Though I didn't find the location of the wrist strap particularly useful, it is easily removed, as too is the grip tape which is too rough for the ungloved hand. Though the scare factor it plays is pivotal to it's role - would be excellent anti zombie weapon if you removed the serations from the pick. Then again a welding chipping hammer may do just as well, but it wouldn't have the weight. Anyway works well. I have kept the pick tip cover on, so as not to get arrested in the street.

I bought a pair until I actively used it, but at first glance it’s a great lightweight ice tool for a great price. Very happy with the purchase. Delivery is fast, 10 days to Russia.

Light and the pick is quite sharp to easy for some certain situation. This ice axe is generally worth to own it.

Good walking axe- well built and light yet strong.Not a technical axe, in case that is what you are after.
