This controller is better than the official XBOX 360 controller in almost every way.The buttons are of equal quality, and stylishly coloured... Rather than the clown vomit theme you get on the official controller. The analog sticks are far more accurate and responsive, giving far better physical feedback. On top of that, their deadzone is tiny yet still totally functional. Giving you all of the stick's movement to play with.I see a lot of reviews saying the D-Pad lets it down, but I'm not seeing it. (Or feeling it.)The picture makes it look like brushed metal, but of course it's just plastic. It doesn't stick on the border at all, unlike the official controller's tended to (at least all of mine.)And it never gives me a false diagonal press, which is a common complaint of the official controller. It also has a much more matte texture to it, which I find more comfortable to press rather than the glossyness of the XBOX D-Pad.Bumpers and triggers are totally infallible. Nothing to even say about them, they're perfect. There is a switch on the back to alternate between D-Input and XInput. Most people overlook this awesome feature. Older PC games do not support XInput at all, having the option to switch it over to the older controller input method is just amazing. This controller is literally compatible with any game you throw at it because of this. Anyone claiming they've got games it doesn't work with hasn't discovered this switch. My only complaints are that the cable feels a little loose at the controller end (though it's never caused any problems.) And I'm personally not the biggest fan of the rubbery matte finish of the controller. Don't get me wrong, it feels awesome to hold, but I'm forever having to wipe it down after use where I've held it just to keep it looking new. However the finger grooves on the back feel amazing, definitely the most comfortable XBOX design controller I've ever used.Another issue is that the light ring doesn't function the same as the official controller. The whole ring lights up, giving no indication of which controller is assigned to which player. That doesn't mean that you can't use multiple controllers, it's just a nice little feature of the official controller that's missing.I'm also not the biggest fan of the light being red, I would prefer blue... But that's just splitting hairs. All in all, I would say to anyone. Don't buy an official controller, buy this one. It's better.

This controller is a leading contender for one of the best I've ever used. However that still doesn't make it perfect. Firstly I'll go over the positives, the controller itself has a very nice thin matte rubber finish, it's by far the nicest controller I've ever physically held, the finger grooves fit my hands perfectly and gives me plenty of grip. The control sticks, buttons and bumpers are very responsive, I've been using this controller for shooters, third person adventure games, side scrolling games and demanding beat em up's/hack n' slash games like Blazblue and DMC. It never misses a beat and is extremely precise, even compared to a Playstation or Xbox controller. It's got a nice long cable, that's quite self explanatory and you can grab the drivers online if you don't have a CD drive installed. The D/Xinput toggle on the back is a great addition as well, possibly not for everyone but if you like old games or emulating games it's extremely handy. As for the negatives there's not many, I really had to nitpick to actually find some. Firstly all the buttons fit the controller perfectly except back, start and rapid which have a gap around the edge as pictured, not really a big deal but could be a problem for dust, grime, ect. Other reviews have said this feels cheap however I have to disagree, it feels very sturdy but the casing is slightly off on my model, we're talking a fraction of a mm here but you can see that the back shell is ever so slightly higher than the front shell, once again it's not a big deal it's just a little irritating when you brush it with your finger. Finally the original price, this isn't worth £35 in any way, you'd be better getting a licensed controller, not because it's worse but for the security that comes with buying from a well known brand, warranties ect. However I paid £8.50 for mine on sale and man was it an absolute steal! I'd bet you couldn't get a better controller at a lower price! I'd buy this off a sale at around £25, the value is definitely there but with Microsoft, Sony or other well known competitors at the current price it's hard to pick this.Overall this controller is nearly perfect, if they dropped the price I think more people would get this casually but the sale price is truly outstanding and it can really handle it's business for such a low price!

This controller is one of THE BEST I have used in a long time.Build: Obviously this is modelled after the XB360 controller but with a few improvements. The controller has slight finger grooves on the back which make the controller extremely comfortable to hold. The controller is also coated in some sort of rubberized coating (similar to the Razer Onza for anyone who has used one of those) which allows for better grip and a MUCH more comfortable experience. The XEOX also features a central button much the same as the XBOX with 4 red lights, I would prefer them to be green or blue but this is simply personal preference. The Controller is completely monochrome save for the light.Operation: The D-Pad has been raised up slightly which makes it a dream to use vs the standard XB360 controller. The thumb-sticks are superb, and have a very tight path of travel, much like the Razer Onza but unfortunately without the ability to adjust. The shoulder buttons have a nice audible "click" to them and they feel like they contain some decent switches, the triggers have the same "click" but feel a tad spongy, but respond very well. The buttons on the face of the controller are nice and sharp, not spongy like the PS3 controller.Performance: The real beauty of the XEOX controller is the ability to switch between "directinput" and "x-input" modes which means it's compatible with both older games and newer ones too. I found the wireless performance to be great playing at 2-3 meters away from the receiver, unfortunately my room is not big enough to test further, and I didn't pick up any interference from any of the wireless or Bluetooth devices close by. It worked flawlessly in several x-input enabled games and by configuring directinput I was able to play several non-controller enabled games too. The only game I had issue with was "I am Bread" due to a bug with the game NOT the controller. The contorller felt absolutely great to use for long periods of time, and I found it to be incredibly responsiveOverall I think the controller is the best choice for PC gamers looking for a controller to play console ports etc on their PC. It's great VFM and extremely well built.5/5

This is a very good controller. I decided on the USB version because I wanted to be sure it would work with my Raspberry Pi 2, as well as with the PC. Although the wireless version will work too, I have heard that sometimes there is some delay (on the Pi 2) and USB is more reliable.A nice advantage of this is that the gamepad is considerably lighter than the XBox 360 wireless controller (which has 2 AA batteries), and this causes less strain, especially for young kids.We have been using it for a few months now, and it has worked great with the Raspberry Pi 2 with zero configuration needed. The gamepad has a switch that allows for X or D mode to be selected. X mode makes it work and identify itself as a X-Box 360 controller. This worked well with the Pi, and newer games on the PC. Some older games (Amiga emulators etc) worked better in D mode. The beauty here is that you have the option and if one mode doesn't work you can try the other.Overall it feels strong and well put together, and seems to be holding up well so far.Four stars because it isn't prefect. The D-Pad is a bit loose feeling. I understand that this is probably a matter of taste but I would rather if it felt less floppy/sloppy as it makes some games that require the D-Pad a bit hard to control, when compared with a stiffer or more direct feel to the inputs. Having said that, with time I adapted to it and it isn't terrible. The plastic is coated to give it a smooth rubberised texture. This actually feels really nice, and makes it very comfortable to hold. It does seem to pick up oil from your hands more than conventional plastic finishes, but it cleans easily with a dry cloth.Overall very happy with this controller and would recommend it for consideration to anyone needing a replacement for their XBox 360 controller, or a good gamepad for casual PC gaming.

I purchased the "Speedlink XEOX Pro Analog Wireless Gamepad - Black" as I needed a controller for my Steam-based games. After reading the positive reviews left by other customers, I decided to give this one a go; I have to say I wasn't expecting much but I was pleasantly surprised. The packaging was really nice; glossy black and red with a clear rounded window so you could view the contents. It gave a lot of information on the product, looked appealing and kept everything organized and well presented. Definitely worthy for the shelves. The wireless dongle is rather bulky but could be hidden if you plugged it in your rear IO.I wanted it to be on USB 3.0 so I have it on my front IO - it looks fine to me but if you're conscious for aesthetics of your case or safety I would recommend making sure you have a free rear USB port. The charging wire proved to have well-built, sturdy connectors and a nice, thick wire. I was worried that I would be given a flimsy wire that would break if tugged but this holds up to the test well enough and I'm thoroughly pleased. The controller itself is extremely comfortable and the rubber coating helps with grip massively. The buttons, triggers and analogue sticks are all smooth and responsive and the addition of two input (DINPUT and XINPUT) is a nice touch. My only gripes are that the d-pad feels loose and doesn't have the usual movement I'm familiar with on other controllers. The triggers are extraordinarily loud and for me, personally, the analogue sticks aren't stiff enough though your mileage may vary. All in all, the "Speedlink XEOS Pro Analog Wireless Gamepad - Black" is a well-rounded controller and I would have this any day over a standard XBOX controller and over any other if the small gripes I had were tweaked. A sound investment!

Yeah, yeah, I know how this works. I felt exactly the same when umming and ahhhing over buying a controller for my PC.You want to give an unofficial controller a go but have been let down sooo many times before by poor controllers that lack both quality and substance. Poor controllers that don't recognise your games, hurt your hands when playing or are so complicated to get to work you give up and it goes in the 'dust pile' for the rest of eternity. So I very nearly bought the official one. The only reason that made my buy this was the reviews, the cost, and the fact that I'll do anything to try and stem the amount of money I give to those money hungry people at Microsoft. When the controller arrived it was packaged well in a nice box.Upon handling the controller it has a really nice rubberized outer which is very comfortable on the hands. The quality of it is impressive, it's chunky and the materials used are very good. Once you've installed the software it really is as simple as plugging it in and playing, I couldn't believe it. Apparently the button on the back you can use to make it compatible with older games but I haven't tried older games yet.Best thing is it IS'NT wireless. I know some people like wireless but this controller is never going to insist on being recharged or the battery inside slowly becoming less effective of holding a charge as it gets older. This is something that really gets my goat on Playstation 3, which I now keep the controller plugged in all the time anyway so I don't have to worry about it running out of juice.Don't be scared of buying this controller, it even has vibration on it as well like the official one. It is a very good piece of kit.

This is a great gamepad.I'm an occasional gamer who learnt controls on both an old school PC and xbox years ago. I recently began playing the Assassin's Creed series (only about 10 years to late but better late than never... ) and was finding the complexity of the controls on my laptop nigh on impossible. I'm sure for a seasoned gamer it's not hard but I was finding myself shrieking with frustration as my character slipped and tripped constantly, it took me 10 attempts to pass even basic tasks and I missed valuable little detours because I was getting irritated.I saw gamepads recommended and thought that for £17 I couldn't really do any worse than I currently was, so I bought it. Plugged it in,downloaded the drivers using the disc (quick and simple) and fiddled around setting up the buttons as I wanted. The difference was huge and immediate. Ezio and I were tripping the light fantastic within minutes. Fights were faster and more complex than before when I stumbled about occasionally hitting a bad guy if I got lucky. Climbing, free running and jumps are easy as anything. A few in game tweaks to the controls and I felt like I was back in the good ole days of my ancient Xbox.It was so good I even sacrificed my first game to go back to the start and do all the bits I stuffed the first time. I'm really enjoying getting back into gaming because of this.I don't think it feels particularly cheap, it looks just like every other game pad I've seen, it's comfy to hold, the keys are well-placed and it seems reasonably robust.I'm sure seasoned gamers will disagree but for the price and for the idle on/off gamer it is PERFECT.

I'm using the XEOX Pro on an Apple Mac running OS X 10.10 Yosemite. I doubt it would work out of the box, but it works fine using USB Overdrive (unrestricted shareware from usboverdrive.com; £14 to register). Keep the 'X' / 'D' switch on the underside set to 'D', and use the 'XEOX' button on the top to switch between digital and hybrid analogue/digital modes. In hybrid analogue/digital mode, there are 17 addressable controls in USB Overdrive (the 'Rapid' button is not addressable). In digital mode, the D-pad replicates the left analogue stick controls, and the right analogue stick replicates the X / Y / A /B buttons.I've been using the controller in digital mode to play classic shooters from GOG.com; I've also been using the analogue controls as a virtual mouse using USB Overdrive.Build-wise, the XEOX Pro is solid, with an acceptably close look and feel to the Xbox 360 controller. The shoulder and trigger buttons have a lighter touch than the Xbox 360 controller, and the D-pad has a particularly light touch that was off-putting at first, but it's quick to get used to and is forgivable for the price. The soft plastic fascia gives a comfortable grip in the hand; arguably superior to the Xbox controller, and the internal USB-rechargeable battery is another bonus.I've only had the controller for half an hour and haven't tested rumble, but I'm happy with what I've seen so far. Had I used it in advance without being told the price, I would have thought it a fair deal at anything up to £25. At the reviewed price of £17.99, it's an easy recommendation.

Have to say it's a great pad, but you do get what you pay for. The overall look and feel of the pad is brilliant, it's just the construction that lets it down a little. The analogue pads feel a bit strange and take some getting used to, but do end up being a little more accurate because of the return to centre is harsher than a 360 pad.The d-pad however is pretty poor and feels very cheap. The start and select buttons need a hefty push to activate and it's made playing Dark Souls harder, if that's possible. The face buttons are solid and as good as the official 360 ones. The triggers are good and give good feedback. The shoulder buttons are good. The matte feel to the pad is lovely and is nicer to hold than the official 360 pad.The grooves on the back are also better than the 360 one. There is a switch on the back of the pad to light up the ring and make it compatible with 360 pad layout. It was switched off by default.Easy to install on Windows 8.1, worked out of the box without installing the cd. Older os's than W7 will need this.Overall I would recommend this at the current price. If you can get it cheaper then do.Had the build quality of the d-pad and start/select buttons been slightly better and the ring lights lit up as per the 360 one, or even have a choice of light colour, then I would say I'd happily pay the same as a 360 pad and recommend this pad over the official one. There are improvements over the 360 pad, but the overall build quality lets it down very slightly.

I needed a new gamepad since my old one was getting a bit dodgy, and I decided to buy this one purely for their tenacity with calling it "Xeox". Turns out it's a lot better that what I was expecting. The main reason why I prefer this to an offical Xbox controller is the material it's made out of. I'm not sure what it is exactly, but it's the same stuff Razer use for their mice. It's sort of a smooth matte plastic which somehow feels soft to the touch. The buttons have a much nicer tactile feedback to them, but they're also quite loud because of this. The analogue sticks have a really nice resistance to their movements, being a bit stiffer when they're closer to being centered, and much looser movement towards the edge, giving a greater precision in the small movements, while still allowing smooth & fast changes with the bigger moves around the edge. The only problem I've found so far is that it has a wider dead zone around the edge. This would be fine on its own, and it actually makes it feel more responsive in games like audiosurf, but because of the unnatural angle present in all xbox analog sticks (having to pull down and slightly to the right for a 'true' down), it makes games where you have to be precise a lot more difficult.I haven't had it for long, so I don't know about its lifespan yet. Even so, it's comparitively cheap, so it'd still be worth it if it doesn't last as long. If the prices of this and an official controler were swapped, I'd still buy this one.

i was extremely pleased with speedlink's torid wireless gamepad (actually bought two of them but not from amazon) and i wanted to buy a wired one also, so i decided to go for this and in general it did not disappoint.Plastic quality is excellent, design and color very much to my liking. What i really love is the Xinput/Directinput switch at the back of the controller. Great idea, and i wish every manufacturer did this.As for the feedback from the buttons i have to say i'm not comletely pleased. The feel from the RB, LB, and especially from the LT, RT buttons is not good at all in as much that they give a "hollow" feel to the pressing. Like there's no pressure mechanism beneath them if you know what i mean.Still they work very well and that's what matters the most. One or two more nitpicks are that the D-pad is a bit to much elevated, which makes me wonder if it will last through the years and it also seems to collect debris and oils from the hands underneath it, which is very difficult to clean. The red led is also too intense for my tastes which can occasionaly become distracting. All in all a quality, beatiful controller with one or two hiccups in the design but nothing to really fuss about. Although it's not really cheap, it's good vfm and a solid 4/5 stars.

I was looking for something to replace my knackered old Xbox 360 pad so I thought I'd give this one a try, and I'm so glad that I did! In comparison with the 360 pad I found:- The matte finish looks great, and (more importantly) feels really nice in your hands.- The analog triggers have a lighter actuation force, so you won't end up with numb fingers when pressing them for long periods of time (e.g. playing racing games).- The analog sticks have a textured surface to help your thumbs grip them better, as opposed to the raised nubs on the 360 pad's sticks that just dug into my thumbs. Always felt that was a bit of an odd design decision...- The springs under the analog sticks are stronger than the ones on the 360 pad,so the sticks return to centre more accurately (and just feel more 'tight'); this is really useful when you need precision, as the sticks on the 360 pad just feel too loose and sloppy in comparison.I agree with the other reviewers who've said that the d-pad isn't any improvement over the one on the 360 pad, so if you need a really good d-pad you might need to look elsewhere; but other than that I can't fault the XEOX.

I previously had the wired version of this controller which was excellent, but should have gone with this from the outset. The ability to switch between DirectInput and Xbox controller mode means that it will work with both old and new games. The joysticks and buttons feel good, with the only slightly exception being the digital d-pad which is a little bit wibbly-wobbly.The controller feels nice in the hand and is more "grippy" than the Microsoft controller due to its soft rubberised plastic coating. There is only one small niggle which is that the controller does not work (won't "connect") after the PC resumes from hybrid sleep mode on my Windows 8.1 PC.I have worked around this by creating a scheduled task that restarts the controller driver on resume from sleep, which is a bit clunky but works. Not sure whether this is a widespread problem (there are some others reporting the same behaviour on forums with this and other controllers, so looks like it might be a generic problem with the Microsoft drivers). In any case, I have to dock a star for this issue.

Excellent Quality, Uses a Wireless Dongle supplied to connect and Charge lasts a very long time (Have only Charged twice since buying) Feels just like an Xbox 360 controller and the Rubberized casing helps you grip it and feel more comfortable. Driver disk is included, recommend installing Drivers first but my Windows 8.1 machine detected it without any issues. Supports both Direct Input and X-Input which is controlled by a switch on the back of the controller. When X Input is selected the Controller will show up as an Xbox 360 Controller for windows so will work with pretty much any game that has Controller compatibility, So far used it with Dead State, Far Cry 3, Far Cry 4, Elite: Dangerous,Dying Light, Dead Island, Bioshock Infinite but it advertises that it works with most games.Only Downside is that the Dpad feels cheap, the Thumb Sticks have an annoying Dead Zone and sometimes can be over sensitive, there is a big sensitivity difference between slightly moving the thumbsticks which sometimes takes some getting used to

Excellent Gamepad...in my opinion it is even better than Microsoft's XBOX 360 controller.works perfectly in Windows 10.Just Plug & Play.D-pad is bit different than other controllers, but once you get used to with it, you will love this...D-pad is better than Xbox official controller.I think it is intentionally made a bit little loose which helps easily to move in 8-way directions.Special rubberized coating on the entire controller made it more premium & Stylish looking. It gives better grip. The analog sticks are very more accurate and responsive, giving far better physical feedback. The only CON i found is that you cannot use RT & LT at the same time..These two buttons’ signals are on the same axis.As such, they cancel each other out when both buttons are pressed at the same time...Overall it is a great Controller at a reasonable price.I think Microsoft's official XBOX 360 controllers are over priced.I have two of them & trust me this speedlink Xeox Gamepad is far batter than those xbox controllers.
