Shipping was flawless. Had to pick up at the post office to sign, but I was okay with that. Arrived much earlier than expected! As for the reel it is the highest quality I've ever owned. I had an Okuma Inspira 30 that was actually smoother in rotation, but that was probably due to having so many ball bearings. This stradic is so ideal for fishing for bass, trout, and other reds. The drag is super strong and smooth and I feel the weight of the reel is perfect on my 7' Star Rods Stellar lite. This is a guaranteed winner of a reel.

Great reel, very smooth. Been using this reel for trout for six months now. First trip out I hooked a nice brown trout and battled it for 10min, drag worked fine. On Memorial weekend I fished in the rain for hours and reel performed flawlessly. Spare spools are available but pricey (hint - check eBay). For the reviewer who is tripping the bail using the handle, you are increasing line twist and wear on your reel. Most experienced fishermen will trip the bail of their spinning reel manually using their hand. This a non issue.

I recently purchased the Stradic and took it to my local City Lake for a little practice. I knew there was very little chance of getting a fish there. It's a small, over fished artificial lake and the water is still too cold. But I made a number of casts and fiddled with the drag. It's a very impressive reel and far better than my other lower end reel. When you reel in the line, you really notice the precision of the mechanism. It's expensive, but in this case you get what you pay for-Shimano Quality.

Not bad reel. No anti reverse. more and more reels are doing away with this feature since its the last remaining area where saltwater can get into housing. I use my anti reverse when slinging DOA lures under mangroves. If i get hung up i reel all the way up to the tip and give a few tip shakes and lures comes out. It very tough with braid to pull off reel to get lure back down to a 2 ft off tip range. Why, i'm cranked down on drag since snook are large here in my floridly area.

Love the reel, I returned my quantum smoke PTS for this. The 20lb drag is top notch because I'm fishing it both fresh and saltwater. I couldn't be happier with the performance. It is chipping after one day out already, and that's the reason for 4 stars. I didn't think the powder coat would start so quick. None the less the performance is there, I didn't buy a tough real to baby it, I bought it to fish the hell out of it. Highly recommend!

I fish weekly in the Galveston Bay complex. I own four of these reels and would not hesitate to buy four more if i needed them. Awesome drag, casting and as smooth as silk. Have held up to multiple saltwater submergence with no effect. just rinse them off before putting them away. Fantastic product. Great for any of the Redfish, Trout and Flounder I catch on a regular basis.I have since bought two more for my neighbors.

The best light weight/durable inshore saltwater reels in my arsenal. I paired my 2500 with a med avid and 3000 with A docket inshore(surprisingly good)! My weakass wrist would hurt after a few hrs of constant casting and reeling other combos. I have 1 penn conflic II, 2 penn battle II, 1 shimano nasci, and 1 shimano Sahara ranging from 2000-3500 size paired with med-light to med-heavy rods.

Love this reel.....what's not to love about it. The size is great for inshore fishing......just came back from Fort Myers where I paired this on a St. Croix Mojo Inshore 7 foot Med Heavy rod, which I purchased from Bass Pro Shot. The day on the water wasn't great but I caught a couple nice Trout and the feeling of this rod and reel combo was just so satisfying, I am a happy angler.

I've always loved Shimano products, but always used bait casters as I do a lot of saltwater fishing. But I grew up using spinning reels, and wanted something strong enough for a good sand bass, bonito, etc, but a small reel to have fun with and not a big bulky reel. This is the perfect match... a strong reel that can handle the bigger fish, yet a small reel to give me the control.

This is my third fk stradic and I love these reels. The 2500 has brought in 30” redfish with ease and the reel is also very light which won’t wear you out after throwing jigs all day. Out of my 3 stradics the only problem I’ve had is a line roller bearing which makes noise, but in all fairness that reel fell overboard and was dunked in saltwater for 6 hours before I could snag it.

Great reel! I don't think spinning reels get any better than the Stradic. The reel is as smooth as silk! So far, my largest fish was a 2 1/2 pound spotted bass and the drag handled it with ease. With quality line, it casts a country mile. I'll be buying another for my top-water rod! My only possible complaint is that a reel of this price should come with a spare spool!

What can I say? This rod is stellar. I have own other brands and multiple Rod/reel setups. No doubt when I go fishing, this rod is always my go to. It is smooth as butter. It casts a country mile. I have reeled in large trout, pike, walleye, bass. I am confident when I get a fish on that this reel will bring it to the boat. I will not buy any other reel.

I own 4 Stradics. They are great reels. I have never had one fail. The drag is sufficient for most types of inshore saltwater fishing as well as most freshwater applications. The drag is smooth with instant anti-reverse and the gear ratio allows for quick line retrieval and has plenty of power for cranking on the hardest-fighting fish!

Like you didn't know. Smoothest reel I own, but also one of the most expensive I own. Daiwa Caldia and Vadel have less resistance when you reel with them, this has a little resistance. But this has no free play and is quieter. I can't say which I like better, but yeah, if you can afford it, no way you will regret your purchase.

Beautiful reel, super smooth operation, very lightweight for a 5000 reel. Lots of high-tech features build in, 6.2:1 gear ratio offers very fast line retrieval. 24lb drag is smooth to adjust and quite powerful.I wish it could have a few more ball bearings build in instead of just 6+1.
