I like it. It’s exactly what advertised. It’s accurate and easy to use. No bubbles. Would be nice if it had a magnify part but I guess this would be for more expensive items...The dial does not glow which is fine as well. If you want this that glow you must get the extremely expensive ones that glow for hours and not the ones that glow for short time after exposure to light. Night navigation should not need light to make it glow since you either use a flashlight (ruin night vision) or best red light source.

I used this compass my recent trip to the Boundary Waters Canoe area. It was my "in the boat" compass. The long lanyard was attached to my life jacket, and I would set the compass on my leg and refer to it while paddling. It is easy to read at a glance, and not so expensive or fancy that I worry about banging it up or getting it in the lake.For as affordable as this thing is, there's no point in getting a cheaper Chinese product.

I like this compass. It is lightweight and (relatively) easy to use (for a compass.) Honestly it was purchased because I read an article stating a lot of backpacking noobs would go the wrong way down the AT during their first weeks. I did not want that to happen (obviously) so I ordered this. It points north, which fulfils my criteria. The more important person is my husband, who is boss with a compass, and claims it is great.

I have tried other, cheaper compasses and just proved the old adage "you get what you pay for". The cheaper ones did not work consistently thereby being useless. This Suunto seems to always point in the same direction as North giving me some confidence it is accurate. I need this compass to properly aim my portable dish for my RV satellite TV and it is critical to establish North as the first step.

A very basic baseplate compass and that is exactly what I wanted. Small, lightweight and best of all accurate. Keep it in the pocket of the waist strap on my backpack while on the trail. Comes with a lanyard long enough to hang around your neck if you wanna roll like that. Sturdy little sucker too have dropped it and stepped on it once and it still points north. Stop stressing and pick this one up

My dad has always had an earlier version of this compass when we went hiking/camping and has always been true and held up great. It's no wonder that I was gravitated to this product when searching for a compass of my own. I have yet to give it a solid test run, but it always seems accurate when I test the needle. Never gets caught up, very smooth action and feels solid for how light it is.

Does what a basic compass should do. Tested it on a hike today and it appeared to function properly: sent me in the right direction and got me back to my car. I don't intend to do any extravagant navigation--just wanted a basic compass that wasn't hard to figure out and would get me back on track in an emergency situation. This does that. So I'm a happy hiker.

Bezel is a little tight making it hard to rotate but I suppose too that that's a good thing as it locks in the bearing. The needle is very responsive to movement and settles immediately once you stop moving. I appreciate that Suunto provides instructions with their compass as I've discovered that not all compass makers do.

I bought this for my hiking pack so I would have a dedicated compass. I my short testing period, this device is very accurate. I have more trust for in this compass than something free that comes built in to some other tool. I don't count ounces as my hikes are short, but if I get lost I wanted something trustworthy.

I took my famuily camping and felt like responsibly i should have one of these things if we were to go hiking! I purchased this for just in case scenarios if we got turned backwards, and for teaching the kids. I felt better knowing we had it and look forward to teaching the kids how to use it to navigate.

I wanted a compass that my kids could use easily. I researched and Wirecutter recommended this one. I am pleased with the purchase. It is good quality, decent weight and heft. It is easy to read, isn't going to rust, reads true, and I like that you can easily attach it to a string, carabiner, etc.

Tried this at my house where I already knew what was due north, south, east, and west. Out of the pkg it immediately went to the proper direction. Came with instructions to use with a map. Glad to see that as I have never used a map alongside a compass before.

Initially i wanted to test the thickness & durability of these topographic models so i went with the entry level model & now that I've had & tested it, i can definitely say i will likely be buying the Suunto M-3 G model as it was always the one i wanted.

Lightweight, inexpensive, and easy to use. We had it along on a family trip to Yellowstone and the Tetons. A good thing to have a long Justin case. My kids also loved taking turns wearing it on its lanyard and learning how to use a compass.

These are very nice but the new one is bigger than the old model and I like the smaller one better. Also I ordered the Metric one, but its only half metric. The 1:24000 scale is in miles. I do everything in Metric and this is disappointing.
