This is my daughter's favourite game at 3 and has been for near on six months now since we first got it. Shes not yet old enough for most board games or able to deal with skill, tactics or such and this is really good as a modern game for younger ones of I'd say 3 and up as well as being non character based and traditional. Cards are thick and withstand heavy use which wasn't expected for the price. She is enthralled by the ladybird element as she is into bugs and the cards are large, bold images which are appealing. She even really likes the large red and white spots domino element and shaking the dice/turn taking. there's lots of things to count basically, being a practical, educational Maths game involving counting and addition in the guise of a game so they do it happily without knowing it. It is also designed to tie in with the National Curriculum KS1, encourage observation and logic skills and communication and sharing with others. We use it to play dominoes actually as a second game (spots or ladybirds)or do snap/number comparrisons with other players.Orcahrd toys in general I think are great and go down well....she also really likes the "Shopping List Game" and "Farmyard Dominoes" by the same company.

I bought this game for my 3 year old as a game to encourage taking turns & observational skills. It is aimed at 3-7 year olds & I think this is about right. I am a big fan of orchard toys & we own many & have given them as gifts at childrens parties & they go down very well. This one is good fun to play, sometimes they don't get any ladybirds on the card they turn over & we haven't had any tantrums yet.I think the small dice is actually far too small for a 3 year old.Firstly they can't look at the amount of dots on the dice & then look at the cards to see if it looks the same, an older child will have more of an understanding but I purchased a large wooden dice (on amazon for £1.49)for my 3 year old to go with the game & its working great, she can associate the number of dots on the dice with the number on the cards much easier. We enjoy playing this game as a family & Im sure this will help her counting skills as we go along too.Very educational & would recomend it !I havent given it 5 stars simply because of the small dice but its a great game.

I bought this to take on holiday with us in an effort to entertain our 3 year old. She really enjoyed it and to be honest I did too. It can be played within 2 minutes of opening the box and it's very simple to pick up, encouraging counting and matching skills. It's a great way to prepare them for snakes & ladders and other dice game as it teaches children to recognise and count the spots on the dice. You have to pick up a card with the same number of spots as your dice throw, which then has 0-3 ladybirds on the back. Oh the drama when you turn your card to find your ladybirds "have all flown away Mummy!"We found that at first it helped her to sort the cards so that the same numbers were together, that helped her pick out the pattern more easily. And I bought a bigger dice to help her but to be honest she probably could have managed with the small one. A game takes 10 minutes tops.Warning - you may find your child outrageously, blatently, cheating. And possibly their Daddy too.

I purchased this for my 2 and 3 year old because they want to be constantly played with and at 8 months pregnant crawling round the floor playing dinosaurs or whatever is not really possible.Well my baby is now 4 months old and it's still played daily, essentially it's a simple game but so fun!You take it in turns to roll the dice and then take a card with the same number on which all have leaves on, some of which have ladybirds and some are empty, there are plenty of oh no's from me and laughing from my kids when I always seem to pick the empty leaves. Then at the end whoever has the most ladybirds wins.It helps my kids as I make them count the ladybirds and also my son hasn't quite got the hang of recognising the numbers on the dice straight away but he counts the dots.Lots of fun to be had, it's been to nanny's and on holiday with us and I'm sure will get lots more play before we're finished with it.Definitely 5 stars from me!

My 3 year old grandaughter likes to play this. It is a game which is simple to understand and entertaining enough for her age group. It teaches the basics about board games: taking turns, how dice work, winning and losing, and what constitutes cheating. A great start to a happy board gaming future. At the end the game might drag on because the number of cards corresponding to the numbers on the dice get less through the game so you can be left, (similar to the end in snakes and ladders) with it taking a long time to throw the correct number to get the cards. This is easily adaptable though by either ending the game early; say when there are 4 cards left for example or agreeing to divide up the remaining cards by getting people to choose (without looking)the remaining cards. The one with the most ladybirds wins and I am happy to say I have won quite a bit of money from my grandaughter (only kidding!)

My daughter has just turned three and she loves this game. There are cards with a leaf and ladybirds on one side and dots 1-6 the same as the dice numbers on the other side. You take turns with the dice and collect the cards with the matching dots. You keep taking turns until all the cards or number of dots are gone. Yes there are turns that you dont get to pick a card but you can encourage your child to try again and keep trying. Its fun and I can see she is taking her time to match the dice number to the dots so she will associate the number of dots to an actual number. Secondly once all the cards are collected we sit down together and how many ladybirds everyone has.I have to give it to Orchard Toys great introduction for Key Stage 1. I will recommending this game to all the Mummies I know. Last but not least its britsh made!

This is my favourite game to play with my 3-year old (and hers too). This is a game that works equally well with two players as with four (so many games seem to be better with more than two players). It is incredibly fun and simple, and it has totally gotten her excited about counting. It taught her to count to 20 incredibly quickly and we also play that you can choose combinations (e.g. you roll a six and can then choose a card with a 4 and a card with a 2) and that is introducing addition. The great thing is that the game is super fun but it is actually educational without the child being aware of its educational value. The cards are a very nice quality.A truly outstanding toy and my favourite of the orchard toy games that we have played.

My 3 year old loves this game. It's quick and easy to play and very educational. Her counting has improved as we count the spots when we throw the dice. It's also helped her understanding of 'taking turns' and that sometimes you win but sometimes you lose. The box and pieces are robust and have been taken to pubs, restaurants as well as peoples houses and been in contact with sticky figners etc.The whole family from Grannies downward are now very familar with it. I've had to buy some other orchard games just to give us a break from this one as we were having to play it 10 times a day at one point!I've now bought this as a present for other kids - I can't recommend it highly enough.

We purchased this for our little boy who at the time was 2 years and 9 months. His counting and recognition of numbers we thought was great at the time which is a reason behind why we got it for him, however he got bored with it very quickly and therefore the game would never be finished. Now that he has turned 3 he is taking more interest in it and plays for longer but it is much better to be played with more than 2 people as the game then doesn't last that long. The product however is a great tool for children to recognise the numbers and match them from the dice to the cards and is lots of fun. The age range of this game is correct with a starting age of 3.

I got this for my 3 year old. He has been able to count up to 20 for some time, but has not had the patience for games until more recently. It is a very simple game. He loves the dice shaker, which makes it easier for him to roll the dice. The game promotes recognising things, in this case the same number of dots, that are the same. It also encourages counting beyond 10 and even beyond 20.You take turns to roll the dice and collect a card with the matching number of dots. When all the cards have been used up, you turn them over and count your ladybirds. The player with the most ladybirds, wins!Simple and engaging.

We have owned the Game of Ladybirds for many years since our sons were youngsters - both are now in their thirties. We owned a rather battered game that our three year old grandson just loves. So in an idle moment I searched Amazon and found that the game still exists and is in an even more colourful box withe even more colourful box at a very inexpensive price. So I was delighted to be able to upgrade. It's a brilliantly simple game for youngsters and helps them to count and have fun at the same time. A simple game with dice and cards where the winner is the person to collect the most ladybirds.

I bought this game for my little one, who is two, when our new arrival came along. I wanted some interactive games to keep him occupied and make sure he didn't feel left out or jealous with the new baby around. He absolutely loves this game and always asks me to get it out to play with. He cant count properly but it really is helping him to understand numbers. Its also good as in the game sometimes you don't win when you receive no ladybirds so this helps him to understand that you don't always get what you want.Would highly recommend and think that we will get a few years joy out of this game.

Was so glad to find this still available. Can't speak too highly about what is essentially a very simple game that can be enjoyed both by young children and adults. Initially we had one of these games when our boys were growing up. Now we play it with our grandson who is three years old and he loves it.It has led to much fun and enjoyment. It took him just a few minutes to pick up, but we now play regularly. We also have a young granddaughter who is at the moment too young to play Ladybirds. But we are sure that she will grow to love it too and we will have many more additional hours of fun.

I bought this for my friend's boys as a present as my girls love the Orchard Toys games and puzzles. I think it is one of the best things you can get for children as it is educational, durable and provides endless possibilities to learn and have fun. we spent the whole Boxing day playing these games! it is better than another soft toy, definitely!my girls are 2 but already enjoying the more complex games which are said to be from 3 years. I think that you can start playing them earlier and as they grow older explore other aspects of the game.great family fun! highly recommend!

I bought this my daughter for her 3rd birthday and it was the best present by far. We have played it hundreds of times and 6 months on she it still her favourite thing to do! Its very educational, she learned counting, numbers, taking turns, rules.... loosing and winning and its also lots of fun. When her little friends come round they also want to play it so I would say a definatly worth the money. As the other reviewers said the cards are very durable and even after intensive playing (in all kinds of conditions) it still looks like new. A lot of fun for little money!
