I guess I should expected it, given the price, but this compass is a low-quality knock-off of the US military lensatic compass. Two things stand out. The first is that the lens assembly (the arm that contains the little lens for which it is call a "lensatic") when folded down does not lock the compass disc in place. I'd guess this was a deliberate omission. The second is that the compass doesn't point North reliably. I've experimented several times (taking care to not be close to metallic items), and too frequently the compass settles in to point off North by many degrees. And it takes too long to settle.
