Having been a fan of Siku toys when I was a child, and having kept most of those old 90's toys my own children are enjoying them now. This has sparked a constant nagging for me to buy more. For my 6year olds recent birthday I bought the Liebherr crane among other Siku products. This is an outstanding toy. He absolutely loves it!Perhaps one of its biggest appeals is, that unlike a lot of toy vehicles it is a scale replica of a real vehicle. We see these cranes all the time 'in real life' and you just can't buy decent toy cranes from most toy stores. They're usually generic and cheap with plastic bits that easily break off. You ask does my 6year old really care about this, but you'd be surprised. They aren't too keen on the hotwheels / matchbox range as they seem fantastical and usually very American orientated. Both my children appreciate this toy, they kinda get the whole concept of quality now. They treat these toys as play things as they should be, but they don't tend to bash the living daylights out of them, as they see its a bit of a special toy. This particular toy is really nice. The price seems a bit much but its worth it. It's already endured endless play and its durable, Its very weighty, the wheels are very sturdy. The little support legs are easy to pull out even for little ones. The crane boom arm is metal with a plastic extension inside which is decent quality and takes all the punishment of lifting various items my kids attempt. The only downside to me is the rope barrel, its easy to wind it in 80% of the time, but the way the knot is tied to the barrel, means it often gets jammed. Much to the annoyance of my kids. This is a minor problem for an otherwise great product from Siku, don't let it put you off, just be prepared to rewind it from time to time when the kids are struggling. I'd recommend this for anyone with kids who are going to look after them, saying that, it would probably take plenty of intense play punishment. Also its realistic enough that it would fit into a model railway.

Like all Siku models, this is cleanly cast, well-detailed, excellently finished and represents great value for money. As a toy I am sure it is sturdy enough to give many years of pleasure: however I suspect that it will be bought mainly for use on model railways and I would therefore offer the following advice:1. The model is accurately made to 1/87 (HO) scale: as the prototype is a very big vehicle, only an expert would spot the discrepancy if it were to be used on an 00 (1/76) layout.2. Various advertisements for this crane show it in 2 different versions: one with stacked counterweights at the rear of the crane (the two big lumps sticking up) and one without. They both carry the same product number (1886): as the Siku catalogue shows it with stacked weights I guess this is in reality the only version available.3. If you intend to use this on a layout please note that the stacked counterweights would only be loaded up when the crane is on site ready to lift: the additional height of the stacks as portrayed would render it too tall to travel on the public highway.4. To be really nit-picking, the crane operator's cab is rather narrow even in 1/87th scale. However, I don't think it would be beyond the wit of the average modeller to chop it off and replace it with a slightly wider one: there is room to do this without making it look silly.

Brought this for my grandson's 9th birthday , I know its not supposed to be a toy but he's been wanting a vehicle with a hook for ages and this fitted the bill perfectly) He loves it as he can pull his other vehicle's with it, its petty tough as most of it is metal, the tyres are rubber, the main crane arm is metal however, the 2nd and 3rd extensions are plastic as is the hydrolic part under the crane arm, so this is the weakest part! Even the hook is made of metal and the crane part does swing the full 180 degrees, pretty cool according to my grandson! Some of the reviews said it arrived in black but this one is yellow just like the picture. It does have a large turning circle, delivery was pretty quick.I would have given it 5 stars except its not all metal ,shame (but I was aware of this before I ordered it!)

I was a little concerned buying this product due to other reviews. I can only tell you about the item I received. First of all it was the yellow one - same as the picture. The wheel all move - one review suggested they are fixed. The item appears to be high quality and when we showed our grandson how to work it he loved it and showed us some more moves on it. Yes, it is small but it makes a nice change from bulky plastic tat. No battery and should have a very long life. Even if rope for crane breaks it would be easy to replace. Definitely recommend this for 4+ children.

One very happy son and one quiteish Sunday afternoon! Crane arrived in the pictured SIKU yellow. Seems relatively robust and well made as with most SIKU toys combined with excellent atttention to detail! Would suit a slightly older child 6+ due to small features and hand powered parts. Perhaps the only slight issues the top of the boom is plastic and the hand crank could do with a lock out, perhaps just being picky: Highly recommended at purchase price £13:50.

My Grandson loved this Christmas present and we play with it together. It is of the highest quality (as you would expect from Germany). Apart from the fun of playing with it, it demonstrates some of the very basic laws of Physics to a young child. Although in the upper band of cost for this type of toy it is extremely good value for money and is thoroughly recommended.

Was impressed with the build quality its a weighty item for its size, its working features and overall appearance at the price. It stated that colours may vary and had noticed buyers were disappointed to recieve black ones sometimes but was happy that I got a yellow one as my Grandson loves that colour . Best feature the enjoyment he gets from the crane.

I have been searching for a crane with a pulley on it for a long time for my little grandson who loves to wind things up. Now he can connect the hook to his matchbox cars and wind the pulley up to his hearts content.Very pleased with product and supplier.Thanks.

I bought this crane for my sons 3rd birthday having bought Siku products previously. It is a great looking crane, sturdy and safe to use for the little man, he loves hoisting up his toy cars. Its of good quality and I would certainly recommend this product.

Can't give this a true rating because it has been put away for a future birthday present. But it looks good. Have given it 5stars because I bought a Siku lorry from the same rangeand my grandson is very happy with it . A good quality die cast toy/model.

I've ordered as a Christmas present. The crane does seem quite heavy and surprisedly small. It's my fault really, didn't check the dimensions properly. The delivery was quick. The colour of the crane is the one which is on the picture.

The product was fine. My 3 year old grandson was playing with it on a shelf and pulled it on himself just missing his eye. It is heavy and made of metal so maybe it should not be advertised as suitable for 36 month olds.

18.6.2018

Great quality but I was hoping it too bigger. It is a medium size truck but it does the job. Made out of metal and the string is good quality not like others that I have bought where the string breaks easily.

Really recommend this product, I bought it for my son 2 years ago and he still plays with it now, he loves it, and it's very good quality, nothing has broken on it in 2 years and it's played with a lot.
