This gorgeous lighthouse set is a brilliant addition to any fan's collection with its whimsical seaside themed decor to the working lighthouse and starlight projector feature alongside.It has plenty of play value just by itself and educational value with discussing the purpose and value of lighthouses, but gift givers should note this does not come with any figures, whilst many children may just move in Happyland or similar toy figures those who are purists or are swayed by the box may want a set of figures (the Chocolate Rabbit grandparents are the set referenced in the artwork and story alongside the main chocolate rabbit family visiting)The seaside theme is evident throughout the accessories from the shell sofa,rowing boat hammock bed and whale table to smaller details like shells that twist out for a staircase and ship wheels on the cooker as the gas burners.The lighthouse feature is brilliant, you need to insert 3AAA batteries into the light unit, note the unit WILL NOT turn on until you insert a star card to set the light image. I'm guessing this stops batteries running down due to fiddling or leaving it on, but was a worry I'd broken it til I figured it out! There are 3 display choices, a simple star constellation, fireworks in the night sky and the hot air balloon tricycle flying across the full moon E.T style. The display light is a soft Amber glow which shouldn't interfere with any bedtimes as it may with a white-blue toned light.I can see plenty of children wanting this as a nightlight projecting stars onto the ceiling, it doesn't display best if on the floor to ceiling, if you close the distance with a low or side table or similar the image is much crisper but isn't awful if floor to average ceiling height but you do need pretty near on black out no lighting for that.We have been lucky enough to collect a few Sylvanian family pieces with our daughters, my 4 year old thinks they are amazing as she loves small world play and even though my 1 year old is too young for the littlest bits she already loves the houses and figures.This is an outstanding addition to our collection with the educational and play value alongside the whimsy of the themed decor, the light feature us enough to make this a hands down winner for any child but the rest of it is well worth the purchase too.

My daughter loves Sylvanian Families and we have bought her a lot of the sets and families over the last year or so and so this new Starry Point Lighthouse set has been an immediate hit.The only very mild disappointment is that this set does not come with any figures and so although we have a lot of the families sets ourselves, this is worth bearing in mind if you are buying this as a gift for someone. I do like how a lot of the newer sets have a figure included so that they can be played with straight away but for some reason Epoch have decided not to include a figure with this set and as I just mentioned while that isn't an issue for my daughter as she has lots of the little figures,it is worth bearing in mind if this is for example to be opened on Christmas day to avoid any possible disappointment and it may be worth also purchasing a small figure set too.The Lighthouse is big and a great size and does require a small amount of assembly. One of the really nice things is that it does come with a little bit of furniture such as the sofa and boat bed/swing. You will also need some batteries (3xAAA) which again is worth bearing in mind if this set is to be opened on a day when most shops will be shut such as Christmas day.The Lighthouse effect is beautiful and it looks so nice in a darkened room. This is currently my daughters favourite play set and she has already moved most of her bunny families in.This set can also be connected to other sets such as the Cosy Cottage Starter Home, Beechwood Hall and Seaside Cruiser which a lot of the newer sets can now be connected with each other.I love these sets and that may be because I used to collect and play with them when I was a little girl and so they bring back very fond memories but I think it is because my daughter loves them so much and they are basically just very sweet and lovely toys which are beautifully made and long lasting if treated with some care. I think this will easily be one of the most sought after Sylvanian Families sets this Christmas.

The Starry Point Lighthouse is one of the larger, and more expensive, Sylvanian Families play sets. It's a nice, reasonably chunky play house in the shape of a lighthouse. The big feature offered by this set, the ceiling projector light, requires a little bit of setting up. There is a choice of three different pattern filters, the light needs to be focussed to get the projections to show up properly on your ceiling, and the set requires batteries (3x AAA - which are, naturally, not included). The focal length for the projector is 1.7-2.5m.The lighthouse is designed to allow it to be connected to some of the other larger play sets from the Sylvanian Families range,which is a nice feature for serious Sylvanian buffs - but if you don't have other sets, the platform connector piece can simply be used as a patio.Inside the box, you get:- the lighthouse itself- a couch- a whale-shaped table- a boat-shaped bed/swing- a small hot air balloon (NOT the Airship shown in the main item picture and on the front of the box)- a connector for the hot air balloon (which allows this to be 'docked' to the lighthouse)- a platform that works as a floor extension and allows this set to be joined to others from the range- a ladder- a fabric mat- three interchangeable light pattern filtersThe set comes without any included Sylvanian Families characters to play with - in my view, the box disclaimer "Some figures and some accessories not included" seems a bit naughty, since this could be taken to imply that some figures ARE present.

Sturdy Lighthouse with two floors, ceiling can be removed to create one large area, plus an upstairs balcony and lighthouse top. The Lighthouse top doubles up as a projector and has three small slides which project three different night sky patterns to a height of approx. 2.4 m x 1.6 m width. A simple on/off switch controls the projector which requires 3 AAA alkaline batteries, not included, and a screwdriver to open the battery compartment. Once you've set the projector up you really need a room that's as dark as possible for the best result and once in the right location it's quite an effective display.Apart from setting up the projector there's some basic self assembly needed to complete the Lighthouse,just small plastic components, and it's all quite straightforward if you follow the instruction manual.No Sylvanian family figures are included with this set but there are some nice pieces of furniture and other extras; sofa, table, bed, blanket, hot air balloon with basket, ladder, slide, wooden deck plus a Story Book.I particularly like the projector and the night time sky show because it's a little bit different and the overall quality of the build is good.Much loved by my granddaughter who watches the night time slide show while listening to a bedtime story. Lovely toy. Recommended.

Sylvanian Playsets, I feel, are some of the sturdiest and most well-designed products on the market. They don't scuff or scratch and children can play with their usual clumsiness without worrying about damaging them. They don't use cheaper plastics or cut corners - I can imagine these playsets surviving for their own children.The Lighthouse is a particularly nice set. Unlike some of the other sets with very specific uses and a limited range of stories, it is large, spacious and lends itself to a number of possibilities. There's a small hot air balloon swing and a boat. A curved sink is included which is a nice touch, as are the other accessories of a nautical theme.My favourite feature is the light,which takes 3AAAs (not included) and allows you to project stars, fireworks or a full moon. It will reach the ceiling but it isn't the strongest bulb (it's not marketed as a nightlight, after all) so you might want to set up an area with a low table or a very dark room for it. It's still beautiful, even in regular light.An excellent playset with a range of possibilities.

This Sylvanian Families Starry Point Lighthouse is absolutely brilliant! My granddaughter loves this Best of all. She couldn't wait to get it out of the box. Moaned constantly that she wanted it fixed up so she could move in her poodle family, and a majority of Peppa pig and her family. The battery compartment needs a screwdriver. As I didn't have one to hand I just skipped this part till my husband gets home from golf. But it seems really easy to do. It takes 3 batteries. I have rechargeable ones waiting to go in. In all it was really easy to get put together. This isn't a small lighthouse. It's a nice size for any child's playroom or bedroom. This comes with a sofa, whale coffee table,and a sink unit. You get a balloon ride for one on the younger members of the sylvanian children. And a rowing boat, plus a rectangle of white fabric which we have used as a rug. I shall look for more furniture and furnishings in the lighthouse theme.

This Sylvanian item is easy to assemble, and as a result, our 3 year old was able to assist in putting it together which added to the excitement. As usual with Sylvanian products, it is sturdy and has some nice detail. It comes with sea/lightouse themed items such as a shell shaped settee and shell shaped steps, as well as a nice balloon swing. This lighthouse is also connectable with other Sylvanian buildings.This lighthouse comes with a choice of 3 image slides which beam to light the ceiling, and again, once explained, easy for my 3 year old to interchange. You will need 3 AAA batteries which are not included. The images are beamed onto the ceiling (ours is approximately 10 feet high),and whilst visible, is not as strong or defined as we expected. Despite this, it's still a lovely toy.

My daughter was given this and immediately fell in love!This lighthouse is a really good size - it is a biggish toy and isn't too fiddly. It does take a little building / setting up when taken out of the box - but there is nothing too complicated.It does not come with any figures - my daughter is using her hedgehog family with it though which seems to work well!The lighthouse comes with a few bits of furniture including a bed (which hangs and is the shape of a boat), kitchen, and hot air balloon.The thing that makes this lighthouse really different is the projector which shines stars etc onto the ceiling of your child's room. This requires batteries (not provided).There are three different slides you can slide in to create star scenes.This is a lovely toy.Would recommend.

The starry point lighthouse is cute and will add a nice touch to our little girl's already growing collection of Sylvanian families toys. You get the cottage with attached lighthouse...perfect for any little family to enjoy....out daughter's favourite is the rabbit family!! It does not come with any figures which would have been nice but otherwise, we are very happy with it!It is colourful and sturdy enough to withstand her active playing! A nice addition!!

Another high quality piece from the makers of Sylvanian Families. Well constructed with a few accessories included.Needs 3 AAA batteries that are not included to use the light/projector function in conjunction with the little slides. This looks very cute in a darkened room - it isn't very bright so not a nightlight alternative.There are no characters included so if this is your first purchase you will need to buy a family to go with it.

Absolutely delightful. Lovely Sylvanian lighthouse that projects three light patterns and there's a good set of accessories to furnish the place that includes for outdoor excursions, a hot air balloon! What more do you need- well characters of course because as is often the case with these sets, you don't get any- but that apart this is an adaptable and well made Sylvanian building that is inter-connectable with others. Love it.

My 6 year old daughter loves this set. It took around ten minutes to set up. The accessories have lovely detailing and have been designed with a nautical theme. The figurines need to be bought separately. This is a great extension to a Sylvanian collection and an alternative theme to the traditional dolls house, encouraging imaginative play. The projected slides are fun in the short term, but the play house has longevity.

Can only give five stars as so great.First good size, large not massive so fits more placesSecond-quality is superb!- so well made and think will last so well.Thirds so fun and some bits for inside which is great fun.Forth it has great attention to detail with little floor designs that suit the theme and the whole style of it is so well thought out and fun.Fifth is great how it can project stars on to the ceiling.

This is an excellent size compared to some of the other houses etc my daughter has it was her no.1 gift on her list from santa when we went to open and put it together we assumed it was broken as the light didn’t come on but after googling it doesn’t work until I slide in a projecting image that wasn’t very clear to start with but this review may help others or maybe we just didn’t find that instruction clear ;)

A Christmas present, as yet not given, but our granddaughter will love it as a gorgeous addition to her Sylvanian collection. The night-lite light show is a bonus which I know she will be happy with. Well packed in a sturdy box but we had a sneak peek at the contents and pleased with what we saw so no worries wrapping it for Christmas.
