The phone looks and feels convincingly 70ish. It, however, packs quite a few modern features under the hood (all cleverly disguised in the retro look):- the rotary dial will tone dial (good if you use it on a VoIP adapter that only supports tone dialling, switching to pulse dialling not possible so useless on an ancient phone line)- it has * and # past the zero (that makes it a bit less retro but it's rather useful)- speakerphone (mostly useful when dialling as the sound quality isn't that good)- redialThe phone has a true mechanical bell ringer and it isn't quiet as some other reviewers said. If it's too quiet and you're using the phone with a VoIP adapter it might have to do with the ring voltage/frequency.I melt every time it rings. The rotary dial doesn't feel exactly like a proper pulse dialling one as it turns back somewhat faster and makes a less clickety noise than a "real" one. The audio quality is excellent both ways. The receiver and the phone feel heavy and solid. A minor drawback is that the receiver sits a bit loosely in the cradle but that doesn't make the experience any less pleasant.Overall I love my new phone and I recommend it to anyone looking for that retro feel and look.

This really is just like I remembered when I was young and my parents had one of these in olive green I think. They then went onto a 2 tone brown and beige push button version with huge white buttons. Bought this for my wife as she loves retro stuff and it does look pretty cool - it also bemused our young children and our 20 odd year old nephew, who just didn't get it.Personally, its the most annoying thing ever. The bloody ringing drives me mad and I can't screen calls or let it go to answer machine. It just rings and rings and rings, very very loudly for what seems to be an eternity whilst the caller is obviously waiting for it to go to answer machine which it will never do.Some days,my wife even unplugs it when she gets sick of hearing it.Having said that, its not the products fault - its very well made, looks cool and is a great talking point when we have visitors. I think I'm going to have to get a 'normal' phone with a display and answer machine so I can screen calls and not get a headache every time it rings.

This looks great. It has a proper ring, it has speaker functionality and last number re-dial. Bought to replace a more modern phone with all sorts of functionality we didn't use and made it a pain to use, and that and the ability to walk around with it - this one you can't it forces you to actually sit down and talk properly. There is no answer phone which is brilliant as that just filled up with wrong numbers and cold callers. No number memory - but that is fine as we keep a phone numbers book anyway. It's a pleasure to use, it actually feels nice to be able to properly dial a number, something I can't have done for a couple of decades at least. A pure back to basics, well made, awesome looking, simple to use, tactile, telephone - fantastic. Get one for your home phone now.

Given to me as a Christmas present as I have always wanted one. i looked at reviews online and wasnt sure that this would be ok as some of the reviews are a little negative, BUT, I was totally pleased with this, its well made, not at all flimsy, its very sturdy, the ringing is great, maybe a little quiet, but maybe I am not quite used to the sound yet! I love this phone, though if you need to call anything thats a "press 1 or this or 2 for that" then you do need to use another phone, not a problem for me as I kept my previous phone and get it out of the cupboard and use it. Its a great product and reminds me of my childhood, my kids, not so keen, but then at first they couldnt work out how to use it!!i can highly recommend this product and would definitely purchase it again

If you like the clear ringing bell and robust, solid look and feel of an old-fashioned Bakelite phone but still want to be able to navigate automated menus when calling the bank or the gas board, this phone is perfect. After chatting away like a Mad Men character you can replace the receiver with a satisfying clunk - not the kind of namby-pamby effort you get with modern cordless phones, where you delicately balance it in the cradle and then check that the little LED has come on to tell you that the handset is recharging. Use the rotary dialler to select numbers on menus without being cut off if you have to, but this phone is built for calling police commissioners in smoky offices and flirting with your secretary in a throaty whisper. This is a man's phone.

Extremely pleased with this telephone. Looks like the original only a little lighter and slightly smaller. Bell ringer sounds like the old ones did. Dialling on it is easy once you get used to it. Sound is clear. Ringer volume and pitch is just right. Curly cord is a good length. Does have a slot in the back for carrying it around if you want to. Looks stylish too. Only glitch is that the receiver rocks loosely in the cradle - but its not a real problem, maybe the old ones did that. We are so pleased with this product that we are going to buy the cream one for our bedroom. An excellent telephone if you like retro.

I absolutely adore this phone. It's everything I remember and more. The only difference is the two prongs the handset lies on, they're not the like I remember, but you need to be really anal to even notice. It's great using the dial again, the novelty just doesn't wear off. And when it rings, well it's like going back in time. The hidden hands free button and redial button are a nice touch, keeping it looking authentic yet adding to it practicality. It's well built, good solid and nicely weighted. I couldn't be happier with it.

The service from this seller was really brilliant, the telephone [Steepletone Retro NT Corded Black Telephone] arrived ln less than 24 hours from the time I placed the order on the internet. Many thanks seller. 10 gold stars for service! The 'phone itself is all that I wished for but I do have one critism and that is the volume of yhe ring tone is very soft and adjustment to a loud ring is minimal (compared to the 'phones that had a "bell" ringer) otherwise a good "retro" product. Yes this is a reproduction, but it is definitely a successful one. Additions are tone dialling and a hands-free speaker phone. The phone itself feels solid and weighty (but not as heavy as the originals). The dialling takes a couple of tries to feel familiar and the lack of a speed dial reminds you of days gone by. The bell ring is authentic (not a speaker) and is audible clearly. I think it's a fantastic phone and it's a must buy if you want a 'proper' phone.

This is a fabulous phone. Nice and chunky and I love the little "tinkle" it gives when you walk past.Unlike the other review which says you cannot use the phone when you need to "press options" - it actually does work - you just dial the option rather than press it.I have BT answering service and again no problem when asked to press options to listen/save/delete messages - just dial the appropriate number!Excellent price too! Cannot fault it.

was really pleased with the phone, my kids were amused by it... does what it says on the box the ring tone is exactly how I remember as a child, really light in weight but doesn't move when using the phone. If you wanna go back in time then this phone is for you . Im well chuffed with it :-)

Looks the part, sounds freeway when it rings. Only slightly disappointing thing is that the dial doesn't make quite the same authentic clicking when you dial, and feels a bit plasticy. But, for less than £30 great value, looks good.

Retro look without losing the touch tone technology, having to dial on the round ring is like entering a time warp, it looks the part by adding a bit of class and nostalgia to the home (if thats your thing) - I just love it!

8.4.2013

I love this phone, it looks great it has the original roto dial BUT it has speaker phone and redial hidden very well so the phone looks 100% retro, its a talking point and I love the old style ring! :)
