For road use, this cassette is a bit of a dog. Most cogs are 3 or 4 teeth apart, which mean a big change in cadence when you swap cogs. (By that I mean the gears are uncomfortably far apart.) For MTB use it might be much better, but do make sure your happy with the ratios you'll end up with.However for me, this cassette was an essential purchase. I really wanted that 18t cog and this is the only HG 8-speed I can find that has one. I've taken it to bits, removed the 15t and the 18t cogs, and put the other 6 cogs away as spares. I then took an HG 13-23 8sp to bits, and mixed and matched the cogs to give me a custom cassette.(13,15,16,17,18,19,21 & 23 if you're interested.) Other than for that precious 18t,

My road bike came with a 11-28 cassette fitted as standard (Shimano). This has been my first upgrade and I anticipated a straight swap for this 11-32 cassette as they should, and probably are, the same width. After a huge amount of effort to remove the locking ring, off came the 11-28 and on went the 11-32. However, there was a huge amount of lateral 'slide' on the hub behind the fixed 11T - the locking ring simply wasn't closing the 11T tight against the rest of the cassette. Enter a standard Shimano 1mm spacer, placed inboard of the cassette, tighten and now I have one solid cassette.As to the improvement in my ability to climb hills - a quantum leap so if you are presented with appreciable climbs in your part of the world,

Had it fitted by my local bike shop and it has really improved my ride - gear changes are now much smoother.It was purchased because changing gear on my tourer had become a bit of a chore - it would sometimes have a think for a few minutes before deciding to shift gear after I had asked it to, which was a real pain when I was going uphill! So, I decided to go for a complete overhaul of my gears by changing the front chainset, rear cassette and the chain and it now works a treat.

Inexperienced in replacing cassettes but needed one for a 2nd hand MTB I recently purchased. I ended up changing it myself. A simple job and I'm delighted with the results. The new cassette works absolutely beautifully, smoother shifts and now I can use all of the gears when out and about. Very pleased with my purchase, the service and the outcome. ?

Cant fault this at all. Has made a huge difference to my ride and at a very good price. I was surprised changing the cassette had as much impact as it did.Came well presented in a box with instructions and is pre-oiled with a thin invisible layer of it.

Got these to replace an existing one which was of less quality that a shimano-I put one on my other cycle last spring have done about 800 miles on it no problems, smooth transmission easy to fit

It worsens the jumb between cogs " obviously " it is a 8 speed, but I live in the Lake District and some climbs are really really steep, so this Cassette it's a life-saver.

Nice close ratio, very slick, using a well waxed kmc chain, not really for climbing, but fine with a triple chain ring, looks good too.

The cassette installed smoothly on my bike. I've clocked about 400 km since and there are no issues. Seems good value for its price.

Great value,fitted on my Carrera Crossfire 2 without any issues! Better than the one came with bike from the factory.

Perfect.You can pay more for HG70's but looking at this in the flesh it looks the same.Quality is really good

Arrived on time, genuine Shimano cassette that has been installed onto my turbo trainer without any issues.

I have used these cassettes before and would recommend them. Reliable shifting under all conditions
