Fans of Samurai Warriors might be familiar with the characters Ieyasu Tokugawa and Mitsunari Ishida. These two are the central characters in Capcom's Sengoku Basara: Samurai Heroes. The game set during Japan's Warring States period is particularly concerned with the conflict between the Eastern Army and the Western Army which began shortly after the death of the second of the three unifiers Hideyoshi Toyotomi.Unlike Samurai Warriors which has a very serious approach to the period and strives for accuracy (well okay not very accurate but still, kinda sorta accurate). Sengoku Basara runs on rule of cool, where everything is designed to be crazy awesome. Tadakatsu Honda, the most reknowned hero of the age, here he is a robot with a giant drill in place of a spear. Yukimura Sanada, vasal of the Takeda and brave hero, is a hot blooded idiot hero that SHOUTS A LOT! The details aren't as important as the cool factor basically an excuse for insane hack and slash combat. The game should be familiar to fans of Samurai Warriors, hack your way through a seemingly endless amount of enemy red shirts before taking on the boss and defeating him to end the level, most levels have other objectives before you can get to the boss such as breaking certain items on the map or defeating sub bosses to get to the boss arena. One of the main criticisms is the repetative nature of the combat, this is a fair criticism that can equally apply here, either you'll love it regardless or hate it completely, nothing I say or do can convince you otherwise. The next question you might ask yourself is can you deal with the colourful over the top nature of the game, if you are looking a serious look at the age, or something dramatic you should probably look elsewhere, in fact you should probably look at Samurai Warriors 3. This is Devil May Cry in 16th century Japan, it is both stupid and glorious at the same time. If you love the warring states period and don't take yourself too seriously then this is definitely worth a look.

This game is a ton of fun if you don't take it too seriously. Basically, you pick a warrior (you start with 8 and unlock more as you go), run onto a battlefield of your choosing and destroy armies of thousands using crazy combos and super powerful attacks. Some people complain these kind of games are a little bit repetitive. True, but I don't really find that to be a problem. If we think about it many of the games we play might be seen as repetitive, but that's not the point, is it?If you've played the Dynasty Warriors or Samurai Warriors series at all then you'll have any idea of the concept. This is like that but much faster, flashier and more fun.Capcom essentially saw KOEI's stuff and thought they could do better (as least it comes off that way), and they succeeded. If you're a fan of hack-and-slash games or enjoyed the Dynasty/Samurai Warriors series, definitely give this a go. If you were not a fan maybe take a look at a couple online clips and see if you like what you see, but perhaps this would not be for you. I personally enjoyed it a lot and would highly recommend it.

I'm a fan of the Dynasty/Samurai Warriors games already but I'd found the most recent few of both series to be getting a little unimaginative. Sengoku Basara is Capcom's take on the Samurai Warriors storyline and it's an incredible take at that. Being on the Wii it's not as graphically impressive as the latest Dynasty Warriors or Samurai Warriors games, the gameplay is both similar and more complex. Whilst it holds to the standard "one button attacks, one button attacks harder, one button makes you go bat**** crazy on everything in range" style of the DW/SW games, you can mix and match the attacks into much longer combos, some of them not even listed in the manual or gameplay menus,so it's great fun to be smacking away at enemy soldiers and suddenly figure out how to unleash an entirely new brand of canned whup-ass on them.Overall I think this is even better than the DW/SW games and -easily- worth the incredibly low price :) Grab it soon before Capcom catch on and up the price!

Sengoku basara: samurai heroes is a brilliant, comical, exciting little history lesson, based on the Sekigahara battle. It doesn't feel like it though, your too busy finding ace attack moves, building up combos and beating all the opposing forces. The graphics is very good, with backgrounds including high detail, characters very detailed and the game itself when you play it runs very smoothly. Each character is unique, by having their own special art moves (good fun when combo'ing) and their own side to the story of Sekigahara, and since you have to unlock all the characters, it just gets more and more fun and interesting. It's good for 2 player when you have a large area to cover in story or hero mode, but as another reviewer said, it would have been a little better if there was a Versus mode or something similar. This is a must for anyone who likes strategy and fighting games, and for those who have seen the anime of this!

I really enjoy the dynasty and samurai warrior games despite their repetiveness and generally shallow nature. This game, however is just plain fun. Each of the 16 characters is unique enough to distinguish them from the next with different controls and moves that make it a very deep and stylish experience. If you have any interest in playing the 'one hero defeating hundreds' type of game, this is, in my opinion the pinicle of the genre.

Great game to play, excellent service from the seller. With all the different characters, storylines, customisation options and animation, I couldn't possibly get bored of playing! Multiplayer split screen is also great, allowing 2 people to play without having to be stuck to each other in fear of player 2 disappearing from the screen.Thoroughly recommended!

This game has so much to play !There's only one thing I regret, is that there are no Versus Mode game.Anyway, I don't regret for having purchase it.
