I actually bought this tripod from a local retailer as we're heading off travelling and it likely wouldn't have arrived from Amazon on time (we live on a remote island), but I felt compelled to review it! I produce 360 panoramic images using a Panasonic GH4 and Samyang 7.5mm fisheye on a dedicated panoramic head. I normally use a Manfrotto 055 tripod for this, but as we're going to be in some pretty remote places the idea of carrying an extra 2.5kg of tripod didn't appeal! I do have a monopod but it's not ideal for panoramic work with a full frame fisheye, and the pano head I use has preset click stops so it really needs to be on a tripod. After a bit of weekend research this little Slik traveltripod looked to fit the bill at a very attractive price (certainly compared to the likes of the Gitzo carbon jobs). First impression is it's perfect for my requirements, seems sturdy and well made, although as some other reviewers have said the bottom leg extensions are quite flimsy. As my panoramic head fits straight onto the plate (although the head mounting thread is only 1/4" rather than the standard 3/8" so I had to use an adapter) I’ll not be using the ball head for panos, (although it seems quite solid, see below). I level the head using the tripod legs (as I do with the Manfrotto) and once set up the tripod is very solid. The GH4, lens and panoramic head (a Tom Shot 360) combo is under 1kg so a perfect weight for this tripod.I tested it in quite breezy conditions (25mph+) with 5-stop HDR bracket on each of the eight photos required for the sphere and the resultant stitch was perfect. I use a remote release cable so wasn't touching the tripod at all (except for rotating the pano head between shots), and it showed no instability or wobble. This was on grass so the legs were firm on the ground – however it may not prove so stable on the rock, scrub and gravel where we’re going. There’s no hook on the centre tube to attach a bag for extra weight, although this would be simple enough to add.I also tried it with the GH4 and a Panasonic 12-60mm on the supplied ball head and it was solid enough for landscape work. I would suggest (as have others) using the self-timer, a remote release or app to fire the shutter at slower shutter speeds, especially if the bottom legs are extended; I took a couple of shots at 1/10sec (OIS switched off), one with the bottom legs extended and one without, and there’s definitely a little bit of shake evident on the former (not much, you need to view at 200% or more to see it). I would imagine a full frame DSLR mirror could induce shake so probably best to lock the mirror up, however I tested it with an APS-C Nikon D3300 on the self-timer and there was no evidence of this. For travelling with a relatively lightweight mirrorless or APS-C camera (the GH4 is actually quite heavy for a Micro Four Thirds) I think the supplied ball head would be adequate and certainly locks well, but with the lack of a separate friction control, no bulls eye level and no separate pan action on the head (you can loosen the centre nut and adjust pan by turning the whole column but it’s not ideal) I’ll likely take my Benro ball head along as well.Overall I’d recommend this tripod as a lightweight travel solution for compact, mirrorless and APS-C type cameras with small prime lenses or kit style zooms; it may not provide enough security for full frame DSLRs and anything with big glass on the front.

The Slik Sprint Pro II is quite interesting, for lightweight cameras, such as compacts or CSCs, it an excellent all purpose tripod straight out of the box but for a DSLR it can be made into an excellent travel tripod with a small adaptation. The ball head is tiny and rated to a max load of only 2Kgs so mounting a 1Kg DSLR with a hefty lens on it is pushing the poor thing to its design limit, but change the head and forget about using the thinnest leg sections and I have found that this tripod makes a great lightweight, travel companion. I have replaced the OEM Slik head with a JOBY Ballhead X which is rated at 5Kgs and works perfectly as it is still fairly lightweight but very nicely made.I still wouldn't use it with my big F4 300mm telephoto lens, but I have another heavier Slik tripod for that. Only four stars because of the low capacity OEM ballhead but still highly recommended as a travel tripod. Photo is of tripod with Joby Ballhead X and a Pentax K3 with D-FA 28-105 zoom.

When I was thinking about buying this tripod I hadn't seen many reviews which is why I'm gonna write this one. Very well made and definitely looks the part, sturdy even when the legs are fully extended and can easily hold my Nikon d3100 and a zoom lens. Very versatile tripod and can be made to go very low to the ground for many different types of situations. Folds down to a very small size and isn't a bother to carry, nice ball head, which is also very sturdy also and has not loosened up on me. Nice soft padding on the legs too which makes it even easier to carry, also comes with a small shoulder bag too. Perfect for using on a journey up a hill or on a trek etc.Very well made tripod and although there are probably cheaper ones out there I am very glad I went with this choice. It will hopefully suit me for a very long time!

I have been looking for a tripod that can get my camera low to the ground but is still small enough and light enough to hike with easily but also wouldn't be easily blown over.I decided to give this tripod a go and I'm very impressed! The quality of build is very good, all moving parts operate smoothly, the tripod can go very low and indeed also quite high. It's quick and easy to use and certainly will hold a large DSLR with a moderately heavy lens.I've used a D7000 with grip and a 70-200 F/2.8 which it held but wasn't great in wind. Without the grip and using my 17-55 F/2.8 it was excellent.Overall exceeded my expectations and is well priced, I can highly recommend. You won't find better at this price and you're likely to be paying more than double for anything better.

The first tripod I ever bought was a Slik Gazelle, which I picked up while stationed in Japan in 1983. I used it regularly until last month, when a plastic part in the mounting head snapped. 30 years of service...not too shabby. This is the standard for Slik has set up with its made-in-Japan craftsmanship. This tripod is slightly larger and heavier than the Gazelle and adds enough extra features to make the extra weight a good trade off.It has a quick-release plate, and adjustable leg angle locks.Overall, steady movement and a stable platform for all but the heaviest lenses and highest wind conditions.

As some of the others have pointed out, this tripod is excellent for a compact camera. I don't have a (D)SLR, so can't comment, but I've carried it on a number of trips to use with my Samsung (largish) compact - and it has been brilliant. I've done night shots with it, I've taken pictures of myself while traveling - no need to wait half an hour for somebody to go past in order to take a photo of myself in a particular setting. Build quality so far seems good and everything is still working as it should - but I don't have any other tripod to compare it with.

I bought my one of these in Korea... and haven't regretted it for a second. As a light(ish) basic tripod it has all the features you coudl ask for. The camera can be put underneath to 'copyshoot' things. The legs go out very low and the base of the central column is removalable for low level shots. The ball head is a little small for pro size DSLR perhaps. (I wouldn't leave mine on it at full height and be out of arms length away....). But as a piece of kit that easy to carry and easy to use it can't be faulted.

Best travel tripod! Light, sturdy, inexpensive, quick setup, firm but easy to set ball head, removable and reversible central column. Love it! Only criticism, the bloody screw of the quick-release mounting plate, the design is rubbish, when you screw it to the camera you deal with a very flat pan screw... so you need a screw driver or a Swiss knife to secure it to the camera body... always got an army knife with me when I take pictures but still...

I bought this as a gift, having been told exactly what model to buy (so it wasn't a surprise)! However, I have seen it being used almost daily and the recipient has confirmed she is absolutely delighted with it. I don't know too much about the detail of what makes it good, but I see it being moved around, adjusted and fiddled with, and so far I've not heard a cross word being muttered. Brownie points for me!

As an amateur, I was unwilling to pay lots for a professional tripod, but still wanted a semi-pro, sturdy and light weight tripod for a decent price. This tripod seems to fit the bill well.Pros: Light-Weight, easy to assemble and comes with a carry-bag.Cons: Not as sturdy as I'd hoped with a DSLR mounted on top.

Very satisfied with the tripod - light as a feather, very small in folded condition and, as far as I can tell, made from good quality aluminium, not a cheap plastic. Having d40 with 200mm on it. Recommend for those who look for light tripod for basic level dslr. Note that it has ball head, maybe you won't like it.

For its price, it feels incredibly well built. Easy to set up, with a basic guide to make sure everything is simple and easy. One gripe is that everything is VERY stiff, and took a bit of loosing up. Other than that, if you are looking for a more budgeted tripod this is a great place to start.

With any lightweight tripod you are going to get some movement and the same is true for this tripod too. That said, as long as you don't try to overextend it in adverse conditions, it is grand. I have had my Nikon 7000 and telephoto lens on it without any bother.

This is a really well made tripod. It comes with a good quality ball head and a very nice guick release plate. It is made for light weight equipment as it is very light and very compact.I highly recommend it to anyone who wants a compact tripod.

I am very happy with this tripod. Very light and solid enough, i can take it with me everywhere. I like taking my camera and the tripod together and i don't want to carry 20 kg with me every single time! Very good product.Delivery was fast too.
