I've around 35 harmonicas kicking round the house I suppose, a lot of Arias and Jambones (some of which are surprisingly nice) several one-off cheapos and a whole range of Hohners, mainly BluesHarp and ProHarp with the odd BigRiver and Special. My absolute favourite was always the ProHarp- the black Teflon jobbie - even though it has a slight tendency to bite the beard rather painfully but I play dirty wailing bendy delta style, not usually the Dylan/Lennon/Young type thing and the ProHarp wails like a bar steward and bends like a freight train. One day I was strolling round Bakewell, Derbyshire, and sneaked into a little music shop there (sadly now gone)to pick up a new pair of drumsticks and I spied a display case of Harmoniculas so went over and had a look. There I saw my first Suzuki and asked to see it close-up. It sat in my hand like a kitten snuggling up to a new owner, looking up at me and pleading for me to take it home so I bought it on a whim, impressed by the fantastic finish and apparent manufacturing quality and wandered off down to a deserted bit of riverbank and started playing to the ducks.Man, this thing was alive. It played itself as if by magic, wailing and swooping and growling and grooving and I was knocking out Sonny Boy licks on top of the Wolf and... WHY had I never seen one of these before? The ducks seemed to like it, anyhow and congregated round adding counterpoint. Maybe it was the bread. I played plaintive sad, lost blues and the Suzuki lead me through it like Virgil showing me how they do it down there and my heart ached like I'd never heard it before and I was listening to someone else, someone who really understood. It's really in a league of its own. In spite of what I said about it leading me into places it wants to be, it plays with no imposed character foibles or idiosyncrasies, it just responds and plays what I'm thinking and unlike the Hohner, doesn't snatch me by the upper lip. You don't have to be in _that_ kind of pain to play the blues. It's easy to keep clean - smooth, polished stainless and phosphor bronze and a splash round in the washing up bowl and a rinse have it like new again. Fairy liquid, naturally.Playing volume is fine so no great technique adjustment though I suspect it's a little louder in the upper register than the ProHarp - I tend to cup the mic so sometimes it's a problem with a new instrument. From now on I'll be re-equipping with these, unless something better comes along.Oh - the essential hat for blues harp performance - my review Low Crown Top Hat

I didn't buy my harp through Amazon, but I feel have to tell people how lovely it is! I bought a Hohner Golden Melody at the same time (because the tuning is supposed to be slightly different - Equal Tempered, correct notes vs. Compromised Just, blues tuning). I think the two instruments are roughly equal on the monetary scale, but the Suzuki is streets ahead of the Hohner! The Hohner needs different strengths of blow for some of the notes, whereas the Suzuki is superb right out of the box - you've only got to breath for it to make music. It has a much better tone, is louder, and the tuning is not obviously different while I'm blowing it. The stainless steel covers are silky-smooth,and the harp slides through your lips much better than the Hohner. The phosphor-bronze reeds mean that it should last a lot longer too. I don't really want to play my Golden Melody at all!! Suzuki seems to have all the finer touches. I think it's gorgeous!

My first ever Suzuki harp, having been a Hohner user for years. However, two duff Hohner D harps pushed me to trying the Suzuki. There are some differences but this is an excellent harp for playing blues. What are the differences? Well both have excellent tone, with the Hohners being slightly more husky and dirty, while the Suzuki a little more precise. You can feel the Hohner vibrating more as you play. However, these are very small differences. The Suziki bends very well and those notorious 2 blow and 2 draw holes play exactly the same as all the other notes - something I've never experienced with any of my various Hohner harps. Overall, this is a fantastic harp, definitely equal (though slightly different)to my Hohner harps. I mainly play blues harp and I'm happy to recommend it to anyone as an excellent blues harmonica.

Hmm... I've reviewed this item 3 times now but for some reason it keeps coming up as not reviewed!Ok, well I know very little about these. I bought this to learn to play and I continue to enjoy it immensely some 3 years on. It has an intuitive feel in the hand & mouth and a nice weight. Quality certainly isn't poor but I daresay a seasoned player might disagree. To throw that last statement into perspective, I was given a Honer Jazz Band harp as a gift... the Honer I know to be a high quality instrument and the difference IS evident between the two. Saying that, one cost £20 new, the other probably cost someone a weeks wages back in the day!For a first harp though I think this is a safe betat the price.I've certainly enjoyed mine and I'd happily recommend it to anyone.

Awesome Harmonica for the money.I looked on youtube to see what Harmonicas people were playing and the Suzuki's got high praise and rightly so.As soon as I played it I was amazed at sound quality but had been told they have the sound of a much more expensive Harmonica but at a lower cost. The Harmonica in 'C' is most commonly advised to go for if like me you are just starting off.If your not sure on what to get,go for this Suzuki and you won't be disappointed.Hope this review has helped in some way.Lee, South Yorkshire:-)P.S, Wasn't a prob for me but this products seller is in the USA so it could take a couple of weeks to arrive if u r outside US.

I go between bluesmasters and special 20s. The bluesmaster has a sweeter tighter sound with easier bends... Probably as its a bit more airtight out of the box, whilst the special 20 is a bit louder and grittier. As with almost all suzuki harps they are tuned to equal temperament, so the chords aren't quite as nice as the hohner chords. This is why I bounce back and forth between the two harps, they offer different things. Overall the bluesmaster is probably the best value harp in the suzuki range and despite what some people say I think they are better made than the hohners . Its so airtight and nice to play you won't be disappointed.

First score I gave this was 3/5 but the more I play it the more I'm liking it.I'm coming to prefer the shape of this harp compared to the standard tin sandwich style. The rounded cover plates going all the way to the end of the comb is very comfortable to play. There's no sharp edges anywhere and no risk of pulling any moustache hairs! The sound is mellow and its very playable. Bending is pretty good. The G key I got is great for chugging and train noises.I would place this alongside Special 20's and Lee Oskars in terms of quality and price range.

I started playing the harmonica when I was 11 years old and I am now 75 so I have a bit of experience.I have always steered clear of Chinese and Japanese harps as they were poorly made and rarely in tune. After reading some reviews of the Suzuki BLUESMASTER I decide to give it a go and boy am I glad I did.Its up there with the best straight from the box with good volume and very responsive.I would happily take this on stage with me without any problems and I will be buying a full set soon. Hope this helps anyone thinking of buying this lovely harp..

I bought a Suzuki Bluesmaster Harmonica in the key of C and I have just bought another one in the key of A and once again I'm not disappointed. Suzuki makes great harmonicas and I have been completely converted to them. Although these harmonica are classed as a beginner harmonica I know quite a few professional players who use them. Any harmonica is a personal choice for each individual but, for me you can't go wrong with this one. Lovely tone, easy to bend notes, durable, very comfortable to play and easy to take apart and clean.

I didn't buy my Suzuki Bluesmaster Harmonica from Amazon however, I use to be a big special 20 fan but, the Suzuki Bluesmaster is better. They have a nice crisp sound, great for playing blues, easy to bend especially on number two. Very comfortable to play and the reed plates are much more durable that the special 20. This is a great harmonica and in my opinion much better than some of the expensive harmonicas which I have in my collection.

a nice quality Harmonica,I have 2 of these 1 in a key of c the other in key of A I would reccomend to anyone wanting to learn Harmonica dont buy cheaper ones like I have in the past they arent worth it they are hard to blow..and dont last very long if your looking for a professional quality Harmonica go for one of these they are so responsive and easy especially for a beginner..a nice quality finish to this instrument its top quality .

I have a Hohner and a Suzuki, they sound identical. As a beginner, I bought the Suzuki after the Hohner as I couldn’t bend notes. Bending notes (which makes your playing bluesy) is apparently easier on the Suzuki, but I found that watching lots of YouTube videos eventually I found one that made sense and I’m bending away on both. So, for me, both are performing the same with Hohner having the edge for the name.

Of all the diatonics, and I reckon I've got a wide range of them, this gives the sweetest sound. Trouble is the reeds are so delicate. It's not long before a squeak appears somewhere. I've got about 8 of these in different keys. You need to take very special care to keep it in perfect order. I agree with a previous review that the Big River lasts much better but the sound is considerably inferior to the suzuki.

Beautiful, love it. I'm a bassist but have recently taken to playing harmonica whilst playing bass, or self- teaching/ attempting... I had a pretty basic harmonica as I was never really in to it but I thought I would upgrade. This one is perfect! Stunning, smooth, great sound and quality, lovely tone range; easy on the lips and beautiful. Highly recommended.

Wow, what a fab harp! Having had several harmonicas over the last four decades I've finally found one that does what I want it to do (At a reasonable price!) I don't profess to be a great player but this baby lets me bend notes like never before, and actually makes me sound quite good (My opinion!) Absolutely recommend.
