After buying so much makeup, I had nowhere to store it all, and the designer carry boxes just didn't cut it, so I got this........ JOKING :P Girls can have tool boxes too :)True story: So After having to patch fences, mess about with heaters, buy spanners and Allen keys because flat-pack provided tools are pathetic, unscrew countless amounts of baby toy battery compartments,drill holes, put brackets up to put shelves up to put things on that toddlers can't put their inquisitive little fingers on - I had acquired more tools than would fit in the small plastic box that they lived in. My only option - Buy a man-box.This seemed just as good as others valued at £80, so straight away I thought something is going to be badly done,but reading the bad reviews didn't phase me. They all seemed to be from people who couldn't even figure out how to latch the two compartments together (and I'm ACTUALLY blonde)After comparing the good and bad reviews, I decided that it was worth the gamble (a 40 extra pound gamble if you're going by similar boxes by other brands). So that was that, I had bought this box.It arrived, along with some other items I had ordered, in a plain cardboard box, so I didn't actually know it was the toolbox until I had taken it out - not like anybody needed to even know that information, but "F" it, if you're still reading this, well done you, a pat on the back is deserved.The two compartments are a simple "stick one on top of the other" affair, and to release it there's a big yellow button. I could have probably figured out how to separate them without the big "PRESS HERE" stuff, I mean, it IS a button, but oh well, some people may need that? If you can't read then you might be stuck, but if you are this far in to this review, I'm going to question your claims of inability to read.The bottom compartment is easily big enough for a couple of different sized hammers, large screw drivers, hacksaws, spanners, duct tape, a smaller spirit level and a wrench with sockets (that's what I have in there) and there's still a lot of space. The top compartment is the reason I'm knocking one star off, the plastic lid is brittle and thin, that will, at some point, get cracked. The separate sections of the top compartment are adjustable though, they are all separated by yellow plastic cards that can be taken out and moved around, so you can change it to suit your needs.This was good for me, as I'm keeping serious DIY tools in the bottom and computer tools and parts in the top (water cooler barbs/compression fittings, thermal paste, case screws, small screwdrivers etc.)So for the price, it's great, I will only be using it around the house, so there's no real risk of damage to the top, therefore I expect it to last me a long time. I wouldn't buy it if you work on a building site, but then if you do, you probably already know what toolboxes are good.

Fed up with the cheap Ikea plastic box I had been using for my tools but was simply not strong enough, I decided to get a proper toolbox so spent quite some time researching.I was looking for something large enough to take my 20" saw and all my tools, but not so big that it'd be a pain to carry around. This seemed perfect, especially with the rave reviews it's got here on Amazon.I've just been moving my tools over to it and am mildly disappointed. Don't get me wrong, it's great for 20 quid, but you do pay for what you get. The plastics feel cheap, and although the main body will probably stand up to mild abuse the transparent lid feels a bit brittle. I doubt it'd survive a small hammer being dropped on it.The removable lid-box,a very clever idea, is hamstrung by being cluttered up by too many compartments. Granted, dividers can be removed to make the compartments larger, but I had been hoping to put my ratchet screwdriver box set in the lid for easy access & transport - not possible because no one compartment is large enough. The compartments are useful, but I don't see the need for so many - they're not really small enough for screws, but they're not really big enough for many tools, and the organiser unit is anyway shallow enough for tools not to get lost in it. A few compartments are useful but this many is restrictive.The space in the bottom is a bit disappointing too. It could really have done with being at least 5cm deeper. I can get all of my important tools in but I've had to leave out larger rarely-used items such as my tile grouting trowel, etc. I had hoped I'd be able to fit my torque wrench and socket set for removing car wheels in it but I'm not hopeful (it's in the shed at the moment - I'll go out to get it when the garden isn't soaking wet).It's unfair to blame my mild disappointment on the product - the fault is partly mine for assuming that since other reviewers were saying they were able to fit ALL their tools in it, that I would too. These people simply can't have a comprehensive set of tools - if you're a keen DIYer like myself with tools for car maintenance, bike maintenance, plumbing, kitchen work not to mention general screwdrivers & drill bits etc, this box won't be big enough for you. You'll either need something bigger or a second toolbox. If you're a professional, the box probably isn't sturdy enough to stand up to being thrown around in the back of a van.In fairness, this is probably the best toolbox for the price. I'd happily have paid twice as much for a bit more space and slightly better quality. In fact, Stanley would do well to release other toolboxes based on this design but in different sizes and for different purposes.

I have a fairly comprehensive tool selection, my main tool box is a Snap-On roller cab with a box on top but I have a smaller tool box in which I keep a selection of my most used tools which I can take inside or chuck in the back of the car. I'd outgrown it & found it had become cluttered & came across this on a "deal of the day" at one of the larger national DIY chains for just over twenty quid.Initially it seemed like a good idea & after I spent a couple of hours filling it, it still seemed like a good idea but with a few reservations. The idea of having a removable top is good, that carries all my smaller tools such as spanner set, screw-drivers,pliers - they all fit in with a bit of juggling & I find that the dividers have been useful for keeping them seperated. Below I keep a small socket set, a couple of organiser boxes containing electrical connectors in one & nuts, bolts screws etc. in the other. I can also fit in a hacksaw, a small pry bar, adjustable water pliers, a mini hammer & an old Nesquick container with more screws. I find that this, combined with a small tool bag holding my 9.6v 7 18v rechargeable drills is enough for 80% of the jobs I need to do.The main concern I have is that whilst the box itself is fairly substantial & the folding handle feels very good, I can see absolutely no point for the lid. I have no confidence that it will withstand any kind of impact from something being dropped on it & I'm not convinced that the hinges will stand much abuse. I'm looking at having a mate who works as a laser cutter, knock me up a cover to fix onto the lid. Also, why on earth have they made it clear? It's my tool box, I know what I keep in there, if you're working on site, I'm sure you're not going to be too keen on having random subbies being able to see what's in your box. Although, you probably wouldn't be using this box on site, you'd probably have the Stanley wheeled tool chest or galvanised metal box. If they had made the lid out of solid plastic, it would have been a much better box.All in all, a very useful sized box with a useful tote feature. Pity about the crap clear lid

This is hands down the best toolbox I have ever owned. Don't fret. Just buy it. I actually procrastinated for quite some time, because I thought it was silly to get yet another toolbox (I own 3 already). But I have not regretted it for a second. It just turned out to be so far superior to the others that they have all retired.I own a big old property and there are a lot of small maintanence work going on all the time. And this box lets me carry most of the items I need in a single practical unit. I have the 19" version and I am quite happy I did not get the bigger 24" version. It is a very handy size and quite roomy.The top organiser is big enough to hold a lot of small items that would otherwise get lost,and the single big room is big enough to hold a lot of tools and then some powertools as well. I have owned all kinds of toolboxes before, but this is the best one, without question.In my daily use, I often have some supplemental toolboxes for either big powertools, or specialized tools or assortmentboxes of screws and stuff. The extra boxes varies, but this box is the constant, because it is the heart of my mobile workplace.Get it. You won't regret it.

I had originally considered getting one of those metal cantilever boxes, but when fully loaded, the weight of it would have been quite something. So I then started looking for a solidly constructed plastic one and came across this.I think, as other reviewers have undoubtedly mentioned, the best feature has to be the detachable top-half, which you can carry around separately with all your screws, plugs, bits etc. It comes with a few plastic dividers to change the size of the storage compartments and also instructions on how to make more yourself out of wood/cardboard.As a downside, the depth is perhaps not quite as deep as you would think, but with some careful organisation you can fit most of your tools i.e.not throwing all your tools at the bottom and then hoping it will close! In the end I bought two, which now holds all my tools (though I probably have more than the average DIYer too).If they made it a bit bigger on the bottom, I would have given it 5 stars. However, for most people, I don't think that would be a problem.

The box is very well made with good detail touches. BUT it is not as in the picture. The product arrived with the large lower section and the clear lidded small parts section only. If the item shown in the picture had arrived, I would definitely award this 5 stars due to its quality of manufacture. I'm now ringing customer services.....Update....I've now been informed that this is a batch problem and is not a one off. The picture is still on display and in my view is deceptive and should be removed. I have been offered a refund (to Amazons credit) but it's a shame as I like the box.If you have recieved a box in this condition ensure you let them know.Further update..... Picture now showing the item i recieved.Now up'd my star rating as this box is very well made and carries all my electrical tools/equipment. I particularly like the lid ridges, which prevent small parts wandering around the box.

Wasn't sure i'd like this tool box at first as it is a large base box with a removable top box / lid.I use the box at work (I'm a maintenance Engineer repairing machines all day) and have found the box the best I've had in 20 years.Can carry larger tools in the base i.e. larger spanner, stilsons, hacksaws, multi-meter etc etc.Then put smaller tools / parts in the component tray lid. i.e allen keys, adjustable spanners, pipe wrench, tap wrenches etc. There are removable tray dividers that can be taken out so to semi-customize the component tray lid.I have mine on a trolley, as when full of tools can be quite heavy and I have a large site I have to get round all day.If just carrying for shortperiod of time when fully loaded the handle is comfortable and feels quite robust.Had mine 6 months now and no problems, will get another when this one needs replacing (which looks like a long time off)

First off, you can tell its solidly built and not a cheap knock off. The clasps and latches all feel well made, the two on top of the organiser are metal. The long carry handle is functional and seems up to the task.The main compartment is obviously long - but not quite long enough to fit my saw, which was a slight disappointment. Be aware it's main limitation is it is also not very deep, due to the organiser section on top.Consequently though, the top section is vast with plenty of room for a few more tools (stanley/snips/tape etc) and deep partitioned bays for screws nuts bolts nails, the sort of stuff which generally you find one by one around the house!Overall then it's real strength is storing smaller tools and nuts/bolts/screws etc.I would suggest for home DIY stuff rather than trade. Current price is also excellent.

A solid steady toolbox, with a detachable parts organiser. I actually did not like the way the top organiser came off to gain entry to the rest of the toolbox, when it arrived. But having used it for a while I do quite like the way you can take it away and move it independently from the rest of the box. I have a case for B&D Cordless drill which I keep screws and bits in the same idea of compartment organizer as a lid, the only difference is that it does not attach and is actually built-in. I had always prefered things that way and forgave the fact that the box fell over every time it was opened due to the dispersion of weight top vs bottom, until now that could be.This toolbox has me converted,its probably not a new design, but its innovation to me - and I like it!

Great toolbox by stanley as I have several stanley toolboxes I decided to purchase the Stanley 24-inch Tote With Organiser because you know that stanley build quality is good and made to last, the only let down is there's no inside tray, the handle is very heavy duty and a toolbox of this size when full can be very heavy and copes with no problems, the latches are very good quality.This is a very heavy duty toolbox that can be very heavy when full so make sure this is what you need before ordering, If you are after something that is small and light to carry around this ain't for you.I would recommend this if you are after someyhing that is heavy duty and will last a long time.Please click onthe “Yes” button below if this review has been helpful thank you.

At last, someone has actually designed a toolbox that works. having scoured B & Q, Screwfix and Too, Station for something to fit my needs I came across this by accident on the Homebase site but for convenience bought it from here. This toolbox is superb quality and value for money. The tool compartment takes my cordless drill, driver, spirit level, toolbox saw and much more and the organiser on top is so adaptable it puts other toolboxes to shame. Unlike cheaper toolboxes, this will last. The only niggle is that for some reason Stanley provide dividers for one less slot than the organiser can accommodate. Thats penny pinching.If you want to fill that last slot it'll cost you almost £6 with postage direct from Stanley.

Great toolbox. Or should I say toolboxES :)Press the big yellow button on the front and the thin top box hinges back to reveal the main toolbox area. There are no hinges though, and the top 'tote' thing just lifts away. That box has it's own fasteners and is great for storing screws, plugs drill bits etc.If I have any gripes, it's that I was expecting a little more room in the main box. I think the shape of it overall tapers in at the bottom giving a smaller footprint, but it's wider at the top.Generally though I'm extremely pleased with it and would highly recommend it. I've finally got all my tools and other stuff organised instead of everything being chucked in cardboard boxes and carrierbags!!

At the end of a long renovation I bought this tool box to tidy up all of the tools, screws, nails, wall-plugs, etc that I have accumulated over the past 3 years. And I must say that I wish that I had bought this a long time ago!All of my DIY 'bits and pieces' are now perfectly organised into the removable top tray, meaning that I am able to find things much more quickly now. And the top box is even big enough to told my screw driver sets, fillers and much more.The main compartment is big enough to hold every single tool I own, though it is worth checking the size of things such as saws before committing to buying this box.The 'man draw' is a thing of the past, the tool box is now king!

I have become a bit of an amateur bike mechanic of late. I have always liked to collect tools, from when I built and maintained my own sports cars, to more recently when I've focussed on bikes to share a hobby with my children.This tote box is big enough to hold every single bike tool I own, and plenty of other spares to boot. When we all go cycling with other families, I throw this into the boot of the car along with the stirrup pump, and I can ensure everyone leaves the car park with a perfectly-performing bike.The top portion is removable and can be used independently of the bottom half - in fact the bottom could be used independently of the top half too. It's tough too.

Having received the Stanley 197514 24-inch Tote With Organiser I was a little disappointed on two counts, which could have easily been remedied with a little thought.1) The Handle cannot stay upright as pictured, which is very misleading.2) The Tote has two slots for partitions for which a cardboard DIY template is supplied as you have to make them yourself. For the sake of two pieces of plastic, why not just include them & charge 50p more? Or even supply them as an optional accessory?A little more thought behind it & I would have awarded a 5 Star rating as otherwise it's a decent Toolbox & the detachable Organiser is a great idea.
