These boots are very comfortable, and did not need any breaking in at all. As described by other reviewers the ankle part of the boots can be a bit tight in the beginning, but will easily adapt to your foot after wearing them for about an hour.Tested these in a bucket of water, so can confirm that these are completely water-resistant. I bought the purple/grey colour version of this, and it looks just like the picture. The purple highlights are very visible, but subtle enough so your eyes aren't immediately drawn to them.I have worn these in the Peruvian rainforest and they've held up excellently, they are thick enough to protect from sharp branches or possible snake bites (I did not test their resistance to snakes,

Most of my walking is done on muddy countryside paths or at the beach (nothing too challenging) and so far so good. Have waded through some decent puddles (nothing deep enough to go over the top!) and haven’t had any leakage. The boots have a very solid sole, however haven’t needed much breaking in and feel very comfortable. Also very lightweight. I would ordinarily take a 4 or. 4.5 in shoes but as with my previous walking boots ordered a size 5 in these boots and have enough room for a thick pair or socks (or two thin ones) without any slipping or rubbing. At the time of purchasing (Nov 2016) these boots were still retailing at full price on the North Face website.

I wanted a pair of The North Face walking boots as a friend who Nordic walks told me they were the best waterproof boots, but they were quite expensive. I had been looking at them on Amazon when Amazon very kindly directed me to a pair which were greatly reduced, so I snapped them up. I have not yet tried them out in wet weather but I am confident they will be waterproof. Also, they were comfortable from day 0ne and did not need any breaking in. I am usually a size 4 but ordered a 4 and a half to allow for thicker socks and they are perfect.Thank you so much Amazon and North Face!!

Fit is slightly smaller than normal but I had ordered half a size bigger based on previous comments so they fit me perfectly. I really like the colour as well. Have only worn them once so far, on a hill walk, and found them very comfortable - I didn't need to break them in. The ground was very wet and part of the walk was through long grass but my feet were perfectly dry at the end. I'm giving them 5 stars based on one walk so hopefully I won't have to edit this review in 6 months time!

Really lovely boots for the price, but I am currently trying hard to wear them in. Maybe it is the shape of my feet, but the left one presses on my ankle bone (my medial malleolus, for the pedantic) and has left me with such an ache! I'm not going to give up though, once the pain has gone, I will try again, with thicker socks, because the boots themselves are really good quality.

I had searched the internet looking for a functional and stylish pair of walking boots when I came across these black North Face boots. When they arrived I wasn't disappointed. They are comfortable, lightweight and stylish. I wore them when I went skiing and many of my friends commented how good they looked. I am pleased with my purchase :)

I had an older version of these boots which were so rigid they were tough to wear for any length of time. These are still rigid but not anywhere near the bulk of the other ones. I haven't tested to see how waterproof they are. I ordered my actual size 7 and they are perfect with a little room in the toe area

Absolutely love these boots,I am a delivery driver for a restaurant and I’m in and out of my car in all weather. The comfort of a pair of runners and the warm and drinness of a pair of boots . I can’t recomend these boots enough and I just might get another pair straight away in a different color .

Brought these boots for my daughter, she is very happy with the fit and comfort. She works in a boarding kennel so comfy and dry feet are essential! Early days to see how long they last, fingers crossed longer than 3 months other brands have lasted.

Fit really well extremely comfortable. Walked 7 miles first time in them and no rubbing. Worth paying a bit extra for decent boots.
