This is one of those reviews after receiving and examining, but not having tested out. Bear that in mind. The Aberdeen bag is great value for money, very good quality, and with the full cotton inner, quite luxurious amongst sleeping bags, even going to a few times its price. The main points worth drawing attention to are:- full, thick, combed cotton inner (tartan design) which for a layer of fabric is as good, as thick itself as the layer of most combed cotton winter duvets. That's a really rare thing in a sleeping bag and must add to comfort, but also warmth. The inner would be considered an inner of an upper market coat, for comparison. (In this age when every extra such as this is rare, but things weren't always like this. The Aberdeen bag is therefore of a better, nicer age!)- the cotton inner has an insulated lip near the neck with a drawstring. As the top of the whole bag has a drawstring, this makes two points to aid keeping your body heat in quite well.- also there is a mummy hood, inner in comfortable, warm, full combed cotton.- the bag has 2 x 200 GSM insulation all over. These more budget priced bags which are often sold as "4 season" (I'm not sure if the makers use this term, they seem happy just to use the temperature rating) usually have a maximum of 400 grams per square metre (GSM) density of inner insulation. You really couldn't get more at the price, and it's quite generous at this price. (Even some proper "outdoor field" bags have 400 GSM and are considered quite usable in winter in UK, but certainly not all would be warm enough for winter in mid UK say northern England to southern Scotland or Northern Ireland), most probably wouldn't.The fact that this Aberdeen bag has 2 layers of 200 GSM indicates it may have a better than usual total filling of 400 GSM, as there should be a little air insulation between the two layers.- waterproof outer, and quite good quality outer material.- for all of the benefits described above, it rolls up quite neat and not too large or heavy. (For example significantly smaller and lighter than a Vango Nitestar 450 or Highlander Echo 500, two budget, entry level, serious field bags. I'm not comparing the Aberdeen to those for warmth, as I've not tried it yet. Also I don't think it's quite intended to be as serious a bag, quite, while maybe not far off.)I reckon this has such an appeal for comfort and probably warmth in 3 seasons, it could easily function as an all-round bag, the typical favourite, and including some field trips in the cold, depending on temperature. I think its very base comfort rating is probably around 0 degrees, from the makers' descriptions, but that might always be improved with a bag than can take enough cold.If bringing an entry level bag such as the Vango or Highlander mentioned to conditions which can get to -4 or even -5 degrees c (or probably even a few degrees higher), one should think of a good multi chamber air mattress raised a couple of inches or more from ground level, long johns and a long sleeve t shirt (maybe thermal version, depending), a sleeping bag liner (maybe fleece depending on temp and your prior tests of your bag) and either a rescue bag (roll up, orange, plastic variety) or similar, really thick bin liners with good, strong tape to create a full length outer layer with your bag inside. Each of these adds to the warmth capacity, and there's no point in freezing overnight in any sleeping bag wishing you'd bothered to prepare all of them together. You can get too warm in many bags even in winter. But you ought to be prepared and it's quick and easy to combat that by removing a liner, outer bag, sleep wear or unzip a bit.So, the Aberdeen is a very versatile thing. It seems to be great value. It can easily be a preferred bag, maybe for family trips when it gets a little chilly, even from the tail end of summer, to autumn and early spring. But, with proper additions and planning, this bag might compare well with the entry level bags mentioned, just as long as things aren't going to go lower than -2 degrees or so.(It's really worth knowing that for any sleeping bag, the extreme temperature rating just means you're unlikely to die in the bag at that rough temperature! Seriously! You can get hypothermia in any bag within the extreme temp ratings, you can be knocked out, or maybe worse still, not knocked out and suffer. But at least - they think - you won't die, for the length of a night's sleep. Any longer and who knows! Fully seriously. That's what the extreme ratings in sleeping bags are about, any and all sleeping bags, though it's seldom mentioned.)

This large sleeping bag is great for sleeping indoor and out as it is very thick and warm along with it being durable and very soft. The exterior of the sleeping bag is made from a soft and very smooth nylon type material which allows it to look like a normal sleeping bag on the outside and allows it to be slightly water resistant when using it.The zip on the sleeping bag is quite substantial and is strong and tough. It also has a cover on the inside which stops wind getting in when camping. The inside of the sleeping bag is very padded and the tartan pattern on the soft fabric adds adds to the overall look and comfort of the sleeping bag. The soft inner filling allows the sleeping bag to be very soft and comfortable. There is also a wind baffle on the inside which stops wind from getting into the sleeping bag, keeping you warmer. The sleeping bag is also quite spacious inside which allows you to move around. The length is also good as it will fit you even if you are tall. There is also a compression sack included which allows you to make the sleeping bag smaller. This is good for carrying it around as it is smaller than it otherwise should have been.Overall this is a very warm sleeping bag which is built very well and is very comfy to sleep in.This product was provided for an honest and unbiased review.

I have had many sleeping bags in my time and particularly like the type that roll up small, however none of them have ever kept me very warm and more often than not I would be sleeping in thermals or a couple of layers of clothes. Of course I tried that with this sleeping bag, but I was too hot and had to take my layers off and just wore the same pyjamas I would wear in the house, which is fantastic for someone who gets cold easily like me. In case you are wondering, no I wasn't anywhere sunny and warm, I was in Orkney, which at the time was chilly and windy. The sleeping bag is great quality and feels nice to touch, the inner feels warm as soon as you slide in and the zip works perfectly, easily moving up and down.I also loved that Skandika have made both a right and left version of this sleeping bag so you can zip them together to create a double. This is fantastic for couples or for those children who prefer to sleep with their parent.I highly recommend this bag for anyone who is going camping in cooler climes.

Maybe my 2nd or 3rd review only in over 10 years. This is a seriously snug bag. Not quite my bed but damn close to it and perfect for cold evenings in front the tv with the Wand Magic Massager below, whilst depriving the scandalous energy company cartel of their price gouged profits. You can take my electric, you can take my gas, but you cannot take my warmth. For just 3 months worth of standing charge you get this comfortable, furry, fluffy, soft, womb-like cocoon which you won't want to get out of for anything; except maybe a house fire because that would then just be way too hot.[Uploaded via Starbucks free wifi and free electricity.]

Not a big fan of camping anymore as I feel the cold so much. Decided to hunt out a half decent sleeping bag as I was going away for the weekend at the end of September and the weather was looking to be cold and wet. I saw this and liked the idea it is quite roomy and the inner lining is fleece. I hate those mummy bags as I can't bear he restriction, so I opted for the envelope style. Although bigger than most sleeping bags it was easy to pack up and was lovely and snug with a hot water bottle. The fleece lining made a massive difference for me and made my weekend bearable.
