S T O R YYou play as John Kozak, a member of the highly elite 'Hunter' Ghost Squad unit. You and your team are sent across the world to track down the source of a bomb that killed the 'Predator' Ghosts unit on a hostile mission. The 'Hunter' squad are thrown into a dangerous world of weapons trafficking, which brings to light a rogue Russian military outfit known as Raven's Rock who have become hellbent on stirring up political elements in Russia and spreading their influence across the globe. The plot is wafer-thin from the outset, and Kozak's Ghost unit are truly forgettable. Kozak's role as the lead protagonist is wasted, supported by an underwhelming performance amongst the other squad members.G R A P H I C S & S O U N DFuture Soldier is a globe spanning adventure, which has given the level artists plenty of diversity to work with. The campaign will take players from the crumbling towns of Bolivia, moving on to the scorched Zambian deserts. From there on the art direction becomes much more vivid, whisking players into Pakistan, and also plunging players into the frozen landscape of northern Russia. Future Soldier is at its best when immersing players in external environments. The animations of all Ghost squad members are highly fluid, whether they are pressing against cover, or going prone in an instant; they all move with a sense of realism and precision. The blockbuster action-oriented nature of the game has also allowed the developers to create a wide range of particle effects and impressive environmental effects.Unfortunately, the facial animations and textures are very dated and do nothing reflect character emotion. The menu systems are also poorly designed, especiallyG A M E P L A YFuture Soldier's gameplay mechanics are as tightly woven together as many third-person shooters on the market today. The hook of the experience is the ability for Kozak to initiate a Sync Shot with his fellow team members. Each squad member can target an enemy and quickly perform an execution shot simultaneously. Many of the levels can be packed with numerous enemies, which makes it wise to survey the environment and attempt to swiftly eliminate all hostiles. Using the sync shot will allow the Ghosts to advance forward and gain better strategic positioning. Another way for Kozak to survey areas is to use his UAV Drone to mark enemies and get into tighter spaces. Each Ghost member also has a nifty optic camouflage feature, which will render them partially invisible to surrounding enemies. The camouflage is a great way of sneaking upon enemies and getting in some nasty close-quarter kills. The gameplay places a great emphasis upon working with your squad to keep your survival chances at a high. You can dish out orders to the team to focus their fire on specific enemies, which is a great way to get around more dangerous artillery. The campaign provides plenty of action and attempts to utilise a variety of tricky scenarios. A number of missions incorporate 'No Alert' parameters, which need to be handled more delicately. Utilising stealth becomes an invaluable asset; failure to keep a low profile will result in mission termination. The sync shot becomes your best friend in these situations, ensuring that multiple enemies can be eliminated without the alarm being raised. Kozak also has thermal vision to spot pesky enemies in the dark; and there is also a very handy magnetic vision, which will allow players to see through walls and target enemies.Another handy feature is the ability for players to customise their weapons in a number of ways. This can range from adding scopes, improving firepower, increasing cartridge capacity, and even balancing the effectiveness of the weapon in combat. When Kozak doesn't have to sneak around like Batman, he is more than ready to get his hands dirty. Moving from cover-to-cover is very swift, allowing players to mark cover spots and quickly dash into them. The highlight of the campaign is when players have access to a walking battle tank, allowing Kozak to interface with it and utilise its missile and gun armaments to totally blow s*** up! Other scenarios will involve the Ghosts using machine guns aboard aboard a chopper to chase down an escaping convoy – completely blasting it into kingdom come. All is never easy, as the enemy A.I. is up to the task of making your journey very hellish. The Russian Spetsnaz will utilise the same camouflage tech as you, which makes for some interesting shootouts.Unfortunately, the campaign doesn't provide much of a challenge and attempts to hold the player's hand a little too often. Some of the shootouts will funnel players down narrow paths, which can become a little predictable and do nothing to spice up the level design.O V E R A L LFuture Soldier fuses stealth and action into an exciting package. It gives players a number of toys to play with in order to achieve success and keep the fight alive. The story doesn't seem to exist, the visuals paint a vivid picture of many worldwide locations. The gameplay ushers in plenty of thrills and near death scenarios. Future Soldier puts a new twist upon cover-based combat.

Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Future Soldier is the delayed and effectively third game on the Xbox 360 console. The game is different to Advanced Warfighter and features a different protagonist in Kozak. Was it worth the wait? Or with an oversaturared market of shooters, is it missing in action?Future Soldier is an accomplished game in what it does. It's a shooter, but from a third person perspective where planning ahead is pivotal to success. The cover system can be compared to Gears of War. However, it is also fair to say that no game has perfected the cover system as well as GOW and Future Soldier is no exception. While the cover system works it also doesn't at times and leaves you open to enemy fire. The combat and guns work well, but there is less emphasis of your own character than in previous Ghost Recon titles. That's because you're not the Squad Leader, but are instead part of that squad. This is largely irrelevant though as you can still make orders and scout the field with drones and use other tools that you will be provided with throughout the course of the story. The story is one of the highlights (if admittedly unimaginative). Still, the way it all ties together and the mission briefings are a particularly nice touch. This helps embolden the notion that you are a part of a top secret team. In other words, it is immersive. The briefings in addition to cutscenes help to move the story along nicely. One of the big features is the ability to customise weapons and apparently there are millions of possible combinations. This is not as far reaching as it sounds and for many players will not be explored in depth. It's a diversion more than anything else. The main campaign starts off slowly, but does ratchet up the intensity with increasingly difficult assignments towards the end of the game. Other options include an online mode. This has not been tested extensively for the purposes of this review as the servers by this point are far more sparse with the game being released over a year ago. There are a mixture of game types where teamwork is key. Much like Modern Warfare, you can't take too much damage. As a result, running around recklessly will get you killed. Guerilla mode is the other inclusion which is best described as similar to Gears of War and the "Horde Mode" with 50 waves of increasingly tougher enemies. At time of review, the servers are not inundated with players making it harder to get the most out of it. The multiplayer probably works best in the campaign, in the form of co-op, as the main game really is the best element of the package.---Summary---Graphics 9 Some great environments with characters and weapons all on point. One of the better looking games on the Xbox 360.Sound 7 Soundtrack is above average, if forgettable with dance/trance tying into the "futuristic" theme. Voice acting fares a little better.Gameplay 8 Solid and does the job. A lot is carried over from Splinter Cell Conviction, but with far better implementation.Lifespan 6 10+ hour campaign. Online is limited at this stage and generally feels "tacked on" anyway. The campaign is re-playable and some players may go through more than once at a tougher difficulty.Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Future Soldier is a good military shooter. It isn't as radical in a departure from the past as some fans may have liked to see. It is recommended though and especially so if you like having more of a strategic challenge as opposed to purely combative one. 8/10.

While the game its self is great, i dont feel as if this game is worth 35 quid, the game is fun, well thought out, just it lacks in vital areas, so far there are countless glitches in mp and sp modes, lagg on multi player when reloading a game, you can get stuck on a black screen, you get the idea. (infact yesterday the servers went down). There has been a obvious split between multilayer and single player, on SP there are little things that makes it a true ghost recon game, and then in mp it is SOCOM (infact i couldn't tell the two apart if they had the same maps and invisibility cloak for recon)So if you are after GRFS for MP go and buy socom.Ok enough of my jabbering onReasons why SP is good.Gadgets, they are nice to play with, no other game gives you the same experience. missions, So far Great, keeps me playing easily enough, easy to follow.. Like customizing your weapons only?, Great, this game is for you, best weapon customization on Any game currently available. Challenges, you can do a mission as you please, but do it how your supposed to, you get rewarded, its a nice systemReason to Avoid. Too easy, If you want it to be, this game is very easy, but if you want to ruffle the feathers, you can easily make this game hard by choosing not to use drones and sensors and focus firing. Graphics are good, but feel a little dated, you can come across enemys that look identical, e.g In mission one you kill a guy, and two minutes later, the same guy is running across your screen, and faces are sometimes, dull and fuzzy.Other than this SP seems to bee excellentMP good reasons. Customization, as you can geuss, weapon customization is upto ghost recon standards. Maps designed for matches, a simple game of capture the bomb is not about the map, but about the troops, there is no point that is about the map, but how good you and your team are, they are well planned, and not one side is often on the advantage because of the map (one map i can not say this about). Like to be a lone wolf, think again, if you go around in a team, you can be a impenetrable force, it can make for some real heated battles between teams that go around, and if you talk to each other, then it is really a hell of a battle, you can have new players, who talk beat pros, who dont, This game is not about rank.Bad reasons. Armour made of cardboard is good enough for this game, there is no penetration in multi player, which is strange since in SP there is obvious attempts to make penetration a major part of battles..Glitches, the amount of times i have had to leave, or been kiked from matches because of glitches and lagg is... well alot.. Nothing special, sure fun for a month, but after that, i dont think ill be attracted back unless they have a major shake up.

GHost Reconis a very good game. It does more or less exactly what it says on the tin - it's a squad-based tactical shooter with a lot of guns.My time with this game was spent only on the campaign, so here are the pros and cons.- very smooth controls.- AI is very good - I played on Veteran and was met with a fair and square challenge. Line of sight seems spot on, I never felt cheated (hello Crysis 2!)- great variety of locales, especially in the first 5 missions- great atmosphere - I love the com chat and the sound effects. i recommend turning down the music to amp up the realism.- 3D is awesome if you have it- Nice pacing - the game requires that you take your time or you'll get whupped- Great gadgets - in particular the drone. All games need to have a drone.- tactical camo is excellently implemeted - it gives you an advantage and allows you to get uncomfortably close to the targets, but it is no panacea and has distinct limits.- good value - I reckon it was 10 hours or more and I felt like i'd had just enough over 5 play sessions. A big replay factor as well I think.Cons: Framing story is moronic, but no surprises there- Generic characters, but I feel this is by design - their anonimity allows you to step into the world completley. This is not an emotional game.- Weapon sound effects are authentic but lack punch - nothing like as aggressive as the SFX in the rainbow six games, particularly R62, where every shot felt deadly- guns feel very samey- a few too many COD-style scripted moments of heavy bombast (destroy everything with helicopter rail guns!!!) spoil the tense tactical flavour. It's clear that stuff was stuffed in for fear of the competition - it weakens the game.- While the gameplay is overall very good, the game flattens out in its second half - the best missions are up front.- Animations are cool, but environments and textures are sometimes very rough for this stage in the current gen.Overall this is a game I enjoyed a lot, and will return to - but as an experience it lacks charm, for want of a better word. In the middle of this game I started playing Max Payne 3, which just knocked me sideways - but GR is still cool.

Been waiting a while for a Tom Clancy game to beat COD. Here it is!!I have had to tolerate moronic COD gaming, campaign and online, until now. I enjoyed COD for what it is a run around shooting blindly game but to be honest its not rocket science to play and gives zero workout on the brain matter.Ghost Recon Future Soldier on the other hand gives you something to think about in all game modes. Campaign is an interesting blend of learning to use equipment and following the story of teh Ghosts, with you being the newest recruit. It alternates between silent sections with sniping being paramount or stealth kills, to "diamond formation" around a VIP whilst running through landscapes and Tangos jumping out on you!Simplistic in Story but entertaining and varied throughout.........MULTIPLAYER!!! Oh my God!! Whether you are fighting off waves a la most FPS or going solo and slaughtering online with your own specially desgined weapon you will lose days online. Instead of silly rewards such as faster reloading, more resitance to explosive damage, detect enemies from further all unrealistic 'upgrades' (COD i'm looking at you!) we have a plethora of unlockable equipment and attachments for weapons across 3 roles. Be you recon, engineer or assault! All have unique weapons, equipment and unlocks and provide a change each time you log on with their own rewards. Other major points of interest are the "choices" you have to make when unlocking equipment "do i get a customised sniper scope or the thermal one?", data hacking, commanding drones, becoming "invisible", challenges that are fun and unusual, friends challenges which change depending how good your mates are online.....i cant think if anything else to add, other than tonight i will be online and loving the whole experience. If you're bored of running round like a headless chicken and not being able to hide behind cover and actually like a challenge BUY THIS GAME!!

This game was meant to be coming out in March 2011 and I was looking forward to it but was not overly bothered by the delays as it has led to a nicely polished and good looking game, yes the cut scene characters look a bit lifeless - especially the faces but this does not detract from the over all quality of the game. The cover system is great and really well thought out with lots of different points of cover for any one object.I mainly play FPS games and really liked the 3rd person view especially as it allows you to look around without moving the position of your aim i.e. like turning your head in real life (I have always felt that FPS games should have a special controller with a little 3rd stick for head turning)The co-op/campaign is great with the AI being intelligent and life like.I especially like the reflection from a snipers scope. The only problem with the co-op is that you have to have friends who have the game there is no drop in and out like in OFP RR. So if you have no friends with the game and do not make friends in the MP you will not be able to play co-op.I have not yet played guerrilla mode but have played a lot of clan MP and I love it. The harbour map is both claustrophobic and tight, but on a good sized map.If you like FPS and want something more tactical you will enjoy this.Pros: co-op all games should have thisGraphicsTactical you run and gun you won't be running very far.Interesting equipment which as an edge to the game and slows the pace down.Cons:No mates with the game or generally no mates - no co-opWhen you have shouldered your rifle and then reload it does not reshoulder your weapon i.e. looking down the sights.Auto aim - they need to provide an option to turn this off and fast - hence the lack of 5 starsApart form that I am really enjoying this game :) Hope you do too.

This game is excellent in such a way, that it can be seen as quietly brilliant.First off the game play: The controls work great and they don't take much time to get used to. Don't be put off by the fact that it doesn't play like Call Of Duty, and frankly if it did i wouldn't like it as much. The unique duck and cover system that will see you vaulting over walls and diving behind cover, works really well with the new graphics engine that Ubisoft have worked into the game. It's smooth and it will have you jumping in and out of cover, just because it looks so good.Graphics: The new YETI graphics engine that Ubisoft have used for the game, has really done it justice. The game looks just brilliant.Unfortunately some small minded people have been comparing this game to a very good looking PS2 game, which i think is just ridiculous, they obviously need glasses.....i would compare this game in terms of graphics, being twice as good as Rainbow Six Vegas 2, which is still a very good looking game considering its age, so yes Future solider is very easy on the eye.Online play: If you are thinking of buying this, hoping it is like Call of Duty you are buying this game for the wrong reasons. You cant "run, n, gun" like most people seem to do on shooters. You have to use very elegant strategies, tactics and teamwork to have a hope of winning at all. Equipment like sensor grenades and spy drones, are essential to taking a tactical advantage on the battlefield. Like the trailer says, those who fight fair end up dead.Overall: If you are looking for something that isn't just mindless run and gun, looks graphically stunning and has great game play and tactics too boot, this is the game for you.

I read the reviews on this game and was a bit sceptical. But at the bargain price i saw it for i was not going to leave it on the shelf. So, ill give a quick review as i hate reading the long ones as they are very repetitive. The minute the game kicks off you can tell that the graphics are not the best and the characters do seem to be a bit wax figury, lips do not move when they are in story mode but hey, im not interested in watching there lips move. But the shoddy graphics are put aside with the great game play and tactical options this game has to offer. Some reviews state that there is only one way to complete a mission and if you try anything different you will die....RUBBISH!You must be reallypoor at tactical games if you think this.YOU as a player are leading the squad and choose who to kill, when to kill, and in what order. If it is not the correct choice and a body is discovered or you missed someone close by, then obviously you are going to be seen. The gadgets are brilliant, the drone especially as you can fly over a whole village and mark the enemy so that when you are back on foot you can see the outlined yellow shape of them even if a building is in your way. This gives you the advantage and time so that you can plan your attack rather than going in guns blazing.Overall if you like a game where you just run and shoot, run and shoot, then this game is not for you.If on the other hand you like a game where you have to plan your attacks to a fine T, then Ghost Recon Future Soldier is a MUST BUY game.Do not be put off by the COD and MOH fans that just like guns blazing!Happy gaming

Let me start by saying that I had never played a Ghost Recon game before I played this, but being a fan of stealth games (MGS, Splinter cell etc) I thought I would give it a go, I'm so glad I did. You can go in all guns blazing or plan your attacks and take the stealth approach. The campaign is long and good enough to justify the price, offering a number of environments (urban, snow, forest and desert) all presented well. Some missions see you battling the elements such as snow storms and sand storms that severely affect visibility but luckily you are a well equiped killing machine! The cover system is great and helps alot when the action kicks off.The game has a large number of guns to choose from which can be highly customised to suit your liking and the mission at hand. The odd occassion my team would cross enemies sights, close enough that if it was me all hell would break loose but by magic they would walk right past as if they where the hollow man! This was my only problem with the game, although i suppose it saves the frustration of your team blowing your cover, especially on missions which require stealth.I have not played much of the competitive multiplayer so cant really comment, but coop plays well and is alot of fun. I would highly recommend this game to any fan of stealth action game 9/10

I really like the ghost recon series. It has always done things it's way, never following the popular crowd. However, that day may have passed. Future soldier is probably the least hardcore ghost recon released to date. Full of set pieces, mindless shooting and big explosions, it feels like Ubisoft are just trying to appeal to as big an audience as possible. The new stealth system is cool even if it feels a bit overpowered at times. That's the games whole problem in a nutshell. The game is ridiculously easy, even on the hardest setting. Your team hardly ever go down and will happily take care of all threats for you while you sit back and do nothing. Can't see an enemy you want your team to kill?Simple. Just send a drone into the air, fly around the battlefield till you find one, mark him and let your team take care of the rest. Want to see what lies behind a wall, in a room or on a roof? Simply turn on your metallic vision that allows you to see all nearby enemies, regardless of where they may be hiding. To sum up, it is an enjoyable game, with a good length campaign and fun guerilla mode, but it can also feel at times that the game is playing itself. However, online co op does rectify some of these problems but it also removes most of the strategy element to the game.

On my first play through, I was quite impressed. The gameplay was smooth, the story was engaging, and I was loving the fact that I had so many options on how to defeat the enemies with it being a tactical shooter. I had finished the game in about 3 days, which was surprising because I don't usually spend that long on a game, so it was also good that it was a fairly long game as well. But the reason I have given this game 4 stars is because of my second play through. I decided that I was going to replay it about 6 months later, as I had gotten bored with the fact that I had finished any of my other games. I played right from the start, and throughout, the game was riddled with bugs. The AI wasn't responding sometimes, mission objectives which I had completed wouldn't change, and all of this led to me not being able to progress. Ultimately I had to restart a level every time one of these things happened, which was really disappointing as the levels were quite long. But those are about the games only cons, so if you're looking for a good play through, I'd recommend this game.

this game is refreshing and diffrent to all the fps out there i,m running it on a 42" and the graphics run smooth the game play is also smooth and the guns sound really good to thats all i can say is that it is true about no co op on campaign mode but for all those idiots out there, no where on the box , beta or the trailers does it say split screen campaign it does say co op mode!!! ( except for gurilla )which these days wot game other than black ops does split screen which again is only zombies or online mode. From about mission 5 onwards i've got to say I found Future Soldier really enjoyable. That maybe is because I got good at it by then. It's the stealth action that really makes the game. Under camouflage, taking enemy out and directing your squad towards the others is brilliant. You have many options to proceed as well. i.e. using magnetic vision or throwing a sensor grenade etc. Going gunho on this one usally leads to a quick death. My only crtiscism is that you die rather too cheaply sometimes or by the time your revived or you've revived your squad the action has finshed and your thinking well I've paid to play this game - not to go through a reviving senario. The graphics are somewhat grainy, but that did not detract from a great strategy game that makes you think about your approach.

I do love a bit of Mr Clancy. it is a shame he is dead.I have always figured Tom's games have been a bit more cerebal than the Modern Warfare point and shoot. I did enjoy the whole creeping about trying not to get detected although it did get frustrating at times. I appreciate it is set in the future but sometimes the gadgets got on my nerves and I just wanted to go in guns blazing. But thats the game I guess. Graphics were very nice and I liked the story. I also liked the squad elements, I would definitely recommend it as I have replayed it more than once and it has a lot of nice touches that don't make the whole thing feel like you are just on a rails led narrative.I did enjoy holding my entire team up for 20 odd minutes because I was enjoying the firefight too much to move up.

I picked up the game last night and absolutely love it.Cover system is the best out of every game I have played so far, third person (with first person zoom) adds a new dimension to the genre, and overall, Ghost Recon is an amazing game.Possibly one of the best features is that every mode, including the 12 hour campaign and 15 hour guerrilla mode, includes Co-op, which for me, makes the game even better.I love call of duty and battlefield, but this game is so refreshing. You actually have to play extremely tactically and if you are tired of the sometimes irritating and boring run and gun gameplay of duty and battlefield, you should definitely pick up this game. Kudos to Ubisoft
