There are two ways of looking at this mouse mat.Firstly, the cynical view. I'd start by complaining about the price, and for sure, £20 is a lot for a mousepad. You could go on to say that nobody needs a mousepad that big, and anyway nobody has a desk that would take it.But there's also the positive view. I'd say that having a huge desk area as a high-quality mousepad is actually a good thing. It means you don't have to worry about your hand being in the right place on your desk to use your mouse, because every where your hand finds itself is a mousepad. There's also a slightly peculiar windfall in that with this on your desk, you effectively have a padded desktop, which makes it very comfortable to rest your hands on when working. The surface is exactly as it should be, and my mouse glides over it smoothly and controls the computer predicatably and reliably. The rear of the mousepad is rubberised and grips my desk well. When I first got this giant Speedlink mousepad, I thought it was something of a slightly ridiculous gimmick. Now I've got used to it, I really don't want to go back to a small mousepad again. I was going to knock a star off for the price, but to be honest, if something happened to my Speedlink, I'd replace it without hesitation. Recommended, if you have the desk space and are comfortable with the initial outlay.

A mousemat for those with gamers with a significant desk-space. This XXL pad delivers a great experience for gamers who want to ensure their high DPI gaming mouse to provide flawless results. I tested it out the pad with a Corsair which can scale up to 10,000 DPI (although I'm not sure who actually uses that high DPI for gaming, without reducing the in-game sensitivity, and that's a debate for elsewhere) and it certainly was a smooth performance - the mouse moves precisely to your whim, without any friction. The mat is large enough to go under both the keyboard and mouse. There's a striking impact visually too. Like most gaming equipment, my Corsair Sabre mouse and Logitech G410 keyboard are black, with illumination. Against the pitch black surface the peripherals are invisible, bar the lit keys/mouse LEDs. This really helps immersion and looks awesome. The base of the mat is very tactile, ensuring it does not slip or move during use. Bigger is certainly better with mousemats and it's handy never to reach the edge, either with your hand, wrist or the mouse itself.Take a moment to measure up to make sure you have the space first. Speedlink do provide other large scale mats which are smaller than the XXL. If you have the space or frequent LAN parties where you can claim your turf then this is a good buy.

This mousepad (and I'm talking about the version described as "medium") is HUGE, much bigger than I realised it would be. I normally have my mouse set so the pointer moves a long way with just a little movement of the mouse, so a lot of the mat would (for me) be wasted if I hadn't found that it also makes a really good base for the joystick I use for flying spaceships in the game Elite: Dangerous. It stops the joystick slipping really well, and there's still plenty of room for the mouse. Of course, if you like moving your mouse around a lot more than I do (for example in precision "sniper" mode) you may like the larger pad.The mat is a little thicker than the SteelSeries mousepads. The back is a dark pink foam rubber which sticks well to my wood-veneer desk, and which makes the pad a little spongy. Movement detection on the black fabric-like top surface works as well as it should. It's a little like neoprene, and it seems almost big enough to cut out and make a wetsuit. For precision gaming, it's great. The 3mm thickness is a little thicker than I would ideally like, but it's still much thinner than an office mouse mat. It feels really nice to touch as well. You can roll the mousepad up for transportation (it comes rolled up in fact), but it is still quite bulky.

Wow, this thing is HUGE! It is way to big to fit on any of our desks, but it does cover the top of our coffee table perfectly, making this great for placing laptops and gaming mice on for when our kids are playing a multiplayer game. Our kids each have a Corsair gaming mouse (this one Corsair Gaming CH-9000070-EU CGM65 RGB Multi-Colour LED Backlit Performance 8200 DPI Laser Gaming Mouse - Black in case anyone wishes to know for some reason), and the mouse moves smoothly across the surface without any skips. The mat does not slip nor do their laptops and the mat provides a nice stable surface that allows the rear ventilation on their Macbooks to remain unblocked and the surface of the table remains cool to the touch when it is all put away.It comes in a nice sturdy box and the mat rolls up easily, which makes it handy for storage. Another use for the mat that was nforseen, but which my son thought of, was placing it on the coffee table when they were playing board games. It keeps the board from sliding and when playing Monoploly, Life, etc, the paper bits don't slide about either. Very pleased and will definitely buy one of the smaller mousemats to fit their desks for day to day use.

This pad is huge and I have found it very useful - even though I am not a regular gamer! I have a four screen set-up which means that when moving from screen to screen I need to move the mouse quite a long way - with my old mouse mat that mean lifting the mouse off and starting again at the other side. Something you eventually do without thinking about it, but not ideal. With this pad in place I can now not only move the mouse from one end of the displays to another without lifting off, but I also have spec for my keyboard which used to slides around just a bit. Now, the rubber feet on the keyboard in conjunction with the pad surface means that it stays put - rock solid! The pad has a red backing (similar to rubberised carpet backing)which means it grips the desktop better than most conventional mouse mats and at the top it has a black optical mouse friendly texture, shrugs off drink spills (well, un-sugared coffee or diet cola anyway, I haven't "tried" anything else yet!).So, not just for gamers, also ideal for people with multi-screen setups or extra-slippery desks.

This is a very nice mouse mat, it's large, comfy, provides an extremely good surface covering and it's very large making it just right for working with large monitors in 1:1 or close scales. Its let down by one thing, it's delivery, it comes rolled up, and mine appear to have been so tightly rolled that even after a week it sits on my desk and slowly under curls itself, even whilst in use.I've tried sandwiching it between towels and ironing it, tried to hold it rolled the opposite way with rubber bands overnight, but it simply won't loose this kink, it's as though it's been heated and then cooled to remember the curl from delivery, and that really lets what would be a very good mouse mat down. The surface is a soft fabric, high density mesh style, the lower half is a foam backing, in a stylish black top (jet black) with red accents and the bottom being pure red.Aside from the rolling kink, which might just be a lone case, this is a very good mouse pad and I'd not hesitate to recommend the brand, if only it didn't come rolled.

This is a great pad for gamers, and also for other mouse users, especially those who work or dabble in creative arts. The pad is about twice the size of your normal 'office' matt, meaning you can move your mouse (or other pointer device, such as a pen) much farther without falling off the matt, the benefits of which should hopefully be self evident. The matt is made of top notch materials - the upper surface is smooth though not slippery, affording excellent control, while the underside has the perfect thickness of padding, with excellent grip provided by a red rubberised bottom layer. There is an understated logo on the top,in one corner - much nicer than some of the truly tacky gaming pads I have had in the past.I have subjected this pas to hundreds of hours of use, spilled hot and cold drinks on it, dropped ash on it, rolledit up and taken it to the office - punished it, in short - and it has shrugged it all off. So long as you have the space on your desk, I recommend it.

I thought my Logitech gaming mouse mat was huge. This is bigger. Much bigger. At 1m x 0.5m (actually 0.495m) this nearly covers my office type desk (1.5m x 0.75m.)This actually makes it more practical than the Logitech, as you can place your keyboard on the mat and still have room for your mouse. In use, there's very little difference between this and the more expensive Logitech. The atecs mat has slightly less drag, but still feels good. Some mouse mats can feel like the mouse is on ice, which isn't good for control when gaming. In terms of value, this is great. It should last for years. The only question is: do I need such a large mouse mat? For myself, it's slightly impractical.I'd have to modify it to fit around some things like my monitor shelf and desk light. On the other hand, I'm making a new desk for my grandson, an this will make a great surface for him to write on as well as using it for his mouse. Not really needed for playing minecraft though.

As soon as you receive the SPEEDLINK Atecs Soft Gaming Mousepad you know it will be different. It comes in a smart angled boxed and the mat itself is rolled up.This roll ability means its really easy to transport and carry around with you. The inner surface is protected well chucked in a rucksack or bag.It is a really large mat at 38 by 30 cm which means that you have over 0.114square metres to play around on or space for your mouse to roam.(Thanks to Mr D Clark for correcting my arithmetic in the original review)And my goodness you mouse really will glide over this surface. If you combine this mat with a good gamers mouse then you really have the edge in games. It’s a bit like being a gunslingerand having a holster that opens forwards. You get to the draw micro seconds quicker and it will give you the edge.It will not make you a better player but will allow you to be if you get my drift?Recommended for Gamers.

There's not a huge amount that you can say about a mousepad, other than to say that this one is larger than most, The dimensions are 40 x 50 x 0.3 cm which is a good size. The mousepad can be rolled up making it very portable. If you keep the box that it comes in, then this can be used to hold the mousepad, therefore keeping everything neat and tidy. It's ultra smooth surface means your gaming mouse glides over the pad with no friction at all, making gaming a much better experience. The mousepad is black with the " SPEEDLINK ATECS "logo in red in the bottom right hand corner, so there is nothing to catch your eye or distract you. Once you have tried this mousepad, you will notice the difference straight away making Speedlink your choice in future purchases. Fantastic size, quality and value for money. For these reason's it's 5 * from me folks.

This SPEEDLINK Atecs Soft Gaming Mousepad has a large surface area that is optimised for fast mouse movements. The mat measures 30 x 38 x 0.3 cm and the top surface is ultra-smooth black textile for minimal friction and has the brand logo in red in at the bottom right - the under side is non-slip rubberised and bright red. The mat arrives nicely rolled up in it's box and can be easily rolled up again for storage or transport – if you intend to do this you may wish to keep the box for the purpose. This mat may be a bit large for day to day use but if you have sufficient space the mat works well for general mouse use too. This good value mousepad is one of the best gaming mats I've used and seems tough and build to last – recommended to all gamers looking for maximum mouse speed.

OK, I love my game time but when I have to do my photoshop art, I have to be very careful where the mouse is to start with in order to keep the lines smooth as well as cohesive without having to stop and move part way through and then spend time realigning afterwards. This mouse mat has now made this a thing of the past as I can work without having to stop which has now not only saved time but also my sanity. Its great as its smooth, the mouse rolls over easily and keeps track on the monitor quite well. All round a great product and whilst you may think its a bit pricey, the sheer size makes it adaptable to different users. As a gamer its a solid product but as a person who has struggled with getting the lines right on art,its a tool that I can't recommend enough.

I did not know a mouse pad could be so large. But actually, it does make sense! I can't recall the number of times I wish the pad was larger. Ta-da, it is here.It comes in a nice presentation box, rolled up - so first I thought it would be all bended and screeched up, but no, it opened beautifully flat. The mouse glides effortlessly on this large surface (almost one and a half time the size of an A4 sheet!) and responses very quickly - I understand the gaming element in its description.I use Photoshop a lot, and it is important to have very precise movements when I use the mouse instead of my stylus, and this mouse mat is of tremendous help.Overall great piece of kit at a very decent price range.

Fantastic size well OTT. This is the biggest mouse mat I have seen!No you didn't read it wrong it is that big. I have a 58" slide out drawer under my desk which carries assorted mice and two full sized keyboards. It might be sacrilege, but I sliced the mat in half horizontally, and it fits my drawer with a piece left over big enough to be a normal sized mouse mat and will be useful my for my laptops.Besides it sheer size, it is an impressive deep black with a spongy red non-slip base and edge. I cut mine with no obvious detriment to the construction. The mouse runs smoothly over the surface without missing a beat no matter what speed its moved, its nice to feel and lays flat.BrilliantJC

Although this product was billed as '2XL', it really is - huge in fact. Luckily I have a large desk to place it on and it covers about three-quarters of it, thus acting as a non-slip surface for my laptop, stand and 3M Gel Wrist Rest (qv), so it wouldn't be a suitable product for those who have smaller desks. I must admit that it's an absolute boon for working with larger documents as the mouse doesn't foul the edge of the pad. It also, along with my wrist rest, forms a nice cushioned surface to type on. My husband, who dabbles in art, likes it too as it provides a good base for his drawing easel.I really like it and it's a great innovation. A very competitive price too.
