This is a highly interesting adapatation of the popular film.I say interesting, because I've never encountered a game mechanic that makes the final closing moments of each game so nail-bitingly exciting.The main crux of The Hunger Games: District 12 is that it's a game about resource gathering.Each turn players chose to visit popular locations from the film and must gather medicine, fuel, clothing and food from them (depicted in the form of cards). These resources are tremendously important, because you must acquire a specific number of them by the end of certain rounds (there are 12 rounds in total).If you don't have enough of the required resources then you must put a token into the glass bowl found on the playing board.Alternatively, you can choose to keep your precious resources (as they are worth varying points at the end of the game) and take a risk by putting in a token for every resource you choose to keep. There are also special cards (featuring characters like Peeta and Primrose) who will grant you specific bonuses at the end of the game (there's all the option to upgrade them as play progresses instead of taking a resource card that turn).At the end of the final round all the tokens from the glass bowl are shuffled and one is randomly drawn out. And that's when the excitement really kicks in...If the chosen card is yours, you are immediately eliminated. That's right, it doesn't matter how many points you might have scored, you'll just lose the game. Just like that.It sounds like a terrible gameplay idea, but it's mechancially brilliant, capturing the dread of being chosen in the original book and film, and really turning the game on a knife-edge as you carefully weigh up whether you should meet your required quota or just go for broke and try and gain as many points as possible.Once the tribute has been selected the remaining players tot up their points and whoever has the most wins.ldhe Hunger Games is a highly enjoyable game, because its main mechanic completely levels the playing field. Of course, it's not going to be for everyone, but my 12-year old daughter loves it, mainly because it gives her and all of her friends a fighting chance at the end of the game.A fun strategy game, for anyone who enjoyed the film, or is looking for something that's a little different from the norm.

I bought this game as a gift. Not my kinda thing but person it was bought for loved it! Shame in came in a box that was literally ten times too big and not padded so was a litle battered by the time I lugged it home from post office.

I love this game, and it reminds me alot about the hunger games, in the way that a tribute is chosen and is dead at the end of the game, it it pretty evil but i absolutely LOVE IT!!!!!

Great looking game, needs a few play through s to get the hang of it. Bought for my kids as they love the film. Good game none the less.

This hunger board game is rather complicated - I think it will take us a while to learn how to play it. Shame about min words!!
