18th September 2012I have used Seagate 500GB expansion drives for a few years and needed more space, and after reviewing a few others decided to stay with Seagate products. However, I am not a heavy daily user of the portable drives, and only use them during business travel (I use 2x Western Digital 2TB External desktop HDD at work for backups)So, I purchased two 1TB Seagate's from Amazon (the German supplier ATELCO Computer AG). The delivery was remarkably quick (3 to 4 days I think ! not the 10 to 15 days quoted by Amazon), considering from distant Deutschland - - sehr schnell, danke schön ATELCOThe 1GB is slightly thicker than a 500gb drive but that is not a problem as they are still a small,

I needed somewhere to store the many audio books I have. Okay ... so I am an audio book addict so shoot me already ;-). Years ago I managed to get a Seagate external drive that I have had on non--stop 24/7. Moving files, changing files and doing all sorts of things. The thing took it all in its stride so when I decided to get another external drive, I was determined that it had to be another Seagate.It arrived, I unwrapped, I plugged it in and away we went. It installed almost as soon as I had plugged it in and it has been happily taking all the files I sent its way. I did buy a cover for it (Bipra Protective EVA Case) and keep it in there even when plugged into my PC ...

I'd been deliberating on buying an external HDD for some time, my work revolves around my PC, so I make triple backups to an old external media drive and internal HDD's. However I was starting to run out of room, so finally had to buy another drive. I know Seagate through the internal HHD's so had no reservations in buying this 1Tb offering and at this sellers price, you'd be silly not to also!!!Works well as a backup drive, also hooks up nicely to my Samsung Blu-Ray player as an external drive from which to watch movies. Only problem now is I want another one purely for my movies :-)

The Seagate Expansion I received was not the model advertised; as far as I can tell it is the updated version, in a slightly different casing, which for me is of little importance.Apart from that, the Seagate Expansion does its job well, silent, of great storage capability and more importantly, it is reliable.I have had the Seagate Expansion for a couple of months now; no problems!I also have another Seagate Expansion, which is the model that was advertised; hence my purchase.The previous Seagate Expansion has been doing its job, for about a year now; no problems.

Bought for work to provide quick access to copeis of VM's, installation media etc rather than multiple pen drives. Works great, installs quickly, files move across quickly and works via USB with just one usb port taken up.I would note the drive I received from Sonnics does not look like the one pictured, it has rounded edges and The usb connects via a "port" which slides on and off. Does it make a difference? Probably not but just worth mentioning since I bought a case for the drive and it didn't fit well.

perfect for what I want... to store hundreds of tv programs and movies, to watch on my laptop and show to my friends in India and Nepal. So far no problems ... but have to unplug it without the laptop saying it is safe to do so as it says it is open in another prog, which it isnt... this problem occurs on other usb plugins as well (on W7). There is no on/off indicator light or any flickering light to say it is active... but it is a smaller squarer and more convenient size than my other 1tb seagate hd drive.

I bought this Item of eBay for the purpose of downloading from my old Windows XP computer to transfer to a new later Windows 8 computer...I have stored all my important music/photo files on the "Seagate Expansion external Hard Drive" for when my old XP stops working altogether.I bought a "Seagate" after learning from others that these are one of the top makes you can get,,,They are also a must for a back up in case ones computer ever crashes or breaks down.

A perfect product for when you're running out of space for data. Simple plug n' play. I ordered a 1 TB drive but was sent a 500gb in error, which after some monetary adjustment, I decided to keep. I'm glad I did. I'm still writing this review because, apart from the size there's no difference in performance between this product and one half its size. Recommended.

Good buy easy to use just plug play,record.Couldnt be easier to use.With having USB 3.0 it is fast to down load films etc,as long. as you have USB 3.0 connections on your computer.Record from your TV devices or multi media,you get a good reproduction .With the Seagate 500GB gives you lots of space for films music and photos.I am very pleased with the item.

This product is great-we have another seagate drive but it requires power and even though it is half the storage capacity is twice as big. This one is portable so we can move it to another pc to watch films or listen to music. Power is taken from the USB. I just wish my laptop had usb 3.0 ports.

This product will come to meet all your needs when you in need of extra space. I bought this product because I needed to external storage to backup my Windows 7 files. In addition I needed extra storage to store personal files.

Full marks on every count, though I've owned several external drives, all of which have given out without notice (not an endearing feature for a back-up device) so the jury will remain out indefinitely I'm afraid.

I always think these should be coming down in price.It does what it says though rather slow to copy to or from - probably due to my computer!Seems decently robust.Shame it has its own specifuc lead...
