This is potentially the craziest FPS game I have ever played. One of the first games I got for the PS2 and I was very unerved by the strange characters that you choose to be as your main characters throught the missions. The on that will stay in everyones mind is the Mansion with the zombies where only head shots will kill them, with the mutated priests with sawn of shot guns ready to take you out from afar, difficult on easy and almost insane to try it on hard. The main missions in the game are fairly simply, reach this part of the level, kill the people on the way and grab the item to return to the start and survive the Timesplitters trying to kill you. They do have their own settings with the Mansion as menitoned a big one,you have one in China and Docks which are plesant and again the characters are great when you select them to see their mini monolauge. The problem being these levels are short and to tie in with the frantic game play a lot of this game is really smash and grab and certainly luck based in some sense depending how you play it, the nine levels will be completed fairly quickly initially but you will have to complete in a time limit and certain difficulty to unlock them. The meat of the game I found is multiplayer that I played countless hours, you have the basic maps and weapon select with few other options but the biggest one being a map editor which was rarer at the time. Bots are allowed and fairly useful but slightly mental you really can die very quickly ,very easily, sound effects get ridiculous and you just try and get back into it. TOverall I still have a good time playing this game, I would love this as a remake as mine and a lot of other people's favourite, it could do with a bit more polish though but overall a solid game.Pro Neg+ Frantic, Fun Shooting - Story Mode Overshadowed+ Interesting Characters - Sometimes Too Frantic+ Map Editor

I bought a number of high profile games when my PS2 was delivered, and picked up this one as an afterthought. And, much as I like SSX and the rest, this is the game I play the most. Why? Well, it's just superb! The game is a first person shooter, similar in concept to "Quake" or "Duke Nukem". You run around with big guns, blasting anything that moves. One player mode initially enables you to tackle a number of set scenarios, all of which are "Go in, find an object, kill anything that gets in your way, and get back out again", at three levels of difficulty. Completing sets of missions in this "story" mode unlocks more missions and new deathmatch arenas ("arcade" mode),where you and your friends can kick each other about in a split screen environment with little or no graphical slowdown. Up to 4 players (and up to 10 "bots" - computer characters with good intelligence) can take part, and this is where the game scores big. It's big, it's visually stunning, it's fast, it's exciting, and by jingo you'll be up 'til the wee hours exacting revenge on your closest friends for hitting you with that rocket launcher! Even the computer characters achieve a certain level of notoriety, and you'll find yourself hunting down your favourite victims and annihilating them as if they were human players. And you'll laugh a lot while you're doing it! There's also a "challenge" mode, where the completion of rather tough assignments unlocks characters to play, new bot sets, and yes, more challenges. I find it hard to fault this superb game, and would recommend anyone with a PS2 and a competitive streak to buy a copy, get a multitap, and invite some friends over.

What can I say; superb! The first time I put the little purple disc in the tray it never came out for hours upon end, and I was by myself. The next day I was straight on the phone to 3 of my mates for a day of frag-festing on this magnificent game. One of the funnest games i've ever played; my mates and I were constantly in stitches.Okay, so the storyline in one-player mode isnt the best of all time, but who cares? Is anyone really that fussy (or even sad) enough to rate this game low just because of stupid minor details like that? Every game has flaws, nothings perfect so quit complaning, stick the timesplitters game in the PS2, phone some mates and get battling. Anyone who buys this game will not be dissapointed. It was one of the 1st games I got for my PS2 on launch day (along with SSX, Ridge Racer 5, Tekken Tag and Aqua Aqua) and i've never gotten bored of it since. And another point i'd like to make; an earlier review said that the graphics were ropey and nothing special. Have you even played the game? The graphics are top notch, and even with 14 players on the screen (10 CPU bots and 4 human players) the speed of the game is always VERY fast. There are no slowdowns at all in the game. Roll on timesplitters 2! I recommend this game to everyone, even people who dont normally like 1st person shooters. If you have a PS2 then go out and buy this now if you havent already done so.

It's been a while. This game is old now, you can count the pixels on the guns. And you know what?I don't care.Timesplitters is a great game to play with mates offline. Get yourself some snacks, drinks, and dive into run and gun action.Even though it shows it's age the play is still smooth and responsive, the action is fast and wild, and the weapons availible are wide and varied.Play with two of you up to four, run and gun on loads of brilliant maps and gametypes like capture the bag, bag tag, deathmatch, and point defence. Have up to 10 bots of various difficulties if you gwt bored of shooting each other...hours of fun, just pick up a controller and go for it.This is what offline multiplayer should be today, but so few games feature it.The game also includes a story mode which is a little repetitive and is either too easy or impossible. Which can grate a bit, but you can play that with two of you as well to halve the frustration. Also features a map-editor to create your own multiplayer maps, which can take a while but it well worth it.If you still have a PS2, you are missing out if you are missing a copy of Timesplitters.

With such a vast number of games already available for Sony's new machine, including the Playstation efforts as well, it is hard to choose which games to buy. However, Timesplitters is undoubtably one of them. At a glance, it is just a shoot-em-up. Spend some time with it, and you see a classic that will be remembered alongside Tekken, Resident Evil, SSX and Tomb Raider. There is a clear tongue-in-cheek feel about it, and an assurance that you will have fun. With a wealth of great characters, each with theit own introduction; an assortment of levels to make you drool; three difficulty levels; a number of multi-player games and scenarios; and a brilliant map-maker that is extremely easy to use,it is hard not to enjoy it. As you progress, challenges become available for you to complete. These can range from keeping hold of a brain inside a bag for a set time period, to shooting as many uzi-toting ducks as possible. TimeSplitters is one of, if not, the game to own from the PS2 collection.

The first game I owned on the PS2 and I am glad too say I have never regreted the purchase. Although the story line of the single player mode is a bit lame the gameplay is great. The bonus levels and charaters that you can earn completing the single player mode are also well worth it (where else are you challenged to shoot 100 gun wielding ducks in 5 mins or less?) However, the game really comes into its own when played with friends in a frenetic deathmatch mode. (What do you really expect from the same guys that came up with Goldeneye on the N64). It maintains its furiously fast gameplay even up to its maximum of four simultaneous players (with multitap peripheral) and is just the biggest laugh ever!Buy it now.

This is an amazing game, no dought worth buying. Probably it's best aspect is the create level option, and the story mode is exellent. The graphics are [on the whole] very good. The characters aloung with the story line is original, although they dont play an active part in the game. Its not perfect, because the bases of the game is good, but there are lots of picky falts about it that are you could,t point at perfect dark. Not that im keen on comparing the two games. The main falts are; the pieces on the base creator are limetid, there is no blood, you can't order your men around [and there stupid] the arcade mode is a bit boring on your own, because the bots arnt very good[the multi player is incredible.

Oh my God!, this game is it. The single player game is fun, but not as good as other games (fps) I have played (Quake III on my PC springs to mind), BUT....Get a multitap, invite your friends round and off you go!!! Choose a good level, load it with the best weapons (2 x Minigun a must!) and get blasting!! You soon go Kill crazy and the loading time between repeats of the carnage become unbearable. It has been a long time since I have played a game which has kept me up until Dawn. I cannot recommend this highly enough. Forget one player and go straight to multiplay!! No frame rate slow down either.Timesplitters! We who are about to die Salute you!

Great price for a classic game. I'm visually impared and can't do the story mode, so I love the arcade mode as I can see to play that. It has a lot of options which is is great such as bot difficulty, plenty of weapons, plenty of bot types etc. However I have tried the story mode and did manage to do some of it, and do love the simplicity, so far it has been go there kill him, go there kill him etc. My only complaint is since I couldn't get past the first level of story mode I'm stuck with only 3 maps for arcade. I know you can unlock more, but 3 still isn't a lot to start off with. So overall a great simple game that is a classic for a reason.

This video game was an early first person shoot 'em up for the PlayStation 2.The level design is quite simple in this they put quite a few levels in it where you just go around with different types of guns and shoot at anything that moves ,within a time limit. It has a time travel sort of story to it too. The studio made 2 sequels to this video game after this. It features a great split screen section where u can play against the computer or a friend and you unlock main characters for it as you make progress throughout the campaign mode. They must of had over 50 characters to unlock in it.

I have recently purchased a PS2 with the brilliant timesplitters and I have to say I am amazed. I own both goldeneye and perfect dark for N64 but timesplitters multiplayer just blows them away. It's fast, frantic, fun with some of the best weapons I've ever seen! If you want a high carnage, action packed shoot'em up for ya PS2 (or any console) then look no further, buy a multitap, buy timesplitters, invite over some mates and start enjoying this fantasic game!

Excellent game, since purchsing it I have hardly stopped playing it in my free time. I never owned a PS1 and it was actually the DVD that brought me to PS. This game makes me glad that I did. After one evening I could not understand the fuss about this game. But as I am improving, layer after layer is opening up and I am getting more and more hooked. Superb and extremely smooth graphics, great bots, imaginative levels. Top game, buy it.

This game is absolutely lovely, the graphics are smooth and by far one of the best games I have seen in a long time, guaranteed to keep you entertained and coming back for more with the various modes -inc. deathmatch, capture the bag and bag tag and I haven't even got into the two or four player modes yet.;-)Buy it.

Very tricky to find elsewhere, as this game was made exclusively for PS2. Very satisfied with the purchase; it arrived on time and in good condition. However, I now have two copies, as my best friend DID find it elsewhere and didn't tell me.Oh well, just a testament to how good the game is - we bought it twice!

A very enjoyable game for any gamer that once had or still enjoys getting their PS2 out, got this to play with a friend and have to say the story mode did give us a few hours of fun even though it was a tad on the short side. A call back to my childhood.
