Splinter cell. The main appeal of this game, to me, was the multiplayer. I don't have XBOX live, so this review wont cover that, it will however, cover the System Link and Single Player.Firstly. Graphics:They've have a tune up, not by much. Everything's still very... uninspired, but it feels realistic for some reason. Running through bushes, hiding behind palm trees etc. It's all bloody exciting and looks sweet even though its a dated engine.Gameplay:It's been tweaked up a few notches, weapon selection doesn't take a decade to load like the original, grenade launchers can be selected with a click of a button instead of waiting. This is probably down to owners of the game suggesting this, and Kudos to Red Storm for taking it on board. Aside from that, it's very much the same as the original when it comes to playing - a few shots and you die, a shot to the head and they die. You'll either love that or hate it, I personally love the tension it adds but ultimately some people just love their health bar reading '100' :)There's also a brand new arsenal of weapons to accompany the original, although it's lacking as many of the 'unlockable' features and i gained all of them within a day of play. I suppose this is because the emphasis is on multiplayer play.Sound:Beautiful, clear and realistic. The guns sound almost identical to the real thing, a few have suspicious loading sounds and there are some cheesy dialogue chunks from your team mates that always make you want to have someone yell 'Friendly Fire' as you pummel them with a grenade launcher round.Multiplayer:Worth every penny. Voice comm's awesome, the maps are perfect for all the game modes, maybe could have done with a few more but i'm sure you could download them online. Not enough game types, i'd have liked to see some innovative types but they do include plenty to keep the average gamer going. Just not the ones like me who want everything at once, instead of needing XBOX live to complete their gaming experience. No lag experienced with the official XBOX Link Cables either, that's only with 2 players, mind. I plan to try out larger games at some point.Single Player's a disappointment, but again the game was only 15 quid and was hyped as an onliner. Don't expect to spend much time alone on this.I don't currently play much of this unless I'm challenged to a sniper duel at parties. At which I can kick arse, if you're in the Herts area, bring it on :DLastability is only guaranteed with XBOX Live. Although the new Rainbow 6 is probably going to outdo that one, seeing as it does have nicer visuals and sound. Will go review it now, seeing as I just about finished the single player campaign.Cheers for reading, good luck with your purchase.

Rain all around you, mud in your combat shoes, in your combat gear & on your gun.The rain so thick you can't see 10 m in front of you.The future of cuba in your hands. Trying to see the enemy target with your scope. Suddenly you hear gun sounds crackaling, splashing of mud around you and the thud of metal passing through flesh. Your main gunner is dead. You have the spilt second choice of: 1 Shoot randomly and hope, 2 blend in with the surrounding mud or 3 goin alla Rambo. This is what Ghost Recon Island Thunder did to me after 5 minutes of playing. The gist of the story is: Castro has croacked and Cuba is about have the first free election of head of state after some generally bad people running the country.you must make sure every thing goes smoothly. You get 8 new missions on the disk, about 10 fully Xbox Live play able maps + 4 maps from the original game chosen by the fans and a new multi-player mode + the original 4 modes. Downloadable content. It is an Expansion Disc which does not require you to buy the original game and at that price an exellent buy. There are some quibles, 1 the graphics are pretty good but won't win The Best Graphics of the Year Award, 2 the team set-up mode is a bit sluggish when macking choices and 3 it is not to uncommon to have a BIT of lag. But these are generaly minor quibbles. The gameplay is mostly smooth and well made so go out there and save the world again.

I'm not usually into this kind of game, snooping around pretending to be a soldier out in the jungle shooting bad people etc... And I found the single player game of Ghost Recon to be just that, not much fun (for me), however going on-line with this game is a different story altogether.Although it's the same game, it's much more fun snooping around the jungle trying to kill you're mates! And even more fun playing some of the co-operative missions as a team against the computer AI, which I might add is very good. There's no easy way to describe the fun when 3 or 4 of you are pinned down in a tin hut (virtually that is), talking (over the headset) about how to deal with the situation of getting out of the hut without being killed, whilst hearing the bullets ‘PING’ of the outside of the shed, it’s fantastic and you really feel like it’s you and your mates up against it.I could go on about the graphic detail, texture work, sound etc… but it’s really not relevant, because all you need to know is that ‘IT WORKS’, you feel like your there, and I’ve not felt that in many games. So to finish off… It’s very tense, it gets people working together and is a superb way to waste a few hours with some friends.Oh and I almost forgot it’s a cheap purchase too, so if you have Xbox Live already get this game!

This game is a tactical squad based shooter and is very difficult although I have completed it. The single player has eight missions and is very good, incredibly tense and gritty and very realistic two shots and you're dead, but you control a team of six so you can just change and control one of them; a great feature I've never seen used before. The only bad thing about the single player is the saving facility badly designed. If a friend comes round it's great fun to play co-op together, my mate came round and we played on the co-op for about 2 and a half hours straight. Apparently it's brilliant on live and I do have live but I've never found anyone playing it on live which is the only bad thing.Overall a brilliant game and for the price even better a must have.

Ghost recon thunder island is a brilliant game(my favourite). The singleplater missions are great fun and the multiplayer possibilities are huge. On live you can play up to 12 players with loads of different game modes. I am possotive this game will give you hours of enjoyment. I would recomend this game to all xbox owners but for those of you with xbox live it is a must have.Finnally the graphics are truely imense. Personnally i cannot fault the game in any way what so ever and if you can then your too fussy. If you are reading this you are obviously interested in buying this game and my advice is GET IT NOW.

Island thunder for the xbox is an amazing game. Not only is it a great single player game but it also has the wonderful xbox live enabled with it too. It really comes into it's own on xbox live however, and there is nothing better than shooting your mate after an long sneak around the map. Old map favourites are still here from the first GR like Embassy, and now there is downloadable content. Already you can download an awesome map by the name of refinery. If you are an xbox live gamer then you would have to be a fool to miss out on the delights of this game. If not it's still fun to play on your own
