First, I am new to Panneirs, this is my first set...so glad they came up on Vine, or I would have never realized what I have been missing out on!! I have bought a lot of Thule products... all of them are first class products with excellent customer support. I have used their roof cargo carriers for years. What I love about this concept... it solves the problem of not being able to carry items on your bike. I had a small back pack on my rack, but it was very small. I must have been living under a rock all these years, as these panniers are so perfect for carrying items on your bike. so much I like....Easy installation on my non thule racks.Easy on/off design,so take the packs with you when you park your bike (so someone else doesn't take them). Very clever cable release system... with spring loaded mechanism. Whoever thought of this is brilliant.Strong magnets prevent the bag from flopping around when riding on rough surfaces, wind, etc. Magnets were the perfect "hold still" concept, as they are always in use, and yet, easy on/off.Both grab handles and shoulder straps, superb!!The material is prob. the best combination of thin vs. durable I have ever seen. The roll top is waterproof...although it rarely rains here, so it might take some time to confirm this.Love the reflective stripes on the bag, works incredible at night, yet hardly visible during the day, safety always on a bike - be seen!!Can't think of anything I would change, the product is that well designed. I will be using my bike a lot more now that I can safely haul small cargo...like quick trips to grocery store... I need the added exercise!!!

The Thule panniers are well constructed and cleverly designed. The bags have two major innovations: the material and the mounting system.--The material is a welded construction similar to dry bags or high quality inflatable boats. The material is similar to Hypalon. The roll top closure means there are no zippers to fail or leak. There is a mounting point on the back of the bags for mounting a light or reflector.--The mounting system is truly clever. Pulling the release cable upwards rotates the claw cams about 45 degrees and the bag can simply be pulled outwards off the top tube of the rack. I tested the bag on a Blackburn EX-1 and a Planet Bike rack. It clamped securely on both racks. The lower attachment point is a strong magnet that clamps to the rack and sticks to a steel plate that's laminated into the bag itself. The magnetic attachment points come with three different rubber shims to fit to a variety of rack sizes. Some folks may need to use a turn or two of electrical tape to dial the fit in perfectly to accommodate variations in rack tubing. While I only tested security of the attachment on paved roads, they were quite secure and held securely with about 20 lbs in each bag. The release mechanism was a bit stiff at first but about 10 or 15 actuations for break in made them easy to use.I think these are great panniers, especially for commuter use as the quick of/on, weather resistance, and sturdy construction make them usable grab and go items instead of an exercise in lashing.

Looked at this vs the commuter. Happy with my decision. Straps are long enough, but I keep them on and very short, and it's like having the best of both worlds: I can still use them, but they don't drag into the spokes.Wish you had that smooth surface that the commuter has rather than the bindings knuckling into your back? Just wear the outside/soft side against you and have the hardware face out. Duh. This may end your internal debate as to whether the Commuter is worth those few extra ounces of weight.Only issues are that you don't have a pocket for your phone/keys. That means any time you ask if you have your headphones, you'll need to unroll the whole bag to confirm. The dedicated light holders are just not suited for Knog lights. They don't hold enough tension on the strap, and it'll take more fiddling to put them on. Then you'll need to repeat the process every few rides, seeing as the rechargeable lights don't hold up forever. Finally, you need a round beam on your rack, not the popular spring loaded racks that are popular on many vintage 10-speeds. Even so, the best way to apply the bag is to tilt it up when latching it on. And you'll still think twice if it's on securely-the rope binding doesn't always present both sides to the rack with an even grip.

The Thule Panniers are ultra high end bicycle bags. I love them! We ride bikes at the beach and have always toted our water, wallets, suntan lotion, towels, hoodies, snacks, etc., in backpacks or cross body bags. They weigh me down and get annoying and laborious to lug around. I feel like a knucklehead, but I never knew about bike panniers- maybe because I am just a casual bike rider rather than hardcore cyclist. But now having received these Thule Panniers, I think anyone who rides a bike should have a pair as they make any bike ride where you have anything to tote so much more enjoyable.I'm truly impressed with how the Thule Panniers attach so easily and perfectly even though I don't have a Thule rack or a high end bike. Each Thule Pannier has two latches (adjustable by an attached cord) that simply clip onto the upper part of my bike rack, and then a rubber ring with a magnetic attachment secures to a lower position on the rack that connects to the Pannier via a hidden magnetic panel in the Pannier itself. The metal connection keeps the Pannier from flopping around and getting in the way. It's really a fantastic design. My pictures are intended to show how the Pannier attaches to a regular inexpensive bike rack and the generous size of the Large Pannier.

This is a really nice pannier for use when I have a rack on the bike. I do not normally keep a rack on the bike (the rack that goes over the tire) but have a nice one that just clips on to the seat post. This fits on it nicely and holds a lot of stuff. Everything in it feels secure and the straps allow me to just to snap it off and carry it like a messenger bag when I get off the bike. It is very easy to put on and just as easy to take off to carry with you. Everything in the bag stays dry and clean (I would not take it out in rain, but if I ever get caught in rain I feel confident this would keep it all safe).I do wish it did not have a powerful magnet in the bag as I am paranoid about magnets and electronics so I do not carry my tablet or laptop in this bag (it might be fine, but I am just paranoid). This bag is really high quality and smallest amount of light reflects off of it which is nice. It included two panniers (I assume one for the front and one for the rear, but I only use them in the rear). They are really nice and easy to open and hold a lot of content. They are great bags that are easy to load and unload and carry on the bike and off, they are great for city riding!

These are very durable, nice, and secure panniers. I admit that I've always used Thule for this kind of product, so I was thrilled to get this to review. The material is very thick and should hold about anything I ever put in it. Mounts are sturdy. I haven't had it out in a rainstorm, but I'm pretty confident that my materials inside would be fine. The reflective material is also surprisingly effective. Compare the attached photo (flash photo) with the stock image of the pannier. Wow! I will update if needed, but these appear to be a rather bomb-proof and solid pannier. If you need panniers, I think you won't be disappointed with a purchase of these. They are mid-sized,but do check that your materials will fit first!

I will keep this short and sweet:These are absolutely awesome. The quality of materials and construction are truly top notch, I used to have military gear with carriers that were not this strong and water resistant. I simply cannot imagine anyone needing better gear than this, not even if you were biking Everest. The quick releases for detaching from the frames are strong, sure and easy to use. The hard side internal panels add great structural stability as well as being able to stabilize the loads via magnets. When you have to walk, the side loops allow for shoulder straps to be attached. I'm truly impressed by the quality and functionality that Thule has put in these Pannier.Highly Recommended!!!

Could not be happier with these bags. I've recently started commuting to work by bike, and needed a waterproof, semi-reflective bag that fit a standard rack. These bags are just as tough as they appear. Love the quick-release system and they hold a pretty decent amount of items. In one bag I was able to fit my work clothes, a towel, a pair of shoes, and some extra toiletries. It makes me curious just how big the "Large" bags are! They also have little slots on the back to place a light. I put a pair of lights on the back for visibility during morning rides. Fantastic addition!Overall, you'll probably spend more than on other bags, but they are well worth the price!

These are very well made, quality bags. It is made waterproof so even if you get rained on while riding, your contents will be safe. I can tell by looking at the detail work and the fabric that this should last a long time. While these are supposed to be small bags, I find that they are plenty big for all of our things that our kids would need. You unbuckle it and it unrolls to open.It is also easy to install on a standard bike and couldn't really feel it too much when riding the bike. It keeps it all level and gets us from point A to point B with all of our stuff. I am happy with these and thinking of getting another pair so both our bikes have these bags.

I love these bags. They are very nicely made with terrific reflectivity. The top edges are reinforced and fold cleanly for closure. These bags fit on my bike's existing ( non-Thule) rack. I bike to the grocery store and back and I can fit my whole load of groceries in these bags with a well balanced ride home. I like the inclusion of a strap to carry the bags when you are not on your bike. These will also make wonderful camping and canoeing dry bags if you are of a mind to multi-purpose everything (as we are). We also RV camp and smallish dry bags are enormously useful on long trips. Well built versatile and very useful. Another great product from Thule.

Sturdy, spacious, useful. After a few weeks, I did find tiny clear plastic ball bearings in the bottom of the pannier that got the most heavy use (carries my laptop), but it still works fine. The reflective elements and bright colors make me feel much safer at night, as well. The only negative is not really a negative: I find myself carrying more weight because I have so much room!I use these panniers with an off-brand rack. The conversion kit for the magnetic fixtures was easy to use.

20.5.2016

I was a little skeptical about the magnetic attachment on this pannier, but after using it for about a month now it has been working very well. I generally carry about ten pounds worth of laptop/work stuff packed into just one pannier with no issues. 3 or 4 times I've loaded up on groceries, and again, had no issues with it staying put on my bike. Rainproof material. Pretty okay shoulder strap.I use a Salsa Adventure rack and it clips on, no problem.

27.11.2015

good bags; got them mounted to my trek 920 and they're perfect! the pivoting mount latch system is solid and the magnetic retaining hardware that the bags come with do a solid job of keeping them from swaying about during my rides; haven't even come close to worrying about a dropped bag yet. been caught out in the rain with these things a handful of times already, as well; happy to report that everything they've hauled so far has stayed perfectly dry.

25.4.2016

There are a couple of small pockets inside, but nowhere really to stash keys. That's really the only thing lacking. The magnets are a little tricky to get on, but overall the rig works nicely. I have an Ibera PakRak but hate all their bags -- no special adjustments needed to support these panniers. The small bags are about the size of a small Timbuk2 messenger, which is what I was riding with before.

Like every other Thule product purchased over the past 40 years this pannier is top notch. The attachment system was a bit of a challenge and cured with the addition of an aluminum tube of proper diameter to the rack. Soooo easy to attach and detach, nice size, best grade material and design. I recommend these Thule's to riders needing flexible, tough, good looking for the best panniers.
