This is my third pencil now of this model. My first one was stolen by my Sister. She had one herself, but she wanted to take mine on a University trip which involved a lot of time out in the field. When she got back, she conveniently lost 'my' pencil and not her own (I had grounds to believe that it was actually her pencil she lost - which I was eventually proved right when she confessed to her crime).Anyway, the tension got so heated at one point that she bought me a new one right there on the spot. I should add that this argument went on for months. I simple wanted a confession. That's how much these mechanical pencils mean to us!With my second copy, we went the distance together. What makes these pencils so great is that they just have this perfect weight and feel. It genuinely feels like quality and it's rare to find all of the graphite broken inside. You can really hit the darker tones of the HB quite effortlessly while being just as able to be used lightly and for speed taking notes.I used my first copy back when I was at University. I had to do a lot of technical drawings of architecture or infrastructure and I can honestly say that it always allowed me to deliver the quality of drawing that I had in mind. My second copy was mostly used for a lot of note-taking and the occasional drawing. My new copy, as displayed in the photograph, is mostly unused for now. I only bought this particular ASIN because it came with the additional graphite. This is only a couple of quid more expensive than just buying the supplies individually - so I figured why not have a backup! In any case, I am prepared this time if my Sister plans on another heist...

Absolutely loved this mechanical pencil, I sadly lost the original one and didn't need to think twice before buying a second one. (I found the first one so now I have two!)The quality is great and the lead is strong but not too brittle. The pencil is not as dark as other HB pencils, which isn't really a problem for me as I use it for technical drawings rather than shading. After about a years use the silver painting on my pencil began to wear away, but that is the only difference between this one and my old one.My only problem with the product is the lead refill. The price of the product is great as the refill on its own is a good percentage of the price of the pen with the refill included. However the little tube the lead is in is not very secure. I left it in a small pencil case and after a few weeks the lid had fallen out and my refills had all been smashed to pieces. I was a little disappointed by this as I had been using cheap lead refills when doing sketches and using the staedtler lead sparingly, and as mentioned before the refills on their own are quite expensive, but worth it considering how many other wooden pencils I would have gone through had I not switched to mechanical.

Purchased this pencil to complete my set of Steadlter Marc Micros.Pros- The pencil feels to be of good quality.- The rubber grip is comfortable even for long periods of drawing.- The mechanical action feels nice.- 0.9mm graphite is great for sketching/drawing and breaks much less easily than thinner diameters- The colour coordinated nibs/ends help identifying pencils at a glance if they are in a desk-tidy (more useful than you would expect!)Cons- The rubbers provided with the Mars Micro pencils feel a little lacking. They are certainly less durable than the erasers provided with Pentel counterparts. It also seems replacement rubbers are more difficult and more expensive to source too!- The 0.9mm leads themselves appear to be less readily available than smaller more standard sizes (0.5mm).Conclusion: The negatives to this pencil are small and are vastly outweighed by the positives. In my opinion the Steadtler pencils feel nicer than much more expensive Pentel counterparts.

I have been using mechanical pencils for many years, working my way through a number of brands, and the Staedtler Mars Micro is the best I have ever had. Its particularly strong features are its lead feed mechanism - which is firm and has never given me any trouble - and the comfortable rubberised grip towards the bottom of the barrel. For what it's worth, the pencil's appearance is distinctive too, and the metal pocket grip doesn't detach itself.I don't remember when I bought my first Staedtler, but think it must have been at least six years ago. I still have it, and have just bought three more, not because of any problems with the original, but because I have gradually lost some others that I had for different places, different pockets, etc.The leads that come with the pencil - sadly only three as a starter - are superior to own-brand replacements from stationery chains. So I have gone back to paying Staedtler's price for 12

Alas, the short length of tube at the end does not retract on mine, so I suppose Staedtler changed the specification to save money. (You can still get tube retraction if you spend more on a pro version, I believe.) That aside this is a pleasant product to use, with the rubbery grip at the pointy end doing a good job. My first Staedtler was an absolutely basic clutch pencil with 2mm leads which I inherited with my predecessor's desk in 1978 and is in front of me as I write this! It was built like a tank. This one is less weighty but the push-button operation feels slick and the 0.9mm lead size is perfect for notes. I use this with Pentel Ain Stein 'B' leads for a good result. As others have said, the eraser at the top is a bit fiddly and you're better off with a separate Staedtler Mars Plastic eraser, which is the best I have found for everyday use.

I am a new convert to the use of these more modern designs of mechanical pencils and have concluded that this 'Staedler Mars' with the 0.9 mm leads is best for jotting down erasable notes and address book entries that you realise you no longer need some months/years later ( or details have changed ). I also have ones to accommodate 0.7 and 0.5 mm 'leads' which are good for sketching purposes. Putting in new 'leads' is a doddle via the loading point that you get to after taking off the chrome affect feeding button cover and the eraser beneath it. These things are very neat and are great for maintaining personal accountancy records that I can now erase from my own designed accountancy sheet atthe end of each month instead of being obliged to print off more of them ad infinitum.Eamonn

I bought this about a year ago and used it as my primary mechanical pencil throughout my Uni years.Pros:+ Super sleek appearance and build materials.+ Ergonomics are fine although a little on the small side (not a chunky pencil).+ Lead doesn't break as much (but still does occasionally).Cons:- Not sure how to get rubber replacements.- Sweaty palm users may sweat when using this pencil due to its size.- Lead still breaks sometimes.TLDR;I use this and the Mitsubishi Kuro toga mechanical pencil and I like this one more although it doesn't have fancy lead sharpening mechanisms. That being said, I really only use it because it looks nice and has a premium feel to it. Other than that,it is a reliable mechanical pencil that will get you through Uni days.

I do like Staedtler products, even though I have to check how to spell the name. This pencil is not different in terms of quality compared to their other pens/pencils. I went for the thicker 0.9mm lead this time rather than 0.3mm or 0.5mm so I can be a little more heavy handed. I use this pencil for writing rather than drawing because of the thicker lead, so if you like to write using a pencil then this one with the thicker lead is definitely worth it.update 06/03/2021.The clicking mechanism has stopped working. I've decided to order another one. Keeping the rating at 5 as I think I damaged the pencil. Still happy with the manufacturer and product.

I have used these Staedtler Mars Micro 775 Mechanical Pencils for years because they are robust & durable. An excellent feature is that you can retract the projecting tube (which supports the lead when in use) so that it is protected from damage (and doesn't stab you accidentally if you put it in your pocket). You used to be able to get easily (in artists' shops or good stationers) a range of lead-hardnesses (I prefer F) but it seems increasingly hard to get other than HB. Ho hum! such is the way of things.

I had Staedtler Mars Micro 775 .07mm bough in Staples store long time ago. But I wanted also something slightly thicker, so I ordered .9mm version from Amazon. Pen is good and now I have got very good set which suit my needs. I would recommend Staedtler Mars Micro 775 mechanical pencils, because they are high quality products. I like them especially because .7 and .9 carbon leads are not easy to break and they are very good for handwriting of various notes, sketches and to make technical drawings.

Nice little collection to my obsession on mechanical pencils. It feels smooth when I draw, however, the only drawback I've personally experienced is that I have to turn the pencil every few minutes to the sharper edge of the pencil lead since the lead becomes dull and the each stroke I make looks thicker whenever I want to keep it light, clean and sharp. I would recommend buying uni nano dia pencil leads if you want richer tones to your drawings.

8.3.2016

I bought this to use as a thin base for my zentangle pieces. It is very good, the lead is quite soft and easily breakable, which is different from my old staedtler pencil, but it's nothing that won't stop me buying again. The soft lead also means that it draws crisp and clean lines, which is something that my other, wooden pencils won't achieve, making it perfect for the purpose.

I've got back into Sudoku in a big way over the lockdown year, but found blunt pencils the bane of neat solving. This is just an excellent set. 0.5mm is fairly fine, it erases cleanly, so exactly what I needed to tidy up my grids. Don't think my mistakes have improved, but at least they're not smudgey! Highly recommended set, and 10 leads will last a long, long time.

3.1.2020

Good weight, holds lead firmly, and the HB leads it comes with are good. It has a seam line in the plastic barrel that cheapens it's look, but obviously that's a minor detail. Also it's a little tough to get the cover off the eraser initially, it required what felt like a lot of force and I was worried I'd break it.

10.3.2021

I use propelling pencils for drafting drawings and these are ideal for the purpose. The soft lead does not make permanent marks on the paper when I later rub them off after I have completed the drawing with lightfast and permanent Pilot pens. The lead is also much less likely to break than on cheaper products.
