The Legend of Zelda : Triforce Heroes is a refreshing addition to the series!Unlike the vast majority of Zelda games where you set out on your own for a great adventure, TriForce Heroes has you teaming up with 2 other players to complete levels in different areas (similar to the old Mario games). The game can either be played on :- Single Player (you switch between & control all the characters yourself)- Local Multiplayer (people within range of the 3DS/device). For local multiplayer ONLY ONE person needs to buy the game, & the other two can use download play to play the full game!I can't confirm this but I believe you can have local & online players playing together (will confirm when friend arrives with his 3DS)- Online Multiplayer (you can play with friends &/or random players). This is the best part of the game IMO. At first when I saw this game I thought "Oh I bet it'll be fun trying to find good players who'll let you actually play the game & not guide you through or mess around" & I can say out of all the games I've played I haven't had one bad egg join.Communication is limited to a group of emotion/directive images on the lower screen such as 'over here', 'item', 'confused face', 'happy face', 'cheer', 'nooo' etc. It actually works & is fun to use whilst playing. If you mess up or do something good you'll be rewarded with the other players thoughts in picture emotion form :-D You can drop in & out of games as you please & find new lobbies easily if need be.Also included in Online Multiplayer is the arena where you can battle two other people using your character & chosen outfit.Without giving too much away I give this game 5*!If you've been a fan of the Zelda games then I think you'll enjoy this, just don't be buying it expecting another Ocarina of Time type open world adventure game.I think people who haven't played any Zelda games will enjoy this, especially if you're after a multiplayer game, plus there's a vast range of 3DS/DS/GBA Zelda games available for the new fan (Ocarina of Time 3D, Majora's Mask 3D, A Link Between Worlds etc).Zelda games also hold their value unlike most, & to give you an idea of the quality of the games;I remember picking out Link's Awakening for the original gameboy when I was about 7 years old, & I'm now here leaving a review for the latest one & I turn 30 this year! :-)I've lent my friend's 6 year old boy my prized Ocarina of Time to play on his 2DS & he's almost through the Deku Tree! He has been getting stuck (like we all probably have at some point) but it goes to show Zelda games are great for making you think, solve puzzles & memorising etc. If I ever have a kid & they ask for the latest Dall of Cuty, FIFA 12 ver.4; I'll happily go out & buy it. Deluxe edition. No expense spared. I'll then return home & beat them with it, returning back to the store after to trade it in for one of the great Zelda instalments! :-)Level based, multiplayer puzzle solving action! :-)

I am a loyal patron of single-player, multiplayer games are never my normally my scene unless it's competitive- Tri Force heroes is the rare, fantastic exception to that rule.Taking place in the same but updated aesthetic style of a Link between Worlds, the game immediately slots into the Wind Waker Zelda scene- light hearted and dripping with personality, you're the classic hero wearing teddy bear pajamas in a land obsessed with fashion. Multiplayer is the only reasonable option here, and within ten minutes you're battling as Link alongside Lonk and Lank in a series of quick, sometimes challenging, but always fun puzzles. That was where I thought the failing in this game was- complete strangers don't work together. But the truth is the levels are so well designed that teamwork is essential, and most users have a common interest in beating the level, not to mention trolling achieves nothing especially when you can't see the other player's reactions. Granted you will come across the occasional person who's either immensely dense (what else could 'lift me' and 'throw' mean other than throw me across that gap?) or has no coordination, but you'll also find yourself being that person every now and then as well.Long story short, TFH is an innovative, very well designed, and just damn good fun. Certainly it's one of the most unusual Zeldas to date- there's hardly a single sidequest to speak of- and on the surface it might seem like the last thing a die-hard fan would want to play. But innovation is what makes Zelda games great, I doubt this one will ever attract the same level of attention as it's brethren, lacking the more tangible qualities like the story of Twilight Princess or the freedom of Link to the Past, but the whole point of playing any game is for the fun of it, and that's where Tri Force Heroes shines more than any other.Unless you play the single player. Remember those annoying as hell statues from Majora's mask that you had to move every fifteen seconds with that one long song? That.

As a big Zelda fan, I was looking forward to this game for a while, especially with it being multiplayer, which you don't tend to see often in Zelda games.Well it doesn't disappoint!Whether you're alone, or playing with friends, it's great fun, and later on in the levels it really tests your puzzle solving abilities as a team. The great thing is, if you don't have friends who own the game, the system can set you up with AI to play with, or if you play online, matches you with other solo players who are also looking for team mates to quest with! The game is based around different outfits you can acquire, and the different abilities which come with them. Some may give you resistance to certain elements like the Cosy Parka for example, which gives Link better grip on ice/snow levels, and prevents him from being frozen.Where as some are just bizarre and wacky like the Timeless Tunic, which changes Link into 8 bit mode, and the music throughout the game into chiptune! The more you play a level the more materials you'll gather to create outfits based on that certain zone!As your progress through the game, the zones gets tougher, and the puzzles harder. And if you don't have a team willing to co operate it can be a tough time, as, as the title of the game suggests, the levels require all 3 players to participate in solving the problems bestowed upon you.It can be tough at times, but when you see the treasure chest at the end of the level, and get that rare drop you've been wanting, it all pays off.All in all, I think it's a great game, on the contrary to what some reviews have said, but in the end I think it comes down to personal experience, and if you've got the time/money to invest in this little gem, I'd say definitely give it a go at least once before putting it down as "Just one of those spin offs".

If you play your Zelda games for the gameplay, clever puzzle implementation, and well varied dungeon design, then Tri Force Heroes is highly recommended - that is, of course, if you are willing to give multiplayer a chance in a franchise dominated by epic solo adventures. The totem mechanic works as well as the dimension shifting of A Link Between Worlds to provide novel and inventive ways to overcome obstacles, and the costume and item choice mechanics add a tactical angle to both cooperative and competitive modes.Though single player mode is vastly inferior to previous multiplayer titles from the Four Swords series, playing the game solo has little value to begin with anyway as the various ways to play together - online (with friends or strangers),or local (with one copy or several) - render the gameplay both more fluid and more fun. Though some may have a degree of trepidation over playing with anyone who's not a friend, I can safely say - having only played with strangers - that the game is greatly rewarding and maddening when performing as a Hylian trio. The easy to use blacklisting capability also ensures you can block any trolls or players you simply find too slow or frustrating.Ultimately, this is a game that embraces the madness of co-operative adventuring and the quirkiness of retro-game stylings alike, and unless you're one of those gamers who can only enjoy games with superficially dark tones and mediocrely written 'deep' narratives - and you own a 3DS - then I'd definitely recommend downloading the demo and giving it a go instead of dismissing it for not being a "proper" Zelda game.

Got the game one day early in another shop.First of all, this is not the standard Zelda game people might be expecting. This is mostly a multiplayer centric game although you can play it alone. With that out of the way, there will be people that get a bit frustrated because of some of the mechanics when playing that way as there are some wrong choices there but this shouldn't detract you from playing it. Multiplayer in this game is AWESOME.Something that did disappoint me a bit is Hytopia itself, a very small settlement that is quite bare compared to what you’d expect in a Hyrule town. Don’t expect much interaction with NPCs, and certainly not much in the way of extra town-based sidequests. This is not an epic Zelda adventure, full of exploration, and magical moments, but for this game that isn’t the end of the world. You can easily dive into a set of four short dungeons for 15-20 minutes, and feel like you’ve made progress in your quest. There’s a lot of gameplay here for completionists as well, and while you’ll see an end to the story in a couple of weeks, there’s something rather compelling about trying to track down those rare materials to make an outfit that lets you swim in fire, or shoot three arrows at once. Put simply, for as long as Tri Force Heroes grabs your attention, there’s enough to see and do.It looks fantastic and there’s plenty of both material and challenges to keep playing for a long time. The Colosseum might be underwhelming, and the picture-taking stuff is basic, but the rest is real fun.

My first impression of the game is that it is a rather comical tounge-in-cheek adventure set in a a fashion-obsessed kingdom. The music and dialogue are both pretty funny. The format is such that you start out in a little village area and, a bit like Four Swords, you choose the location where you want to do the quest and get transported there. The quests are in a bitesize pick-up-and-play format which already seem like they'll be packed with classic Zelda puzzles and they are extremely addictive. If, like me, you have no Zelda friends you will probably want to play single player, in this case you control two dummy Links who just stand around like lemons when not in use.It is possible to play alone but it can be tricky- you have those nasty moments where you have to stand on a switch and you just know enemies are going to surround you, in which case you have to defend the extra Links- a problem which wouldn't exist in multiplayer. The ability to play with strangers around the world is great if again, you have no Zelda friends, although it can be difficult to convey messages using only the basic emoticon commands availiable. The multiplayer is way more fast-paced and I'd imagine the local multiplayer could be absolutely brilliant as long as you can get together two other friends with 3DS's.

I would've put 5 stars if it wasn't region-locked, something I didn't find out until I tried playing with a friend in America. I've only played through the entirety of the single-player for that reason - using multiplayer online disconnected me a lot anyway so there's that. The single-player of the game is pretty good, solving puzzles yourself by swapping between 3 characters is definitely possible. There are some cases, such as bosses or timed-puzzle segments, where playing single-player feels impossible at times though. If you're not so good at timed-puzzles, some parts of the game should be taken with a grain of salt. That aside, the puzzles are good and it's an enjoyable game.I'd suggest picking up this game if you've got other friends living in the same country/location to play along with, otherwise you'll be playing single-player a lot since the online random-multiplayer is pretty unreliable. If that's your plan, you'll most-likely be gathering materials from both levels in single-player and the coliseum. Best of luck getting all the costumes!

With good company, this game is a blast. The levels are relatively small, but enjoyable. It plays similar to A Link Between Two Worlds, though the premise of the game is entirely different. Instead of a single player, story driven game on an open map, you are one of 3 heroes tackling shorter missions which last about 15-20 minutes each. You get four per level, and four of those per area. Theres probably about a dozen areas (we've tackled the first 3).As I said above however, with good company this game is enjoyable. It is meant to be played co-operatively and an excellent addition is the ability to play off one game cart (the other two players simply need to activate "download play" from their 3DS systems. The only downside being that you are limited in terms of outfits (you can only unlock two if you haven't got the game). Single player, these fun, quirky puzzles become a bit of a chore, and although there is online multiplayer, the picture gestures probably aren't adequate.

There are two standpoints to view this item from. This game is a perfect introduction to the IDEA of the Legend of Zelda series. Although it doesn't play exactly like a traditional Zelda game, I think anybody who tried this before sinking their teeth into one of the more mainstream titles would be fairly well prepared, although the puzzles amongst other things would be quite a step up. Secondly from a multiplayer party game, it is a very addictive challenge. It can be difficult to get your ideas across to other players whilst playing online, but it is usually manageable. Whilst it isn't a very long game, I have found myself returning to it again and again simply because of its interesting style,as different players tackle problems in different ways, so it has excellent replay value! Very highly recommended!

Got the game via Nintendo store as I didn't want to wait for delivery. I'm a huge fan of Zelda but never played the 4 swords game. It's a game where you have to work together to complete puzzles with random people online, local co-op or download play (a feature where one user has the game and 2 local players can play as well without owning the game). The thing I love the most is that you are able to express yourself with these special emotions with link himself. It's a very nice feature that helps users interact with each other than needing to talk over a microphone.Game plays are short but enjoyable and you come out satisfied when completing a mission together with people.Get this game as you won't be disappointed.I'm in my mid 20s and I enjoyed this game thoroughly!

This game is GOOD. I don't understand why this game got so much hate.I've really enjoyed it, it's a laugh and has interesting puzzles and challenges that you have to work out with your friends...which is the point of this game, to play with friends. Solo is pretty much pointless in my opinion, it just feels annoying having to constantly switch between the three links. The online download play is ok, though sometimes you will run into players that are playing the game for the 3rd time and will literally speedrun through the level for you. But if you can find the players and friends to play this game with, then it's amazing.

Not like an zelda game as we all know it,You have to complete 3 levels and then the boss. And then another 3 more levels and then the boss and so on, but the levels get harder.I'm in my 30s and I like zelda but when you only want a short game to play this is good as the other zelda games require an hour at least. Also my 6 year old daughter like zelda tho she can't play the wii and ds version as its too hard for her, she knows how to play this, tho I wouldn't link her up to play over wifi, just on solo play.

A little disappointed with this game. It is a multiplayer game. If like me you enjoy the classic Zelda game this is not it. That said it is still Zelda ( though Zelda is not in this game) graphics are still brilliant, puzzles not as challenging ( I haven`t got very far to be honest) If you want to play on your own it can be frustrating. Here`s hoping the next one is back to the original format

Brilliant game. Just a blast to play for Zelda fans of all ages. The singleplayer is fustrating, but the game is clearly designed to be played online. In solo it's a 6/10With random players it's an 8/10With friends online it's a 9/10And with friends in the same room it's a 10/10A worthy addition to any 3DS library.

Great if you want to play with others, harder if you're doing it solo like i amOnly reason I wont give it 5 stars is because for some reason...I was delivered the Italian version, at least the case was in italian and not english! the game was in english though
