This is a very nice reel, I bought it as an Amazon warehouse used deal where the previous owner had dropped it in the sand and dumped it in the ocean. The reel had probably a couple of teaspoons of seawater inside the body. Customer service gave me a substantial discount when I told them that I could fix the real myself. Since I like doing that and I would probably do so at least in a year's time, I took it completely apart degreased it and used a mixture of Shimano drag Grease and corrosionX oil to re-lube it. It took me over 3 hours as it is a complicated reel but it was a pleasure to examine and appreciate the design and engineering that went into it. The drag, gearing, and sealing design are evolved, and although it is not to be considered submersible, I'm sure it will hand above water surface splashing with ease. With the amount of Grease applied the reel turns with more effort, but I know I can get it wet without fear of internal corrosion. This is the best reel in my arsenal of over fifteen middle tier 100 - 250 dollar shimano diawas and penns.Update: Filled reel with 30 lb braid and with a 10-6 MH rod casts a hundred yards easy without tearing bait off the hook. OMG the reel cranks very powerful, 4x easier than an older daiwa capricorn 4000, an absolute pleasure to use. Caught 5 small bonnett head sharks est 24" & tailhooked a fat ray est 10lb in windy murky conditions with a strong sideshore wind and current without pulling drag.

Well, after using several reels for surf, rock and pier fishing, I can comfortable state that Shimano Saragosa SW is one of the best.Especially, if you need to choose one reel for your overseas trip, this reel will cover many types of fishing and will not let you down. Compared to Baitrunners, I especially prefer this for saltwater and sand resistance. As a mechanical engineer and experienced traveller fisherman, I can conclude that fine sand is the major enemy of fixed spool reels, especially for clutch bearing and and line roller bearing. This reel's sealed body is perfect for harsh environments. I reel in the surf with this reel. (important note: sand is a problem even out of water; as sandy wind on the beach is dangerous for baitrunners).Overall, I give 5 star. One little thing , I guess in order to decrease the manufacturing cost, the metallic paint on the reel is not that effective. I would prefer a coating process rather than painting. Paint, as usual, scrapes off when the reel fell on the rocks. But, for the price paid, I guess it is the top saltwater fixed spool reel.

This is a beast and let me say it’s outstanding the retrieve is fanominal, so I went fishing and used this for porgies and 5 cranks and fish was on boat....also caught Stripper and Blue fish without any issue's this machine is worth every penny, it has Manual bail which is great while on the boat but did not like this option for casting off the surf, Combined with a Sturdy Stick 6.6 and both work well together......this is the new baby in my fishing tackle box.

This is a beast of a reel. It is big and it is powerful with 44-Lbs of drag and plenty of line capacity to boot.Paired with a Shimano 11-foot Tiralejo Surf Rod this thing casts fantastic distances. Cannot compare with the Stella 18000, but it is close. This reel is a great value for the dollar and can handle almost- not all- any sport fish one would care to handle in the Gulf of Mexico and its bays. One cannot go wrong with this reel!

I own Penn, Fin-Nor, Daiwa, Okuma, Accurate and Shimano reels...For the price- this is by far, the most reel i've ever gotten for my money. Capacity, Drag, Durability, ease of maintenance, all exactly what I would expect in a high-end reel, for a little less money than you'll pay anywhere else. Overkill on 20# Snapper, run-stopper on 50# Ling and a perfect match for when you're jigging 100# YFT.

Great reel.. after a ton of research I got a couple of these and near perfect. The only fault is no line holder .. the rubber band things suck since they get lost and stretch. I can understand keeping the reel clean and simple but need a solution for that.this reel is simply outstanding

I didn't like that the spool is not braided line ready. I bought a spool of 3oo yrds of 40 lbs rikimaru braided line and can only fit about half the spool!!!!.It says in specificactions that it shout take 290 of 30 lbs braided. I expected around 240 of 40 lbs brided line.

Versatile reel. Strong smooth drag. I have used it for jigging, trolling, live bait, and bottom fishing. With all the species in South Florida a solid performing reel is important. Handles Gags, sails, Dolphin and Kings well.

I love my new Saragossa SW reel...it is big enough to catch the biggest game fish out there, and yet versatile enough for jigging and casting out to catch smaller kelp and reef fish.Great reel, great price.

Amazing reel. It feels solid, casts excellent, has great drag. I used it a couple of times only and compared to other reels I have from Shimano this is the best. You can feel how good it is when you use it!

????????????????????????????????????Beautifully made, only mildly disappointed in the “minimum” drag, but will forget that quickly when hooked into something that needs max drag. Sexy AF!

This reel is really smooth like butter and casts very well. Shimano quality assured. Only con is that it's on the smaller side. This is a 6000 series and feels more like 4500-5000.

Really nice reel for casting if u don't like having a rats nest 1 out of 10 times you cast with an open face reel. Say bye bye to the rats nest.

These are salt water ready. Great drag and they manage big Inshore fish. The 6000 can manage a large Tarpon and the 4000 big Snook or Redfish.

Not tried them yet but they certainly look and you can feel good .They are heavy which you would expect for such a big reel .
