It took me the best of 30hrs to get from the UK to Japan so I needed all the energy the Vita could muster to keep me from dying of boredom. And this battery pack saved my life in that respects!I haven't drained all the power of the pack yet, but it has already managed to charge up my Vita from 20% back to max three times already. So if your Vita lasts around 4 hours before charging, this will give you at least another 10-12 hours. The item is very simple to use. You receive nothing more than the battery itself and a fairly brief manual. Your Vita's power cord is used to charge both the battery and Vita. The first time I charged up the battery it must've taken around 2-3 hours to do so.You then place the USB end into the charger, other end in the Vita itself, press the power button (seen in the middle of the product photo) and wait for the Vita to revitalize. That's it!You can tell how well charged up the pack is by the colour of the power button (seen in the middle of the product photo). I can't quite remember all the colours (I've left the manual on the other side of the world) but if I recall correctly, when it's lit green, the pack is charged up to 70%+. This is a good way of keeping track on how much power is left on the battery and you can judge accordingly how much power you've left for your Vita. When the pack is fully charged, the power button's light turns off.The time it takes to charge the Vita is very fast. The 20 minutes I've spent writing this review, it's already charged up my Vita by another 50% and still going strong. I'd say around 30-45 minutes to charge from 0-100.The battery is quite heavy and strong so, whilst I haven't dropped it, I'm going to take an educated guess that this item can withstand quite a bit of ruff and tumble. The only thing I would advise is to find a small box to keep the battery in when taking around. There is nothing to protect the USB and charger slots from dirt, etc, getting in. Luckily, I have a second Vita carry case that I put mine in, along with the USB wire. You may wish to do the same if you're carrying it around in a bag which is prone to have dust inside.Overall, this is a fantastic gizmo to own and I recommend to anyone who plans on traveling for long periods of time without a plug socket to keep your Vita alive. Sure, the RRP is pretty steep, but I would call it a long term investment if, like me, you plan on using you Vita for many years to come.

The PS Vita loves to suck its battery juice in double quick time and being away from a power socket can spell disaster to your gaming time. So having a non-replacable battery could have spelled disaster for Vita owners, fortunately Sony released the Vita Battery pack to resolve this. The Sony Battery pack is nicely made and solid feeling but not too heavy. It comes exactly as in the picture, just a battery pack, a wee instruction guide and the box, no cables at all!The Vita charging/data cable (and power pack) is used to charge the Vita Battery (the Vita connector plugs into the bottom of the battery pack), the power light on the Battery will glow red/amber/green and then switch off during its charge cycle. It should come with a partial charge and can take quite a while to fully charge.Once charged you use the USB charge cable alone (leave the power supply at home) along with the battery pack. Plug the USB end of the cable (into the top of the battery pack this time) and the Vita connector goes into your Vita. Switch on the battery pack with a short press on the battery pack power button.I've seen comments that the battery pack is good for 2 1/2 full charges of the Vita, but I've personally noticed mine is more like 2 half charges (I have the 3G vita, so it probably draws more power in standby than the wifi only one).* Pros - Charge your Vita on the go.* Cons - Needs the Vita power supply to charge it.- No cables provided.- Price.

There are other non branded chargers that have higher, alleged, capacity. However I played it safe and purchased this for the Vita. Upon receiving it I was surprised to see the instructions explicitly mention using it to charge other devices. With a suitable cable for the 3DS it charges my 3DS XL whilst I am playing it. Of course it also charges the Vita, iPhone 5, iPad 3, Nokia Lumia 920. E.g. every device I've so far tried to charge with it. It's now an pretty essential piece of kit in my bag. The power button light also acting as a charge status indicator is useful too as I can charge a device until it turns orange and save the half charge or so left as an emergency boost for a phone or other device. At a rough guess I'd say it could recharge my Lumia 920 to full roughly 2.5 times which ties in with the ~5000maH this thing has.Easily keeps my phone and portable console topped up on the go. Really good piece of kit, just a bit on the pricey side to recommend as an essential purchase. On the other hand it does more than I originally purchased it for.Oh forgot to mention, you will need your Vita charger to use this thing as it has the same proprietary connector, I guess you could argue that's why it's not 5 stars. As a sony vita branded piece of kit though I find this OK, just irritating. OTH it's irritating that anything uses proprietary connectors in this age.

Bought this mainly for my PS Vita. For that purpose it works tremendously, though be advised, as other reviews have stated, you'll need a Vita charger to charge the battery itself.Been using mine for 6 months plus now, it's a high quality item. There's lots of cheapy battery packs available on Amazon and elsewhere, but few match the quality and capabilities of this one - you can play and charge the Vita simultaneously with this, exactly as if you were plugged into the mains. Same goes when used with an iPad. Lots of 1a chargers are incapable of this and can only charge whilst the device is inactive.I'll be honest though, I use this mostly with my iPhone. At 5000mah, it can recharge my iPhone 5 (1430mah)over three times from flat between charging the portable charger itself. Extremely useful, I generally only have to charge the portable battery once a week, and even then it's more out of habit to ensure I've catered for the following week. Heartily recommended.

This is a great product and not just for the PS Vita! As you can plug any USB cable into this charger, you can literally charge all manor of things and the output is high enough to charge tablets too! Very small and compact for the size of the battery, can easily recharge the PS Vita system almost 2 times. It holds it's battery for a long time too, which means you are covered if you charge it up and don't use it for a few weeks as there will still be a high level of juice ready to be used! The only niggle I have is this needs an official Sony PS Vita 1000 series cable to charge it, so if you have a PS Vita Slim like myself, then your charger won't fit! Official leads online are expensive,so the only cheap alternative I found that works is the GAMEWARE cable from GAME or GAMESTATION. Do Not buy a cable off of ebay as they do not work! However I am very happy with my GAMEWARE charger.Buy this product but maybe find a lead beforehand!

Great way to keep playing and also charge your iPhone if you need to!The PSVITA is an amazing device and is incredibly underrated but after around 6 hours of playing (which goes quickly as the games are very high quality and immersive) the battery needs a recharge and if you're out and about this portable power supply is great. It gives about 7 hours of extra play time or you can just recharge your PSVITA battery if you've finished gaming. As I said earlier it can also charge other devices as long as you've got the correct cable and it has a USB connection at one end (e.g. iPhone charge/data cable).

This would have had 5⭐️ If it had a lead supplied with it, very poor customer care not to do that. To charge the unit we had to find a cable to go between it and the PS Vita charger, we used one from Golitron. It won't charge without putting the usb end into the Vita charger first, ie you can't plug it straight into a usb wall plug. First charge takes several hours, light flashes red when charging. Unit will not charge if it is on apparently, not tried that. Not given it a long test to charge Vita on the go, but so far short time was good.

As an owner of the new PS Vita and a constant gamer I usually run out of battery without noticing till it is too late. This charger sounded great and it should be useful (i think). However I couldn't use it yet!I got it last week and now I need to find/buy a charger or cable that fits the original Vita as it can only be charged using the old charger and it doesn't come with it in the box!I will update this review once I can actually use it :(

Works great. Charges my vita nearly 2 times from one full charge of this battery pack. tripled my battery life whilst traveling and works with my mobile phones, kindle etc happily too.Only downside to this battery pack over others is that to charge it, you need to use a Vita Usb cable, which is understandable as it's designed for a Vita, but micro USB would have been nice as a 2nd connection.Overall, for the price, can't complain.

I love this was great during a power cut a while back.I use with my iPhone or even my Vita yeah it's annoying it needs to older charging cable but as I have the original vita not the new one that wasn't an issue to me.The battery lasts a long time too.Very handy for long journeys such as car or even train as well the vita's or even a phone's battery life can be limiting especially if playing say Pokemon Go or something on it.

Disclosure: I love Playstation and this was a great little addition to my collection. It's also very practical for charging my phone, etc. in an emergency. Two things to remember is that 1) It can only be charged with the Original Vita charging cable and 2) it cannot charge your Vita at the same time, should you have two cables. That's a shame, but I still love it. The build quality is fantastic.

Really good quality portable charger for the vita, that uses the original vita cable to charge it, so you don't have to carry extra cables with you. Although this is the draw back to it, as it won't work with any other cable, but the original Vita Lead. So if you no longer have the original lead to the 1000 series, don't waist your money on it as it will not work otherwise.

Excellent charger - brought it with me on several long-haul flights and it holds its charge really well. Works best if you turn the device off and don't use while charging, but can also be used to maintain battery if you're in the middle of a long call. Perfect little size to fit into your bag or sometimes a pocket if your pockets aren't too tight.

Proprietary charging port.Doesn’t charge from the PS4’s USB 3.0 ports.Doesn’t charge from some USB chargers.Very picky when it comes to charging from different sources, exactly like the PS Vita.On the other hand I used it to power the PS Vita TV in my car and has done that great. 50% consumed over 2 Hours
