Bought from Screwfix back when they had this on offer for £20, but it's definitely worth the current £29 asking price. It's very sturdy and comes with a waterproof seal so that your tools are protected in the rain. The tray inside isn't full length, but this is a good thing. The tray covers 43cm and can be positioned on the left or right side of the toolbox, leaving a gap beside it for more tools to pile up, or giving quick access to what lies beneath the tray. Mine is completely full of all sorts of stuff, and weighs 24kg. Although I can carry it, with one hand, like a normal toolbox, it is quite heavy to be holding by your side, and unless you are a very serious bodybuilder or strength trainer,it's going to put you off balance. Be aware of how heavy a big toolbox can get, it's not like this is on wheels.Overall solid build, would never worry about it breaking. Have to point out that sometimes the latches do get stuck, and have to be knocked to the side to be released. It happens when a screw from the moving part of the latch gets caught in the bracket.

Love it. Wanted a big toolbox for all my cordless kit. I might have had a miss spent youth playing Tetris, but it paying off with how much stuff I have in the trusty Stanley toolbox. I am able to fit a circular saw, jigsaw, drill driver, SDS drill, impact driver, grinder, multitool, orbital sander, battery charger, 4x 2ah batteries, 4x 4ah batteries and a multitude of drill bits and sanding and grinder disks.Truthfully when it is that full I can hardly pick it up, but it’s brilliant just to lift it into the boot of my car and knowing I have everything in it to complete any DIY job that I need to.Even with the toolbox do full, the handle and clasps do not feel like they are about to give way,and the box is robust enough to feel confident when cutting timber on the groove on the top.Personally I don’t use the insert tray as with all the tools in there is not the space, but I am very happy with the tool box and even debating getting another in the same line but slightly smaller for my hand tools.Overall it’s a really good, solid toolbox.

I swear by these tool boxes. I would not say they are the best, or the most functional for organising your stuff, but they are incredibly substantial for the money. If you are looking for a cost effective way to store and organise your tools, in watertight containers, then you cant go wrong. The 28inch model is huge. I dont have a tool longer than the box. And its spacious enough to not feel like you need to cram everything in every box. FYI if you filled one of these with JUST heavy tools like hammers and boxes of screws/nails, it would probably be too heavy to lift (its THAT spacious)Like I said, these arent the "best" but they ARE the best bang for your buck that I could find. I just 6 of these,so for just over £150, I can now store all of my tools, and have enough space for materials, scrap, glues and solvents etc. 150quid and Ive organised the lot. These are going to get the job done. One thing to note: make sure the lid is precisely aligned before shutting the closure. The first thing you notice about this toolbox is that it's solid. It feels weighty and when you hold it you can believe the claims about its strength and waterproof capabilities.Make sure you check the dimensions when ordering - this is a large toolbox. My 4 year old daughter also thinks this makes a great seat for her to sit on when I'm outside working in the garden! As in the description, it does include a "tote tray" for storing smaller items, but it's important to note this is only half the length of the toolbox. This means that while you can store a few smaller items easily, primarily this toolbox is only going to be useful for storing larger items which can be easily organised in the large storage area (or you're going to have a very messy toolbox)so this is unlikely to be suitable as your only tool storage solution.I'm pleased with the purchase and would definitely recommend this product for it's decent build quality but with the caveat about smaller tool organisation.

Nice size and good value for money. Of course the internal size is not what it could be - a long time ago an apprentice might have made his own box out of wood and it would have had a bare interior with more space and with clips in the lid to hold some of the tools in place. However, this Stanley box has a beautiful carrying handle which sits in a recess in the lid, which makes it stackable or useful as a platform (which a home-made one would be unlikely to match), but of course it's one of the things consuming internal space. Other than that, the latches on this Stanley box are very poor - they are loose and need to be carefully seated before closing them, as poor seating can make them jam shut severely, and then you need either a tool or at least some protective gloves (don't keep them inside the box, lol) to open them without losing fingers. That's the only reason I can't give the box 5 stars.

Deep and wide to store everything from my saw to selection of hand tools. I like thatbit has a rubber seal around the edge to keep out water although I haven't tested to see if this actually works. Great sturdy latches which can be locked. Lid has a groove to hold and cut items on top including measurements printed. Seems durable and although I think you could sit or stand on top I don't think it's really sturdy enough to take too much weight. Handle seems strong and thick enough to deal with heavier tools. I've managed to pack away the majority of mynmostbuseful and frequent tools and like the organising layer that sits in middle which can be moved.Overall great tool box but not sure great value for money in comparison to other toolbox and providers so loses a start. Otherwise quite pleased just missing a drawer to tuck away loose items.

I bought the 28" version after being so impressed with two of the 23" ones. The main difference I noticed (other than size) was that the tote tray wasn't sitting properly on its lugs, nor would it fall into place properly by itself. I think it had been put in place wrongly and caused the toolbox to bow outward slightly in the middle. I pushed the tote tray in properly (very easily) and have left it closed. Maybe it will settle into the perfect shape. This isn't a big deal, just something to check and watch out for. The lugs on the 23" are a slightly different layout, I don't think they can be affected by this minor problem.I stood on the 28" one with no problem,so it's not like the extra size has made it wobbly or anything.

so I was looking at robust hard plastic camera cases so I could pop the gear in the back of the car and it would not get damaged but they are £170 + so I brought this .. robust … water proof ( till I drilled holes in it ) .. decent size . I have brought some tie down loops which I have bolted on and some grey foam for the inside .. fraction of the cost and just ideal for what I needOnly down side which I assume with ease up , the water proof seal is a bit of a pain , I need to slam the lid down before I can dog the catches , shutting it normally means the catch is really difficult to dog down .

Brilliant toolbox, bought this to hold all my DIY essentials in. When filled up the case is still easy to carry, the strength of the braces closing the lid from the base is very strong making it completely waterproof. There is a seem around the lid to keep the closing of the lid nice and comfortable. There are two levels to store your tools in. Bottom section is most likely devoted to the bigger items and the top level for smaller pieces such as screwdrivers and files. Would recommend this to buyers looking to buy an affordable solution to store there tools in with top quality.

I was fed up with having several toolboxes and bags spread around my garage so I thought one large toolbox should sort it out. I am pleased to say it has and Stanley should be proud of their creation. It is a very large toolbox, even though I knew the dimensions before I received it, I was still surprised when I opened the cardboard box it came in. It is very sturdy and has a removable tray for smaller items inside. The catches for closing the lid are quite ruthless with knuckles and skin! Overall an excellent piece of equipment.

I've had this box for about 3 years now and it's been solid, been soaked in the rain, carrys a good load of tools everywhere, jumped on, dropped, kicked about. And it's solid as a rock, handles usually go on boxes by this time but this is fine, box itself is plenty big, plastic tray inside could have been better made but it's not bad.Only niggling thing is the catches have fallen off once or twice, they slip back on easily but it would have been nice to have seen them more secured. I've just araldited them into place now.

Make sure you get this on sale - don't pay more than £35 for it, as that is what I would suggest it is worth. I purchased it a few years ago and it has served me pretty well, with me only having to replace it when the catches finally gave up. That is my only gripe with this toolbox – over time, the catches can become harder and harder to close, which can be a bit annoying. But, as far as the actual sturdiness of the box goes, it is pretty good and it’s pretty large. Overall, I would certainly recommend it for under £35 :)

This is great. I was looking for something to fit all of my larger tools in, including a 20" saw and it does the job well. I don't have mountains of tools, but enough that my smaller Stanley tool box was bursting at the seams and wouldn't take any of my bigger tools anyway. Buying a second tool box solved this issue and one of this size. The quality and finish are really nice and it's strong enough that someone of my size can happily stand on it as a step. For me this was ideal and I would definitely recommend it.

It's big and strong. You can stand on it no problem. The problem comes if you fill it up with tools. The large size makes the box very heavy when loaded. The yellow gasget/ seal is quite grippy so the box lid has to be pulled up with a bit of force to open. I guess the grip will loosen with time. The metal catches need allignment occasionally in order to close them. Its a design issue that would be so easy to fix and needs to be adressed.Even with those issues/ niggles I'd reccomend this tool box.

One of my best purchases on Amazon. I did a long research prior to buying it and when I got it I knew I've made the right choice. The toolbox is definitely made to last. I've experienced the same issues that some people have written about in their reviews regarding the water seal. I solved this easily with spraying some dry PTFE on and now the lid can be closed without any efforts.
