As a Primary School Teacher who taught hand writing for 40 odd years, I can honestly say that the STABILO EASY original Handwriting Pen is excellent. If you or your child is right handed then this is the pen that will make their handwriting better by making it easier to produce a neat legible script.#That is all you really need to know but if you would like to know the reasons for my favourable views and a few suggestions read on.If you child is left handed then I would get the Left Handed Version. As soon as I held this pen and tried it I knew it was a brilliant, well-constructed design.Even my, neat script was better BUT, more importantly,it was far easier to achieve than a normal pen.Let me explain. The normal run of the mill pens in schools ten to be the Berol cylindrical ones. They have stood the test of time, are the right price for budget conscious Heads Teacher, reliable and washable. (unlike the Heads)But I never liked them for developing a good script. The grip wasn't quite right and the learner had to spend far too much time concentrating on getting the pen gripped correctly- which is hard for a child learning with a standard- one size fits all pen, and having to constantly readjust to do so rather than concentrate of the script they were writing.I noted the children soon got fatigued at having to hold the pen correctly and as time went for by their writing deteriorated negating the benefits of the pen.I had constant arguments with imperious Deputy Head Teachers and others who I realised had no idea what they were talking about to spend a few pence extra per pen and buy the better Stablo ones with the better grip. This is an excellent pen that is contoured and shaped so that the learner grips the pen in the perfect position. The grip is comfortable meaning the hand of the child does not tire and the result is all the concentration is on the script written. The result an easy style that makes it easier to produce a neat and legible script. Now a few tips.Make sure your child is sat in the correct position with the paper straight.(A quick viewing of the accompanying video explains and illustrates this well.If the paper is not straight in the first place then you are making it harder to write correctly.A simple yet all too often ignored fact. (Think back to the bad old days of school when you had limited desk space and had to turn your body and paper around just to get the writing down). Now some children are very self-conscious about 'having to use a pen that is for 'less able kids'.If you promote this pen as only being given to selected special children then you will go a long way to creating a self-fulfiling prophecy type of attitude rather than a negative one.Tell them the pen is stylish and trendy and all the other words and reassurance they need.If you buy this pen then have a quiet word with their teacher to enable them to use the pen in class is always a good idea.If you are unlucky to get a snooty non-responsive class teacher go over her head.Teachers hate this and soon kowtow. Most reasonable and sensible teachers (underpaid and overworked) will thank you for this thought. If you do get the odd one ask her to try the pen herself and then an ordinary one and compare the writing.Mine was far better with this pen so that should convince them. Thanks for reading.I hope your child develops a neat and legible hand writing style.

This was bought for my 82 year old mum. She has recovered from a stroke last year but still sometimes fumbles with her fine motor skills. She has reported that the fatter design of the main body of the pen with strategically placed grooves for the middle finger and thumb makes gripping easier and gives more fluid control of writing. The outer colour of pen has no bearing on the ink. They come with a refill which can be changed by unscrewing narrow end of pen. Refills are available in black and blue so the ink colour can be changed according to your needs. The refills are sold in multi packs which cost less than pen, making it good value in the long run.

This is an interesting writing instrument – it has been shaped to make it more comfortable to hold.Unfortunately the finger placing are in the wrong place for me – they were obviously designed and moulded by someone with bigger hands. However it doesn’t mean that it is uncomfortable to write with as I found out when I was doing my research and needed a working pen.It is a smooth writer with very little blotching and even though my fingers didn’t go where they were supposed to it was nice to write with. This is definitely a pen that I will be carrying in my bag when I go out to the Uni library again to do some more research.

If you are like us then you have come to these usually from a recommendation from an OT or school. My youngest uses these due to fine motor skills issues and we have had no problems with them. The whole brand line are great and ink in them last a while as well. We have used them for years and they are very durable and ours stand up to a sensory chewer as well. The ink is easy to change and this one is designed for write handed writers but you can get others for left handed use. The wider range on their web site also includes pencils and fountain pens for older children's needs.

I've been getting the left handed one for my son for a few years and he loves it. So I got my daughter a right handed one and she's not so keen on it. I asked her why and she said she can't hold it how she normally holds pens. This had me wondering how she does hold pens and she's obviously learned a different way. I think the Stabilo Easy is a really nice to hold pen and it writes perfectly for school work. Unlike the Berol handwriting pens, you can change the ink in these ones. Replacing cartridges that have simply run out or switching between blue and black.

This is a great pen, for focusing on grip and position. My son struggles to control his pen so this was ideal. The dips in the barrel encourage finger and thumb control, and the curved end allows for a comfortable hold in the hand.He is able to direct the pen much easier than before, and he likes the smooth feel. The pen is refillable too - so as long as it doesn't go walkabout this pen is one to last. There are little name stickers included so hopefully this will help!A great pen, for those that struggle with pen grip or spidery handwriting - or both!

I chose this for my just turned 7 year old son. I've used the left-handed items for many a year and as his writing is a little higgledy piggledy I thought this pen may help him. He said his fingers and thumb "fell" into the correct position and that there wasn't any other way he could hold the pen except in the way he was meant to. The bits of writing he's done since the pen has arrived look more controlled and not as scrawly in places. It has been a hit with him as he says his work looks better and more readable. It was him that gave it 5/5.

Not only great for small hands to grip when learning to write, but also fun and funky looking with the green and silver design which also makes it suitable for all age groups, and not just learners. It really is very comfortable to hold and can be used by both right-handed and left-handed people with ease. The pen is non slip and the ergonomic design reduces fatigue / writer's cramp in the hand - a common problem for small kids who tend to 'hang on tightly' when learning to write.Personally, I'd prefer black ink as standard.

Wonderfully designed pen very curvy and ergonomically designed to fit into the hand beautifully. The grip of a pen greatly helps to improve handwriting and wonderful flowing curved design allows the pen to fit naturally into the hand to reduce fatigue and allow extended use. The roller ball is very smooth and allows ink to flow smoothly and effortlessly onto the page. Comes in 9 great colour combinations. What can I say, seems a little expensive however this is a great writing tool.

Really good for teaching kids how to grip their pen correctly. My son has hypermobile thumbs and so has problems holding his pen. This pen has dents in the side to let you position the fingers correctly, plus the surface is non-slip so they won't move about. Really good. The rollerball is nice and smooth, writing across the page easily. I don't have an ink eraser so could not test out the purported erasability of the ink.

This does work though probably not for everyone. I have tested it a few times and for most of the time it does quickly lead to noticeable improvements but occasionally it doesn't at all. You can see this in the wide spectrum of reviews though of course most are very positive. This is easy to use and just as a pen it is okay. As it is more expensive then the standard I would advise people to check it out first if possible.

I bought this to do my mock gcse exams, it has been excellent. One ink cartridge lasted 8 long exams and i was impressed by this. The grip makes it easy to hold and requires little effort to write. Despite this being aimed probably at primary aged kids it has still been a great pen for me and i will be ordering more when the real gcses come around. I would reccomend this product to anyone needing an ergonomic pen.

Although marketed for children, the design of this pen also makes it ideal for anyone with grip issues due arthritis or other similar conditions. These pens were ideal for my mum who struggled both because of her arthritis, and because she was forced to write with her right hand as a child.Pens are very comfortable to write with for extended periods and being refillable makes them good value for money.

It looks odd I will admit and as an adult I knew very quickly that I woudl never get used to this. My six year old granddaughter, however, who is just starting joined up writing found it ideal. I can't testify to how much better her handwriting is with this pen than with others but she holds it more easily and seems delighted with it. Might be worth a try for children moving from pencil to pen.

Brought this for my 5 year old nephew to help him with writing. It's really good and has helped to teach him to hold a pen/pencil correctly. The only thing I have noticed is that the ink only flows when the nib is at a certain angle. This can be a problem because then you have to change the way you hold the pen, therefore making the grips a bit useless. Don't think i would repurchase.
