If you have the latest PlayStation PS4 update (version 4.50 or higher), then the Seagate works fine with the PS4. The Seagate comes with a USB 3.0 cable and a mains adaptor for UK. Just plug it into your console, and go to the console's Settings Menu. The PS4 immediately recognises the hard drive. I now have six games installed on my console, and nine on the Seagate hard drive. Your game saves automatically go the console, and the games themselves can be installed on the console or the Seagate.

I have two of these and a similar 3GB model which has been running without a problem for over a year. It comes with an external power supply so you need an available socket a metre or so away. It also comes with a connecting cable, USB at one end to connect to your computer, which can be a Mac or Windows machine, and at the other a special plug type to connect to the drive. The drive works whether connected directly to the PC or via a USB hub. Transfer speeds are adequate for music and video.

Searched online - found this was the cheapest for the size 4TB & with an Argos store right across the road from me (I checked on line it was in stock) it was working in no time.Drive inside the case is a 5400 rpm drive - fine for backups etc but just a bit disapointingly slow when transferring folders with lots of files in. But then I found out I was using it with a regular old USB 2 connection - on USB 3 the speed was way better almost 3 times as fast! Might get a couple more of these…

You expect an external hard drive to keep on quietly doing its job for years, and as I've only had this one a week or two I obviously can't comment on its reliability. But everything else so far has been wholly positive:- Dead easy to set up and connect- Quiet in operation. Not silent, but no louder than the actual PC its next to- Seems to automatically go into suspended animation when not accessed for a period of time which helps keep it quiet (and presumably saves energy too)

My laptop has a 256Gb SSD drive so needed more space for photos and music libraries. I had to format the drive in Mac utilities to a Mac OS-X extended journaled drive, but once this was done I could transfer all media content on it. Build is fine if unexceptional and if I had one criticism it’s that the drive is slightly noisier than some I’ve owned previously. USB3 cable means transfer times are good enough for general storage usage. Good price for the storage capacity offered.

I've several external hard drives, mainly for TIFF and raw photographs. They are getting a bit full as I keep copies on two separate drives. Time to buy a new drive. Looked around several sites and found this, never used Seagate before what can I say, plugged it in and it worked straight away. Not quite 4TB but near enough. Have already transferred several folders of existing photographs and it's hardly made a dent in the space. I'm on Windows 7. If you need space, buy this,

This drive is about the size of a large paperback book sitting in its spine. There are two connections an USB3 (lead supplied 110mm). The other is for power (170mm) from the included power supply. An external power source allows the use of a faster drive within the black plastic housing. Performance the drive tested using USB3 (the blue plug) had a rotational speed of 7200RPM and a write speed of 160MB/s (30MB/s USB2) and a read speed of 165MB/s (34MB/s USB2). A useful drive.

I needed space on my laptop and my small travelling external drive was nearly full so I decided to take the plunge and get a bigger one (the last one didn't work out so well for me which is the reason why I was hesitating to take that step)So far no problems. I have no connection issues, it plugs in both at the socket and the laptop and it works perfectly. It sounds quiet to me. It's not as big as I thought it would be but I'm not too fussed. Plenty of space too!

I have 4 of these external hard drives attached to my laptop and move files, documents , pictures, movies simply and easily. Simply attach the power cable and USB cable to the back and plug in to socket and USB port allow the computer/ laptop to recognise the hard drive and give it a letter ( if you've more than one keep all of them attached or you'll finish up with two of the same identifying letters and will have to rename the new hard drive ) and away you go.

First of all, the 4tb unit I received works well with no issues so far. USB3 is quick to transfer files - even across networks. However, I bought this to match all the other Seagate 4tb external "expansion" desktops I have, and this one is the NEW model - and it doesn't look like the older unit in the picture. It's not a big issue, as the internal drive is just the same, but just be wary if you, like me, wanted one to match others you have already got.

While Seagate claim that it can be used with Windows xp on a 2.0 usb connection, it didn't work on my old pc. My old pc knew that it was there but couldn't access it.On the bright side, once I connected it to my new lap-top, the formating took seconds - literally. Then, through my new lap-top, I was able to transfer 1.81Tb in 15 hours, which I thought was excellent.Overall, well worth the money.Just remember, windows xp & 2.0 usb did not recognize it.

The drive its self is excellent, it does the back ups no problem and has massive storage, BUT you will need software if you want to have some control of what is being backed up, I did not realise there was none included with it (my own fault I suppose) I use a free version of well know back up software it does the job but because its a free version I don't have as much control as paid for software, cant do incremental backups for instance.

I am not tech-savvy so I was relieved at how easy it is to just plug the Seagate 4TB into the usb port and go. I have downloaded loads of stuff onto it, and it happily chugs away (chug not the best description: it is very fast) just eating up everything. It will go into sleep mode but wakes up very quickly. Does not get hot no matter how long you use it for. I can not hear it making any noise when in use. Very pleased with this purchase.

I bought this as an upgrade to my 2TB version and I must say that this works just as efficiently. It was simple plug & play, recognised by my Windows 10.1 PC. No problems at all with this 4TB or my previous 2TB. Like any make/brand of a similar product I would always suggest to anyone that if they have data which would be life-changing if they lost it to always back it up somewhere else as well.

Brilliant hard drove, use as external storage on my 500gb PS4 slim as ever since downloading Warzone I ran out of space lol. Very easy to set up and transfer files over, PS4 just needs to format it when plugged in. It’s a little noisy when under load and makes a faint hum 24/7 but it’s not an issue. Brilliant bit of kit and a cheaper way of gaining more storage for the PS4
