My best reel in my arsenal. I got the 4000 for surf fishing the west coast, and like it so much I got the 3000 for freshwater bass fishing. They are very light, and handle turns effortlessly as if there is no rotor. This is what shimano calls their Magnumlite rotor. It has X-Ship, which gives your tremendous cranking power when reeling. It also has their Hagane gear and Hagane body, which minimizes flex when reeling - giving you more power. There is no anti-reverse clutch, but does have infinite anti-reverse. The handle is a grippy rubber, which I really like since you can get a good grip with dry or wet hands. The drag for the 4000 model has 24# which is plenty enough for surf fishing here.

I've owned this reel a little more than a year. My first impression was the extreme lightness of the reel, but it didn't really look built to last. I guess that's an effect of using composite materials to lose weight, and hopefully it will prove tough enough to last a few years. It really comes into its own with the excellent line lay, which is great when using a premium braid. It is for this reason I reserve this reel to use on my light spinning rod, casting smaller lures and plastics. My heavy spinning rods need tougher ,heavier, and thankfully, cheaper reels. I would never pay the price in the U.K for this reel, nice though it is. There are reels out there for a hundred quid that do the same,

Super smooth and sleek. First of all, I like the reel doesn't have EVA round handle knob,which soaks water and damp. 4000XG gear drags so fast and has enough power(Max.24 LB) for big fish.About no reverse switch, it doesn't matter, you'll get used it.Much lighter than I expected and that is good, but you should consider rod balance (especially rod length). I put it on my 7'6'' St.Croix Mojo inshore medium rod(even though it is so light), the reel is too light to have a good balance, so I put it on my 7' Fenwick HMG MH rod, then perfect.IMO 7' rod(or under) is best set up.Of course the reel itself is excellent.

This is an excellent reel if brand new. Not all sellers are honest so double check to make sure the manufacture sell on the box is not broken or there's no dirt, grim, finger prints and/or scratches on your reel. This 5 star rating is for the reel and it's quality. I bought this for my saltwater St. Croix medium heavy fast action Legend® Xtreme Inshore and I can tell you the 1.25oz jigs flys like a bullet. This reel is on the low end $200 so you can decide if you want to purchase it or not.

Haven't used mine yet this winter as I am waiting on a rod to be built.Have used a friend's Stradic 4000 several times this past year which prompted me to buy it.Used mostly for inshore saltwater , fluke, sea bass, tog. I am looking forward to using my own soon.

Beautiful, light and Strong. I was considering gifting my 4000FA but I can't. Its still perfect after 3 years of countless cast and Bass. You've got a hard act to follow new guy. I also have a Stella. Sustain, ci4 2500, c3000 and Saragosa. Couldn't be happier.

Compact reel but I am sure it will handle big fish with ease. Great handle and lightweight reel.
