I’ve had a Thermarest 1” 3/4 length self inflating pad for 20 years and it’s still going strong. However , as I get older comfort is a bigger priority. I’d looked at some of the air mattresses on the market but was worried about the reference to how noisy some are. Also like the idea of self inflating plus a couple of puffs to finish. Really pleased with the purchase. Easy to inflate, really comfortable. As I sleep warm it’ll do me all year round. Light weight and compact enough for backpacking or cycle touring. I also like the new valve system which makes topping it up and adjusting the support really easy. Probably not the answer for the ultra light brigade but perfect for everyone else.

A friend convinced me that I'll really notice a difference in sleeping in a tent with a therma rest. And he was right. I bought this $40 off regular price through Amazon warehouse. It is easy to inflate and deflate, my body stays off the ground when sleeping, it is fairly quiet, and my dog stepped on it and didn't puncture it. I would recommend not inflating it fully, as it is a bit more comfortable with a bit less air as it contoured my body better. This rolls up very small and will work well for a Boundary Waters trip, or a backyard camping adventure. Very, very pleased with this purchase and can't wait to sleep on it again. Unless the weather is nice and I sleep in my hammock instead :).

I bought this for backpacking trips. I had one of the ultra-light blow up kind and it was loud and not all that comfortable. I was looking for something that was comfortable, not bulky to pack, and not terribly heavy. I was also, trying to balance this all with price.I was amazed at how much more comfortable this was and feel it is worth the weight for a good night's sleep. I love it!

I have a lot of thermarest products. Going back 20 years. I've never had issues with them. Their brand name represents quality and durability!!! It is MADE IN USA!!!!!!!!!I would never consider buying one of those cheap Chinese mattresses or other companies. Once you use one of their products, you will be hooked for life!!!!!Did I mention it is MADE IN USA???!!! YEAH BABY!!!!

I've used this 29 years ago hiking and this Thermarest model has changed for the better and the quality has never changed and still made in USA or Ireland NOT CHINA!! Keeping Americans employed! Best product ever made and Thank you for still manufacturing in the USA and Ireland, credit to you all.

Excellent investment for backpacking. Perfect balance between warmth, comfort, weight, and size. Seems pretty durable too given the several trips I've used it.
