Silicon Power are not a new fly by night company, they've been around for a number of years now.All companies were new once, even WD, even Samsung. We trust them with our data, why not SP?And so I have.MY Child's 1 year old Win10 laptop had really bad boot times, into several minutes on a cold boot.A bit of research showed the laptop should have a m.2 slot, so I took it apart and yep it did.I was shopping around for a while, and bought the 256Gb version of this m.2 ssd when it was on a lightning deal for a little under £26.A bargain I think. Now this bit is about a laptop niggle; the laptop did not have an m.2 retaining screw for the riser. So, Acer, you go through the trouble of developing and adding the m.2 slot, include an install a riser, pop a pink bit of plastic on it to cover the screw hole (why?), but do not include a screw ! ? ! Say what ? And also, why ? It wouldn't even cost you a penny to include it, in the riser, worried about it dislodging, why add the riser, you were not worried about that ! ?So, you have to buy the screw, but cannot buy 1 or 2, no, you have to buy a pack, of 10. Like how / why would I want that many ? And whilst still niggling, why is it my pc motherboard (thanks ASRock, top notch, saved me 2p) is sold with the screws, but not a laptop? So, screw(s) bought, laptop opened up, m.2 ssd added, screwed in and laptop all safely done up again, and it's time.Time to move all the stuff across, well, in part.SP are new to me in the terms of data, so I copied windows across (50GB speedily done, but cannot recall how long), but all the User data, docs, images, vids, music etc, I have left on the h/drive. And I simply pointed Windows to the files on the old h/drive.So it's a split system, if you will.Windows boots really fast, allowing you to start working almost immediately, definitely sub 10 seconds from a cold boot. And because I minimised the data read/write cycles, as user data is read/written to the h/drive, the m.2 ssd should not notice any degrading, show high levels of % wear any time soon. (as an example, my 2.5" SSD shows as 85% available after 12 months of light 1/2 use (I have a twin win 10 / 7 system, each on separate ssd's))This seems like a good approach to me, as I feel the user data is 'safe', were the ssd to fail, as the h/drive is a removable, accessible medium, and can be extracted out with ease. Plus, worst case, could revert to the old h/drive.Best of both worlds. So it is still fast, some many months later. I have heard my child mention to others how fast it is, or have been asked how come the laptop is so quick. It is fast, timings show it to be in-line with the advertised speeds.A wake up from windows sleep, is instantaneous. My pc has 2 m.2 slots, one is a WD, which I use for Windows 10, again linking to a h/drive, I also run Win 7 on an old 2.5" SSD. Both look to the same h/drive for user data. When Win7 is all done (a month or so away), it'll be time to rethink. Before that though, I'm thinking of using the 2nd m.2 slot on my pc for a gaming drive.SP will be my first thought, just need to wait for a lightning deal.

No where near the write speed plastered all over the adds. It says "up to" . If we check the actual datasheet for the controler, we find that only the 1 Tb and 2 Tb meet these specs. Drive actually reads at 3,100 Mb and writes at 1, 100 Mb in crystaldiskmark software. In real life userbenchmark software the max read was 2, 100 Mbytes and the max write at 1,050 Mbytes.CrystalDiskMark 6.0.2 x64 (C) 2007-2018 hiyohiyoSequential Read (Q= 32,T= 1) : 3043.049 MB/sSequential Write (Q= 32,T= 1) : 1047.641 MB/sTest : 1024 MiB [C: 12.5% (29.8/238.1 GiB)] (x1) [Interval=30 sec]Date : 2019/04/15 15:58:11OS : Windows 10 Professional [10.0 Build 17763](x64)Full spec of the Phison controller PS5012E12 from the Phison website says that only the 1 TB and 2 TB can write at the advertised speed. The spec for the 250 GB has the write speed at 1, 000 Mb, so in that respect it fully meets the specs. Just not the specs in the adds.Still for a basic PC build it reads at the expected 3, 000 Mb speed and in real world heavy benching it has sustained 2100 Mb reads and 1000 Mb writes. Overall, this is still 8 to 10 times faster than a SATA 6 Gb ssd.So minus one star because the speed tables are not published anywhere in the add.Other than this and it's a great bit of kit, with no problems to report.

Silicon Power 512GB SSD 3D NAND A55 SLC Cache Performance BoostI used this SSD to replace the standard HDD in my sons Xbox one S as I already had it apart for a HDMI retimer chip replacement.if you partition this as a standard 500GB Xbox drive and leave the extra 12gb unused it can and will be used by the drive as overprovisioning to replace 'worn' flash storage locations...there are some really good videos on you-tube on the XFiX channel showing you how to do this.My sons Xbox One S now starts up massively quicker and I make a point of moving this most commonly played games off of his USB 3 5TB Toshiba external drive onto this SSD as it massively improves loading limes and even texture loadingtimes during the games.I did try using an old Seagate 500gb SSHD which also massively reduced the console start up times but didn't help the games loading times or texture loading times...as they only have a 8gb nand flash storage.I personally think the only really worthwhile mod to an otherwise good working Xbox one is to change the HDD for an SSD..Oh and change the APU thermal compound for Arctic MX4.In short I can thoroughly recommend this drive for console mods...I see no reason it wouldn't be a nice upgrade from a spinning HDD in any laptop either.

The Silicon Power PCIe M.2 NVMe SSD (512gb) is undoubtedly an amazing NVMe SSD for its price.I have compared its speed with my SanDisk SSD Plus 480gb as a comparison, and as you can see from the pictures, the NVMe has a 6x faster read and just over 4x faster in write speeds. The NVMe does get a bit hot while under writing loads, as you can see by the HWiNFO64 screenshot. Under read loads it sat at around 41°C.Pros:1: Amazing value for money2: Competes with Samsungs NVMe speeds3: 6x Faster reads than Sata SSD4: Up to 20x FASTER reads than a Hard drive5: Games load incredibly fast (GTA5 loads in under 20 seconds!!)6: 5 year warranty is a very nice additionAnd now for why I only gave it 4 stars:Cons:1:Gets a little hot while under write loads2: Doesn't match advertised write speeds (advertised as 2300mb/s)In conclusion, if you are looking for an incredibly fast SSD with enough storage for most people (512gb) with a near unbeatable price as of writing this, this is the SSD for you!**Just make sure that you're motherboard has an M.2 PCIe slot.

I'm not sure if a month or two is long enough to make a 5-star review, but for what it costs and my experience so far, I would say it deserves it. Testing it with a tool, it demonstrated that it can deliver the speed advertised. So far, I haven't experienced any issues so I would recommend it to anyone who is worried about spending much on a 1TB M.2 card and at the same time wanting to benefit from the highest speeds possible today.Just a note, I also gave a similar review for Sabrent 1TB. I needed two NVMe but was only able to purchase one from Silicon Power for the price advertised at that time, so I got one made by Sabrent which is also a great product for the price in my opinion.

I use this ssd on my xbox one x, because loading times with this is a lot quicker and even the in game rendering is pretty much instant compared to it's standard. So easy to do to, I got an external drive case as a bundle option for 7.99. I'm very happy saving money with compromise, and also a thing to note is if your using an ssd drive on an Xbox one x you need 256gb at least to use for game and other big brand ssd drives come in 240gb and 250gb making them useless for the job and encouraging you to go for double the size you need!

I ordered the 256GB A55 SSD for my PS4. Once installed on the PS4 and Operating System is installed, you are left with 180GB for your games.ProsNoticeably quicker boot up/loading and in-game performance (Under GTA V and GTA Online)Great ValueHighly rated throughout the internet reviewsConsNo clone/backup software included on European version

The SSD worked as expected and is reasonably priced. Build quality seems good. No doubt purists could buy a faster SSD for a lot more money, but this is adequate for my needs. I bought it to install a new Linux system as I am a distro hopper. So far no problems.

Great Ssd 500/500+ MBs read and write speed when tested, when plugged in, nothing happens, so if you buy, you need to allocate disk space on Windows then assign the drive a letter then your good to go :-) be nice if it come with instructions :-)

5.3.2019

Easy to format, clone to (I used a zheino usb3 enclosure), and simple to install once rice was cloned as a boot partition. Partitioning, formatting and retaking was a simple process. Easy to register for warranty. Thoroughly recommended.

Good value, well performing ssd. No issues since purchase 3 months ago. However couldn't get the included cloning software to work.Ended up using image disk on macrium reflect. Silicon-Power's website design is also confusing.

I read a few reviews online on youtube etc.. This was expected good value.. read and write as described 500m/s plus ... I will highly recommend... Amazon should stock these themselves... Good alternative for other main brands

26.4.2020

I have two of these in my main workstation, one for windows and another for linux. They're fast and reliable, easy to install, and very competitive speed-wise with the big name brands.I have no problem recommending these.

Bought to ressurect an ageing laptop. And it did!Fantastic boot times into W10. Ok, not masses of storage but enough with careful use of cloud storage, keeping just essential files local.Would defo buy again at the price!

These hard drives I’ve not done any tests whatsoever however they are very good even to say the better than the Samsung I had a Samsung and I had to return it but these are working in my MacBook and they work very well
