review for Tile Pro, Black==================Pro: Replaceable battery, Good looking, rugged and well made, Light, Easy to Attach to objects, Works majority of the time, Crowd finding system, Alexa Support, Loud. Can use phone to ring the Tile and the Tile to ring your phone. Rings phone even if the phone is in silent mode. Mobile AppCons: Expensive, Requires subscription for all features==================Finally a battery version of the tile! I have been looking at the Tiles for a long time, but the original closed versions put me off. The battery does come at a cost of the tile being water resistant rather than water proof - although this does puzzle me a little - how much would it costs to add a rubber seal around the battery compartment?Maybe it's to keep the costs down - at a whopping £29 at the time of writing it's quite steep for a single bluetooth tracker, considering there are a lot of other cheaper ones available.Whilst testing the tile, I used a Samsung S8 with the Tile Pro. Whilst the phone was unlocked I found no problems ringing either device from each other. However with the screen locked, I found the Tile Pro was a bit hit and miss ringing the phone - this was even with the Tile just a few cm’s from the phone!!! Not sure if this is a Tile issue or the phone issue. The Tile is refreshing loud, although you still need to be near the tile if it's buried under a mound of clothes or in a deep pocket. The app looks good and when you open the Tile app it connects to the tile - you get a round green circle which turns solid when it connects. You have the option to rename each tile in the app.The app also has a map which also tells you how many other tile users are around you - it reports 734 other Tile users in my town - this could be quite useful if deciding whether to buy more tiles - if you lose a tile, you mark it as lost in the app and if a fellow ‘Tiler’ walks past your the app will apparently tell you. If you are looking for the crowdsource option for finding lost Tiles, The Tile pro will likely beat the other cheaper bluetooth trackers for number of users, (I am of course assuming the Tile App is telling me the truth!).The problem with the last seen option is the Tile needs to connect to the app so chances are pretty high your last seen location is most likely to be at home whereas you may have actually lost your keys away from home. The Tile comes with a premium subscription service which seems a little overpriced for what you get. You can share the tile with unlimited users, a beta smart alerts function, location history, warranty and replacement battery.I’m currently on the fence whether I should buy more tiles - I can see them being quite useful for all the house keys, bags etc, but the costs would quickly escalate if I was to equip the whole family. A major influence on this is the very high cost for each tile. Sure you can buy them in packs, but they still end up being very expensive.Obviously being a bluetooth device, the bluetooth on your phone has to be on. The thing I am also not sure on are the number of bluetooth devices - at the time of writing the maximum number of connected devices on android are 5 and slightly higher in IOS. I mean I have about ten bluetooth devices already paired to my device, I just don't connect to them all at the same time - wondering if the app is clever enough to cycle through the tiles or if it will ‘clog’ up my bluetooth, if I end up buying more than a couple of Tiles. On an academic level and for those that are paranoid / security conscious, the tile does bring a certain amount of big brother element to this. You are effectively being tagged to a location over the day since it's likely you are carrying your keys or tile protected item around with you. What happens if the Tile Pro servers get hacked etc. what about other ethical usage such as slipping your tile into someones bag etc to ‘follow’ them, or being followed by others. On the other hand, is it good enough to protect your children if they carry it with them for your piece of mind? But that's outside the scope of this review.Overall I think I like what I am getting for now - I am always misplacing the keys at home and a quick call to alexa to ring them comes in very handy, especially when I am in a rush leaving for work. I might buy another one and see what the usage is like over the year before deciding if I need more..

This is an updated version of Tile's tracker system - designed to locate misplaced keys, bags, suitcases or anything else a tile is attached to. The most significant element of the update is that you can now replace the battery in the tile. Previously tiles lasted for a year and then required replacement, although you could get these replacements at a bit of a discount direct from the manufacturer. This 'Pro' tile is a little more robust than the standard version - which also now has a replacement battery. It's water resistant and, in theory at least, has a bluetooth range of up to 300 metres. The built-in alarm which allows you to locate the lost item if you're in bluetooth range is also significantly louder. To use the tile you need to download the Android or iOS app to your phone or tablet.I've used other trackers which I've found to have a pitiful battery life and very limited functionality. The tile system is different and more reliable. I tend to particularly use it when travelling and will activate the app just after I've left a hotel for example to check I have items like bags, wallets and passports.Tiles are less helpful when finding items which are completely lost and which are out of bluetooth range. Then you'll see a map of where the tile was last recorded to be which may or may n to be helpful. However, in effect you can crowdsource the location of the missing item by, via the app, getting another tile user to automatically locate your tile if they happen to be in bluetooth range. With power hungry GPS solutions not practical this is about as good as it gets with this type of technology.I think the additional cost for the Pro tile is probably worth particularly as this is more of a long-term purchase now the battery can be changed. I think it's the best technical solution currently available. It is irritating that 'advanced' features can only be activated through a monthly subscription charge but for most users the 'free' service is adequate. Notwithstanding this Five stars. It’s also worth noting that the subscription, £30 if you pay in full for a year, does include the supply of replacement batteries annually from Tile which reduces, in effect, the cost. Plus the subscription remains the same no matter how many tiles you have so if you have a lot the battery replacement might cover the full cost.

I’m the kind of person that occasionally drives to work without his access card; or leaves the office to go home without my keys. Sometimes things just like to play hide and seek with me; especially first thing in the morning when i want to go to work. I bought a couple of Tile Sports and attached one to my ID badge and one to my work keys. As a result the hiding has come somewhat to a middle. Tiles are small square things you can attach to things via key loops or sticky dots. The Tile sport was a small square device which you pair into the Tile App. Basic features; like where are my keys are free - more advanced features like - hey you are about to go to work without your access card cost a monthly fee. They work by Bluetooth and your app can find your tokens - and if they sniff out someone else’s they report that into the cloud - so if you forget your keys and another tile user is nearby you will get location even if you are at home. (IF there aren’t any tile users around it shows the last location.) So for absent minded people like me they are excellent. The worst feature of the tile sport's is they have a life of one year at which point they become e-waste.The Tile pro fixes that environmental crime; there is a slide on the back that lets you swap in a near ubiquitously available CR2032 lithium button cell. Adding replaceable batteries has made the tile ever so slightly larger than its predecessor - but that size increase has allowed them to increase the usable range which is handy if your office is sprawling like mine and your keys are on a colleagues desk. The positioning isn’t GPS but you can still send an alert that makes the tile beep - and if you are in the spot where you have your key but not your phone double pressing on the tile makes your phone chime. This feature is also handy to get away from people; click click oh sorry I need to take this call ;). The tile sport did minimise forgetting where I threw my keys in the morning. The Tile pro's longer range and replaceable batteries mean the relationship can keep going.

I've always been interested in Tile but the original's non-replaceable battery was a deal breaker for me. Now you can pop in a new CR2032 when the old one dies. Simple and overdue.Tile is not super cheap but it creates a great impression when you crack open the very lovely packaging. The Tile itself looks 'premium' and feels solid and sturdy. Plus, it's small and slim and light enough to go on your keyring or in your wallet and not really be noticeable. As with everything these days there's an app to download. It sets up your Tile in a couple of minutes and you can then make your Tile bleep (it's loud and tuneful and you can set the volume) from your phone, or make your phone bleep from your Tile. From up to 300 feet away. All this works as advertised and is very good. You can even set up a Siri command from an iPhone. The really clever bit is when you're out of Bluetooth range and you can potentially see where your Tile is on a map based on data other Tile users receive from your Tile to locate it (by extension, you're receiving and sending data about other people's Tiles too). Here in the city, the app tells me today that there are 750 Tile users nearby so that should work pretty well. Out in the wilds, perhaps not so well. It's pretty clever, but relies on you allowing the Tile app constant access to your phone's location services and so on. Do we trust this sort of thing? I wonder. The app encourages you to sign up and pay (about three quid a month) for extra services, like the most useful that tells you when your phone and your Tile are too far from each other, like when you leave your keys in a café or something. Other paid services show you a 30-day history of where your Tile has been, and you get 'free' replacement batteries. If you're prone to losing things I think there's enough value in the 'free' system. Just. The product is well made and works well, and the app simple to use for anyone. Not sure about the paid extras, but you will have to decide that for yourself.

I have been using Tile bluetooth trackers for the past three years. I have found them to be indespensible for someone like me who is inherently forgetful. Long gone are the days when I spent precious minutes looking for my keys on a morning before work. Now, whenever my possessions go missing (or I put them in a 'safe place'), I know they are only a call away from my phone. Perfectly simple. Certainly a step up from the old whistle to find key finders of the 1990s and 2000s!Firstly the Tile Pro looks wonderful. It is made of higher quality materials than the standard Tile Mate and feels like it is made to last. The battery compartment is held firmly in place so it is unlikely that it will come off without intentional force being applied. This was certainly a worry when I saw a model had been released with a replacement battery! The sound and range is greater than my Tile Mate too, so I have no reason to dispute Tile's claims in these areas.Connecting the Tile Pro was as simple as ever. Open the app, press add new Tile and follow the on-screen instructions. It only takes a few minutes and everything works well. Tile's business model is changing, and therefore more features have been introduced which require a low monthly subscription. It isn't expensive, and in return Tile send replacement batteries through the post. The subscription service isn't essential and I haven't taken it out despite having over 8 Tiles registered, as I just don't feel like I can justify the cost for the additional features provided. As more features are added maybe I will reconsider. In conclusion I recommend the Tile Pro to everyone. It has great range and can connect to my phone upstairs when the Tile is downstairs. It can also be used to find my phone when I lose that with a double tap of the function button, and the Alexa skill lets me find my keys and phone using voice commands when I don't feel like using the app. All round a wonderful product and service!

This Tile Pro with Replaceable battery looks and feels well made and will fit on your keyring without being too bulky. The battery is an easily obtainable CR2032 button cell which fits behind the securely fitted cover on the Tile.Overall I found setup quite easy and the Tile App (in my case for Android although it's available for IOS too), you need to set up an account and there's the usual verification via email or PIN. You then connect the Tile by placing it next to your phone and thereafter you can locate your cherished item to which you've attached the Tile by pressing a button in the app provided the Tile is in range. The Tile gives a reasonably loud but friendly audible warning and you'll find your keys etc.One disappointment is that unless you subscribe to the Premium service there's no geofencing, so you could leave your keys in a bar and once out of range that's it! The Premium service is modestly priced at around £30 a year which includes replacement batteries. There is a community find system where other Tile users can help find your product but it's an unknown quantity.Overall, the Tile system is helpful as most us are likely to mislay keys etc. in our home and within range of our mobile phone - in that case, it works well. Where it could be less helpful is where you move out of range of the keys etc. and say, after a couple hours of travelling realise you've mislaid them by leaving them en route - that will be the test of the Tile user community - "crowd finding".In summary, this Tile system works well locally but has limited usefulness where you mislay the item and then travel after having lost it unless you get lucky and a fellow user assists you.

I've looked at Tile products before but always been put off by the fact that the battery was not user replaceable. This "pro" version changes that and is a considerable improvement on the product in my opinion. You need to download the app to your smartphone (iPhone or Android) before you can start using your Tile Pro. I've attached my Tile Pro to my keys (I am always losing them!) and when activated by the app on my iphone, it makes a pretty loud enough noise; certainly loud enough to enable you to hear it from anywhere in the house if you live in a pretty ordinary size house. Conversely, if I lose my phone, I can press the button on the tile and my phone starts making a loud noise.I guess if I lose them both I'm in trouble.... You need to be in Bluetooth range of your Tile in order for it to work. You can probably think of other things you often misplace as well as keys. So, you can get additional Tile Pros for those two and give them a different name of the app. There are additional features which you can get by signing up the Tile Premium subscription which includes the ability to see where your tiles have been over the past 30 days which some people might find quite handy. You can also get a replacement for the cell battery when it dies, and an extended 3 year warranty amongst other things. At £2.99 a month though, for most people, this option won't seem like value for money.Overall though, I like the Tile Pro. I am always losing my keys and this little square addition to my key ring means I spend less of my day searching for them.

Having owned the previous Tile Sport I was happy to place an order for the pro with a replaceable battery to be safe in the knowledge that the device itself would be a longterm, more environmentally friendly investment. However, within 24 hours of owning the Tile Pro I uncovered what can only be described as the most annoying quirk ever. For some reason the button on the pro is larger and easier to press. This is not good when the device is attached to your keys, either in your pocket or if your juggling taking shopping out the car whilst holding your keys. What follows is the musical find my phone feature of the app, where as when the button is pressed the phone loudly plays a tune until you can acknowledge the activation on the phone itself. This is not helpful or funny when it happens several times a day.Although I did very occasionally have this issue with the Tile Sport; it was not anywhere near as annoyingly regular, and would activate maybe once a month. The Pro however seems to like to make itself heard at least once a day, and on one occasion it activated the phone four times before I found the useful feature within the app to disable the find phone feature (probably a feature resulting from feedback from annoyed customers).Honestly, the Tile is a robust, solid and reliable product. I do recommend this and I am largely happy with it, however I would also recommend deactivating the find phone from Tile feature if you want to keep your sanity and not wake the house every 5 minutes when grabbing your keys!

I’ve used Tile Mate and Tile Slim for a few years now. They are expensive BUT not compared to the cost of replacing locks if you lose your keys, or what you might lose if you can’t find your purse. It’s not just losing them outside that’s a worry, even if you know they are in the house somewhere, that’s not much good if you are late for work, or an appointment, looking for the mislaid item. These Tiles have saved my bacon many times.I am so glad that these new Tiles have replaceable batteries for the first time. It seemed such a waste to have to throw the unit away after about a year before. The Tile Pro is the same shape and size as the Tile Mate and it is more rugged although I didn’t have a problem with the Tile Mate. The Pro however has a longer range (300m) and, best of all, a much louder ring so use one where the unit might be buried under stuff - for example in the bottom of your bag. It would be essential if you’re a little hard of hearing or wanting to use it in noisier places as the original Tiles are not very loud, even when new.In future, I will choose the Pro, as long as the price is reasonable. Shop around by the way as prices vary, a lot. There are new add ons (via the app) which so far I have not bothered with. Tile Premium offers free replacement batteries and smart alerts, to let you know if 6ouve left Home without something, eg your keys or wallet.

Handy bit of kit. Like the fact it finds my phone or tablet when I leave them somewhere. I'm one of those people who lose everything regularly so I've been meaning to buy one for years. I opted for this item now the battery can be replaced. Thought it an option too expensive before this update, but seeing as they finally managed this plus I purchased 4 for roughly 20 quid each it seemed a bargain. One for me and one each for my two children that carry my key losing genetic defect. Leaving me a spare one which I'm debating sticking in a tool box or placing in my luggage on my next holiday..My only gripe (so far ?) is that you need to leave the app on all the time on any device/s you want to use to find it & vice versa. It uses a considerable amount of battery life and I tend to close all my apps in one go and forget to leave the "Tile" app running which always the moment I can't find my phone. Most frustrating..However on the whole it's a lifesaver. Almost literally as it saves me getting a telling off from the Mrs for asking her to help find my keys or to ring my phone when it's stuffed down the sofa.. ?Later edit: Does have its moments when it completely fails to find anything including the tile itself. Bit of a p*sser..

I've used Tile for a few years now as I keep losing my keys and wallet. It's super-simple to use, there's version for both your wallet and your key ring and you simply register with them on the app and any time you can't find something, just hit the button and the tile fob rings. If your fob isn't in range, the app shows you the last time it 'saw' them and where you were at the time so you can get a bit of reassurance that they haven't gone too far. You can also set up an alert that it will notify you next time it is in range. If you've lost your phone, you can use the key fob to find it. Just place the button and use that. Being part of the Tile network you'll also benefit from other people helping find your keys /wallet. As they can also pick it up and you'll know the last time and where it was 'seen'. All in all a great piece of kit that works very well. This pro version essentially comes with a much wider range (up to 100m or so), but it is a bit thicker than previous tiles presumably for a bigger battery. The tile's generally last about a year on their battery, there's various you tube videos out there on how to change the battery, though tile do have a replacement programmed that they'd obviously prefer you use!

I’ve used Tiles for a couple of years, and chose this Tile Pro to replace a Tile Mate that I keep on key ring (Orbitkey). The tile service works pretty well, using it via the iPhone app to keep track of my iPhone, iPad, backpack, wallet and keys, with various models of Tile. I’ve never lost anything per se, but the ability to beep/ring a mislaid item is very useful. The Tile Pro is a little thicker and larger around than the Tile Mate it is replacing; this is an inconvenience, but only a minor one. Although it takes up more room on the key ring, it still closes ok and the difference isn’t noticeable in my pockets. The big difference, and one that everyone who has ever used a Tile of any sort will recognise - Tile Pro supports replaceable batteries!!!There is now no need to buy a new Tile (cheaper from Amazon that via the Tile replacement offers), every 12-15 months. I don’t yet know how long a battery will last, but this has to be better.I think there are some other differences, better range, louder/better rings, tougher, water resistant - but these are minor. The replaceable battery is everything (so long as it lasts more than one or two months at a time; that would be inconvenient).

Much louder than last one. Could be a touch smaller. Can’t comment on battery life (see below) or build as I have had it a day.(a year on its as new)Ok so i bought this on the 15 july 2019, Now on the 13th july 2020 it tells me to replace battery, its guaranteed to last for 12 months, now i am not going to be pedantic and try get a new battery for just two days short of this. BUT its not been used for the last 3/4 months and when reconnected to the app today the first message was replace battery. So is it recommending replace battery just because its a year or is it smarter than that ! i think its the former as in the battery replace pop up you have the option to say you have replaced it,so it seems it cant tell if you have .......you have to tell it, this is wasteful...i know they will say it will make sure it always works ie the battery not going flat etc but i wonder if i click i have replaced the battery how long it will go on for. i know my none replaceable tile went on for ages after battery warning. It should be smarter than this.......I am a fan of tile but i don't like this issue.

I had an earlier version of this but the tone it made was so quiet that unless the keys were right in front of me I could not hear it. When the battery failed I binned its as the battery was not replaceable and it was an expensive key fob. This one is much better. It is claimed to be twice as loud and I have no way of confirming this but it is loud enough to be useful. The big game changer though is the replaceable battery which is a cheap easily sourced button cell. Not sure how useful the ability to locate over distance via the apps on other phones would be but keys are more likely going to be nearby anyway. The button on the Tile top send a tone to my phone has also proved useful and quicker than trying to find my phone by calling it from a landline.I just hope I don't misplace the keys and phone at the same time.
