How did they manage to make this game so much better then tricky? I didn't think it would be possible. This game is perfect in EVERY way, it has awsome graphics, brilliant sound and is VERY addictive. In SSX3 you can now buy clothes for your character and put them on seperatley, so instead of just choosing costumes like in the previous SSX games you can now have any combination of items you want, and there are lots of different items of clothing available to buy and win. This allows you to make the ultimate customized characters dressed to match your taste, very fun. You can now equip ANY board you want because the boards don't effect your stats in this game so you can go for the best looking boards instead of the ones with the highest stats. The Uber Trick system as also been upgraded.Every character starts with 6 uber tricks that they can perform but once you start earning some money from winning events you can buy new ubertricks and equip them and set up your character just how you like them with all of your favourite uber tricks. All of the characters can buy and perform all of the ubertricks so you won't have a problem with not being able to use the ones you like best. The new soundtrack greatly improves gameplay with customized play lists. This game has something like 35 tracks from real artists which you can listen too in 2 different ways. You can either tune in to Radio BIG with DJ Atomika which plays all 35 tracks in random order with the DJ giving you mountain updates or you can buy your own songs in the shop and make up your own playlist so you never have to listen to any of the tracks you don't like. You can also listen to your playlist with the DJ which basically turns it into Radio BIG but without the tracks you don't like.A device called the M-comm which all of the boarders have now allows you to recieve text messages from other riders which inform you of when the computer has broken your records on certain tracks or you can recieve hatemail from riders if you start knocking them over during events. Quite a handy tool.I am also very impressed with the improved AI of the computer controlled characters. If you start knocking them over they will start fighting back very well, or even ganging up on you if you make too many enemies. If you make them too mad they'll go out of their way to make sure you get knocked down. The computer now actually takes shortcuts so winning a race is now much harder than simply smashing through a sign or two and ending up a minute ahead of the computer, this makes for very challenging and fun gameplay. Finally, one of the best features of all in my opinion, the online play. I absolutely LOVE playing SSX3 online with people from all over the world. You connect the the EA servers and join chatrooms with other players where you can all talk and challenge eachother to play games. The games you play will go down on your ranking and you can see how many games other people have played, how many they have won and how many they have lost. If you perform particularly well in an event online you can also get online records where you will go into the list of the top 100 on each track for time or poitns. If you're thinking what i used to think, that this game wouldn't be very different from tricky and you won't get much gameplay out of it, don't. SSX3 almost seems like an entirely different game with every aspect improved. It is also far more challenging than the previous so you now actually need to evlove strategies for each track if you are going to get the gold on each.I would recommend this game to anyone who played one of the previous 2 SSX games and liked them.

SSX3As soon as I heard this game was hitting the shelves I already had my snowboarding gear ready. Ssx Tricky was a personal favourite of mine. But would Ssx 3 live up to the legends that were Ssx and Ssx Tricky? These thoughts were rumbling away in my mind while I waited until my game arrived. When I finally managed to get my hands on a copy of Ssx 3 it was better than the first two put together. This game is a must have for all Ps2 owners. This game is great! Unlike the familiar worldtour taking place in Ssx and Tricky, Ssx 3 offered something new. Something different, something big. Big Mountain. Big Mountain is where the game takes place featuring 3 different peaks with races ranging in difficulty from the fluffy Snow Jam to the sharp, rough, edge of your seat (or snowboard) Gravitude. One of the other great elements of gameplay the superb Ssx 3 offers us is an entire new style of customisation. In the old versions of the game you would earn new stats with every race you won and be awarded with new boards and clothing in similar ways. Ssx 3 offers you cash. Win races to earn cash. It's up to you what you do with it. Will you go and buy some new gear for your snowboarder, save up for some new stats or go and buy the new Ssx trading cards from the lodge? Whatever you do there'll always be something new to do to your boarder.Ever fancied exploring the tracks of Ssx on your own? Just you, a board and the dazzling mountain range of Ssx? Try a few big challenges and earn a bit of money? Now you can, explore at your own will (or risk) go anywhere you want. The new tracks are definitely something to be desired in this third instalment. My personal favourite being Ruthless Ridge, you can be chased by an avalanche, take mind blowing shortcuts or just be boring and stick to the track. The most ambitious project of Ssx 3 had to be the new track types. Pull off insane tricks hundreds of feet above a huge snow blanketed half pipe. Go insanely high in the big air event and new slopestyle courses designed especially for those great tricks you can now pull off in Ssx.The tricks, since Tricky, Ssx tricks have been something to be adored and praised. With a new boost system in place, super uber. The tricks you pull off really contribute to your boost, that will be helpful in some of the harder stages. You can now also customise your tricks to make your rider even more unique to you.New characters include Griff (a 12 year old freak), Viggo and Allegra. The good old veterans make an appearance. Elise, Psymon and Mac are all still in the running and each one is unique.Ssx 3 has a new soundtrack. Songs by Fat Boy Slim, N.E.R.D, Yellowcard and more make the sounds on Ssx ever more enjoyable to ride to. Shame about the disappearance of ‘It’s Tricky’ (I love that song). However the soundtrack is customisable and very handy. No matter who you are Ssx is going to be fun. With multiplayer and online capability you’ll keep on coming back for more. Every time you play this game you’ll come back with something. Whether it’s a stack full of money, a new medal on Metro City or even a new pair o’ gloves for your rider.Buy this game!NOW!You won’t regret it.

Having played the first 2 SSX games on the Playstation 2, I can say that SSX 3 is a great improvement on what has gone before. New features include:- One massive mountain, divided into 3 peaks, which you can explore freely in between events.- Expanded Uber trick system, including rail tricks and monster tricks.- Earn cash through finding secrets and winning events. Spend cash on rider stat's improvements, new gear to wear, music tracks and art.- Greater variety of events, including big air and rival challenges.SSX is a lot different to all the other snowboarding games out there such as Amped. SSX throws away realism and instead focuses on massive tricks, imaginative courses and high speed.I personally love the arcadey feel to the game and simplicity of controls, but if you are after a more serious game this may not be the one for you.The parts I love the most are the new ability to explore the mountain at will and find hidden items/challenges. It's great to just cruise with no real goal and see what you can do. Also, I was very impressed by the amount of customisation you can do with the riders. There are hundreds of things to buy and wear, from new boots to skeleton heads. My main complaint with this game is that you have to build up each rider separatley. If you unlock all the peaks with Kaori (the cutest rider!), you still have to do it all for the rest of the riders. This extends the gameplay, but makes it very repetitive. However, if you want to play a 2 player game with maxed out character stats, you must earn all those stats for each of the riders you will use. This took me about 12 hours for each rider!Despite these flaws, this is still an excellent game that is fun for quick blasts or when you have your mates over. See you on the peak!

Not much can be said about this game. EA Sports have got pretty much every aspect of the game spot on. If you think that this title is going to be another one of those " completed in an hour" game think again. SSX3 boasts fantastic gameplay with a huge library of tricks at your disposal, allowing you to complete some of the most un-realistic but funny tricks. The player, once on the mountain, can choose which races they want to enter buy going to the race start or going to the transport section. The M-com is the center of it all! Allowing you to check messages, transport and restart races etc...Changing weather conditions also add to the supreme realism of the game, with heavy snow at times and also crisp blue skys; varying on which part of the mountain you are on.After every contest your rider enters, you win a money prize; getting larger amounts of as you progress through the game; can then be spent on items such as silly hats, new clothes and boards etc. The player can also spend this money on improving this boarder's skill. This later on will allow you to be the 'perfect' boarder. One disadvantage to conquer the mountain is you have to complete it with every boarder, meaning that if you choose to have a mess around you have to select the player you have completed the mountain with, as choosing other boarders will mean the other two peaks out of the three are still locked.Music and graphic wise the game is superb with a great range of music for every taste and the usual voices for the characters with a range of speech that will be heard when the boarder does something bad/good. The graphics are perfect with realistic avalanches and a fine looking Elise :-)Overall this definetly is a game worth buying9.2 out of 10

This new game SSX3 is a massive game. It has 32 types of snow and ice for one thing and the new graphics and physics engines are awesome: jaw dropping visual effects show mountains and near photo quality graphic effects even if the charachters are a little cartoony; the physics are a mark of genius with myself being a snowboarder i can honestly say that the physics of the game are not like the real thing with the playable charachters doing insane stunts and grinds of tiny ramps and mile-long rails. There is so much i could say with the 1,000 words but here goes the features,.there is one mountain but many tracks on which to roam with your board you can even go up chair lifts and the like whereyou see fmv's of you charachter.you have a pda kinda system that enables you to talk with other riders.. Apparently it turns day to night(big rumour). You are able to choose your tricks (ubers aswell). The new tricky system is called uber tricky or something similar.and it is a spiral instead of hoops (the uber gauge i mean).each player has more than 5 uber tricks now!All in all i think this is a very good game. It is packed with high octane and adrenaline filled moves that will keep you in a dark room away from society for about 6 months. Definatley one to buy even if you are not interested in extreme sports. The playability and longetivity, with the contraolls being slightly annoying but easily managible after your first run, it will last for ages since there are loads of different types of compotition such as big air, slopestyle, freestyle super pipe and many more.It is a great game and i give it 100/5

This is the best game ever in the history of best games. If you got a really great game, and made it a thousand times better, and gave away a free TVR Tuscan with it, it wouldn't even come close to SSX3. The graphics are outta this world, game play is fantastic and the music is totally top notch. Landing big jumps onto signs and things has been made a lot easier (it was a pain in SSX2 to land huge jumps onto the signs) and its possible to get some massive rastas, er I mean scores by taking advantage of the combo multiplier thingy, just make sure you keep it going to the line. The characters are good to, some new some old but all with new quirks. I'm using Moby at the minute with a skull mask, you can apparently get a full suit of armour for him, we shall see. One of the secret characters is Shortbloke, (not even as tall as his board). He seems to be balancing a slug over his top lip, trapped between his lip and his nose. I tried crashing him a few times to see if it can be shaken off but it wont come off what ever I try, maybe he gets a razor as one of his gizzits?? I used shortbloke for a few laps but he aint up to much, seems to be happiest standing around at the start of the event with his hands in his pockets. Still good to give him a run into the mountain though. If you were thinking of getting this game but weren't sure, get it. If you weren't thinking of getting this game, get it anyway! I would have given this game a 5 star plus, but its not an option!

With Tricky you could max out your rider and get all the golds in a couple of hours.. not with this. Just when you think you have completed it you get an sms (yes a text message on your riders mobile) from another rider saying he has beaten your score or time on a certain track or to challenge you to a head to head race..etc It adds a great twist to this totally top game. The music is brilliant and some of the hidden characters you get are just mad...its quite odd screaming down a slope as a cow with a big pink udder, a rider that resembles a big ciggie complete with a smokin head or a big fat sumo dude with a pink rabbit head (looks a bit like Large bloke actually)! There are some pointless things to do in it like collect trading cards and posters??? dunno what thats in there for...perhaps for train spotter types but i know Chaos will try to get em all ;-) The new 'super ubers' are a cool and the graphics are stunning. The extra gear you can buy is pretty damn funny and for some odd reason you can even buy a surfboard? I think some of the people who wrote this game had taken something they shouldnt have taken!! If you loved Tricky you'll love this... if you dont then perhaps you should stick to domino's!! I bet Large n Chaos cant break 800K on perpendiculous...go and buy this game y'all and prepare to get addicted....nuff said!

This game is magnificent. it is a great addition to the other ssx games. it has much better graphics. the game play is great, it also has falling trees and other great suprises. you can use manuals now which can help you to big scoring combos!!! you can also do special grinds, and now there are uber tricks and super uber tricks. you are also allowed to choose your uber tricks. the competitions are the usual: races, and slopestyle(showoff) and the new ones are super pipe, backcountry and big air. you can also battle against old rivals like marisol, eddie, jp etc. and you can buy or get as rewards cheat characters. this means u can play as that character this includes eddie, marisol, snowballs and other strange characters. the rewards are great and it includes tops, trousers, hair cuts, shoes, toys, grapics, pictures, cheat charactes, videos. you get the idea, the list could go on and on. the buttons are easy to use, but require a few days to master complete. i have completed the game after just over a week of getting it. but i havent got all the gold medals and havent completed the all of the big chalenges yet. overall this game will keep you going for months to come. and it is truelly the best game ive ever played, even if u dont like snowboarding games. BRILLIANT!!!

Having played he two previous SSX games and hearing great things about this one, I was looking forward to getting my hands on it. have to say I was not disappointed. When you first get to play the career mode you're dropped off at the bottom of the backcountry and it takes your breath away. The snow is beautiful, changing all the time depending upon the where you are on the mountain. In the back country it's fresh powder but in the race courses it's more compacted allowing faster speeds. The whole game is free roaming, you can choose to ride to each event or cheat by taking the osprey or cable car.The music is excellent, using lesser know songs from well-known artists such as Placebo and Red Hot Chili Peppers. The DJ is good, giving you updates on how your character is doing and what your current rival is saying. The freeride challenges are many and often very challenging and to complete them all and find all the money crystals would take months of constant playing. However, this isn't a bad thing, as it means you always have something to come back to do.Overall, SSX3 is vastly superor in every way to it's predecessors, with beautiful scenery and excelent tricks. I would even say it's better than the most recent offering, SSX On Tour. Buy it now.

Ok, so it's no Vice City, but as far as sports games go you can't beat this snowboarding 'simulator'.The crazy tricks and OTT courses vibe of the original has been adapted perfectly to this new installment. The basic setup is that the entire game is set on 1 mountain, which consists of 3 peaks, and each peak has a handfulof race/freestyle courses each.I'm not sure how complete beginner's would find this game, but for people familar with the previous installments the game is quite easy to pick up.The control system is really amazing, it's the most fluid game i've ever played. The courses themselves are fairly similar to what you've come to expect from the previous 2 games, but with a few improvements (bigger, more shortcuts, etc.).Theway you work through the game is you tackle 1 peak at a time, after completing each course on the peak you have to race/freestyle from the top of the peak down to the bottom of the mountain (takes half an hour from the top of peak 3 to bottom of peak 1 - absolutely amazing!!!)In conclusion, this extreme sports game is going from strength to strengh, unlike Tony Hawks which seems to have lost its way recently. This is the perfect OTT snowboarding game, full stop.

The new title in the SSX series look bigger ,cleverer and more promising than ever ,with the new free roaming start you are encouraged to train your self with both old and new moves ,to help you get used to the control system which is a bit different than the previous game ,but it can be trick sometimes ,but after you get used to it you will be able to do some amazing movements to gain extra points ,and after stretching your racing muscles for a while you will come upon the choosing stage where you can choose between like Big Air ,Racer.... etc .The big air is tricky as you have to make the great air jump and and do all the possible tricks while you are in the air ,and the race mode carriesthe usual old glories of the past games in the series ,but with new rules and overall feeling ,you have to find your own shortcut to gain over your competitors .One funny and enjoyable element is the challenge which you pick during the free roaming mode ,the challenges are plenty and after you select any of them you will be presented with brief description to help you , that means that SSX 3 is a better improvement in the series , pick it and be sure not to lose your balance on the snow .

I'll put this into more detail. Ssx 3 is amazing. I saw this thing on gamesville about it and it was the vertical drops that gave me the urge to get this. The only problem is it is way too short. I love the backcountry. There are 3peaks and 1 mountain. Exacly too short. I rented this for 2 nights and did all the races but the last 1 Beacause I didn't have time to try it out even. The multiplayer rox. Especially on the backcountry. So what's so great abut the backcountry? Well first bailing can be fun! You can bail and slide down huge slopes but best of all of cliffs! It's fun just watching them fall of a cliff. Also it's free roaming enough but you see a path and think 'that looks interesting'and it's of limits. I don't know ssx 3's charm but it just tell's you to play on it more. My fave level is ruthless beacause of the end bit where you can bail and slide all the way to the bottom. One more thing is online mode! I haven't been on this but I expect you play against other people across the net. That could be anywhere. The layout is great and I expect the peak 3 race will rule. The entire mountain!!!!!Great 95%

The question with sequels is always; "If I already own 'Rhubarb Slicer 2', is it worth my purchasing 'Rhubarb Slicer 3'?". If you've devoted as many hours to SSX Tricky as I have, you may be wondering if SSX3 is a basic rehash with a few new tracks, or something new, different and special. Well, it's your lucky day: With SSX3, EA have had the guts to do something different, and have delivered a game that's a noticeable advance on its predecessor.Plenty of other reviews have detailed the new 'Three Peaks' structure of the game, and the various new race / challenge formats. Suffice it to say, there are hours and hours of exploring to do, scores of challenges and plenty of 'wow, look at that!'moments. Needless to say, presentation has been buffed to a high sheen, with great graphics (including snowlflakes melting on the camera lens), a good soundtrack, and TXH approved sound (a first for a game). If I had a gripe of any sort with this game, it's the difficulty level. For Tricky veterans, it's a natural progression, but some first-timers may find the learning curve a bit steep. In summary - Buy This Game. Now.

A beautiful game in every sense of the word. Detail on the courses and characters is immense. You are able to customize your clothes for each of the 10 playable characters by earning cash on the slopes. Plenty to do. You gotta explore three peaks of one mountain all containing a group of courses requiring you to race, pull off awesome stunts and minigame/challenges in order to finish the game.Learning controls and such is quite advanced as you literally have to use every button on the controller at some point during a race. Switching between analogue sticks for turning and keeping balance to using the d-pad for spinning during tricks. Requires a lot of skill but when you get used to it,it comes naturally. This game is filled with music and a virtual DJ keeping you entertained throughout the game.To fully finish SSX 3 would take months and it is extremely difficult to unlock everything. Race against friends, show off tricks, even race online, SSX has a lot to offer.Easily the greatest extreme sports game currently on the market!

EA shouldn't bother making another snowboarding game - I really don't believe SSX 3 can be beaten. I bought SSX Tricky on my Xbox, but when I sold my Xbox for a PS2 Tricky was the first game I bought. I was glued to it for weeks - never mind the World Championship mode, I was just doing Single Events over and over again, trying to beat my highest Freestyle score. It's the same with SSX 3 but better - it's like your doing the snowboarding on a crazy mountain in the middle of a snowstorm. The added option of Conquer The Mountain is good - in fact so good i've finally been forced off Single Event to try it out.The fact that you can buy new boards and accessories also works well - it makes you want to work for the money - to buy your dream board or a paper bag to stick on your head. This game's main factor is the realism - you feel proud to win a Half Pipe or Race event. Dream game for snowboarders - I even took up snowboarding because of it!
