We have rope ladders in the gym and they are lots of fun. But the SKLZ Elevation Ladder is different than the gym rope ladders in a couple of ways. The SKLZ ladder is made up of hard plastic pieces and it is only 7 feet long. The 5 rails on each side are connected by stretchy inside lines, like many of the other products, including the nets. (These same connecting lines on our nets have turned out to be pretty durable, lasting even through this rather brutal Michigan winter.) The plastic pieces are pretty easy to snap together, as long as you lay them out flat, and make sure the logo is in the same place on each of the rungs. We have set up an obstacle course through my gym, I mean, house, and this goes through the center hall. The ladder didn't cause the children problems, except for occasionally catching their feet on it and bringing the ladder down from the up position, but they were only hopping through it.For my purposes, the exercises on the included chart, Lateral Hurdle Hop - Stabilize, Lateral Hurdle Hop - Continuous, Hurdle Drill - Quick to Stabilize, Hurdle Drill to Acceleration, all are pretty challenging. I was worried about my knees through this and was interested that the exercises focus on the hips, which is not something I have ever focused on before, probably because I was distracted by the effects on my knees. But visualizing the intended body parts, for me, anyway, has helped me learn to use correct form.My only complaint about this ladder is that when you get a foot caught on it, or touch it, the rungs come loose or change position so that one is flat while all the others are up. This means you have to stop to put it back together. I guess the trick is to get good enough not to hit the ladder.

I have a son who plays basketball and baseball. I coach both of these and soccer as well. I have though about getting one of these for my son and to use during practices. This came up as a prime buy so i grabbed it. It comes with videos to teach you all the main kinds of workout patterns you can do. I used it in my house to try it out and learn the good techniques i will use with my son and his team later on. They are all fairly simple and only take a few attempts before you can do it. These aren't easy, you need coordination to do many of these. I did it after using the treadmill and it was a great finish to a run.I have seen others claim the ladder was mis-sewn. When i got mine,it was twisted inside itself making twists near the center of the ladder. It only took feeding itself through the center to straighten it out. Literally took 5 seconds, but i can see where someone may think it was built improperly as that was my first though.I do not like the length of the ladder. Though it doesn't show a longer one on Amazon, the ladder comes with 11 rungs, where the ones used in the video have 20. Also the rungs in the ladder on the video seem to be bigger. I may buy a second one and attach them for a better workout. This is why i give it a four and not a five star review, though again they don't do any faults advertising. The quality of it is pretty nice. The straps are strong and the plastic on the ladder can take a beating. I'm 200 lbs and step on them quite a lot and they bend a little and that's about it.The bag for it seems strong enough and there are stakes to hold it into the ground. This is a great supplement to any outdoor cardio workout and a good way to improve footwork/coordination in any athlete.

I will be the first to admit that it has been years since I have used speed hurdles or a speed ladder. However, with three young children interested in sports, I thought it would be something worth trying once again. The SKLZ Elevation 2-in-1 Speed Hurdles and Ladder has been a fun and so far durable tool for my 3 young children to use. When I first set this product up, I have to admit that I had some concerns about the durability of the Speed Hurdles/Ladder. The cross members seemed a bit flimsy, especially when propped up in the hurdle position. So far, it has survived the onslaught of my 10, 8, and 6 year old daughters. When they have stepped on a cross member in the up position, there seems to be enough give in the member to help prevent breakage. When broken down, the product consists of 5 rectangular pieces, each measuring roughly 26 inches by 18 inches. There is a small, drawstring, nylon type bag to store the hurdles/ladder in when not in use. When collapsed, the product is roughly the size of two pizza boxes side by side. The sides of the hurdles/ladder are connected together by a stretchable cord, which allows for fast assembly and breakdown. Moving the product from a ladder to hurdles is simply pushing the side pieces together or pulling them apart.I have used other SKLZ products in the past and they seem to be a decent balance of quality, ease of use, and ease of storage. This product is no exception. While it seems a bit flimsy, the kids have not yet broken it. At 250 pounds, I stepped on a cross member in the hurdle position and it did not break. While only time will tell if this product will remain durable after months of use, so far it seems quite promising.

My kids and I use an agility ladder to work on footwork and speed. I do it to keep in shape, my kids do it for soccer and track. We have a normal nylon strap type agility ladder, but wanted something a little different to change it up some. This is obviously plastic. The sections are held together by shock cord type string, which makes it very simple to set up, but kind of a hassle to put away as the section keep re-assembling after taking them apart. The ladder spacing is similar to a normal agility ladder, though the width (black parts in the photo, not yellow parts) is wider than most. It is also shorter than the other agility ladders I have used, but that is one of the nice changes. The 'hurldes'part seemed like a good idea, but after a couple of uses we gave up on that and no longer use them that way. They are easy to raise and snap in place, but any sort of bump causes them to fall back down. The only way to use them is if you stake the ladder into the ground. Staking it down is not hard, but if you want to move it around or set it up on a hard surface it obvously doesnt work. There is nothing really NEW you can do with the hurdles you cant do with the normal ladder part, it simply requires you to raise your feet higher to accomplish the same drills you would do otherwise. If you are into any sort of field sport, an agility ladder is an excellent tool. This one is particularly nice as it is so easy to set up and that it is not 15' or 20' long, so you can set it up in a small yard or even your driveway. The only drawback in my opinion is the hurdle part, as it requires you stake it down and therefor must be used in soft grass or something similar.

This product defines a visual space for exercises such as hopping on one foot, running sideways, shuffling. Initial installation involves easily snapping 12 plastic hinges into place. The ladder/hurdles are great for an aerobic and agility-testing part of a home workout and folds and stores quickly in a provided large bag.I would not use this outdoors: outside, the spaces are large, and then I would feel constrained by the 15" stride between rungs. If you step on a rung, the hurdles all collapse to the flat ladder configuration. But if you trip on a rung, instead of knocking over a single hurdle, you will be kicking the entire frame. Fortunately, there aren't any sharp edges. When I received the product,it had been in cold weather for a while, and I cracked one hinge upon installation. I was able to tape the rung to the proper attachment point as a workaround. The manufacturer SKLZ cautions:Please Note: The Elevation Ladder is not intended to be taken apart after each use. It was designed to be setup once, and then folded after each use for storage & transport in the carrying bag that accompanies it. If the user does opt to remove the rungs after initial assembly, there is a risk of damage to the product. If the user must disassemble the Elevation Ladder, please take special caution in lifting them away from each side of the ladder to prevent breakage. If damage to the product does occur, please contact customer service at 1-888-225-7275 or [email protected] contacted customer service and received a rapid response offering a replacement rung.

Footwork is an underappreciated but essential part of any sport training. Strength and conditioning must be supplemented with balance and agility for optimal athletic performance. The SKLZ Speed Hurdles and Ladder allows even the recreational athlete to work on their "foot strike and lift frequency to improve maneuverability" and conditioning. The plastic pieces are easy to assemble and come packed in a generously sized cinch-lock type bag. Although the manufacturer cautions that the "Elevation Ladder is not intended to be taken apart after each use" I found that mobility is a key feature of this ingenious design. In the winter, we set up (with the flat or elevated rungs)in a common-use hallway where every transit requires engagement. In the summer, it's easy to move the ladder from yard, to track, to garage or gym, and other workout areas as needed. The Ladder has retained its shape and material integrity despite all the breaking down and rebuilding. The six 4" rungs are another excellent design feature. When snapped into the upright position, only a misstep will trigger a rung's collapse. Footfall vibrations do not trigger a response - even on a flat, hard surface. No false alarms will interrupt your momentum. If the rung falls, you'll know that your fancy footwork still needs work.Materials, design, ease-of-use, and price make this is a 5-star, and highly recommended, product for your sporting family. Buy two, lay them end-to-end, for an even harder workout.

We've had this set up in our basement since receiving it, and it has gotten a fair amount of us as part of our family's physical workout routine. I have found that a series of stepover workouts provides a serious workout for legs and hips, while my kids have been using it for agility and some light plyometrics. The list of suggested exercises that comes with the product may prove useful to beginners, and there are of course a huge number of suggestions to be found online. The product can be folded and stored pretty easily, although we have just been pushing it into a corner when it's not being used. While I appreciate the need for the hurdles to have some give (otherwise you'd trip and fall),I have found that they are sometimes too easy to fold with the slightest touch, leading to the whole ladder simply laying flat. It can be annoying to have to stop a workout routine to fix the device, although some of that is obviously human error. I also would have liked to see something with 7-8 rungs given the price tag, but I also think that would be more of a challenge for those storing it without breaking it down after every use.As with most SKLZ product, this is a good one.

The SKLZ Elevation 2-in-1 Speed Hurdles and Ladder is a simple product, but is functional and well-designed. In addition to athletic training, it also works well for rehabilitation exercises related to walking and stepping. For initial exercises, the ladder can be laid flat to allow the user to step over the "rungs" into the next "box". The profile is low, so there is no risk of tripping. The ladder can then be raised to its standing height of four inches to allow the user to practice stepping over a threshold and into the next "box". Since the ladder is light weight plastic, however, and since the elevated "rungs" are plastic, there is not risk that the user will trip over the "rung" of the ladder - it will just collapse under their weight if they mis-step. Lastly, the unit folds up and stores in a bag when not in use.

If you need to get this out and put it away a lot, as I do, then this isn't what you want. I have both the SKLZ hurdles (an inferior product) and the SKLZ speed ladder (an outstanding product). This combo of the two seems like a great idea, but it is too time-consuming to get back into storage. This is an issue for me in particular, I need things that go in and out of the bag quick. So a dealbreaker for me. BUT, if you haven't got this consideration, then I could recommend the product.UPDATE: Two years and a hundred practices later, I have to raise my rating on this review. The setup and putaway is not so bad. It is a little bit of a hassle. But this product has stood up to so much use,and been such a winner in training my players, that I need to give it 5 stars.

I’ve never used a ladder in my workouts, or even really done anything more than lift a few weights and run, but this looked too convenient to not try, and with a big obstacle race coming up mid-year, I really needed to up my game. I’m so glad I snagged this. It is perfect for use inside or outside, easily compacted and stored away and to pull out and set up. This really does have multiple uses, and I’ve spent the past month scouring the internet for videos and workouts to get the most out of this tool. Sadly, this doesn’t have a DVD, which would have been useful, but really this is so much more than I thought it was going to be and I can feel it working as the days go by.This is a great addition to anyone’s workout regimen!

our kids' karate instructor used this one night to help with agility. the kids had so much fun using it and over a few weeks their skills improved greatly. not only does it help with balance, but there are so many activities you can do with this ladder. I would not recommend using it on a wood floor though - carpet or outdoors in the grass is better. It works well to stake it down in the grass so that the ladder does not move. well worth the money! It also serves as our go-to energy burner for some very active boys! It is a challenge for them as I switch up the activities and not only do they get their energy out but they are learning balance and agility at the same time!So glad we purchased this!

Good ladder. Use for my daughters soccer practice and my son uses it for his soccer and football drills. Quality is good and I have no complaints. No flaws or damage. Ordered one and was sent a ladder without the stakes or the book. Sent it back and thought about trying a different brand. After researching every ladder Amazon sold, I decided to try this one again. Glad I did. Second one had everything with it and has held up just fine. Unless you are college or pro team, I doubt you will be able to tear this up. I had the rungs twisted but was able to get them straight after about 5 minutes. Now I just take it up and place it in a way that avoids twists.Have used indoors and out and am pleased.

This is a great quality ladder with hurdles. I set this out during my middle school PE classes during one of our fitness days. I was pleasantly surprised with the quality. I did not use the hurdles with the kids at first. The ladder worked very well and the kids got a great workout. It appears that it will last a long time. There are so many fitness exercises that can be done with a fitness ladder. This is a great addition to our fitness equipment. Something so simple adds so much to a fitness routine. SKLZ is making so many terrific items in both sports and fitness, I would not hesitate to purchase their items. I am really impressed with the quality of each of their products.

I purchased this product because I recently had knee surgery and I used the ladder as part of my rehab. This product is fantastic. I didn't want to spend an arm and a leg for such a simple product and this was the perfect fit. The rungs on the ladder are very durable and the video that was supplied gave me some additional exercises that helped me expand on my rehab at home.As a Crossfit trainer I also use this product for warm ups on the field. I like the fact that it came with ground spikes to pin the ladder down into the ground. This product is very durable and easy to transport as it bundles up together in a nice tote bag.All together I am very pleased with this product.
