The latest instalment in the tactical-squad shooter field, SWAT: GST takes the player through 21 missions all over the world with two other characters, each with its own specialty, ready to bring down a multi-national drug cartel, or in other words, we have the token tech-guy and the token female sniper following our orders through a lot of maps.First off, I won't go into MP, because I haven't tried it yet.The difference from this game to other types of FPS's is the "compliance" button, since now we're part of a police organisation, we must arrest suspects instead of just shooting them in the head. There is a feature on the reticule which measures the compliance level of a suspect, and we improve this by shouting a lot and wounding him/her (oh, yeah, better shoot at any body part except the head or torso, otherwise, the suspect dies extremely quickly, and that impairs on the overall score, but more on that later...). Once the suspect is compliant, we can either restrain him ourselves, or order a team member to do it.This feature allows for some variety in these types of games, as we will be spending most of the time intently missing our targets, which quite often is more difficult than just shooting them in the head.A little about the reward and score system. This system measures our performance during the game, and awards points and medals based on the number of suspects arrrested, any excessive use of force used against NPC's, managing to save hostages without hurting them, etc, etc. With the acumulated points we can improve our weapons, but the amount of available points is dependent on the difficulty level, I'm still not sure if this is a good idea or not, with time maybe I'll get used to it, but this feels too arcade-like for a tactical shooter. What about your team mates? Well, there's two others, a technician and a sniper, they behave well for the current AI-software (meaning, they'll cover your ar$e and perform the assigned tasks efficiently). The developers added a nice touch of we taking over other characters in some missions, adding depth to to the game and plot. The orders include breaching doors, using door panels, defusing bombs and covering a specified point in the map.Weapons... This is the lacking part, I'm afraid... Only 5 weapons (assault rifle, machine gun, shotgun, sniper rifle and tranquilizer gun). With the reward system it is possible to improve on the weapons with better gunsights, increased ammo capacity, lower recoil, ect. But so far, I didn't see enough difference to make it worth. What's more, the game doesn't allow for much weapon variability, just stick with the assault rifle and flashbangs, more than eough to complete the mission. (It would be nice to have some stealth missions, where supressed weapons would be paramount.)About sound and graphics, they're good for the current technologies, not much to say about them, there are a few nice touches with the nightvision scope, smoke thrown up by breaching charges and flashbangs, but we've seen this all before. Though, the load times are a little bit too long for my taste,Well, in conclusion... in itself, this game is good, it has a solid storyline developing through 21 maps, large levels with plot events happening as we explore each level, solid AI (our team mates don't get stupid, the bad guys react in several ways to our shooting), nice graphics and sounds. A nice addition if you're into squad-based FPS's, though a little too arcade-like for comfort.

When i first got this game i didn't really think it looked that good, but then it got to me, the amazing graphics, the awesome weapons, the fun co-operative play, the great missions, the pure adiction! I will not say you could not get a better game, that would be lying, but almost every part of this game has an amazing up side...When i started playing on the missions they seemed pretty easy, but when i got to the fourth or fifth, i mas quite stunned by how you had to perfect the older missions, that put me out of cocky attitude... Once you have finally completed the first missions to perfection, you can move on to the harder ones, the guys are tougher, not gunna give up so easly, and the mission longer, but that wasn't a problem, still had me gawping at the screen for two hours a day, and i'm not even a gamer addict! All in all you should buy this game, not if your depending on multiplayer to get you through an afternoon with your mates though, becasue they may be fun but after a half hour of playing i had swapped games...

i was at first disapointed with the lack of weapons in this game but its not realy about that.its about tacticaly controling your three man strike team through differant locations over the world.you can complete each level by not killing anyone as you score much higher doing so, but its far more fun to be court-up in fire fights.its so much fun braking down a door and seeing your two team mates run in with youthe sound FX's, and ambient sounds realy draw you into the game. firing off your assault rifle after a few seconds of quiet is deferningthe 'iris' graphic filter works very well: dark shadows light up slitly after you walk into them and going into areas of sun you first see a your view ajusting to the light.if you've had anoth of scifi shooters on the X-box then get this, you will not be disapointed

Don't expect a copy version of Rainbow Six 3. This is far more of an arcade version. At first it seems too easy, and the initial missions are sailed through, without barely taking a hit, however later in the game you realise that you can't go any further without completing the earlier missions to near-perfection. You then have to go back and re-do them, being a bit more careful as to who you shoot and who you secure. Yes, the choice of weapons is slim, but there's everything you need there. The upgrade option is nice, and you soon find yourself with a fully kitted machine gun, telescopic zoom sights, tracer bullets, larger ammo clips, etc.All in all, a good arcade style team shooter.Just don't expect it to be too hard, even on Elite level.

i got this game for christmas and at first i was a bit disappointed howeverthe fast action and the ability to arrest through a variety of minplay tactic the team control is superb and after a while it will gret very rewarding with very little weapons you could say it was boring however you can tottaly upgrade nyour gun with ug points (clip size, ammunition type, scope etc)this wont entertain alla aundiences but certaily worth the money.

As I'm banned from my sons Xbox 360, I occasionally play this on his old original Xbox. What I like about this game is that you LOSE points if you kill people, so you use non lethal ways of arresting terrorists and taking them into custody. It doesn't however, satisfy the bloodlust of my genocidal son who is upstairs relieving the planet Halo of its inhabitants .
