This is not the best drill in the world. It is affordably priced and functions as it should. Supplied with an adjustable handle and depth gauge, it is as usable as any other, more expensive offering. It also comes with a pair of replacement carbon brushes which is a very nice touch. The hammer action works well as does the trigger mounted speed controller. This drill should only be considered for light to medium duty cycle work: i.e. short periods of work. If you need industrial duty cycles; this will not suit but, what can be expected for such a low unit price. I have used it on brick, stone, steel, aluminium and wood and wood composites without any problems whatsoever. If it gets hot,let it cool down; don't abuse it and it won't let you down. After all, if don't know how to use a tool correctly then you shouldn't be using it at all.Read full review...

Needing a chuck-key to change bits is rather old-fashioned. This drill would be ideal if it had a keyless chuck, but aside form that it is fine. The speed of the drill is pressure sensitive depending on how hard you press the trigger, there is also a dial to adjust the max speed when trigger is fully depressed but I have only used it on the lowest setting which is fast enough. Corded drills are best because recharging is a pain, so this drill excels there. Switching between hammer and no hammer is not very clear but I finally got the setting right I think. This is a good drill to have as a starter or a back-up spare. I may buy a better drill at some point, a keyless one, if I can get around to it,but probably I will just use this one forever.

Good bits: Cheap as chips and does the job. I have two of these as I hate rechargeable units which (as a hobbyist) are always low on battery power when you go to use them. Corded drills make sense, and these units are great for multi application.Bad bits: Clamp handle and drill stop are really puny plastic. Due to the relatively low power of the drill and what I use it for, I chucked these parts straight in the recycling bin! Drill can be quite noisy as it's cheap, but I'm not going to worry about it. Other people might. Conclusion: I've not seen better value for money recently. You can't get a decent meal out for the same price. Horses for courses. Just the job for occasional use.

i have bought this as it was good value and it was to replace my old Bosch hammer drill that has giving up the ghost, and it drilled my walls just as good as my old drill that cost me a lot at the time i bought it and my walls at home are the old engineering brick if any of you have tried drilling these you know what am talking about. with a proper double duty drill bit with this hammer drill, it did it without hassle that is what i call value for money not bad for 20 pounds and there's a 3 year warranty with it

This might have been a new flashy design in the early nineties. But nowadays, the R&D, tooling, etc. must have all been long paid off, and any kinks and unneeded expenses in manufacturing have been sorted. As long as you can cope with the cord, that adds up to a design that's both cheap, and robust and effective for the money. Because let's face it, the requirement to make a round thing turn at speed and with force applied hasn't really changed in the intervening time!

My trusty old previous drill burnt out after 8 reliable good working years. So this one has a lot to live up to.I found this one on e-bay that was the closest to my old faithful, same wattage, same look, same speed and speed controller trigger, in fact when I received it , it looked identical to my old faithful except for colour and name.Lets hope it lives up to its original lookalike.Good shape, comfy grip and effective speed controller trigger.

A bargain for a DIY enthusiast, bearing in mind the price is very competitive I did a job to save calling in a tradesman so it saved me a lot of money. This is a value drill with a chuck key and easy to use on occasions for small jobs. It wouldn't be (in my opinion) a serious tradesmans tool but as a woman I found it easy to handle and not too heavy, it feels substantial enough for the small jobs I'm doing. Great value.

Very cheap and expected same (just wanted cheap occasional use hammer mains drill to supplement cordless and the corded sds). Surprised at how good for how small an outlay. Even spare brush set. Variable speed and reversible. Is plasticy most certainly, but will do the intended job if not abused too much.

Well what can I say, it does exactly what it says on the box, it has variable speed, brill, it has forward and reverse, brill, and it has hammer action, brill, and best of all it is a "Brill Drill" for a "Brill Price" and it lets you drill almost anything "Brilliantly". Nice one Silverline.

Not had a full lifetime out of it yet,but it certainly behaves well, with all the features of an expensive drill. My theory is,why pay for a name, when you can have a decent drill for less than half the price. The spare carbon brushes are a nice token of the service.

Straightforward, down to earth drill. Comfy grip, good weight, electronic trigger that works well. High quality keyed chuck, adequately powerful motor. Useful reverse and also hammer action. All round good workhorse at an affordable price. Delivered very quickly.

with the cost of this drill I was not expecting too much only that it did what it was built for.I have to say that it was far better quality than I had invisaged since I was only buying for occasional use but I think it will out live me.I am highly delighted.

I looked around to replace a stolen drill from my workshop, along with other cordless drills. Did not claim on insurance, so wanted to but a drill that was inexpensive but did what it should do. For the price you can't beat this drill.

This is a light and simple to use drill which feels comfortable to drill with in any position. It's easily powerful enough for any drilling requirements. I think it's amazing value too, and I'm really pleased that I chose this tool.

As someone who use's my drill not just for drilling holes i also use different attachments sanding discs, grinding stones & wire wheel also as a polishing mop I find the trigger type speed control very helpful Great product. Thanks
