Despite the picture showing the older (near identical) shifter, it was the newer th8a shifter i bought for use on ps4 with t300rs wheel. As well as the usb lead you may expect, it also comes with the small din lead (like an old pc ps2 keyboard socket) connector which plugs directly into the t300. The shifter itself is a nice bit of kit. It benefitted from being a little tighter than its default (done by turning a screw through a hole in the base). Its not a small item but ist overly large either. The gear lever itself is perhaps a little longer than i would like, but its ok. Changing the standard gear knob for any 8mm thread third party item is easy enough as it just screws on.The only part of the whole kit i didnt like was the supplied gear knob, its cheap and tacky with very little weight to it and in my mind let the rest down. The steel portion of the top of the knob was not perfectly aligned with the rubberised lower part and was genuinely an irritation and at times almost painful when used for a decent session. Personally i would suggest getting a different gear knob and the unit is then perfect for what it does. For anyone looking to source one, the older (discontinued) model has the red ring below the base of the knob, while the newer item does not feature any colour whatsoever beyond silver and black. There are reviews all over the net for this, so all i need to say is that the older version and this are identical apart from the connector so build quality of both is identical. A good choice to go for. It also looks better when you remove the finger trap warning sticker from the surround.

£100 was eye-watering when I purchased this, but the fact that it's such a vast improvement to the stock Logitech G27 shifter makes up for that somewhat. Though you'll never fully be able to fully replicate a car thanks to the vibrations of the metalwork grinding below you, the TH8A does a good job of giving resistance and therefore a lot more satisfaction with every flick of the wrist.Changing to sequential mode is a huge faff; I only did it once and never did it again after discovering it isn't all that special - at least not compared to the manual H-shifter. It takes about 5 minutes to do the swap, and that's just way too long if you're playing a racing game where you're constantly switching between cars with different transmissions.I have the resistance fairly high to replicate a car as much as possible, and as a result it produces a distinctive 'click' every time I throw it into a gate. It's not the end of the world by any means, but it's a little niggling reminder that you're still using a toy - albeit a rather elaborate and swanky one. The throws are long, too, but I personally like that little aspect. Even with long throws, you can still pull off very quick shifts. So make of that what you will, as these flaws can be benefits to some people. It's not perfect, but at the end of the day, it's a gaming accessory and not a real car gear stick. It's not far off though, and the sheer daily pleasure it gives has just - just - about justified its high price.

My first impression of the quality, fit and finish is very good. Very substantial, weighty feel with very little plastic on show and so far I am fairly satisfied with its operation and set up. Literally plug and play, as windows 7 automatically installed the drivers, and it was recognised by my racing Sim first time. Then it was just a case of mapping the shifting positions (buttons). The only reason for awarding 4 stars is my slight disappointment with the actual shifting action. The shaft kind of smoothly slides into place rather than clicking or clunking into place like a real gear shifter. Also, the throw is a bit long for gaming. I have tightened the resistance bolt on the side, but this seems to make the action feel even more unrealistic. Though having said that, the throw and action does remind me of an old VW Passat I used to drive. That too was very smooth, but not positive feeling at all. I feel that with the modern high end sports cars you would drive in a sim this will not quite hit the spot in terms of realistic feel. These irks are not a total deal breaker though, as the G27 shifter it replaces feels like a plastic fisher price toy in comparison.Overall then, while considering the cost of offerings from Fantec and FrexGP, the TH8A seems well priced for what you get. A solid well made piece of apparatus, which is easy to install and set up and provides a significant upgrade from the G27 shifter.

I love the quietness of the shifter, but I went astep further and placed some neoprene foam rubber material in between the H-gates which made it near silent. In comparison to the Fanatec Clubsport shifter which clicks upon each gear change and has less of a feeling of an H-pattern because of it's smaller range of movement between gears, I was satisfied with my choice of purchase. The quality is great with the 90% metal contruction and the adjustable tension is more than adequate of this type of device and this price range.Changing from H-pattern to sequential mode can take one minute or more which is the only real hindrance to the overall ease of use, as it cannot be changed "on-the-fly".The clamp is strong, the gears are 360 degrees rotatable making it robust and ergonomic.Overall, it is a great experience and adds to the keyword 'immersion' many people look for in an addition such as this, particularly if you are using a clutch in tandem with the gear shifter. Occasionally, Amazon lowers the price of this shifter and it is then when I would recommend making a purchase of this item. If you cannot wait, and Amazon is not doing any price offers, but it is still selling at a good price, I would still recommended making the purchase as it improves the complete package feeling of driving a simulator.

Very sturdy, comfortable and well constructed. Detected as soon as I connected it to my PC via the USB. I didn't use the Thrustmaster connection cable as I don't have a TM wheel.I was initially tempted by the Logitech shifter, but reviews mentioned the build quality being low, and the TM shifter being significantly better, and it also happens to be one of the only other options available for a reasonable price.Being able to loosen off the shifter gate and rotate it 360 degrees increases the convenience, and the number of different mounting possibilities. The only game I've not been able to use it with so far is Need for Speed 2015, because that game thinks the shifter is the main controller and it makes the menus impossible to navigate, but that's not the fault of the shifter by any means. The only slight negative is that you have to swap out the shifter gates if you want to switch between this being an H shifter, or sequential, and if you do switch to sequential the movement is kinda loose. You can really use this shifter with confidence, the construction means it withstands aggressive shifting without worrying something is going to snap or wear out, and the movement of the main shaft is spot-on. There are no rough zones and every gear position is easy to shift into.

I now have two of these, one I keep in H gate mode and the other in sequential mode. I can only say that they add immeasurable to any driving sim, and the ability to tailor shift change lenght etc., and then store that in the shifter itself is a great feature. On Windows 10 64 bit, it was recognised immediately and set up was as painless as plugging in, waiting a minute or two whilst Windows did it's thing and then using.Euro Truck Sim, American Truck Sim, Assetto Corsa, Dirt Rally and WRX all recognise the shifter without any problems. I did use on in hand brake mode and that works well, but I thought it was a bit of a waste so bought a Fanatec handbrake and reverted the shifter to sequential.Incontrast the Fanatec was a pain to set up as nowhere in the instructions do they indicate that you need drivers for it!!! No so the Thrustmaster TH8A as I said, plug in and away you go.If you are wondering whether to get one, then my advice would be a big fat YES, it is very well made, beautifully put together and works perfectly.....go for it.Read full review...

Since my logitech G25 I've wanted a more realistic feeling Gear shifter (mainly for Gran Turismo 5) so I decided to take the expensive leap of getting a TH8RS shifter. After hard mounting the shifter to my playseat, I was really enjoying the feel of it when I decided to adjust the resistance for a more car like feel.. it is then that I encountered a problem shortly afterwards.. it started to feel too tight, sticking and a scraping noise was also heard. So I backed off the resistance screw but then it was way too floppy. In the end I had to take the shifter apart and grease up the ball bearing inside as it was totally dry and had not been properly greased. It is working really really well now,but I have to say that the resistance is still nowhere near that of a real car which for £130 I was expecting something a little better. Overall it is a very solid product but I keep thinking that for the price it could and should have been better.

I currently have a Logitech G27 wheel, and the gear shifter that game with it... is rather rubbish. I never liked it and just used the paddle shifters, even on cars with manual gears such as the Lotus 49 (believe me, I tried to like the Logitech shifter). So I saw a review of this shifter on youtube, had some money from my birthday and I figured, why not....The Best Purchase I have made on amazon all year!!! the feel of the shifter feels like a proper car, it really does. the Logitech one felt like a toy, where as this feels like it could be in an actual car. plus you can adjust the tension of it too, e.g. if you like it very light or rather stiff to move, you can do that.although I left it on default because it felt right to me.Driving the Ferrari 312T around Zandvort on Assetto Corsa felt like heaven, the whole experience was amazing!. I cannot recommend this wheel enough, just buy it, you wont regret it.

This is an extremely realistic racing sim gearchange with a 'real' degree of stick movement. The gear position detents are by means of a Ferrari style 'open gate' which, whilst I don't particularly like, having owned a real one in the past, works well in practise, but does need precision of movement. The top plate can be swapped to give sequential up/down changes only. The only possible downside for some is the slightly light gearchange feel compared to a real Ferrari gearchange, but as I want fast lap times over realism, it's perfect in this respectHighly recommended until the new Fanatec Clubsport Shifter appears (if it ever does :( ).Working extremely well with my Fanatec Elite wheel (easily the best on the market for serious driving sim racers)via InfiniteOne's adapter board on XBox360 for Forza and F1 games.

I've had the TH8 for a couple of months now and it's almost boringly good. It feels robust, well built and feels like it'll last forever. However, even at the maximum adjustment, there's not nearly enough friction to stop the gearshift being too easy and fast (shatters my suspension of disbelief that I'm lapping Monaco in a real Ferrari :) ). I bought it to replace the original, sadly demised, G25 gearstick and it's better in terms of quality, feel and noise. But I do miss the useful buttons it had. A thought that didn't occur until I plugged it in.Thrustmaster, if you're listening, I'd make one simple change. Create a blanking plate for gears 7 and 8.I still can't get used to 4 vertical slots when using it (it also looks a little odd). But despite this, I'd heartily recommend.

The TH8A shifter from Thrustmaster is my first upgrade to my sim racing setup. It is a very solid piece of kit made from metal with a plastic outer shell. Overall it feels very premium, especially compared to the plastic and leather G27 shifter I am used to. The shifter features 7 forward gears and 1 reverse, but is completely reprogrammable in all games (at least on PC). Each gear has a nice long throw but lacks resistance, even at it's strongest setting. This is probably due to the combination of a long shifter stick and weak internal resistance. All in all it is a brilliant shifter, with it's only downfall being the lack of resistance, which considering the price is far from ideal and hence why it loses one star.

Not had this very long but so far I'm quite impressed with it. I was surprised at how weighty it was and also impressed with the quality of it too. I have the T150 wheel and bought this to compliment it, and have it set up in sequential shift as I can't yet afford the pedal set, once I have that I will change it over to the gated shift option. Its fairly easy to swap over, tho slightly fiddly. If I could afford it I would have two, one on each side of the wheel and set one in gated and the other in sequential, both LHD and RHD lol, that will deffinatly be a long while off, I need to save for the pedal set before then. All in all, well worth getting if you're into driving/racing games.

Bought this th8a second hand cause otherwise this single stick on an axis would have cost more than my wheelbase. The guy selling this tried to pull a fast one, upon using it the shifter only went into 3rd, 4th and 5th which was incredibly annoying. But on further inspection a very peculiarly placed screw was interfering with the H.E.A.R.T magnets inside the mechanism. Afer that it was flawless, it feel very very solid and the gates know where your stick is going to land. It won't make you faster on the track (unless you go for sequential mode) but it makes for the best driving experience out of the whole add-on range.

perfect once i have got used to it. its quite bulky so if you dont have space you may have issues but this is my only gripe. other review said its difficult to change between h and sequential, i found it quite easy although the screws are longer than required. took 3-5 mins taking my time as i didnt want to cause damage. had to learn to right foot break again but i back up to my top speed again on iracing so all good. would recommend to anyone who doesnt have a shifter, or an upgrade to the kids toy one that you get with the logitech wheel i had (i never used mine as it felt like this) 5 stars

This is great and works well on ETS and ATS I am using this on a wheel stand pro but using the metal plate that came with the stand. It moves and does not feel safe and ridged only because my T150 uses a clamp and not screws on the stand to give it more pressure.Buy the wheel stand pro RGS module upgrade for about £55 to make it better like I am doing soon, you can buy a mod bit of plastic that fits in the gear shaft to make it feel a bit stiffer when changing gears but depends if you want to that and there are videos online showingNice bit of kit to go with any wheel and pedals
