I have an older version of this watch – a Timex 10-Lap Ironman Triathlon. I've had it for 5 or 6 years. It's beat to hell, but still works perfectly, and that's the TLDR version. For those with a better attention span:This watch is amazing and has endured serious abuse during the 5 or 6 years I've owned it. I've had to replace the battery twice now, which isn't nearly as hard as some people would have you believe (just unscrew the back, unscrew the small piece holding the battery in, put the new battery in, then close her back up). The batteries seem to last approximately two or three years, and at the point at which I replace them the watch still functions, except that the normal display mode gets a little dim,and when the indiglo button is pressed you can't see anything. Still keeps perfect time, though. If you can manage to change out the battery when you need to, it's a long-lasting, durable, rugged watch. I have worn this as an ocean lifeguard, surfer, bodysurfer, free diver/polespear fisherman, runner, cyclist, and everything else I've done in my life. I only take it off to sleep, because it's a little bulky. It's been 50 feet underwater without a problem (haven't gone deeper), and has survived the impact of waves with 12-foot faces, falls from a mountain bike, and falls from a road bike. The acrylic face will get scratched up and banged up if you treat it badly enough, like I have, but it can still be read.Because a lot of my training is interval training, I really appreciate the ability to time workouts with the "chrono" feature and split laps. I appreciate the "timer" feature when I want to cook an egg or time the pizza delivery guy to see if he takes too long and I get free pizza, which may or may not actually be a thing. I don't know because that son of a b***h is always early. I don't mess with the "alarm" feature but I have, and it works well. This watch has always kept perfect time. The value, for what you get, is incredible. For $25 or $30, you get a watch that does just about everything you need it to do as an athlete or fitness enthusiast, with the exception of GPS functionality, but then for that you'll have to add $100 to the price of this watch, just for a starter model.I took off a star because the strap on mine was velcro, and it wore out, so I had to replace it with a nylon buckle strap, and that was not easy. The newer resin straps look to be a little tough to change out, which I think may be an effort on Timex's part to turn a 10-year watch into a 2-year watch, but that's just speculation. I almost took off another star because these watches have gotten so big over the years, but that seems to be what people want. When I grew up, a man's watch was somewhere between the size of a half-dollar and a silver dollar, and looked nice on the wrist. Now, watches are so enormous that everyone wearing one, no matter how thick his wrist is, looks like a child wearing a grownup's watch. Still, people like what they like – no sense taking off a star over it. I included a photo below for reference. For the record, I'm 5'9" and 185 pounds, with a medium frame and normal sized hands. If you're not an athlete or don't need to time anything precisely, you'll be fine with a more sophisticated, simple, stylish-looking analog watch, but otherwise this watch is the one. Just go for it.

I've had it for two days and compared it to my Casio Men's DW5600E G-Shock repeatedly. I just like this one better and I'm shocked - no pun intended. Durability is the biggest question in my mind - so time will tell - but at least I can read the numbers on this easily and user interface is awesome - better than expected on a watch at this price. Here's what I really love about this watch:- 50% lighter than the g-shock- Sightly thinner - it's close though- I can actually read the numbers - my eyes aren't what they used to be and the Timex numbers are a good 50% larger than my g-shock.- Fantastic contrast of numbers against background: much better than my g-shocks - the background is whiter - so easier to read.- Smoother, sleeker design and a few mm thinner makes all the difference with my dress shirts - I think it's the sleekness more than just being thinner. It doesn't 'catch' on my shirt sleeves - which I find very annoying about my two g-shocks unfortunately.Additional Pros- Buttons are easier to work with than the G-shock. (could be a con though - we'll see)- User interface feels more modern and intuitive.- Dual time zone and easy, intuitive switching is really nice- Band is thinner and seems a better fit for my thinner wrists- Band lock: I was annoyed at first like some else said. But, now I really like it. It locks in the band strap nicely so there's no movement at all. If you're someone who removes your watch a lot, you may be annoyed. If you don't, you'll probably love this.- Indiglo 8-hour night mode is pretty cool - jury is still out on this one - but I think I like it.- Very inexpensive - disposable in fact.Cons- Buttons are easy to press. It's more of a 'pro' for me right now but I just bought this a few days ago and can see how it may become a 'con' like some other reviewers mentioned. Time will tell and I will definitely edit my review if this becomes an issue. At the moment I like how much easier they are to deal with compared to my G-shocks.- Durability: potential con - I couldn't find any reviews addressing how long these last. This feels less substantial than your average g-shock watch. But, they're super cheap so even a couple of years would be nice. But, the g-shocks last forever and even if you beat on them, they still look great. This one - I don't know - I hope it proves to be indestructible like the g-shocks but it doesn't feel as industrial strength. Time will tell. It's so light, maybe it just feels less rugged comparatively but it will be just as good. It's a keeper for now - but if the watch face (acrylic?) ends up being anywhere near as rugged as the G-shocks - I'll be a very happy camper.

I have owned three Timex Expedition watches over the last 5 or 6 years and I really like them. When the display on the latest one decided to let go, I decided to try the Ironman instead. After a couple of weeks, I have decided I like the Expedition better.A definite "pro" on this watch is the display has excellent contrast and is very easy to read, especially when using the Indiglo backlight. The opposite is true of the Expedition.Another reviewer complained of overly sensitive buttons, and I have to agree, especially compared again to the Expedition. The slightest pressure on the buttons will activate them, often causing an annoying change to a different mode or a switch from T1 to T2.The top button will change T1/T2 when held down, and this will happen even for innocuous actions like putting your hand in your pocket for a few seconds. On the Expedition, the top button turned on the Indiglo, so it wasn't as big a deal.On the other hand, if you actually use the lap timers, split times, etc. quite often, you might say this is a "pro" as they are very easy to activate while wearing the watch.Switching between the two models can be confusing due to the different button layouts. This is a good watch, but if you are already used to an Expedition model, you might want to stick with that model instead. I have to ding this one one star for the sensitive buttons.

The Timex Ironman watches are in my opinion the best bang for the buck. I've had 4 or 5 of them, whether they are 10 lap or 30 lap. They rarely break, keep accurate time, and have enough accessories (alarm, timer, stop watch) for my liking. The only reason I upgrade is when the battery goes dead after 4 or 5 years. I have changed a few batteries, but I've gotten lazy and spend the extra $20 to get a new watch in a different color.I had a 30 lap last and was very happy with it. I think I will like the 10 lap equally and it was a few dollars less. The one alarm on the 10 lap is fine, I don't need the extra 2 on the 30 lap. I rarely run intervals requiring the extra 20 laps, and now usually wear a GPS watch for my runs. I like the writing on the face (10 lap) rather than on the rim (30 lap)- and the writing is less conspicuous. And I like the feel of the buttons on the 10 lap- they are more sensative, but you almost feel a click when they are pushed as opposed the the 30 lap where you need to press harder and almost need to look at the face to know if the feature was activated. For an inexpensive digital watch, this watch has everything I need.

If you are looking for a simple clean looking multi function "bubble gum" watch this will fill the bill. It is not elegant but that isn't why I bought it. I wanted a watch to wear when working or playing golf etc that would not "sweat out" and would give more functionality than just telling the time of day. This watch fills the bill. Aside for the function switch being a bit "twitchy" (light to the touch) I can find nothing wrong with my selection of this watch. All functions work as advertised. It is easy to use and pretty intuitive which is a good thing since there are no user instruction included with the watch and I have not been able to find instructions specific to this watch on the internet. As alluded to earlier the function button is a little to touchy. I find myself looking at the chronograph when I expect the time. No big deal. It is easy to get back to the desired function without disrupting anything else you have going on such as the countdown timer or alarm. All in all I think for the money it would be hard to find another watch with the clean styling and functionality for a better price.

This is my second Ironman Triathlon watch and everything functions amazingly well with one exception. There are two time zones as my older watch has, however there is no marker on the screen of this newer one that shows which time is showing (T1 or T2). This is especially a problem because the new watch is very easy to swap the zones without knowing it. You only have to hold the front button down for about 5 seconds and it switches. Not a big deal, it would seem, but just crossing your arms can cause it to happen. Putting your hands under your pillow at night means that the time zone will likely be swapped the next morning. Although it is easy to switch back,it is annoying to have to press the front button each time you read the watch to make sure you are on the right setting. The only way to override this problem is to set both settings to the same time so it does not matter. Still a tough watch and otherwise works well, but I am a bit disappointed. When I travel, these two time zones are very handy to have.

I was looking for a digital watch, one I could use for sports. I happened to be training for a sprint triathlon during the time but still was looking at Timex watches under $40 or so. This T5K6089J is exactly what I was looking for. Easy to read digital display, day-date-time all on one screen. Chrono, timer, alarm are the three modes. There is a light up button/glow in dark for about 3 seconds. I really like the stopwatch or chrono. It has splits or laps, so if your running 3 miles, you can time each mile while still getting a total time. I use it for running and swimming and in the gym too for proper rest periods. I like to do 10laps (500yards) and time each lap - very useful in training to pace yourself. It does more than just 10 laps, I have done 21 split times before. It's simple to review/recall each one too. The band is nice, easy on easy off and it stays secure. I'm proud to wear this Ironman Triathlon watch. Great price too. I would recommend to any athlete.

White is a great color, but the silicone at the clasp will eventually discolor to a green as it wears there after a year (nicked a star for that). For the price, I don't mind. It has nice features, two time zones (second time zone on start/stop middle button push - or military time for me 9:41PM or 21:41 on start button push), alarm, timer, countdown etc. that you expect from Timex. It is lightweight (I weighed it at 1.4oz) and conforms to my wrist. The design is understated, tasteful and its white color is something different from the run of the mill black or grey color you always see on everyone's sport watch. The Indiglo light works like a charm and the buttons are good sized but won't accidentally get triggered by bending your wrists. This 41mm size and its feature makes it a great watch deserving of the Ironman name.

I think this watch has been very well designed by someone who has thought about the functions and used the watch. It has so many good features. The date is customisable you can have it as mmdd or ddmm for people outside the USA - Casio you miss this so badly. If you press the light it then stays on all the time you press other buttons - such a nice touch, well done. The digits are big so I can read without my glasses - Casio take note. The alarm is loud enough to wake me up and it repeats 5 mins later. I didn't give it 5 stars because I wish it was a 10 out of 10 in design looks instead of a 9 out of 10. Having said that the design is good and not the stupid fake plastic screws and design taken from Transformers that Casio go for.Well done Timex you might have won me over from Casio.

I give this watch an instant 5 stars, just for offering something in a white color scheme, a great escape from all the billions of black colored watches worn everywhere. The watch looks cool and modern especially with certain clothing I wear on vacation. It's got a simple display with large numbers. A standout among watches, really a winner.I've had it almost 1- 1/2months and like the styling, color even more! Sadly, like others have said, the beautiful white watch band has developed a yellow - orange discoloration and I am so disappointed in that. And I have determined it is not staining. Rather it is the cool white coating wearing away, revealing the natural color of the plastic underneath.I still love the heck out of this watch and hope Timex resolves the white coating problem.

Pros:Great workout watchGood timer and chrono featuresEasy to understand and use interfaceCons:Lighting is only the numbersWhite version picks up other colors and won't wash offWatch band holder brokeConclusion:This was the first of two I've owned of this model of watch and it has set itself up as my goto sports watch. The biggest down side was that the underside started to pick up a graying color from contact with my desk at work, and no simple cleaning method cleaned that off. I finally retired the watch after the band that holds the strap cracked and broke after 10 months. Considering the price I'm not too upset at how long it lasted, but if my new model (the black one) has the same issue, then I'll probably just replace the band and not the whole watch.

I wanted a watch that wasn't too large on my small wrist, had some sort of stop watch feature, and would not break easily. The watch meets my criteria. The only issue I have are sensitive buttons, but I haven't yet found myself in a situation where this is a problem. Also, if you use the lapping system (I haven't figured out how to turn the laps off) there is a lag time between each start and stop of each lap where you don't see the time running. The time comes back on within a second or two. It still counts the time for which it did not show, but it's just kind of annoying to wonder if you hit the button or not. It's worth the price.

Really good watch for timing your runs. I only really use the chronometer (Apart from normal watch function). Very easy to use and it also allows for split times in the chronometer. Simple - press button to start press button to stop, press twice to reset, what could be simpler. There are a couple of comments about it being difficult to unhook the watch strap when removing as it has a dimple on the holding loop which fits in a hole on the actual strap.. This is to stop strap coming loose and can be resolved in 5 seconds. Spin the loop around so that the dimple is on the other side of the strap.I havent used the other functions yet.

It's just what i wanted, something that was simple with all the basic functions and not a lot of junk i'd never use. It is very easy to use and set up, the bank is large to fit big or small wrists. The band is nice and white as I have always worn black watches and this is a nice change. I have not gotten it dirty yet and don't plan on working on my car with it as people have said it is hard to clean once dirty. I wear it at the gym and at work so I don't anticipate any grease or other stains messing it up. The face is big but not too big, it looks like a man's watch for sure. I didn't want anything too small. Great purchase i made.

14.2.2016

I bought this because I work in Physical Therapy and need to accurately keep track of a patient's performance during treatment, as well as the time (obviously). The chrono comes in handy for this, and the timer helps as well when it comes to stretches. Beyond the PT clinic, I also wear this a lot at the gym. My gym has a serious lack of clocks (for some odd reason), and this watch is comfortable enough to wear during tough workouts. Plus, it's water resistant, so I don't worry about sweating while wearing it! It's comfortable, functional, and the Indiglo is the perfect brightness for dark conditions. Easy to set and use.
