As a Primary School Teacher who taught hand writing for 40 odd years, I can honestly say that the STABILO EASY original Handwriting Pen is excellent. If you or your child is right handed then this is the pen that will make their handwriting better by making it easier to produce a neat legible script.#That is all you really need to know but if you would like to know the reasons for my favourable views and a few suggestions read on.If you child is left handed then I would get the Left Handed Version. As soon as I held this pen and tried it I knew it was a brilliant, well-constructed design.Even my, neat script was better BUT, more importantly,it was far easier to achieve than a normal pen.Let me explain. The normal run of the mill pens in schools ten to be the Berol cylindrical ones. They have stood the test of time, are the right price for budget conscious Heads Teacher, reliable and washable. (unlike the Heads)But I never liked them for developing a good script. The grip wasn't quite right and the learner had to spend far too much time concentrating on getting the pen gripped correctly- which is hard for a child learning with a standard- one size fits all pen, and having to constantly readjust to do so rather than concentrate of the script they were writing.I noted the children soon got fatigued at having to hold the pen correctly and as time went for by their writing deteriorated negating the benefits of the pen.I had constant arguments with imperious Deputy Head Teachers and others who I realised had no idea what they were talking about to spend a few pence extra per pen and buy the better Stablo ones with the better grip. This is an excellent pen that is contoured and shaped so that the learner grips the pen in the perfect position. The grip is comfortable meaning the hand of the child does not tire and the result is all the concentration is on the script written. The result an easy style that makes it easier to produce a neat and legible script. Now a few tips.Make sure your child is sat in the correct position with the paper straight.(A quick viewing of the accompanying video explains and illustrates this well.If the paper is not straight in the first place then you are making it harder to write correctly.A simple yet all too often ignored fact. (Think back to the bad old days of school when you had limited desk space and had to turn your body and paper around just to get the writing down). Now some children are very self-conscious about 'having to use a pen that is for 'less able kids'.If you promote this pen as only being given to selected special children then you will go a long way to creating a self-fulfiling prophecy type of attitude rather than a negative one.Tell them the pen is stylish and trendy and all the other words and reassurance they need.If you buy this pen then have a quiet word with their teacher to enable them to use the pen in class is always a good idea.If you are unlucky to get a snooty non-responsive class teacher go over her head.Teachers hate this and soon kowtow. Most reasonable and sensible teachers (underpaid and overworked) will thank you for this thought. If you do get the odd one ask her to try the pen herself and then an ordinary one and compare the writing.Mine was far better with this pen so that should convince them. Thanks for reading.I hope your child develops a neat and legible hand writing style.

I have always held a pen wrong and for one reason or another nobody corrected me when I was younger. This has led to cramps on my hand when I'm writing and a poor handwriting.I bought this pen because I thought it could help with my writing and it really has! Although I still hold a pen wrong whenever I get a chance, muscle memory and that, this pen reminds me where my fingers are meant to be. I believe that with time I will automatically start holding a pen correctly even when using 'normal' pens. My handwriting is still a bit shaky - I am learning to write all over again - but I predict this will get better.I already have a better control of the pen and once my muscles get used to the new position the shakiness will hopefully go away. It's not the most I've ever spent on a pen and for a unique design such as this the pricing is quite good. The pen itself is good quality, it hardly skips, the ink is quite good, hasn't bled whilst I've been using it and the overall design is very functional, cannot complain. Does its pen jobs as you would expect. If you're holding your pen in a weird fist-like position like me, you have a bad handwriting and you get cramps, try this pen! It really can help.

*UPDATE* The problem with writing Amazon Vine review items is that sometimes 30 days isn't long enough to see how good a product is. My son has persevered with this pen, taking into school, where they have been impressed with the improvement he hasmade. Whether this is attributable to the pen, or his hard work (it's something we've been working on) I'm not sure. Perhaps just the simple act of being given a special tool, gave him the confidence to write freely. Anyhow - he's made huge leaps in the 6 weeks or so since he's been using this pen.I think this is a bit of a gimmick really. My son, who doesn't enjoy writing, found this no easier. I've had a go, and I didn't find it as smooth as our usual Berol handwriting pens, but then I'm left-handed. This certainly hasn't revolutionized my son's writing. I had hoped it might make it a little easier for him, but it doesn't seem to have made any difference.

This is really designed with children in mind. My grandson doesn't have a problem writing. However, everyone that knows me will tell you that my normal handwriting, unless I'm concentrating really hard, is like shorthand and it tends to be down to the way I hold the pen, I have a touch of arthritis in my right hand. This pen is designed to make sure that your fingers are in all the write (sorry couldn't resist the pun) right places and you develop muscle memory to keep it that way when you eventually switch back to using a normal pen. There's a cap to put over the pen tip when you're not using it. A plus with this pen is you can get refills, which for me proved useful as the original cartridge stopped writing after a week. You can also get a left handed version of the pen if your child is left handed. I don't know why the don't start all children with this type of pen, it would seem logical to me.

I have seen these pens on the market for some time and I have never gotten around to buying one. This came up for review and I thought I would give it a go. Of course you must make sure it is for the RIGHT or LEFT hand when purchasing. The pan here, seems to be aimed at children, but can be used by adults and myself and another family member gave it a go. The nib cover semi-screws-off, to reveal the roller-ball nib, which isn't a gives a medium line. The thumb and forefinger rest in two specially designed indents. They feel comfortable, and as someone who has problems now holding a pen or pencil because of a connective tissue disorder, this helped my fingers/hands to hold the correct shape, without feeling uncomfortable. The ink flowed freely and my writing was legible which made a nice change! It is good that refills are available, too. A good pen and one I shall definitely be using.

My daughter who is three and a half has been "writing" for a while but that's mainly been tracing letters and numbers. Now, she is starting to copy her letters and as she was holding her pens and pencils in an extraordinary number of configurations, I thought that this pen might be useful for her.It has helped a lot. Rather than me just explaining where her fingers and thumb should go, she can see and feel because of the grooves in the pen barrel. Her control over the pen is much better and she is gaining in confidence. The pen is not without it's problems. Whenever she uses it her hands seem to get covered in ink. I don't know how but it always seems to happen. It is also annoying that the pen cap doesn't fit on the end of the pen whilst you're using it. Unless we're very careful sooner or later that pen cap is going to be lost.Overall though very useful if a little messy.

I have a grown up son with Aspergers, mild learning problems and who is almost total ambidextrous, the latter being more of a hindrance than a help in learning how to write legibly. He is mostly right hand dominant but not much and I thought a pen totally geared towards one hand might be useful for him. After a couple of tries I think I was right. He definitely has a much better grip of the pen, which will always help, and he seemed to write more firmly than with a normal pen. What he wrote looked a little better than his writing usually does but there's where the one thing I'm not keen on became obvious. The ink flow is quite broad and I think it would be a lot better were it thinner. It would help the writing to be clearer. All in all though I like this a lot and wish he'd had something like it when he was at school.

This little pen is great for children who are beginning to move from scribbles to writing to develop the correct position without causing stress or strain to the hand until the strength grows over time. For this reason it is also an excellent pen for those with any kind of motor issue, arthritis or indeed dyspraxia to help support the bones and joints of the hand from unneeded stress when lacking the hand strength to hold a traditional pen comfortably. There are a choice of colours, but this despite being blue is fine for unisex and any age. It is much easier to hold than s traditional pen and I would definitely offer this to my daughter when she learns to write if she chooses to prioritise herright hand as she is fully ambidextrous at the moment.

This encourages you - pretty well forces you - to hold a pen correctly. It works surprisingly well.It is remarkable how holding a pen correctly makes a difference to the speed and quality of your handwriting.Someone who's used to holding a pen in a different way will find it awkward to re-learn it.A good bonus is that it's refillable. This rollerball is much more pleasant to write with than a ballpoint pen, and tends to make your handwriting much better. The difference between writing with this and an ordinary ballpoint pen is remarkable. While you can achieve much of that just by switching from a ballpoint pen to a rollerball, this also teaches good habits by encouraging you to hold a pen correctly.

Stabilo have introduced these funny-looking pens to 'train', children to use the correct grip when writing. Because of the shape. it's very difficult to pick up the pen and use it in any way other than the 'approved' method.Teaching good writing habits from the outset will inevitably lead to a good natural holding position when picking up a 'normal' pen. This will reduce instances of writing fatigue - and the associated cramps.I've reviewed the new Stabilo pencils which are aimed at meeting the same objective. My issue with them was the price - which I considered to be too high. The same criticism applies here, though I consider the cost of these pens to be marginally less extreme.

This was bought for my 82 year old mum. She has recovered from a stroke last year but still sometimes fumbles with her fine motor skills. She has reported that the fatter design of the main body of the pen with strategically placed grooves for the middle finger and thumb makes gripping easier and gives more fluid control of writing. The outer colour of pen has no bearing on the ink. They come with a refill which can be changed by unscrewing narrow end of pen. Refills are available in black and blue so the ink colour can be changed according to your needs. The refills are sold in multi packs which cost less than pen, making it good value in the long run.

The strange shape of this pen forces the user to hold it in a precise way - this eliminates the 'scrunched up' writing position that children use. It does this admirably well. The flow of ink is really good - it feels like a fountain pen, and looks like it on the page, too.Size-wise, this pen is a little bit small for adult hands, but the shape and contours still have the same effect. The cap can be fitted onto the tapered end. This pen works. But it needs to be reinforced with a lot of handwriting practice for it to really show what it can do.Now if only they could the same with a knife and fork, my son could almost pass as civilised!

This is an interesting writing instrument – it has been shaped to make it more comfortable to hold.Unfortunately the finger placing are in the wrong place for me – they were obviously designed and moulded by someone with bigger hands. However it doesn’t mean that it is uncomfortable to write with as I found out when I was doing my research and needed a working pen.It is a smooth writer with very little blotching and even though my fingers didn’t go where they were supposed to it was nice to write with. This is definitely a pen that I will be carrying in my bag when I go out to the Uni library again to do some more research.

I've been getting the left handed one for my son for a few years and he loves it. So I got my daughter a right handed one and she's not so keen on it. I asked her why and she said she can't hold it how she normally holds pens. This had me wondering how she does hold pens and she's obviously learned a different way. I think the Stabilo Easy is a really nice to hold pen and it writes perfectly for school work. Unlike the Berol handwriting pens, you can change the ink in these ones. Replacing cartridges that have simply run out or switching between blue and black.

This is a great pen, for focusing on grip and position. My son struggles to control his pen so this was ideal. The dips in the barrel encourage finger and thumb control, and the curved end allows for a comfortable hold in the hand.He is able to direct the pen much easier than before, and he likes the smooth feel. The pen is refillable too - so as long as it doesn't go walkabout this pen is one to last. There are little name stickers included so hopefully this will help!A great pen, for those that struggle with pen grip or spidery handwriting - or both!
