So I'd like to preface this with a brief statement; if you've never assembled your own computer from parts, or if you're at all squeamish about taking your $2000 laptop apart, stop here. If you don't know what you're doing, or worse, you THINK you know what you're doing and mess up, you could potentially ruin your computer. That being said, if you're comfortable going through the short process of placing this conductive pad, you'll be rewarded with far cooler CPU and/ or GPU temps. I have an Asus ROG Strix laptop, and prior to replacing my factory CPU paste, I would routinely see 85-90C CPU and GPU temps under heavy load. After the replacement, I'm hovering around 78C under heavy usage. While that may not seem like a big difference, it actually has a huge impact on longevity of components. Not to mention, there's no more thermal throttling, so it actually improves system performance. The biggest downsides, and it's not really a fault of the product (since it does what it's intended to do), is that it's electrically conductive. That wouldn't be a big deal, if the thermal pad had any sort of adhesive property, but the pad easily slides around on the bare CPU die. One wrong move during installation, and you could potentially cause a short. I suppose you could use some thermal paste to anchor the pad, but what would be the point? So TLDR; if you know what you're doing, and you're comfortable with the possibility of bricking your laptop, this is worth it. Temp drops galore!

These work just fine, I have them on two diffrent Ryzen 5 desktop Processors, an i5,an RX 580 graphics card, an R9 380 graphics card and 3 laptops, all have been tested thourouly before with paste and after applying the Thermal Pad and all show temps that are up to 8°C cooler then the stock pastes. I can say from having them on 6 diffrent computers and 2 graphics cards, they are SUPER EASY to install if you have a brain and the slightest bit of common sense, (yes they are delicate) much cleaner then thermal paste without the worry of it ever drying out, degrading or having to take the cooler off ever again unless somthing else goes bad. Its not the greatest thermally by any means, liquid metal,Kryonaut, or high end pastes will absolutly run cooler.Ignore the reveiws by the idiots who don't know what they are doing and "tearing them apart" or "Hard to intall" its bogus.

Semi-easy to install, if you're careful. Fits the Threadripper IHS perfectly. But you have to be SUPER GENTLE. Treat this "fabric" as if it is made of wet toilet paper. As long as you are gentle, it will be fine.Thermals are great. Getting 27C Idle and 64C at full load with a 1920x at stock settings. I am using an Enermax Liqtech TR4 360mmThe product is very useful for loop maintenance, or if you are testing coolers/CPUs. Or if you just don't want the hassle of repasting in a longterm workstationEDIT: After having it in my system for a six months, I went to do loop maintenance/motherboard dusting, and it ripped when removing the block. It seems that if it is pressed for a long time it adheres to the IHS.Really unfortunate as I was hoping to use it for many years. Keeping the four stars as I have definitely gotten my money's worth

Bought this to replace the paste in my 1U Supermicro server running a Xeon E3-1245v2 (77w TDP) that does Freenas/pfSense.Average Temp dropped around 6 degrees Celsius and keeps the server at a more reasonable volume. The beauty is (in addition to lower temps and lower spinning fans) is that I never have to pull it from the rack and crack it open or worry about the paste drying out.Bottom LineI went into this not expecting miracles or to be blown away like liquid metal installations, but the Carbonaut pad definitely has it's place. As long as you don't expect it to beat a competent liquid metal install or give you a significantly higher overclock, it does it's job and does it well.

I really like this product and I recommend it but not for OC PC's and water cooled builds only for basic non OC builds. I tested it out for 2 month or so with my water cooled build that has a i9 running at 5.0 GHz with a Z390 board with plenty of cooling believe me but after the 2 month I noticed my temps would be in the high 90C with casual gaming. I decided to check and see how the thermal pad was holding up and when I removed the CPU block the thermal pad shrunk to half its size. Yeah I was honestly surprised and as soon as I tired removing the pad it crumbled to little pieces, so yeah I recommend the product just use it for causal builds

Used this when I had to replace a failed AIO cooler (The AIO lasted 8 years which more than anyone could ask for with an AIO cooler) on my aging i7 3770k. It was so nice not having to fiddle screw around with thermal paste. Just slap this puppy on the CPU and forget about it.I ran Prime95 after installing the new air cooler and I can testify this works. It appears to work just as good as thermal paste. I have my i7 on a mild overclock (4.4Ghz) and I've had no issues. For those of you out there that had an Ivy Bridge CPU you know they run very hot. I plan on using Carbonaut on my 5950x build next year.

For the price, I don't think it was worth buying. Especially since there is exactly 1 pad included. However, I am pleased with the result. It was difficult to keep it in place while placing the cooler, but once done it was thermally better than the pre-applied paste on the CPU that it replaced. Granted, it wasn't a perfect A-B test, as I also replaced the stock AMD cooler with a Noctua NH-L12s, *but* the CPU temps did drop by 30 degrees.Overall, I like it, but it would be a better value if at least 2 units were included. When you buy paste, in my experience, there is more than 1 application included.

Installing this pad is nice and simple, and comes in a pretty nice package. As many reviews indicate, it's not super high performance compared to high-end thermal compounds, but it's not terrible. Currently using it with a 3400G, and I'm perfectly satisfied with the performance in my tiny Inwin Chopin case -- the cooler is more of a restraint than the pad!Just be careful handling it, as it does seem to pick up particles and oil from your skin. Probably not a bad idea to gently use rounded plastic tweezers.

I got this because I knew I needed to install and uninstall CPUs several times to do some troubleshooting. It was so nice to not have to scrub grease and re-apply in each instance. Make sure you get the right size sheet for your processor, lay it on top of the CPU and attach your cooler. My R5 5600x runs between 30-65 degrees with this, same as with the Arctic paste. If you swap out parts frequently, or if you just don't like dealing with the mess of thermal grease, I highly recommend.

I have an intel core i7 4790 on my still alive and well Dell XPS 8700. I had to re-apply thermal paste, because I had never done it since I bought the box. Decided to test this one first. I am incredibly happy so far…Temps are on th 30s Celsius when idle, and up to 72 Celsius at full load with the Dell stock cooler ( I still have it, and it works fine) Good product, and no thermal paste needed at least for now. They claim you never have to dismount your CPU cooler again... let us see…

This is a great product for laptops in my opinion. I used this on my Razer Blade pro 2019 which was overheating to around 100c during Modern Warfare gameplay. After I put this on it dropped to about 80c. Just as an FYI I do use throttlestop to cap my 9750h to 50 watts and it still is hitting 4ghz on all cores nearly maxed out. One last thing is it is very easy to tear so be careful and make proper measurements the first time because it’s not a lot.

75 degrees on 3D mark Cpu test with a Noctua. I'm just happy I don't have to worry about changing thermal paste. If you are a perfectionist with builds this thing will test you. Cutting straight lines is a hassle and you don't want to over cut it. It's slightly larger than the Ryzen 5 3rd gen. Placing the heatsink on perfectly straight so it didn't move took me a while also. I wish they could make it sticky some how but I'm not sure if you can.

In 5-10 years this material becomes cheaper everyone will use it.It saves cpu's from being wrecked due to removing burned in thermal paste and cpu cooler/cpu together.I have changed my 1 star to 5 star review after wrecking the pins on the motherboard of a Ryzen 1700 and trying to force it in. It has worked for me in the past but not this time. But using Carbonaut thermal pads can prevent this from happening by AVOIDING thermal paste.

31.12.2019

Keeps my Ryzen 3900x cool under a Noctua D15s. I know thermal paste is probably a degree or two cooler but if you're like me you don't want to have to replace your thermal paste every year or two because it has dried up and lost effectiveness. This pad will never have that problem AND you can easily change out your cooler or take it off when transporting your PC without fear of tearing out your socket due to heavy air coolers.

I thought it there would be a higher temperature difference using this vs paste, but it only came out to be about 2 degrees higher at max load. It is nice not having to clean paste off. The only problem I had with it was keeping it in place, it would slide around with very little force. If you are taking the heatsink off frequently this is a good option.
