I bought this rod for my first ever in my life boat fishing trip (as a matter of fact a friend of mine bought one too as we went together fishing and wanted some reasonably priced boat rods fairly quickly delivered). I can only recommend this product as it is very affordable AND very good quality - this "cheap" rod caught me a one-meter smoothhound and five rays on that day. It is quite light and just the right size for a boat rod, and even if something happens to it, it will not be a financially sensitive loss. Would buy this rod again.

When I saw the price of this rod I was fairly skeptical of it being any good, thought I'd order anyway just to give it a test as most Shakespeare rods are decent, and after taking it out all day on the boat I couldn't find a fault at all, great little rod, good sensitivity on the tip, anybody getting into fishing I highly recommend this rod.Parcel could of been packaged a little better (maybe with some bubble wrap) better that's the only bad point.

went sea fishing with a friend the other day and loved it, especially after catching some nice size Bass ?so im now hooked ( for the want of a word) from course fishing to sea fishing so this is my first sea fishing rod. Hard to choose on line but on receiving this (excellent delivery service) the quality is really good and looking forward now to testing it out on my next venture

Very good rod for the price. The rings are strong, the action is good, the reel lock is secure and the handle didn't slip in my hand in the rain or salt water spray. Only had fish in the 10-20lb on it so far so I know it is a strong rod. I have no doubt it will bring in the larger fish Only time will tell when I finally get the larger fish this year.

Just the job. Lightweight but sturdy and well made. Exactly what I want for the occasional boat fishing trip. Perfect for mackerel and pollack, and maybe the occasional bass (catch and release of course!) at depths of up to 50’. Great rod for the price.

The rod is very good value for money but the package is let down by a cheap & tacky plastic rod bag. Had to go straight out and find a good quality one, which isn't easy for a small two-piece. Minor detail in the grand scheme of things...

Absolutely love this rod. Drags 6 mackerel, 10,15lb cod out of he sea from a boat no problem whatsoever. Has a nice bend to it. And, it can cast a 5oz weight nearly as far as my 14’ beachcaster. For the money it’s incredible.

The deal was for rod & reel @ £23.If you search for the reel alone that is £34-£39 so it was a no brainier.Shakespeare has a great reputation and this is good deal.I am a novice and will be gaining experience as I go.

Brilliant & excellent price, delivered to Highlands on time & no excess charges (like some!)my 9yr old is delighted & can handle rod easily. Would recommend this product without hesitation

Good for what it is cheap and cheerful fits in the boot easy light and easy to whip about whipped in a couple mackerel with it so far
