I've had my fair share of phones and can't say I've ever been completely satisfied until now. I've had my XA Ultra for about two months - so far so good. I would say I'm hard to please in regards to mobile phones, but I am really impressed. I've been a user of Android, Windows and Apple, I decided to move back onto Android after disliking iPhone. I was quite shocked at how big the phone was when I opened the box (as I checked every spec except the size before ordering it), this can be a disadvantage but it might be because I have rather tiny hands. But there is a handy feature where you swipe from the corner and have the option to make the screen smaller to fit your needs. The battery life is actually alright,I'm a heavy user of my phone, one of your typical 17 year old's glued to the screen with Facebook, Messenger, Instagram and mainly Snapchat (which everyone know's uses a great deal of battery life). I'd say my battery lasts me the day, I've gone to bed a few times with it being on around 15-25%. When looking for a phone, I'd say the camera qualities played a great deal in the making of my decision, I enjoy photography and use a DSLR camera so a phone camera has to be pretty decent to impress me, and with 16MP on just the selfie camera and 21.5MP on the rear camera, it's certainly worked. There's a lot of discussion on and off social media regarding iPhone vs Android camera quality. I did like the quality with iPhone, and a lot of Apple users like to put Android cameras down. But I can say if you're after an Android that can't be slagged off by Apple users for it's photo quality, this is the one for you. As I've said I use Snapchat a lot, and I was worried that the quality would suck moving from iPhone to Android, but I was very pleasantly surprised, it takes some very decent photos. Despite it being a big phone, I'm adjusting to now. It works as an advantage when streaming videos or movies as the screen is bigger and the 1080p quality is pretty good. The phone design is quite sleek, I recommend the white colour. In regards to the system, there was some issue with the system not working the first week I had it, it was just the system freezing up and I thought "here we go I've wasted £200", but after googling the issue I found out all I had to do was restart the phone and I haven't had the problem since, everything has been running smoothly and I'm actually really happy with it. First time I can say I've been completely happy with a phone. A good purchase, I've found a device I'm optimistic about keeping long term.

Purchased this phone elsewhere as it was in stock been using it for about 2weeks no problems at all anyone gripeing about battery life need not worry it's battery's is fine. Also the large screen is impressive and much improved viewing angles from previous z1 and z2 models the sound is really good on this as well not super quiet as old sonys. The cameras are really good although con to this phone Sony put image stabilisation on front camera but not the rear camera this is great if you take selfies witch this phone seems to be aimed more at capturing the selfie crowd but I don't care for that would have preferred image stabilisation on rear camera. The colours are vibrant and very good on the video recording and image capturing side and no stabilisation seems to not be a issue on the rear camera but still prefer it to be there. No gyroscope in the phone is another con but not really essential. I have experienced zero lag between open pages and windows on the phone been using for around a month now and it's still solid. Strangely though the phone will for some reason seem to forget saved wifi until you restart the device then all is well this will hopefully be addressed in future Sony update. Another really good thing about this phone is it doesn't seem to be as full of bloat Ware as Samsung and other phones I've used. I'd your wanting a dependable large phablet then this is a really good phone for the price in this day then price governs almost everything yes the a9 and note 7 are better in some areas of performance and features but these are double if not triple to buy out right. For what the Sony phone offers for the price it's really good I've not regretted my purchase of this phone at all. I read reviews that bash it's battery life and advise the a9 but after a month solid usage I get a full day out my battery streaming and playing games on it so it's no problem to do this with stamina mode engaged. In summary if you want a well built quality feeling phablet then this phone is definitely worth the price.

I think this is the best value Xperia phone in the Xperia line up at the moment, I was fortunate to pick this up during a lightning deal for £215.58 which I feel is all it's money, and my primary purpose for buying this phone was for the rear facing camera and 6" screen neither of these two features have disappointed me. I'm not going to talk about specs other than the software runs along mostly smoothly some apps hang back and are slow to open but thats the processor or ram managment, usual Sony bloatware you can't un-install, The phone makes good clear voice calls with a really loud and clear speaker, both the front and rear cameras are great for point and shoot photography, the screen is superb and my only concern being the battery, well that's not been an issue, I get a full day from the phone, but if you are using the phone 24/7 like any phone, have a battery pack handy. This phone is large, but not unwieldy and compared to a 2014 Nexus 6 easier to hold. I can't tell you all the benefits of having a large screen phone, but if your driving and using Google maps, wait until you see the sat nav working on the 6" screen and if you are going to use this phone as a sat nav from time to time the GPS fix is as strong as my Nexus 6 in built up city areas.Update 31/1/2017Having used this phone now for nearly 6 months my initial impression and thoughts remain the same, it's a good solid mid range phone with 2 great cameras. You will definitely need an additional SD card because the built in storage is poor by today's standards so do budget that in. Battery life remains strong, easily a full days use and 2 days standby. Some people have complained about battery life, but I suspect it's a rogue app draining the battery. Regarding Android security patches Sony's last one was 5th September 2016 so if software security is a concern to you maybe look at a Nexus.Disclaimer, "I paid for this myself", either during a lightning deal or full price. Please excuse spelling & grammar

Bought this phone elsewhere, because it was available quicker. Also, don't pay more for the colour, because it is still the same phone. The lime gold is a dull gold finish, so don't expect a shiny phone. That said, I'm happy with mine!It lacks the finger print security on starting the phone, but that aside, has the expectations you already have. The size is the impressive part of this phone, as well as the camera quality. Having tried the rear camera a few times now, it isn't the best. The 21mp out-performs alot of purpose built camera available, so it's far from rubbish. However, I have a DLSR, so my expectations were likely higher. Overall, there is a visible difference in quality between the front and rear camera, but they are both decent cameras. My biggest gripe on using this phone, is the tiny button on the side, to activate it, whenever it locks. There is a zoom/volume larger button next to the power and that is often found by your hand more easily. If we could opt to change our buttons via settings, I'd certainly do so. As for use, it has numerous options, and I'm still familiarising myself. One thing it has done recently, is lost the wifi a few times. Overnight or not used for a period, it needed a restart to re-find my connection. Other than that, it finds connections easily enough and informs me. Maybe something for Sony to deliver an update easily upon. Some of the default settings will be needed to be tweaked, as always upon first use. The annoying flash of a connection light/notification will bug many during night-times. However, a case also solves this, or the reverse side up. I'd certainly say this phone, at the price, competes well against most phones now. The visuals when using the huge screen, are extremely good. Not 4K good, but extremely good is one short of excellent. If you want a phone, large - there are few as impressive as this one.

I've been testing this mobile for work and it's a really great handset if you want a large screen mobile for a reasonable price. At the time of review this was running Android 6 and it has a nice, clean, Sony interface which is lovely to use. Given the massive screen it's good to see Sony have thought to add a single hand mode, which shrinks the screen into the bottom left or right corner. It's also nice to see the inclusion of a camera button, but I did find the phone didn't react as quick as I'd like when pressing the button down, so it's fortunate you can still use the on screen controls.Games run well and look good on the large screen, no chance of your hands getting in the way of the action when using on screen controls. However you will likely find your hands will muffle the sound when playing a game in portrait mode as the speaker is on the bottom. The cameras are good, this is a great mobile if you're into selfies or vlogging. And that seems to have been the focus for Sony with this mobile, a good mid range mobile that offers a large screen and good cameras, both front and back.If you've not had a large mobile before I'd recommend popping into a store to check this isn't going to be too big for you. The XA Ultra is a lovely looking device but I imagine the size isn't going to suit everybody.

I'm no phone geek but what I do know is that I really like this phone. In the news and in advertising it seems to be all about Apple or Samsung phones. Sony does advertise but just not as much and they don't seem to get the same coverage from media sites that the other 2 do.As a devoted PS4 player and owner of a decent Sony Camera; I was confident that Sony know how to make decent tech and as the phone was at a sale price I decided to take the plunge and get a decent phone as opposed to buying a cheap one. It was advertised as having the Android Marshmallow OS which I was happy with and mentioned nothing about being able to upgrade to the OS 7, so I was quite happy when first switching on the phone I was offered the update to OS7.It seems very user friendly and the graphics are pretty good. The camera is excellent and the pictures look even better than the ones I take with my Sony camera.

I had a chance to play with this phone for a couple of days now.Phone has beautiful big screen.I am surprised with the brightness of the screen,as i only run it on minimum and its still very bright. The typing is easy as buttons are bigger.Phone responds really quickly and smooth. The camera is stunning, however it will give you the mentioned 16 megapixel for front and 21.5mp for the back camera only in 4:3 mode not the 16:9. That's a bit disappointing, but hopefully this can be solved with future update. Battery life in stamina mode is surprisingly good (1 and half day) for normal usage. Its great value for the money overall.

Whilst this is a nice big phone, it is dwarfed by the Xperia z Ultra which is just too slow in this age.It is easy to use, the sim card and Micro sd card are separate thank goodness. The battery capacity does not appear great but it is perfectly usable at the minimum brightness which is more than you can say for the z5 premium for example. This does extend the battery. The screen is good, but don't expect 4k (only idiots want that on a phone as I have discovered to my cost). The camera is good not superlative. The self camera is of use if you like that sort of thing.Good value and cheerful.

Great Product, Great Phone, not all phones need all the whistles and bells, but this phone is amazing for mid range, the cameras are fantastic, the screen is amazingly sharp despite it's 6" size, it's also extremely quick on it's toes to get the job done for restoring from another phone and updating firmware. it actually feels very well built and premium and not cheap, given the phones size, i'm sure sony could have crammed a proper 3500ma batter in there, probably more, other than that, very good phone, i recommend it if your not bothered about going after flagship models.

For those who enjoy using a big screen, it is hard to better the above Sony offering in terms of quality/value balance. Size of the Sony makes it that much harder to misplace or lose. Since buying these bigger ‘phones for my son, he might occasionally break one, but he has not yet lost one, which was an unfortunately common occurrence with smaller ‘phones. This was bought as ‘used’ but it was impossible to tell that thiis had seen any action, especially as the screen was completely unmarked. The lower resolution of this relatively inexpensive ‘phone was not noticeable.

Great camera both front and back, looks good. Unfortunately the handset I had developed intrinsic faults after only 5/6 months. It seems the model suffers from several intrinsic design flaws in its operating system, which is a shame as this is likely the best phone camera available at a good price (better cameras than more expensive models such as galaxy and iphones). I received a full refund from the seller, so wouldnt be necessarily put off buying again.if you are lucky to get one that stays stable, its a good phone.

Actually bought this item elsewhere at the same price. Its a fantastic phone..if you like em big this is the one.Had no restarts or any problems whatsoever..fantastic camera..and plays all the high end games l have tried. Not a lot of memory but thats really the only downside..but you can move some apps to an SD card..go to setting..apps..choose the app to move..click on storage and you get an option to move to SD card.Battery life is about what you would expect for a smart phone..lasts a day ok.

I had this phone for two weeks now and seems like a good product. The overall external look and feel it's great not cheap at all. The phone is fast and camera seems to do the job. Have to test it properly though, as a photographer I'm sure I will be hardly satisfied but we will see.The only issue that is really worrying is that the WIFI connections is not stable, come and goes constantly and I am sure it's a phone's problem as other devices connected to the same wi-fi work perfectly.

Got this via Amazon's Warehouse Deals, where it was described as having some small scratches on the back. They must be microscopic because I can't see any scratches anywhere on it. Anyway, nice big phone which does everything you could want or expect from a smartphone. Looks good, feels nice in the hand, fast and responsive with really good cameras on front and back. I am well pleased with this purchase.
