This game is excellent for all ages. It is simple, pick out 3 cards from 12 on the table - all must conform to a set of rules (same colour, same symbols, same shading.... or equally different colours/symbols/shading). However, what sounds very simple to explain is actually much more challenging and much more fun to play. Our first game took about 45 minutes - playing the full game exactly as in the rules (dealing 12 cards out onto the table and searching for sets). For 2 adults I think we found it mentally strenuous but extremely enjoyable. I can see how you would get faster at the game as you become more familiar with the patterns for selecting 3 cards. We had to elaborate on the rules a little - if you can't see a set in the 12 cards you deal one more - well we had to continue to deal a further card after that until we found a set and then work our way back to 12 cards on the table. It is definitely appealing to adults as well as children as the cards are easy to identify, but similar enough to be challenging to identify the sets. We thoroughly enjoyed the game and would recommend it to all. I think it might be particularly of interest to those who wish to keep their minds active, as you can play alone or in a small group, and certainly families will enjoy it. See it as good practice to lead on into understanding logic puzzles, patterns, and basic maths.

This is such a simple game, and - once they understand it - a great level playing field for the entire family. The basic premise is that you deal out a number of cards in front of everyone, and each card may have one of three Shapes, Colours, Shadings or Number of shapes. See two cards, what's the same about them? (Do they have the same number of shapes on them, do they have the same colour, are they different shades, are they different shapes) - now find one more card that fits that pattern, then shout "Set", and you win that round. As you can see. Hard to explain, but once you get it, it's so easy to play, and really does get your brain working. A great game for two players, anywhere up to a mass of players who come and go and dip in and out. We love it.

This fast-paced game was my favourite for quite some time, and even began to occupy my dreams! Good for larger groups and parties, as everyone can join in at the same time, but also drop out and re-join as they see fit. When the game really gets going, everyone's gaze is fixed on the cards, and you hear someone shout "Set!" every other second! The concept is mind-bogglingly simple, yet genius. Some people seem to grasp it quickly and then become faster and faster at finding the combinations, whilst others seem to find it very puzzling.

Such a fun game! Bought it on recommendation and it's one of those games where everyone can appear to just sit quietly but inside your brain is on overdrive trying to find the sets. I love it. Simple but so effective. We've tried to play it with friends and some of them got it really quickly and loved it, some of them took a little longer and were a bit skeptical-but warmed up. It might depend how your brain works. Excellent brain training!

We had this game recommended, and as we are often on the look out for games that are portable and don't need an even number of people to play, this fitted the bill. It's easy to learn. Fun to play, although it soon became apparent that our brains are age-ing and slowing down! The photo on the website make the cards look big, they are not, just regular playing card size. Good game. Buy it!

After being introduced to this game on a birthday weekend away by my American friend - I can safely say this game is SO addictive! Simple graphics and simple enough gameplay rules but it keeps me on my toes when playing with others. HIGHLY recommended for those who enjoy a graphical game. As a graphic designer I can definitely see the appeal here!

It can make your brain hurt after a while looking for patterns! It is a great game for two, up to a small crowd. The first to spot a set grabs those cards and the game races on. The winner has the most cards at the end. My 7 year old enjoys this game, as do most adult I know. Some sets are easy to spot, others take a bit more thinking to see.

students love itThe website associated with the game is great and the staff which reply to emails are quick to answer queries and very helpful. For teachers, there some excellent associated resources which kept an able year 9 set 1 busy and interested for 5 lessons with scope for more. My sixth form students love playing it too.

This card game is just amazing. It is clever, enjoyable, can be played with a very wide range age group from 6 years old onward. The most amazing thing about it that it can provide a good honest exciting game which can cross generation and put all on the same level. Can not recommend it enough.

The game is simple, but makes you think an awful lot, prepare to be irritated and feel like the smartest person there ever was, fun fun and aaargh why can't I get a SET?!Get it if you like to find patterns everywhere, don't buy it if you can't stand to concentrate over a family/solo game.

The game is great, suitable for all ages BUT the instruction booklet was rubbish - missing a few pages in the middle which unfortunately included some of the pages for the English version. Luckily the instructions can be downloaded so not a disaster but rather off putting.

Played over dinner and just hooked now. My kids love it as you can access a daily puzzle on the Set Game website which they love. It is a game for all the family, from 7 upwards. Highly recommend it. Always different each time you play it and easy to bring out to play.

This is a fab game we learned to play in Holland. It's about spotting groups of cards based on patterns, numbers and shapes. Great for adults and older children. One thing to note is the cards are red, green and purple, so not ideal if you're colour blind...

My husband is not a game fan but obsessed about this one! Once you understand the rule you can't stop playing. One can even play it alone so it's great if you need to relax after a long day. An absolute hit in our house, highly recommended from age 6 on!

Played this with friends of all ages on holiday in CenterParcs then sent off for our own set when we got home. So simple yet makes you concentrate. We found the younger ones were quicker at spotting sets.
