The number of bottles we have tried for our daughter to take to school and all have leaked, apart from this. It is easy to open and fill with a twist top, but also the top can be twisted half a turn to extend and retract a drinking spout. The spout can easily be extended open and retracted fully closed by my six year old. Once the nozzle is fully retracted you can turn it upside down and squeeze it a bit and not a drop comes out!You do get a bit of air when you suck and so it gurggles a bit. All the bottles we've had are the same. My daughter doesn't seem to mind though. I have found that if you squeeze the bottle a bit whilst sucking, this avoids the problem. The nozzle does need taking apart to clean properly. With the lid on the bottle and the nozzle extended, you can push the nozzle sideways to pop open the twisty part of the lid and then it pulls apart into three (see photo). To put it back together after cleaning the nozzle pushes into the twisty part of the lid, then with the nozzle extended you need to line up the markers as shown in the photo and then screw the twisty part of the lid clockwise, applying a bit of pressure on the nozzle as you do this to encourage it to screw down. Once the nozzle is retracted, the twisty part snaps down with further twisting or by pushing it down. See the official Sistema Plastics video on their website for cleaning instructions, particularly if you find mould. Our daughter takes water to school in it and all the kids bottles are kept together for them to drink throughout the day so it has to have their name written on it. Well, the number of times I wrote her name on the side with a marker pen, and every time it got wiped off in days. The solution was to take some fine sand paper and rub the shoulder for the bottle a bit. This takes the shine off and left a smooth strip where I wrote her name with a permanent marker and the name has stayed there legible for months! It is certainly a popular choice of water bottle at school. Now I know how to take it apart and clean it properly I would happily buy another. Very pleased with it overall.

This is a great bottle - it does not leak.Critically, it is BPA-free. BPA (bisphenol A) is often present in polycarbonates (which this type of bottle is made from). BPA is found in many plastics and may be linked to cancer. It is an unstable compound and can leach into food products. Once in food, BPA can move quickly into people - a particular concern for women of childbearing age and young children. So, it pays to buy BPA-free plastics for plastics used with food.It has one problem. You soon get black mould forming inside the lid which we found impossible to remove because you cannot reach it.So we bought another bottle - which succumbed to the identical problem. The problem is caused by thefact that you cannot dismantle the lid - you cannot reach the parts inside the lid through which water flows. Therefore you cannot clean the internal parts of the lid.May I suggest that, as mould needs water to form, to slow down the rate of mould formation do not leave liquids in the bottle for any longer than necessary. For the same reason, after washing it, we stored the lid separate from the bottle (not screwed onto it) and in the `drinking' position (i.e. we twisted the ring on the cap, so that the drinking nozzle rises - this allows air to flow through the nozzle, so that the water inside evaporates).Someone kindly gave us a tip that the solution is to immerse it regularly in `Milton'. I am grateful to him because this has solved the problem. This is a great bottle.

I have been using this pink sports bottle for many months now and can say that it is still in great condition; almost new looking, no scratches/marks or strange odd plastic smells. Love the style, and colour of the bottle as it make sit more compact and easy to carry around; suitable for my fitness lifestyle, (and travelling abroad; including in my hand luggage/suitcase). The twist-able cap also makes it easy to refill and spill out water when not in use, as well as having those handy 'grip' lines so you can grip the top well and turn it without your hand slipping off. In addition I also like the twist-able straw that comes out when you twist the pink cap/lid, as it's easy to open/close this way,and is a unique feature that i have not seen included on other bottles! However overtime i have noticed slight leakage from the cap/lid, so just be wary of this if you are planning to use this long term.Overall the perfect sports bottle, with handy gripping features/bumps to allow for easy gripping of the lid/bottle itself, and very easy to remove lid/turn to reveal straw, whilst aiding in dismantling for cleaning, so definitely recommend; (only issue is that i had paid above £3 for this bottle and i have juts noticed that it is now under £3, which is a little annoying, but oh well; prices are always changing).

Fantastic bottle; the "twist n sip" mechanism is simplistic... but some of the simplest things in life are genius. It eliminates the old dental hazard of sports bottles from back in the day; biting the top to try and open it, or otherwise trying and failing miserably with one's hands. It's also more hygienic than said sports bottles. The plastic is strong (has withstood several washes in the dishwasher, and hand washes), but flexible enough to be able to squeeze. I only tend to use water in these bottles, never tried anything else, but have not had any problems. It's quite a handy size too, at just under 0.5L, making it ideal for on-the-go or anywhere. I bought a blue one (it's translucent)...looks pretty cool tbh! The plastic used is the good type (BPA free) and to say its so durable and reliable... it ain't half cheap! The only reason I have not given it 5* is the bottle's tendency to retain a drop or two in the cap. While this sounds trivial, when the cap is wet and has not been fully dried out, each time it is twisted (shut), it produces a drop or two at the end, causing the bottle to get wet. However, the moral here is obviously to make sure that water does not get poured directly on to the cap (or otherwise, allow it to fully dry out before use)!

This is a great bottle. It does not leak and is BPA free. And the lid allows the bottle to be opened and closed without fingers touching the sipper tip.It has one problem. The only problem with it is that you might need to replace it earlier than expected (but they are not expensive).

I'll put this bit first, as it is important: there are comprehensive cleaning instructions and videos on the Sistema website. The cap comes apart easily if you dunk it in boiling water for 30 seconds first. You can then put the 2 pieces in the dishwasher or just scrub them. This is made of safe, BPA free, polypropylene plastic. It is flexible (squezy) and simple to use. I take it to work and travel with it as it is easily refilled at airports, so I avoid having to use single use water bottles. It is completely airtight, so does not leak when the cap is closed fully. The only problem I have noticed is this: when the bottle has only about 1cm of drink left, and you drink from it,sometimes some drink seems to leak around the drinking spout (ie it dribbles down your chin). Remedy: refill bottle when its very nearly empty.Overall a great bottle that will last a long time, and saves many single use bottles. However, unlike many others on the market, it is virtually indestructible in normal use, and is cheap enough not to worry about should you lose it.

Any water bottle that withstands a month of daily school use and has yet to develop any faults is a winner in my book. I purchased four of these bottles for my older children to use at school. The twist cap means my four year old has not resorted to pulling the spout up with his teeth, therefore no chew marks that are normally characteristic of his water bottles within days back at school. The twist cap has also been mastered by my 8 year old son who has dyspraxia and struggles with fine motor skills. The bottles flexible nature means the children drink with ease without collapsing it. Easy to clean and are keeping their bright colour too. I've found this size ideal for a school day, they fit nicely in upright lunch bags too. The fact these bottles are plain colour without being boring has also meant my teen has taken hers faithfully everyday without "accidentally" forgetting it.All round a great buy, if all four are still in one piece at Christmas I'll happily buy them again when replacements are needed.

We have been using these bottles for many years without problems. We've never had any mould under the cap, but we do wash them in the dishwasher and let the two parts dry separately. These *are* leak free for the most part, but after filling you need to turn it upside down and give it a squeeze over the sink to be sure the lid is on properly. Sometimes you may need to rescrew the lid on, but there does come a point when the cap gives way and you need to replace. We have a big basket of these bottles and just mix and match, so i can't give you an exact idea of their longevity. The newer bottles are in a harder, clearer plastic and seems to be quite brittle.I prefer the older style of opaque plastic as my kids do drop them quite frequently, and have had very few breakages (unless it lands on the cap, which can give way). The older style of plastic can still be found in some sizes, but I'd recommend purchasing in person so you can have a feel.

Got one of these for my toddler son who promptly lost it so I bought two more as I'd been so pleased with it. Everyone seems to have one so they must be good - the only thing is they can get mixed up if your toddler's friends have the same size and colour (and with this size and colour they often do). You can write on the bottom with a marker though. He can open and close it very easily which is great (although I have to make sure he closes it securely before it goes away in the bag). I only use it for water so can't talk about any cleaning/discolouring problems, although as I now have 4 I could probably dedicate one to the purpose if I wanted to use it for squash. A tip I learned to clean these (and any bottles)is to fill with soapy water and some rice, put the top on, and shake vigourously. I don't think that will remove staining, but for normal cleaning it seems to work OK. Love the fact they're BPA free too.

I'm really pleased with Sistema Twister bottles. We've been using them since the summer and they are still going strong - not a leak yet! They have been used on packed lunches, road trips, and for preschool. They have been rolled around and dropped here & there (in the car) and still have no damage to them. You do have to make sure you twist it fully closed or IT WILL leak but even having mentioned this, the bottles are still so easy to use - my little preschooler can twist it open and close it securely without a problem (although as with any bottle this will be harder to do if they happen to have slippy fingers at the time!)The price is great (<£5)and I've bought them in various colours and sizes. They will be an added bonus for when my daughter starts school because I know they won't leak in her lunch box and school bag.Rated 5 Stars. I don't know how they do it for the price!

I bought four of these bottles to use as school/pre-school water bottles for my 6 and 3 year old. They are big enough to hold enough water for the kids without being too heavy to hold, and very easy for my 3 year old to twist open and closed. However you do have to be careful with the lids to ensure they are screwed on properly in the first place. I know that's a really obvious statement but it can look as if they're on but when you look closely you realise they haven't been screwed down at quite the right angle. Once the lid is on properly they never leak, even when being thrown around in schoolbags. These are perfect for me because my kids don't drink a lot so don't need to refill them butif I was buying them for kids to refill by themselves I would hesitate - they're always in such a hurry I don't think they would bother with making sure the lids were on right.

I bought two of these bottles & am just about to order two more. I am a mature lady & these are for myself, not for children. I am delighted with these BPA-free bottles which I find are just the right size for me. I have bought several different bottles over the past few years & find many are difficult to keep clean as you have to strip them down each time you wash them as the seal is susceptible to gathering mould. There is none of this with the Sistema bottles & I have found them easy to keep clean using bottle & teat brushes along with bicarbonate of soda & water. I have thrown away many of my more expensive bottles as a chemical smell develops after several washes. So far, none of that with these much cheaper, Systema models. At last I feel that I have found a safe & practical bottle. Thank you

I have been searching for a quality BPA free/dishwasher-proof/leak proof water bottle for my 2 boys since they were toddlers(for 3 years!). We saw the Sistema twister bottle on Amazon and ordered 2. We are very pleased to have found it! It is attractive, suitable for adullts or children with its neat and simple design, contains a good amount of water and is taint free, we can chuck it in the dishwasher and it doesnt leak! What more could you want! The lid/mouthpiece is simple but innovative as when you tighten the lid the spout retracts inside neatly and easily sealing the bottle, to drink you do a simple small twist to pop up the spout and have a drink. We love it so much we ordered 2 more in this 460ml size and 4 in the bigger size. Best water bottle we have ever bought! Buy it!
