This model is what you'd expect from Tamiya: well built and highly detailed. It's not a kids "toy" really but would probably be ok for the more enthusiastic youngster: note there are a lot of parts and they're pretty small. Some drilling (1mm and 1.5mm: I used an HSS drill for the latter and a small jeweler's screwdriver for the former)needed if you go for the "heavy" option (see below).There are a couple of options (basically a heavy and light option) for ground attack and escort roles. Plenty of drop tank options and a rocket / bomb fit. The cockpit is well detailed complete with a nice reflex sight representation.

Although I have not constructed it yet, the kit is wonderfully detailed and catches the powerful lines of the P-47 very well indeed. The kit box was well packaged, and arrived quickly and in perfect condition. Five stars all round!....Very satisfied!!!!
