I was looking for a working quality Every Day Carry knife that could take abuse and remain an effective tool. My first choice was the venerable Delica 4, but after looking at a few decided that it was a little small for my hands and needs. I read a few reviews and watched a few more on Youtube (Nutnfancy), and already being a fan of Spyderco knives, I settled on the Delica's bigger brother, the improved/limited edition Endura 4.First, the only bad news (and it really isn't that bad): The knife is larger than I expected. I had checked the size dimensions before ordering, but was still a bit suprised when I saw the knife in person (ok, this was a bit of an impulse buy). Instead of a clip carry EDC,for my tastes this is more of a pouch carry knife. The cutting edge of the blade is 3 7/16", plus about 1/4" of exposed steel (for pivoting clearance) before reaching the top of the handle. So technically you can call it 3.75" of extended steel when open. For me this makes the Endura a little too unwieldy for use as an EDC tool, but as a camping utility knife that I won't be afraid to treat like a step-child? You bet! Am I keeping it? Of course I am - it's phenomenal! Would I recommend it for EDC? Probably not, but your needs may be different. The handle is a very handsome blue FRN with Spyderco's Volcano Grip texture, which allows excellent purchase while remaining light weight, and the addition of the skeletonized steel liners only beef it up even more. Total weight: 3.4 oz. Brilliant! The 5" inch length of the handle, again, makes it a little awkward for pocket carry, but gives you plenty of room to maneuver your hand for balance or light leverage. The pocket clip is 4-way adjustable for your carrying syle, and the handle incorporates a lanyard hole in case you decide to ditch the clip and attach a loop of paracord for convenience. The blade locks using a standard pivoting lock-back, the quintessential folding knife lock, and still the strongest locking mechanism for a folder. It ain't going nowhere! Lockup is as solid as they come, with no noticeable wiggle at all. The blade itself is a beautiful leaf shaped, wicked-sharp, full flat ground VG-10: Versatile, strong, excellent edge retention, highly rust resistant, and easy to sharpen in the field. Perfect! Jimping (texturing) on the thumb ramp close to the deployment hole is functional and as good as it gets for secure purchase and control of the blade. Spyderco seems to have the perfect formula for this. Blade deployment can be loosened and loctite-d to your preference using a torx driver, or just wait for it to break in, as the action will improve with use. So far I've found it to be a little less smooth than other Spyderco's I've owned, but this may have to do with the necessity of where the pivot point is for this particular blade's size.If there were anything that I would add to improve the knife, it would be a bit of molded jimping along the finger guard, like the Benchmade 550 has. The Endura has some of this along the spine going into the thumb ramp on top of the handle, but I think that a little on the bottom could help with control. Is it crucial? No, I'm just being nitpicky now. :)Conclusion: Was this the knife that I was originally looking for? No. Am I keeping it? Absolutely! Would I recommend it for its intended use (subject to opinion)? In a heartbeat. Is there something similar that I would get instead as an EDC knife? The

I have had this knife for a few weeks now, and I have really been liking it. Out of the box it was scary sharp; and I have had some sharp knives. Its been holding an OK edge, but personally I don't mind sharpening my knives every few weeks, even If I have a knife that can hold an edge better than the VG-10; I still sharpen it every couple of weeks.First thing is that the blue in the picture is not even close to what you get, I knew this when I bought the knife, but it seems that some have failed to research there knife enough to know what they are getting, so yes it does come with a light blue color that looks very good and fits right into the winter months. I overall like the look and feel of the knife, the FRN handle has much more grip that any G-10 out there(which can be a good and bad thing). I like the blue color on it, but it does look a tad childish so I usually take my tenacious when I am out and about, and then use the big blade on the Endura for your standard box opening, garage work, yard work, house work etc. To sum it up, I use my Endura like crazy during the weekend, and I use my tenacious when I am out of the house or at work, mainly because it doesn't attract too much attention (I plan to replace my "out of the house knife" with either a Sage or a Manix 2 here in the coming weeks.) But this is just my opinionOne problem that I have with this knife is the spine lock; yeah, not my favorite opening type, and let me tell you why. First off the Endura does take a bit of effort to open even if you loosen the blade just a bit. But its not hard, just get ready to use a bit of wrist every time you deploy it. Another reason I don't like the spine lock is because its not great for one hand closing. I have been used to a Kershaw liner lock for many years, and going to this was hard because not only is it harder to get to, but you loose a lot of control over the blade with you try to close it with one hand, and I have actually cut myself once do to this(Once again, just a preference). And lastly, I just find spine locks boring especially after having the close to automatic opening Kershaw leek. You also can't do any of the fun spydie opening techniques that everyone does due to the spine lock(you can but it will take more effort than required with other spydercos) like the drop, the middle finger flick, and even the thumb flick. So if you are going to get this knife, get used to doing the manual thumb opening. But the reason the knife still gets five stars is because at the end of the day I need my knife to perform, and not look cool when I open it. It does have a very nice click when you deploy the knife, also when you are in the yard working and you quickly pull out your knife I almost always snap my wrist to give a knife leverage, but when you are in public you can't whip out your knife, and snap it open like that which is why I keep it for yard work and stuff. And lastly the reason that I got this knife was because of the BIG 3.75 inch VG-10 blade that just performs like no other. When I am cutting cardboard with my smaller knives I always run into the handle ruining the good cut that I was making. But with this big blade you will have to problem cutting through anything.

I am a huge fan of COLD STEEL knives. I have several COLD STEEL knives and have used the as a EDC knife. The COLD STEEL VOYAGER XL, full serration has served me well all the years I have carried it. I have a COLD STEEL VOYAGER XL Tanto blade which I use when riding my bike. They are both excellent knives which have proved themselves useful in combat, every day use, and nearly everything I have thrown at them. The only problem is they are BIG knives, which is perfect when I need large knives, but sometimes when I am wearing shorts or light weight clothing I need a knife which can be both lighter and yet, still be an excellent knife. In the Corps I had a few guys who carried Spyder co knives so I was passingly familiar with the Spyderco brand. After realizing my need for a lighter EDC knife I looked at COLD STEEL again, but didn't see what I wanted in a smaller lighter knife. It was then that I looked at both KERSHAW and SPYDERCO. Kershaw often uses a liner lovk for their knives. To me thats a deal breaker, because when a kife using a liner lock meets formidable opposition there is a tendency for the liner lock to slip to the side and the knife blade collapse or the liner lock simply fail. In combat you are only as good as your tools. When I looked at the Spyderco Endura 4 I saw that they had a frame lock which is far more stout and dependable. Then, I noticed the shape of the knife blade and quality and saw that the blades are full flat-ground VG-10 with a thinner highly refined cutting edge and a larger opening hole. I went on Youtube and watched 'NutinFancy's Review on the SPYDERCO Endura-4 and with that I decided to purchase the blade. After receiving the blade I can say with clarity that the SPYDERCO Endura-4 is an excellent, well balanced, quality knife that is light weight and made with longevity in mind. The blade was OK sharp out of the box, but after a few passes on my Lansky knife sharpener it is now razor sharp. The Endura-4 easily and effortlessly slices like a razor blade straight down a sheet of paper without any pressure being applied. The blade tip is needle sharp and glides right into the produce I tested it on. The weight of the blade is amazingly light and will serve me well when I am wearing summer clothing. The color of the knife is blue but it is not light blue, nor dark blue, it is a mix of grey and blue.I highly recommend this knife if you keep in mind that it is a light weight knife which will serve you well in average situations.

This is my first spyderco knife and I love it. I have carried it everyday since I bought it and thats been about a week. This knife is big, bigger than I was expecting. I like big knives and I like to have a tactical blade on me at all times.I have some smaller blades I use for using odd jobs but I have also been using this knife to test edge retention and sharpness. I has exceeded both, it's so sharp and is staying sharp good. I carry four blades with me everyday and sometimes my glock. So keep in mind this when you are looking at getting this knife. Some people grumble about weight and heavy knives, truthfully, I don't feel any of my knives on me.I have two clipped on my left pocket(Small and Medium),another in my right pocket(Very small), and now my Endura(Large) clipped on my right pocket.I seem to be grabbing the Endura a lot more than the other knives cause I am right handed and it opens so fast.I love this knife and everyone I show it to just drops their mouth and owes over it. I love explaining all the features of it and comparing it to my other knives as it blows them out the water. You get what you pay for that's for sure, and you can see it, feel it, in hand, and in use. I also love the fact that no one has a knife like me and I definitely have the coolest knife around. This is by far the best knife I have and I think I will be replacing my mid size knife with the dragonfly here soon.I do like to have a cheap(but sharp) blade(small) on me cause I don't have to worry about messing it up. For when I cut wire, putty, or cutting around metal. So I will probably keep my gerber mine para frame, I have for sure got my seven bucks out of it.If I got to go tactical or self defense, the Endura is getting pulled out, hands down. It feels so secure in the hand, I can't even slide my hand, when I get a good grip on it. Best jimping I have ever seen personally, or in hand!Very strong feeling knife, no play anywhere in blade, and is very tough feeling. I give this knife a 10 out of 10!!!Update--I have had this knife a little over a year now and still holding up great. I keep an edge on it but it's more of a self defense blade for me so I don't use it a lot unless I am cutting an apple or eating steak.

I can't say enough good things about this knife. Lets start with the blade: 3.75 inches of vg10 full flat ground exellence. This blade comes from spyderco scary sharp. And even after a full day of use (cutting up boxes, cutting rope, preparing food, cutting heat shrink off of .500 cable fittings) this knife remains very sharp and can be had back at razor sharpness with little effort. This is my first knife with a full flat grind and I gota say, I love it. It makes a noticable difference when slicing through lots of cardboard for sure. The handle: the handle is very comfortable and the texturing is cool looking and it works! I can get a very solid grip on this knife even when its wet.The handle scales are made from fiberglass reinforced nylon with nested stainless steel liners. Very stout. The handle can be had In a good few collors, I ordered mine in blue so that if/when I drop it off a ladder or something it can easily be seen and recovered. The blade deployment is smooth and the lockup is solid. If I try really hard I can find a very slight amount of upwords blade play but zero down or side to side blade movement. The clip: it works great. Its very tight so there is zero chance of it slipping out of my pocket. Its been coated somehow in black (looks sharp against my blue handle) but if you, like me, cary you're knife every day through a variety of harsh enviroments, then that black will not last long. If that bothers you let not you're heart be troubled! Because you can new clips direct from spyderco with no trouble. So, In my humble experience, this is the best knife you can get in its price bracket. I might even go so far as to say that you would probably need to pay two or three times as much to get a better knife. Have no doubt. You will not be disappointed with this knife.

I own many Enduras after buying, trying, and retiring many MANY knives from all sorts of companies including Buck, Cold Steel, CRKT, Kershaw, Sog, Zero Tolerance, Benchmade, Leatherman (yes they make a folding knife that's not a multitool). For the size, ergonomics, weight and strength they are, in my humble opinion UNBEATABLE! The blade length to weight ratio is amazing. They are identical in length to your Buck 110, but literally over half the weight. I usually carry a Full Flat Grind endura and a fully serrated endura for less weight than my Buck 110. And for what it's worth I've stabbed thru multiple tires and still have ZERO bladeplay. Best folding knife I've ever owned by far!!!Plus with the spyderco Sharpmaker I once got the edge of my VG-10 steel so scary sharp, I literally split a hair on it just by placing the hair on the blade as it rested on the countertop edge side up. WICKED CRAZY SCARY SHARP. I had to euse the ultra fine stones that I bought aside from the Sharpmaker itself but, you get the point. Dollar for dollar this is THE BEST BLADE of this size. For anything smaller I would recommend the Delica or even Dragonfly frrom Spyderco. For a bigger blade (which is HUGE) i would go for the Cold Steel XL Voyager. They make multiple blade shapes, i enjoy the Vaquero. But if you are still reading this review I would highly recommend the Spydercco Endura. Any and all flavors are great. Differences of this stainless steel handled version are1. Narrower and more substantial (weighty) handle.2. Shiny pocketclip3. Saber ground blade.P.S. this version was so scary sharp out of the box I could shave my face dry with it.

The FFG blade is great slicer and does cut better than the hallow ground enduras. The down side is the tip is fragile in comparison and I get worried about prying tasks. I don't use the knife for jobs like that (right tool for the job) but I also don't want to carry something that I could have another item replace it and do that task. I much prefer the Waved Endura over this one. The colored scales are its biggest selling point I think. But overall its a great knife. Lock up is decent, like most lock backs you'll get a tiny bit of movement if pressing hard down when cutting but its the nature of the lock. I dont mind it and the majority of my knives are spyder co.I carried a lot of larger knives for a long while and I eventually decided to change ace and cary a smaller knife. This knife is thin, light weight and has great traction. Add it to a collection but I dont see it being your main EDC blade. Very few cutting tasks in everyday life require a blade this large. My dragonfly is more than adequate to cut oranges, chickens, packages, plastic boxes, cordage or anything I would need. For a self defense knife it would work, with that said I dont see a knife as a great self defense weapon. Unless you have had proper training your more likely to be injured with the knife than become successful defending yourself with it. Also a small blade like the dragon fly when slashing can make a wound 2-3x deeper than the blade itself. Most blades 2-3' can be rather deadly and have decent penetration. Again, not saying to use a knife for self defense but if you had to a smaller knife wouldn't be such a big draw back.

I was not a fan of the Spyderco design theme, and this knife was initially off my radar until I saw the reviews by nutnfancy and others. It may not look as scary and "tacticool" as a SOG Aegis or a Cold Steel Recon 1, but when a knife combines the light weight and easy opening of the Aegis with the rugged design of the Recon 1, and adds the excellent VG10 steel not found in the other two, it will definitely have my attention. So, after much deliberation, I put function before form and bought the Endura... and I was not disappointed.Everything about the knife just works. The thumb hole makes for easy deployment with either hand, the blade locks up solidly, the handle grip is good, the clip is exactly where I want it, and the sharpness is outstanding. There is no need to adjust the pivot screw, no need to sand the handle under the clip, no coating that chips off, no thumb stud poking around in my pocket, and no risk of the knife opening unintentionally - in other words, no issues that need fixing. The light weight and slim profile makes it easy to carry, and soon enough even the blade shape and handle color began to grow on me. The only downside is now I can't think of a reason to buy the other knives I wanted, other than for collecting purposes.*** Update 7/2014After testing it by batoning some wood, turns out the Spyderco Endura is not as rugged as a Cold Steel Voyager. The lock developed some unsmooth action, like something got bent. The blade was fine however, and the knife still in completely usable condition.

Update as of 8/1/2020I carried this knife for 6 years almost everyday. I occasionally had to carry its sibling, Dragonfly, which is also a great knife, when I accidentally misplaced it. I've not bought any additional new knives since (except for its sibling Dragonfly). I think that tells the story of how durable and reliable the knife has been. The blade of this knife has met lake water, sea water, pool water, sand and dirt, cardboard boxes with packing tapes, nylon ropes, hose, fruits and veggies, plastic and foil packaging, all kinds of poultry and dairy meat, fish, etc. And yet, it keeps on ticking...A few observations since I bought this knife:The knife does need occasionally sharpening, but that is true with all knives. The pocket clip is a bit worn out from years of usage, but that adds the ruggedness to the aged knife that performs right out of box. I only had to tighten the screws that attach the pocket clip to the knife twice after I noticed a slight movement of the clip. Occasional wipe down with damp cloth kept the knife in a presentable shape. Overall it is a relatively maintenance free knife that will keep performing reliably.I think I got back my investment in a multiple folds since I bought this knife. A great practical knife!I highly recommend it.-----------------------------------------------------------------------Love it. Awesome ergonomic grip, sharp edges, easy operation, and light weight. I liked it so much that I ordered its smaller brother Dragonfly.

Spyderco has long garnered a name as a quality knife maker. And most agree that they rank among the top ranked full production knife makers in the world. The endura line has proved to be a top seller due to their quality and (relatively) low price. And I must say WOW! I'd never seen a blade this sharp before...we're talking scary sharp! You could shave with it... Needless to say the paper test was a huge success! After six months of abuse this blade has lost it's razors edge but will still split paper with ease. I'll get around to sharpening it someday and have every faith that it will take and hold that edge well.As a defencive tool, you'll find more expensive models but none that do the job better. The large thumb hole makes opening a snap or perhaps I should say a "click." Opening techniques vary but the thumb hole gives the handler a feeling of security that thumb studs somehow lack. As for the handle, the ergonomics are phenominal! However, the smooth stainless finish might be a turn off for some. I like it, but it certainly won't be for everyone. One issue I've noticed is that the blade has developed a micro ammount of latteral play. I've put it thru quite litterally thousands of opening and closing cycles. Not to worry, Spyderco said send it in to them and they'll repair or replace it free of charge. I'm extremely satisfied with this knife, so much so that I'm buying a second.

I have a few Spyderco knives including a Spyderco Paramilitary 2 that cost a small fortune. Having said that, the Endura 4 is the knife you'll find in my pocket ever single day. Light weight, great blade, comfortable handle and a flat grind to boot. I like the Endura 4 so much I also bought it in the Black Sabre Grind version. That knife also get carried but not as often as the flat grind. Just something about this knife and if you think that an assisted opening knife is fast then you've never seen my Endura 4 at work. Single hand open and close without any springs or assistance whatsoever. A little bit of cleaning once in a while (as with any folding knife)and a little bit of oil on the blade and a drop on the pivot and it swings open lightning fast. I can't say enough good things about this knife. As for my Spyderco Paramilitary 2 goes, I love that knife too but it's too expensive to carry around as it sits at a price point where I don't think I could replace it easily. The Endura 4 feels very much like a sibling of my Para 2 so although it isn't quite to the same level of that Para 2 it's close enough to where it's fun and inexpensive enough to replace if need be. Also, it holds an edge very nicely and if you know what you're doing it's easy to sharpen to hair carving levels to where you can carve a single hair into split ends. Highly recomended.

Wow where to start? First let me say that the G10 Steel is amazing. The steel isnt intended for salt water but I ran it diving and forgot to clean it for 3 days because of a sting ray accident and expected the blade and internals to be covered in rust. Needless to say I was BLOWN AWAY when the blade was spotless other then being really dirty. I took the blade apart and this is where it loses a star. Im not really sure how they could improve the knifes construction but I have others that arnt as hard to put back to gather. A friend who loves spyderco once said if you take it apart you wont have a knife again and this saying is pretty close to fact. Took me 1 hour putting it back to gather and let me say I still have Nightmares.Other then that its an AMAZING blade with some of the best steal WITH THE FFG blade is one of the best KNIFES for the money. Also I wanted to put this up to help some people decide because I have gotten a ton of questions over the 2. The Delica or Endura? If you only going to 1 Knife I would go Endura. You get so much more knife for less then 1 oz of weight more. But please be aware of local laws AND military the blade is over 3 inches. Delica is still an amazing knife its the same construction as the Endura just smaller. Though for the same price I just like the feeling of getting more for the money.

I love this knife. I have to say. I would give it five stars, and it deserves 5 in a general sense. The Endura 4 is such an iconic knife. It's almost like a Hall of Fame blade for the knife community. The VG10 is a favorite of mine. The problem and reason for the 4 stars is because I had to send my original back and get a replacement because for some reason the pivot point would not keep play outta the blade. Every day it would be loose again, noticeably. I know from my previous models that this was a problem with the particular knife I had received though. Upon arrival of the new order which took place seamlessly, (and was sent to me before I sent out the old one). The replacement is phenomenal.everything about it is on point, the relief edge, sharpness out-of-box was off the wall, Beautifully slim and unobtrusive. Cannot really level any true complaints about it. This knife is a must have for any serious knife aficionado or collector.UPDATE: I got my replacement and it was wonderful. I cannot say anything bad about it. Centering is dead on, pivot is tightened perfectly. Very good deployment speed especially with the back lock mechanism. An absolute favorite hands down!

I've had a Spyderco Endura in OD green for some time. It has been a work horse for me, and a while back after a night of drinking and playing pool.......I could NOT find it. Boy, talk about feeling naked! I looked EVERYWHERE! Well I have to have an EDC knife so I begin to look for another one. Some were way too much money (after all I lose the damn things right?) Others didn't strike my fancy for one reason or another. I looked and looked, and kept coming back to another Endura. I KNEW that did the trick for me, so....I ordered this one. Only problem was I couldn't find a color I REALLY liked, and the Blue one was the closest to one I liked. So I ordered this one.It came in on time, and was packaged well (I think I am supposed to mention that). The knife itself is in perfect condition, and sharp as a razor blade! Awesome!Well, guess what? After I ordered this knife replacement, my Wife found my other one! She was doing the laundry, and it was in a pair of pants I wore for work. Well...now I have two. One for work, and one for dress. Win, Win for me!:)

Been carrying this knife for a couple of weeks now clipped into my front pocket. Used it several times and it is extremely sharp right out of the box. Sliced through thick leather no problem. Opened packages. Sliced an apple and banana. Still has sharpness to spare. I am one to really use and abuse my blades and I have been known to cut up cardboard boxes and pry out heavy staples with my blades. I was a little concerned about this blade not standing up to that kind of abuse because it has the full flat grind. It seems like it will hold up without snapping, but time will tell. I'm in the Coast Guard and working on ships in a saltwater environment will really test the rust resistance of the VG10 steel.I must say I LOVE the grip on this thing. Super grippy and the jimping on the thumb rest really adds to the grip. This blade is a little larger than I'm used to and I'm still getting used to that. Overall, I'm extremely satisfied with the fit and finish and overall quality of this knife. Looking forward to many years of rough and tough use.
