Bought this to replace a tired and leaky left hand (rear) SLX lever.Price was good and got next day Prime delivery.Easy to set up - removed old lever and disconnected brake hose (8mm spanner needed). Can't re-use the compression olive. Tried to cut that off with a junior hacksaw but was too much faff so just cut the last inch of hose off (it's only an inch and plenty of hose length left). Remove the sticker covering the fitting to get the hose in. Fitted new barb and olive and tightened up. Theoretically you should use a torque wrench with a crows foot but I didn't have one so did it by hand.The lever comes `dry` with no oil in it. I just opened the bleed port, screwed in a Shimano bleed funnel,topped up with Shimano mineral oil and pumped/flicked the lever until all of the air bubbles came out. As this was the rear, I did also bleed from the caliper and push some oil through (I also then bought the RH front lever and this did not need any bleeding from the caliper as the hose is shorter and it was fine once the lever was full of oil).This is a genuine Shimano XT lever and I supsect it came from a Shimano J-Kit, where you get both left and right levers on their own with no oil. The left hand lever had 2 olives and 2 barbs with it (for left and right) but when I then bought the right hand lever a day later, it arrived with no extras. That suggests they normally come as a pair.So - if you buy the RH lever you may not gets barbs and olives. They can be bought for £2.50 on-line if needed. Buy the LH lever and you'll get 2!I now have XT levers on SLX calipers and all is well.All in all - very happy. Improved braking and a cost effective way to only replace what you need to.

Ignore the other review. It works perfectly, and is a genuine Shimano M8000 lever.A little disappointed it doesn't come with a new olive though.
