There are very good workouts on this Wii game, but you still have to know where to position the remote, as you could be doing the actual exercise correctly - say, a side lunge and you have to tap your opposite hand to the floor next to your foot that you have lunged, and because your remote doesn't seem to be in the right place, it doesn't connect, so you don't get any or all of the 5 icons that seem to light up for each exercise - and there is an issue of where do you put the remote when it asks you to put it in your pocket for, say, when you are trying to do the plank or yoga poses - I don't have pockets in any of my workout gear? It would help if you could be shown what to do (how to place the remote, for example, as well as how to do the exercises correctly - EA Sports Active has this facility). The other issue I have is that you could be doing a half hour workout, and you only seem to have burned 70 calories - excluding the warm up and cooldown which calculate these separately - doesn't seem right when you are knackered and worked up a real sweat during a cardio workout. When I have used EA Sports Active for a half hour workout, it can say that I have burned between 150-200 calories - depending on whether it is cardio-based. I have come to the conclusion that neither of these are accurate - maybe it is somewhere inbetween -but I think the only way you can accurately calculate calories burned is with a heart monitor. The last issue I have is that you cannot pick your own avatar. You have to pick one of the contestants that have been on the show, and it shows their weight loss when you go through the weigh-in at the end of the week and while you are doing the weekly challenge.Apart from the above, it does give you a very good workout. I picked the 4 week challenge, inputted all my info - weight, height etc, and it created a 4 week package for me to do - so there were full body, upper body, lower body & yoga exercises on alternative days - you can also pick whether you want light, moderate, hard, challenging or intense workouts. Once you have picked a workout, it can be 2 or 3 circuits - so you do a circuit of squats, lunges, jumping jacks etc, then it takes you back to the beginning, and you start again. You had to pick which days of the week you wanted to do, and pick either Bob or Jillian (the trainers on the show). It is best to pick Bob, as if you pick Jillian, you get her avatar, but with 1 or 2 phrases, you still get Bob's voice for most of it - quite confusing when you get both of them talking to you - but if you pick Bob, you don't get Jillian's voice as well, so that's better for me. There can be a few phrases that don't seem to be linked to the right setting, for example, you could be at the end of a particular exercise, and Bob will say: "Keep going" - or you could be doing a cooldown and he says: "Look at me, I am out of breath!" Make sure that you are happy with the amount of workouts you have put in to the calendar for each week - as you may not be able to change these. There are 4 weeks', 8 weeks' and 12 weeks' challenges. On the last day of the week, it has weekly challenges, your avatar could be going across a tightrope and it means that you have to do mountain climbers - high knees with alternate arms reaching up to the sky - if I remember rightly, I think I had to do these 4 times to see if I won the challenge - as it would show the other contestants on a chart each time - and it would put you at the top or lower, depending on how hard you tried - and then it goes to the weekly weigh-in - where you either input your weight (if you have lost any) or stand on the balance board. You may have lost 2lbs in that week, it asks you to input this, then it does its dramatic bit (you are watching the contestant on the screen) then it says that the contestant has lost 9lbs - then you have to wait and see if that is more or less what the other contestants have lost and to see if you are eliminated. It should be your own avatar up there, not a previous contestant, and it should be your weight up there - plus you should be given the option to go up against your own family and friends. I don't see how it can work out that you can be eliminated from your own game against computer avatars. On the fitness program it has worked out for you, you also have to input how many calories you have eaten during that day, and you can also input how many extra minutes you have exercised for on some other exercise. There are also helpful hints and tips which pop up for you - although you may find that there isn't actually that many when you see the same tip come up time after time - these are random - but you can also click onto Bob and Jillian's videos giving you tips and there are also recipes on there - I haven't mentioned much about these - because I don't use them - I am more interested in the workouts - but it is useful to have a look.Anyway, I hope the above makes sense to you. Apart from a few issues, as a workout alone, it will give you a very good workout and make you sweat.

The general populace of the United States has proved that it likes to watch obese people suffer as they push themselves to lose weight, but now it's time for gamers to get off the couch and show that they're willing to make the same commitment themselves. The Biggest Loser exergame title is based on the popular reality television show on NBC, which features obese contestants competing to lose the most weight. Players can partake in 4-12 week programs that resemble the process that show contestants undergo, or they can simply use the game to practice individual workouts, gain fitness and lifestyle tips, and find recipes for healthier eating. While The Biggest Loser may not have the hype and budget that other recent fitness games have had to back them up, this underdog title makes as much of an effort as the show's chubby contestants, offering as much as the competition in terms of workout options and difficulty customization.Users choose which of the show's hosts they want to be their personal trainer, selecting either Bob Harper (not to be mistaken with EA Sports Active host and Oprah's personal trainer Bob Greene) or Jillian Michaels. Michaels is a well-known figure in the fitness game genre, having a popular title of her own -- Jillian Michaels Fitness Ultimatum 2009 -- on shelves and a 2010 version on the way. Though you may prefer a trainer of the same sex as you, it all comes down to who you want to look at and listen to through the duration of your exercise routines. You'll also select a player to represent you from a list of contestants on previous seasons of the show, but the choice doesn't really impact the gameplay experience at all.John Henry was a steel-driving man.Individual workouts are divided into five different target areas: full body, upper body, core, lower body, and yoga. Players get to select their preferred difficulty level for their workout, and The Biggest Loser has one of the biggest difficulty ranges of any fitness game yet -- offering five different settings, including light, moderate, challenging, hard, and intense. This impressive range is what really makes The Biggest Loser stand out. Within each of these difficulties there are a number of different length options, ranging from short and sweet 10-20 minute workouts to intense routines that go up to an intimidating 70 minutes. While I can do EA Sports Active on the highest difficulty without trouble, the prospect of a 70 minute intense core workout from The Biggest Loser was nerve-racking, if not terrifying.Like recent fitness offerings such as Wii Fit Plus and EA Sports Active, The Biggest Loser offers players the chance to create and save custom workouts, so they can avoid exercises they dislike. You can also choose to begin a 4, 8, or 12 week training program that provides set workouts, tracks your calorie intake, and helps you select a weight loss goal. The program requires a regular time commitment, not just for exercise, but also for estimating and imputing calorie consumption, so only dedicated players should begin the program. This mode most closely follows the format of The Biggest Loser television show, and it's also very similar to the EA Sports Active 30-Day Challenge where players are tasked with completing 20 set workouts in 30 days as well as filling out a daily journal about their diet, activity level, and lifestyle choices. Within the training program there are three major difficulty options -- beginner, intermediate, and expertRead full review...

An avid fan of the Biggest Loser Series I couldn't wait to get my hands on this game, in actually fact I have even bought the DS version as well so I can have it with me in my hand bag.You get such a good work out and I have tried a few fitness wii games all of which I didn't particular enjoyed. This beats those hands down (EA Fitness, Personal Trainer etc) you get a really good workout and I really ached for a couple of days after. I have read reviews where people have said that it is easy to cheat at the exercises, I say more fool them. The way I look at it is - if you buy this game and cheat, then you are only cheating yourself.I have come across a couple of glitches. One being unable to change the calender for my routine. You are suppose to be able to delete days where you don't want to work out and move them to another. Whilst I can create a workout for a day I can't seem to delete it (I don't want to workout on a sunday), so if you come across the buttons or how to do this please let me know. The other problem that I found is some of the recipes. Although they say there are over 50, there arent that many to choose from in each category ie. lunch only a handful. The main meal recipes are good with a variety and I have cooked two so far. The thing you would need to be care is, is that some don't say how many people it is to serve. ie. I did the BBQ chicken and because it was only two chicken breasts needed I assumed it would serve 2. After some investigation I found that it was meant to serve 4 - no way would that have been anough but for only 120 cals we double up anyway. The only thing was with this articular recipe was that I went and bought all the ingredients for it and then when reading the instructions it says now put in your red pepper - erm scuse me.... you didnt list this in the ingredients, hence I didn't have them.So although you need to be careful with the recipes, they taste really nice, so much so I am today buying the recipe book. Someone has said they some of the recipes are defunct for the UK as you can't buy the ingredients, look on the internet and you can easily find UK alternatives. The reason I bought the DS one is so when I am out on business for a few days I can keep on track by browsing through.Overall, excellent product, although a bit more care and attention should have been made with the recipes, but as long as people are aware of this I would recommend it.

I've had this game for a few weeks and I'm generally impressed with it. Others have already started some of the obvious pros and cons so no need to do the same again. I would say though, that for me there is a BIG risk that people who have never excercised before could easily end up doing the excercises incorrectly, and they would never know. The trainer will just continue regardless, often saying positive/encouraging remarks despite obviously having no idea if you are doing the the excercises correctly or not.Maybe this is a problem with all such things whether on Wii or DVD or whatever? To a large extent you just watch the trainer and try to copy them I guess. But with many excercises, the goal is to work a particular set of muscles, therefore I find it suprising that you can get great scores, and the game moves on, regardless of how correctly you are excercising.Another BIG problem is how they move onto the next excercise without telling. Not even a countdown or similar. So I almost always do one extra squat/lunge/punch EVERY time as they move onto the next activity. And then miss the first one of the next set! Ah well, if that's the worst thing that happens it won't be too bad.You also need space in front of your TV to do the excercises; sounds a bit obvious but not everyone has a space of 6 x 6 feet (at least) empty in front of the TV.I would also warn people who have weak ankles or knees that there is a fair number of excercises involved that will play havoc with your joints (low squats, press-ups with your knees on the ground, jumps, etc) but realistically this is going to be an issue with other excercise programms. The good news is that once you have been though the programmes a few times, you will begin to know the different excercises by name. You can then create your own routine, removing any excercises that are just not possible due to whatever issue you might have!I'm glad I bought this and I think I will make use of it. I've been using the Wii Fit+ for ages. That was fun for a while but was more 'fun' than a useful tool to get fit and lose weight.I nearly bought the EA active games instead, but I was put off by the need to have more euipment involved (leg strap, elastic bands, nun-chuck etc). Just more stuff to go wrong in my opinion. The Biggest Loser does not need the user to own anything else; even the Wii Fit balance board is optional.

love......the number of different workouts...lots of fat burning with a bit of yoga thrown in....the fun challenges that get you moving even if you don't feel like a work out....the motivating talk from trainer (sometimes a little annoying...but just love it when they say 'you've got nothing...but success coming your way')....competing against people from the show...nothing like the embarrassment of being eliminated to push you on....that i've really lost weight (6lbs in first week)...that you can use with just wii remote if you don't have balance board....that you can vary the density and time of workouts by selecting lower impact and shorter routines....that you can pick out your favoritesif there is a particular body area you want to work on....that it encourages warm up and cool downs with preset routines that you can opt in and out of....that it is easy to navigate game.don't like......constantly having to reposition balance board as exercises are off front, back and sides of board (more to do with me having small lounge!)...that some things take a while to do, like input your daily input of calories...which is good to do, but i bought this as i don't have time much free time and just want to turn on and work out....the slightly rubbish graphics...that you can't create a personalised player, but have to pick a competitor from previous biggest loser tv program.overall excellent fitness and weight loss program that will help you lose weight.Read full review...

I have only just recently purchased this but it is just what i wanted. I have the Wii Fit and the Wii Fit Plus but was getting bored with the limited intense workout stuff you can do on there. The Biggest Loser has a range of activities from single quick exercises through to intense workouts and also the challenges are fun too. After 35 minutes I was sweating so much more than i had been after 15-20 mins on the Wii Fit jogging. There isn't too much talk inbetween exercises either. I love Bob and Jillian and find it more encouraging to have a trainer there on the screen (weird i know) rather than just the Wii Mii on the Fit. You do need quite a bit of room for things like lunges etc but so far there aren't really any downsides to it.It can all be personalised and i am excited to see how much weight i can lose before the summer.Added after a weekend of using this game - Oh my god I ache sooooooo much. I have done this twice on Friday (am and Pm), once on Saturday and twice on Sunday - my muscles have never been so sore - but this is good right!!!! I have set up the 4 week fitness program and it seems to get you to work out every other day with a planned program (i entered how much weight i wanted to lose over 4 weeks). BUT i have then done my own workouts on the days in between including some yoga which is on it too. This is a fab workout game and i will be very surprised if i haven't lost weight by my first weigh in in 3 days time. Highly recommend it.

that would be yes , i thought it would be a bit simple compared with the tv series, its not. i have nearly all the fitness games on the wii and this is by far the most challenging. it is as the series with small challenges ie; eat a wholegrain a day.you can enter your calories eaten for each meal and there is a selection of healthy meals and snacks to make. you can chose your trainer although most of the movie clips are of bob and you can play as one of a selection of previous contestants and weigh in on the scale each week. i was doing the medium setting on the wii active and this is far tougher although acheivable.the game also includes a warm up and cool down, custom workout, and individual excersizes as well as alot of tips during play.a good alround fitness tool which picks up the movements of the controller pretty well it doesnt miss much.can be used with or without board and i find it doesnt make much difference either way.the medium setting consists of 3 circuits with a rest in between ,watch out you will need them.

I would highly recommend The Biggest Loser to anyone who wants to lose weight and/or get fit. I'm a big fan of the show and the game is excellent. You are given step by step instructions throughout each fitness programme, there is a timer for each exercise plus a picture showing you what the next exercise will be. The programmes are varied and give your whole body a good workout. You can choose your own trainer (I chose Bob) and you also choose who you want to be from previous contestants. There is a weekly challenge and weigh in just like the show plus elimination. I love it and cant recommend it highly enough. I have lost 12lbs in the first 4 weeks - which is brilliant.I've just started an 8 week programme and hope to lose a stone. Even when I get to target I can honestly say that I will still be working out to Bob & Jillian as it is a fun, healthy and structured way to maintain your weight and fitness levels. I would give this game 10/10.

I wasn't sure if this would be any good, so I did a little research on youtube before buying it. Best £10 I've spent in a while. I love this game!!! Haven't used EA Active so I can't compare it to EA active, but it's a million miles better than Wii Fit Plus.I've had a personal trainer in the past, and irrespective of the price, I'd choose the Biggest Loser game over a personal trainer any day. I find that I actually look forward to using it, and always sweat buckets.Even though you don't need a balance board to use the game, I found that the exercises were more challenging with it (maybe that's just psychological).I'd definitely recommend it. I think there's something for everyone; if your goal is to lose weight, the calorie counter is a brilliant way of tracking how much you're eating each day; if you just want to stay fit (irrespective of your fitness level) you'll definitely find something to challenge you.

I have just got this game and it is really good. The wii remote is very responsive to the exercises, and there seem to be a good range of tasks. You can use the wii balance board if you have one, or the exercises can also be done without if you don't, just say at the start of the session if you have a board or not.I have started out on the easy level and am going to progress through to intermediate then hard.I especially like the motivational video clip from Bob at the start of every session. It is quite amusing as you have to choose one of the fatties from the show to be your character, and when I am working out it is quite nice to think that at least my thighs are not as big as hers! Also the Jillian Michaels avatar appears to be cross-eyed!I think I will be able to stick to this one after endless frustration with the useless EA Active. It's also not very expensive.

The Biggest loser is the hardest of all the wii keep fit games i've tried (EA Active and Wii Fit), If you want to loose weight as well as tone up this is the one for you. The game however does have some problems such as:A The game dosn't always pick up what your doing with the remote so you dont get thing right when you seem to be doing them as the trainer areB They change between different exercises quite quickly so if your doing an exercise where you can't see the tv sometimes theyre gone on the the next one without you knowing it.C The amount of calories it tells you you've burned is a joke....for 45 minutes full body and arobic workout that makes you sweat buckets and feel sick it says 46calories.....REALLY??If you can ignore all thosse things and just get on with the workout though its definately a good fat burner!!

I have tried/own most of the exericse/sports and work outs you can buy for the Wii and I have to admit this is now in my top two. (The other being EA sports).Like EA sports - it has various pre-set workouts you can do, or you can create your own workouts (which I like to do). There is also a 'Challenge' section, where you perform different challenges.I'm not really interested in the nutritional advice side of the game, but that seems to be good too.You can select exercises from easy all the way up to intensive for Upper Body, Core, Lower Body & Cardio. Or there is a full body workout.I would say this get's you sweating and provides a much better workout than all the other Wii games.

11.2.2010

After using EA Sports Active and the More Workouts I thought I would give this a whirl. It certainly targets muscles that Sports Active doesn't. I find the ab section in every workout good. The workouts are short but challenging, and if you do too well , then they bump you up a level next time. Just a couple of niggles. The previously mentioned not being able to change your schedule, tho it says you can. And if you're doing the plank, you have to keep looking up to see when Bobs finished as he doesn't tell you, and there's no indication through a noise. But I would say in general a better workout than EASA for alot less money.

6.6.2012

Really good game, great for tips on healthy eating and exercising. The challenges that are set are against other virtual players which help to motivate yourself as you try to beat their targets so that you don't get eliminated. Through out the exercises your trainer lets you know how well you are doing. there are different levels of difficulty. There is a weigh in day every week and though out the week it sets you an exercise program so that come to weigh in day you should have lost your target. I would recommend this game to others.

23.4.2010

This game is fantastic I love it if you have seen the biggest loser usa on sky real lives it is the same format. You get a work out (which does not have to be done with the fit board but then of course at the end of the week you cannot weigh in, although you can add your own weight from weighing scales). So warm up's, cool downs and weigh in's. It has a calorie counter to keep you on track and diet tips. My husband lost 8kg the first week and I lost 2kg....fab!
